inspiration: music, literature, picking my friends brains, idk. i have a massive google doc where i compile quotes/snippets/anything that scratches my brain the right way from literally any kind of media. sometimes it just comes to me in a dream.

story behind url: when i first saw the aventurine kit leaks i was lowk obsessed with the inspiration behind his eidolon names, and the prisoners dilemma / stag hunt were ones that especially stuck out to me. stag hunt theory is an analogy that plays a lot on trust, social cooperation, risk and payoff. i won't go into too much detail but definitely read into that if interested !! changed it slightly to stagehunt as a nod to how much of the way aven presents himself is a performance and because staghunt itself wasn't available rip

fun fact about me: right now i'm in my fifth year of university with (at least) two more to go, i cannot escape the clutches of academia for the life of me fkjgd

Misc. Character Info Sheet

name: Henry James Turner name meaning: Henry is something like "home ruler" depending on how you trace it back and James is said to be derivative of Jacob, which means 'supplanter' (or "one who follows") if I remember correctly but ultimately these things don't matter, because he was named for Henry Morgan, notorious pirate & one of the Brethren Court who first put forth the Code, and he was named for someone who meant a great deal to his mother (whom I shall not name because I don't want to summon the man's fan club.) Turner, curiously enough, is an English surname that appears to have french origin as working class name meaning 'woodworker' (as in a turner of a lathe) but I don't think that was the family's original name. alias/es: I'm not sure he's got any proper aliases, but I do think there are times he has swapped out one surname for another and introduced himself as Swann or even possibly occasionally Sparrow ethnicity: by blood, Swedish and English, but ultimately neither culture has had a particularly big influence, I don't think. Whatever's going on inside of Shipwreck has the strongest hold of him but I don't know whether to classify that as a culture or a nationality or a group of people agreeing to at least vaguely tolerate each other--- one picture you like best of your character:

three headcanons you've never told anyone:

He technically drowned when he sank himself. I think I've alluded to and danced around this but never really said it I think? But. I know what the movie showed us (e.g. he didn't even seem phased, really) but I think if you sink that far that fast —especially a kid that young sinking that far that fast— you pass out for at least a second. And if you pass out, you inhale. It's reflex you literally can't stop it. So I think he drowned, for a second - definitely stopped breathing for a scary handful of seconds, anyway. But I also think he was probably resuscitated through mundane means very very quickly, almost immediately (but even if it wasn't by mundane means that Will wouldn't suffer punishment for it but that's a different conversation probably.)

and you know also alluded to and mentioned in many places but never put down as just, a statement (I don't think??) is I think he's prone to severe headaches/migraines. This is one of those ones I don't have a real basis for, it just.. I just think it. I'm not really sure why. The severity varies in verses (namely it is worse in the ones where his trauma was more directly physical.) He's generally pretty good at managing them but sometimes catch him off guard and throw him off.

The ADHD thought. Between the obsessive tendencies (goal attachment but also extensive study of specific subjects (pirate captains and myths of the sea)) but then also the impulsive behaviors and even some of the "It'll work out" disposition just. Makes me think there's basis for it. The rest has come from headcanons I made up after that so there's technically no basis for this but-> also the way. The things that interest him are so interesting! and other things... can be very boring, and he has a hard time enduring things that don't quickly get his investment, and he doesn't do well when he has to do it anyway. He focuses better when he's allowed to wiggle and in general is much better with high engagement tasks than require-heavy-focus-with-little-reward tasks. Obviously, there's no name for any of this in his setting, he's just... an airy soul. And mischievous. And his sense of self preservation is sometimes questionable.

three things your character likes doing in their free time:

Exploring! Traveling! Adventuring! He likes to go places and do things and witness happenings. Try the new and find the weird and just experience whatever it is he experiences, along the way. Company is not mandatory but he's so much happier when someone goes with him. (Generally he has trouble convincing people to go, though. They tend to be ..more rooted, vs. that thing he does with anchoring himself. How people are vs. what he actively chooses to do.)

Collect. Mostly knowledge and stories, things he can carry around in his head, but also he's obviously got the [luck charms] and his little... well it's not a murder board exactly is it, but it's a murder board in spirit. The one tacked up all over his walls. And all the books and the little objects and the shells. (Glimpse into Henry's room for five seconds at the beginning of the movie, my beloved.)

Share. Share share share. Tell the stories and show off the places and listen and watch and take it to heart when others do the same.

eight people your character likes / loves:

This is a list that exists. There is.. There are levels. He has family and close loved ones who rank over other people. Which makes it sound like a club or like he doesn't care about people who aren't in the circle but it's not like that it's just. There are people, and then there are His People. A list exists. I don't know if there is a hard and fast limit, and I do know that he doesn't necessarily know where a line is until it is shoved into his attention that x gets priority over y. I don't think it's a conscious decision, for the most part, that some people mean more to him. He's not keeping a little ranked list it's just... sometimes, when it comes to it, there are choices he will make, and people fall inside or outside of this distinction. I know this isn't what this question was strictly asking but I think it's the more interesting answer, about the people my character likes/loves. Also making the list feels like cheating him, somehow. Showing you something that isn't so defined in a completely defined manner.

two things your character regrets:

Honestly? I think.. there's a chance he thinks he could have left home sooner than he did and still succeeded. Which is insane, when you think about it. He literally could not have succeeded without Carina, and would not have crossed paths with her any time before when he did. He probably even knows it's not a logical thought, but I think some part of him still thinks it. One of those annoying the-truth-won't-kill-it kind of thoughts, where it keep making him feel like he wasted time, and could have set things right sooner. Which maybe isn't totally a regret but it's something sort of regret shaped, anyway.

Shattering the trident. Don't get him wrong, he'd break it all over again to save his people. He'd break a spear of Zeus's, and any tool of Hades- anything it took. But it does seem a shame and a waste to destroy such an artifact, especially knowing there likely isn't any hope of restoring it or forging another. (In some verses there are direct consequences, too, but whether it causes Problems™ or not I think he's sorry it came to shattering it.)

two fears your character has:

Getting trapped/ anything that takes away his choice. I don't know if it's fair to call it an outright phobia (cleithrophobia, if I did) really, but he's particularly twitchy about anything that traps or corners him, in both literal and more abstract senses. It sounds reasonable until you consider that this sometimes applies to things like being expected to show up to a specific place of work every day, and when people try to steer him in well intended directions. Anytime he starts to feel boxed in, it starts to stir. From the outside it usually looks like an anger response (he gets coarse, and flighty) but from his side of things there's a definite panic element to it. Also woven in with... something something demand avoidance, I think. There's a difference between weights anchors he chooses to hold onto, and being forcibly chained down. Between setting the lead in someone's hands and saying 'direct me' and someone just attempting to assume control.

Losing loved ones. No.
