Dreamling Bingo WIP - Pranks

FINAL PROMPT! I've had this WIP for months now, and I'm finally going to formally commit to it! Based off a stunning AU that my darling @pyrecryptid drew where Hob is a spy, and Dream is his Quartermaster. Check it out here!

This fill will be used to replace my @dreamlingbingo square B1 - Crossover: Book. I will be replacing it with the adoptable prompt Pranks

“My sun and my stars, you’ve kept me waiting for your call for too long,” Hob murmurs dreamily into his earpiece when he hears the buzz of static on his transmitter.

“Must you always pretend we’re lovers when you check in?” Dream sighs. The same song and dance is getting exhausting. Hob has been playing the same prank on Dream for almost five years now, always saying the most ridiculous things to get some sort of flustered reaction from him.

“I’m never pretending, my lovely Dream,” Hob replies, and Dream. Dream has stopped believing Agent Hope’s honeyed words are anything but an act, but his traitorous heart still beats faster every time. He has only gotten better at hiding it.

“Of course you aren’t,” Dream answers gruffly. If he bites too aggressively into his croissant, no one has to know but him. “Please tell me you’ve made progress on collecting your intel.”

“If by progress, you mean I’ve ingested approximately six martinis waiting for this bastard to stop playing roulette, then sure, plenty of progress has been made,” Hob says with an air of frivolity he knows Dream hates.

actually the translation of dream into a quartermaster where he designs stuff for hob is SUCH a good thought and the parallels between nightmare making and weapons making??? i've had your quartermaster/spy au for an hour and it's already driven me insane anyway my mind threw me a picture of dream making deadlier and deadlier things to push his limits -- and push hob's -- only for hob to save dream from a glass cage using the simplest sledgehammer cause "it's not the weapon that matters," hob holds out a hand to pull dream up, his grin wide, "it's the person."

dream, of course, refuses to take his hand. but he thinks. he thinks he's starting to understand. hob doesn't even mean the person holding the weapon. he means the person the weapon's trying to save

I've been rereading this for the past 4 hours and i have no clue how to convey just how much i adore this 😭🤲 Dream pushing his own and Hob's limit and Hob taking every single challenge in stride and even excited by them bc he doesn't think he'll die/fail (he believes in his own skill and he trusts dream thoroughly)??? stunning

"It's not the weapon that matters, it's the person." Dream finally understanding that he's worth saving and Hob will always come for him no matter how impossible it may be. The simplicity of the sledgehammer?? The simplicity of Hob's love for him??? Just matter of the fact, straight to the point and unyeilding??? im gonna be thinking about this for the rest of the week and I'm definitely drawing this

I'm literally planning on posting at least the first chapter next week 👀 The premise is basically Hob is 009 and has to rescue Dream from a fishbowl ahahhahaha. But I absolutely want to hear your AU ideas because I would absolutely write Quartermaster Dream in a heartbeat!

I sent this as an ask because I didn't want to be come off super aggressive with a DM but please feel free to scream at me in either 😅

My Quartermaster Dream is absolutely just Dream filling Q's role (weapons designer, hacker etc) but he specialises in personal information cuz personification of dreams and unconscious

E3 - Servant: A Maiden's Dream; Dream/Hob; AU where Hob is a Sacrificial Maiden for Dream, the local village God. (Rating: Explicit) Complete.

E4 - Feel Soulmate's Pain, replaced by High as a kite: Spoils of War Dream/Hob; Hob walks in on a compromised Dream, who has been given aphrodisiacs by an unknown party. Complete.

E5 - Fairy Tale Curse: Set the Night on Fire Dream/Hob; Dream of the Endless Dragons is the last of his kind, and cursed to remain in his dragon form after refusing to help a pair of humans seeking his aid. The spell can only be broken when another human willing gives him their heart. 1/4 chapters published.

Dream also knows his mother hears the gossip about how lucky Dream is, to not only finally have found a match, but also to have Eleanor Gadling as a future mother-in-law.

“It is not necessary,” Dream replies. “I am Endless, I am able to ensure no one else hears our conversation in this room.”

Dream presses his lips together, clearly not happy with Hob's question.

Murphy shudders underneath Hob’s words. “I would like it rough,” he answers, eyes fluttering. “I would have you leave me bruised and well used long after I leave.”

hot (from an untitled Spy AU, yes I am in fact writing a different spy AU from my already existing one LMAO)

He imagines Dream, rumpled with sleeplessness, dressed in tacky pajamas, a cup of hot tea in his hand. Hob has never been privy to such an image, the Quartermaster of MI6 would never allow such a moment of vulnerability with any of his agents, least of all Hob.
