Tam’s Pick: @eclectictracy

I loved the roller coaster of feelings this piece evoked. I felt like I was in a dream, in which everything is amplified and sensations become blurred. The way synesthesia is used throughout the poem--particularly the writer’s use of taste and sound to describe visual aspects of the scene--adds an emotional weight that is effective in eliciting a tangible sense of dread.

Note: This week’s responses to the prompt blew me away. There were so many excellent pieces; it was incredibly difficult to choose.

I was captivated when I read lines like “Red whispered like the aches in my joints” and “I saw yellow banging in the distance”. I can see and hear both of those things occurring even though they aren’t the way people typically think of aches or how the colour yellow behaves. Well done.

* @cruxymox​ says - there were many excellent entries to the prompt this week. it was not easy to pick a favorite. so i chose two:

1) @hangingoninquietdesparation went an unexpected way with the word this week while staying in line with the prompt, and i appreciated that quite a bit.

2) i highly enjoyed the short by @randomlyjay. (and i’m not choosing it just because he’ll give me a hard time if i don’t.)
