I also had someone ask for Cyrus in 117, and it was an opportunity I just couldn't pass up. Not for this team up:
Cyrus is all, "Look we're definitely gonna derezz Tron. But haven't you always wanted to be Tron? I mean, yeah, he sucks, but wouldn't it be cool to be recognized by him? To have him validate you? Like, you get what I mean, right?"
anyone ever think about how Cyrus was technically right. that the only way to save the Grid from CLU and to free all programs was by destroying everything. that the only way they could’ve ever saved it was by burning it all down.
I have recently started playing the old superhero MMORPG City of Heroes on what could be considered the "main" fan server. The game is notable for having an excellent character creator, with many costume options, of course mostly for creating various superhero costumes. So I thought to myself, "I wonder if I can re-create some Tron characters?" Unfortunately I soon found out that while there are a few "circuitry" options, there's nothing that I think is adequately similar to the 1982 look, and nothing that looks very close to the Legacy circuitry. I think my best creation is this interpretation of Quorra:
And there's no "disc throwing" superhero power to choose in the game, so I decided to go with "katana", since Quorra does wield a sword in some scenes:
Again, the "circuitry" is not very accurate to the film version, but I do feel she's still somewhat recognizable. I'd say the same, though to a lesser extent, about my attempt at Rinzler:
ok i know this sounds dumb as fuck but like
alternate timeline that cyrus gets beck on his side and the whole destroying the grid thing doesnt work so beck has to start by backstabbing tron (im sorry i came up with this at like 3 am last night)
My heart: "I just wanna see all the characters being happy and having good lives and doing sweet sexy things together, for ever and ever"
My headcanon-subroutines: "But look at Cyrus, look how intricately beautiful his 'home' is, with all the ever-changing patterns and decorations. Tron must've cared about him a lot, at one point. Chose him first to be the Renegade-- perhaps very early on, when Tron was just realizing he himself wasn't so good at the organizing part of running a revolution, and needed someone to help him make plans. And Cyrus is just brilliantly creative with his plans! Tron didn't kill him when he went bad. Built that place just to contain him. MUST have cared a lot. Couldn't bring himself to talk about Cyrus, when Beck asked if he had been Tron's first Renegade. And Cyrus cared as well. Look how jealous he is of Tron having someone new! … Oh, Tron must've been heartbroken when Cyrus went bad. Did he go bad? Or was he always bad, and Tron failed to notice at first? No, Tron's threat detection is better than that. Cyrus must have changed, but how? Virus? Rectification gone extra-wrong? Did only his ethics change, or his appearance too? Programs can change their looks a lot, but that guy looks extra weird. Wait, never mind his appearance-- how bad did his ethics actually go? What did his goal even end up being? We never find out what he MEANT by 'not going to kill everyone, I'm going to free everyone.' There's still so much we don't know about his past …Okay, and NOW I'm gonna read this whole paragraph over again, while looking at the suit in Able's office and thinking about how we ALSO don't know what happened to Yori."
Lyrics from Nerdy Prudes Must Die (this song fits Cyrus so well (also potential for a Beck and Cyrus animatic) and I’ll die on that hill. Art is also inspired by a short scene from an RP I did with @evecolourshock
Closeups under the cut because I put way too much effort intro his circuits and I finally drew a human face I like
