Had to revisit the gender swap au after being reminded of it.

(Also I thought about what the alternate version of what episode 2 of season 2 had to be if this version of Krupp was a woman. The only thing she's probably going to get is reverting from mid fourties and back to mid thrities and not much else (well, except maybe a certain something that was depleted over the years if she takes the Dad!Krupp route.)

hm. generationswap thoughts on the oc's (based on last night's doodle)

sception is mostly the outdoors kid who likes going on hikes for fun. still pretty quiet, even as a kid. enjoyer of rpg games and anime the kids haven't heard of from the only shop that rents that sort of thing. a series of unfortunate events kid. lowkey jealous that teahide got to hold a parrot in those tourist photoshoots. has a puppy love sort of crush with selainius, but doesn't know its that.

selainius is the magic kid in the sense that she pretends to be a wizard brewing potions (and is why she has a stick). -ology series kid. if the dnd craze happened at that time, she would have been all over it. sometimes she sits on a chair near the cashier when her parents work at their family restaurant and she learned math that way.

teahide is the new kid from australia. she has so many beanie babies. basically the animal kid as a result of her dad being a veterinarian. probably a magic treehouse (and maybe animorphs) kid. she misses swimming in the ocean, but she's excited to see snow the first time!

biamile is... probably in a fancier elementary/middle school (not eliteanati). lives a charmed life. does assorted clubs and volunteer work in the community center library. geronimo stilton kid. tries to befriend the previous three in an attempt to be big sibling-y but all of them think he's a big nerd.

💎 fave trope to write?

its hard to really pin down tropes, per se but the idea of someone’s past self being essentially the polar opposite than what they present as now and the interplay of that does tend to crop up a lot. 

the big cases of this is in kfp, it was oogway and his warlord past, in geah it was sam’s criminal past, and in cu it’s krupp and his prankster past in the sticky notes au. insert handshake meme here. 

soothsayer has a minor case of this contrast, in which her pre-court days (or in generationswap’s case, her valley soothsayer days) she’s more uncertain and her mask of confidence slips up easier than it ever would in canon

there’s also themes of what you are (in terms of rank/purpose) and who you are. it crops up a lot in a lot of my oogway writing, and it transferred over to me writing cu

there’s also my favorite ‘the chill/nice character has had Enough and lets out an unexpected burst of anger/sadness/negative emotion that shocks everyone’

🍄how do you get yourself in the mood to write?

writing at ungodly hours of the night so my usual inclination to nitpick at everything drops to the negative /j

but seriously? if i really want to explore a particular Thing, and i mean really want to there isn’t really a lot i can do to stop. in general, music helps, but it has to be at a low enough volume to not be distracting enough because otherwise i will start pacing in time to the rhythm

📒any fics planned?

most of its sticky notes and i’ve pretty much talked everyone’s ear off it but:

bootstrap (working title): sticky notes au time travel plot. i basically have the outline and a good chunk of scenes done, but unfortunately pranks are not my strong suit

(pending title): the alien invasion plot for the sticky notes au. i am bad at writing the stuff in the middle

in those days, part 3: aka shot, aka has anyone figured out the naming theme of the chapters

bukesiyi part 14: aka, fight scenes are hard and its been 2 years

a whole bunch of smaller sticky notes au drabbles that in some cases might as well be genfic for cu, no au strings attached

from just once:

Death had taken away his titles, its meanings and weight until all that was left was him. Just Oogway. Just an Island tortoise that somehow landed in China and got caught up in everything. If he had to be honest, after centuries of filtering himself in front of crowds of people, the act of talking about his own feelings was both exhilarating and absolutely terrifying.

The boy’s brow quirked up in curiosity, before narrowing in suspicion. Between the messy mop of hair and sweater collar covering half his face, it was difficult to get a read on him.

“…So you aren’t gonna beat me up,” he said warily.

5/6. what character that you’re writing do you most identify with? / what character do you have the most fun writing?

i’m gonna have to combine this because right now. it’s krupp and cu respectively--

i don’t want to get into how i relate to krupp because i’ve already glanced at that can of worms and went into a weird funk afterwards so i’d rather not do that. but the implication that his movie iteration has a chance to be-- perhaps not nice (i’ve always imagined him grumpy and no-nonsense at his best), but becomes marginally better feels, idk, weirdly comforting?

captain, on the other hand is interesting on multiple levels and frankly i’ve already talked your ear off on the subject gfhfgj. from dialogue and how to write his pov, to him essentially being a case study on the concept of death of the author as a result of krupp’s slight influence on him in the sticky notes au, to just trying to find where captain the comic book character hero ends and captain the person begins

(my brain really just looked at captain underpants and went present-day oogway/heroic paragon archetype deconstruction???)

and in the case of kfp:

idk, it’s difficult to relate to kfp characters, even back when i was way in it. like, i consider their arcs and character compelling, but i can’t find consistent common ground, and the ones i do relate to... is because i put in the backstory, and inherently i relate to it by default. so i gotta choose au stuff, specifically generationswap!oogway, for that quiet awkwardness, contradicting shyness and ambition in him, and themes of estrangement

any iteration of soothsayer for most fun to write. i am Very Obvious, i know-- i just like clever characters with bite in them. and in a world that is kung fu fighting, she doesn’t have the physical strength to back her up-- not that it would ever stop her from pointing out the heart of the issue or delivering a quip-- which makes her stick out to me

19. is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)

in terms of words/phrases i use-- run ons, certain ways to describe body language (i use ‘lips pursed’ a lot imo)

as for tropes? let’s be real, most of my fics are just. Hurt Comfort Two Characters Talk It Out In A Vague Space. first it was sageway friendship, now its sticky notes au with krupp and cu. the fact that both their dynamics/characters hits some very specific themes doesn’t help either. all complicated friendship dynamics is the same /j
