Okay listen... Kerry is a grown man and he can do what he wants, obviously but... that two years later hair... no. Totally my personal preference here, and I can understand the vibe he's going for, but no. 2023 mullet > 2079 copycat Saul.

This is still a work in progress, and I'm still not 100% sold on this hair either, but yes xD It's Johnny's alternative hair (cause I thought... Johnny's alternative outfit looks better on Kerry than on Johnny, why not the hair too? No jk, I was just playing around with some options xD). And it doesn't fit his head perfectly, so I wanna use the opportunity to see and learn if I can edit the mesh to fit him better, but, so far so good! Thank you to @z-lagorio for an impromptu tutorial on how to change his haircolor to his nice salt-and-pepper look that I actually do really love in his 2079 appearance :D

Honestly if this one was a bit messier and less sleek I'd love that too... wrong color here obviously, but yeah. I also tried Goro's hair, but that was very very weird, cause their hairline is so different xD

The Judy/Oda hair looks good on everyone too though. But since it's sort of an iconic hairstyle for these two already I was a bit hmmm.

There's a few things iffy yet with one of the hand poses, details really but I'm a perfectionist always, in case you couldn't tell yet XD

Also, everything here is far from shareable yet, cause I'd like to do these as AMM addons eventually, currently they're just replacers. Also obviously I wanna make a whole pack with modular poses and whatnot because we need. hand. holding. poses!!! As many as possible for all the scenarios xD

Today's modding shenanigans!

Today I wanted to test out ACM a bit :D I think I'd most enjoy using it as an additional tool for making custom outfits and seeing how different item appearances work together, less as my primary tool to creating custom outfits as such (also, it is a bit buggy for me and I can't seem to export appearances reliably for some reason).

Since you can alter custom appearances with it too, though, you could definitely mod one "base outfit" and then change the colors spontaneously for a different vibe (for example, I could make an apperance for Kerry wearing one t-shirt and then change the shirt decal or color on the fly in game without cluttering his .app file with a dozen different appearances that are virtually the same just different colors!). Wondering though if there exists a resource that lists every item's appearance names (cause some are super specific and hard to guess, like... instead of "black" or "smiley-face" you have appearances like "6th street" or "black_capsules") for this purpose... and if not, I'll probably make one just because I would find it useful to have xD

Also, ACM is really neat for taking off Kerry's jewelry on the fly for certain pics XD Or changing nail colors and things like that! In all these regards this is a super useful resource as is already, but I'm excited where the mod makers will take it :D (also... random sidenote, but can we talk about Dante for a moment? I'm a little bit in love, and I need his shirt not only for Kerry but also for Vince XD).

Then some silly behind the scenes stuff xDD @netcess said that Reed really needs a party outfit with a cool hat, so I put something quick and simple together for her and... I wanted to take a pic and as I went into Photomode, Vince spawned straight across from Reed and looked so disappointed at him partying without him when so many pressing issues are at hand XD Just really fun little moment I wanted to capture, intensified by facepalm XD

Honestly he rocks it XD Might make a recolor to fit his suit when the mood strikes xD

No but I actually tried my hand at editing this hair mesh for Kerry, cause it was clipping a bit here and there! This is done super quick and dirty like... In theory I know I could export his headmesh and then fit it exactly to that, but for now this aint so bad already actually! :D No more clipping into the side of his head and the hairline in the front looks better. I left out Johnny's hair cap and all that because I wanted to go for a really really short, very freshly shaved look for this like...

Something he would've done at the end of his tour right before coming back to Night City. Keeping the long hair consistent for all concerts. And as I said, I 100% get why he has that look, like... It has old, seasoned rocker vibes, it's so much less clean and more himself than his 2077-appearance like... natural hair color, not styled at all, embracing himself again with the whole "I'm gonna name my next album "Kerry Eurodyne" and go back to my roots thing, he looks like he just came off stage, sweaty and tousled, so... yes!! I do love it for all those reasons, but idk... I feel like, it's also at the same time something low maintenance that he doesn't have to pay a lot of mind to, escaping into his music and career after apparently losing V. And I think with the tour over and with getting V back so unexpectedly, he'd change things up a bit again. It's a concert/tour look for me. And this style is also low maintenance, while still Kerry, still rebellious, but a little more cleaned-up, in control of his life, if that makes sense?

@pinkyjulien sorry for stealing your tags from my other post, but you put it into words so well, on point!!

Especially your last point, cutting/shaving your hair to mark a new beginning is 100% such a thing he'd do!! So yeah, I think I'll stick with this for his two-years-plus-four-months-later look xD

My adventures in blorbo-modding continue and I finally was able to give Vince his custom top surgery scars how I saw them in my head and how I've drawn them on him so far ;___; They're subtle on purpose, but still visible, with some little imperfections here and there and hhhhhhhhh I'm really looking forward to future VP with his chest visible now ;A; These are literally just some quick pics I took in excitement about getting the look and placement right xDD I might tweak some details in the future, especially when I make him an NPV somehwere down the line but YES! One more thing learned that's gonna be so useful, and one step closer to having him look how he's supposed to :3

A little background lore: he got his top surgery done in 2073, working at Arasaka already at the time. The costs were pretty much covered by his Trauma Team insurance, which had actually been one of the reasons why he originally took the job - not the main reason, but definitely a contributing factor. At the semi-legal car workshop he worked at before it would've taken him years still to be able to afford this. And he wouldn't have been able to get the modern, fancy procedure done he could with the Arasaka paychecks.

It would've resulted in an even more even, less visible result, had he rested his ass a little bit longer during recovery. But still being new, just out of basic training, freshly appointed to Counterintel, he was worried Jenkins or Jenkins' superiors would use his medical leave as an excuse to get him kicked out before he even got in properly... So in some places the sutures didn't heal as well as they could've with more rest, and everything is still somewhat visible 4+ years later. But the result is still so much nicer than anything he could've hoped for before his corpo job.

Also, big shoutout to @pinkyjulien for very patiently walking me through making my own mesh for these, sth I hadn't done before, that made all of this such an easy process in the end :D

No, just my adventures in blorbo modding today XD Been wanting to give Vince Kerry's bandana for a while (and it works so well with the rattail D: vanilla game, why must you replace it with some other default hairstyle??)

Ran into some fun shenanigans turning it into a replacer for a hat I don't really use...

... missed an animated component at first so we got this strange situation xD Very stiff and floaty bandana.

But with all the correct components in place it worked like a charm :D Now onto finding the mlsetup for Kerry's bandana in his .app file under his young appearance...

And voila :3 They found it in a box while finally tidying up the villa and will put it to good use now :3 Vince looks so cute with it I cry 😭

And more colour-coded XD Yes, I mostly wanted to put Kerry in new outfits cause I wanted to do some shippy pride-themed pics with them but also... I'm a bit tired of his kinda limited vanilla wardrobe while Vince is such a fashion icon with a wardrobe bigger than my room (probably).

The colour-coordinated Dad Shirts were kind of an afterthought xDD but the combo works so well (like, I always have V's apartment in the Californa Max colour scheme which is exactly these colours, I just love it so much xD).

After some trial and error also managed to put the cute Pride makeup on both of them (Kerry here being the one I def struggled more with XD but also gained even more appreciation in the process for how complex this game is behind the scenes and how so many different little pieces work together like... don't really have good words for it but I just love learning and discovering all these new things XD).

But anyway... rant over, thanks to @pinkyjulien for making both the Dad Shirts and Cheeks Pride Makeup and @arcandoria for the tutorial on how to put it on NPCs!! I'm so happy about all of this it's unreal xD

ehehehehehe, summer vibes intensify :3 I'm not done with this just yet, I wanna put them both in the more colourful patterned versions of these shirts (once I've decided on who gets which XD) but yes.... I'm so happy!!! Some silly intermediate progress pics and rambles below the cut!

Dad Shirts by @pinkyjulien 💛 Sweater for Nibbles

SO. My whole thought process behind this really was "cute summer pics with Vince and Kerry :3" but none of Kerry's default outfits scream "summer vibes" to me. Also maybe I just wanted to put him in the ridiculously short hotpants, because I love the look on Vince xD

Sooo... this is my first time making an NPC appearance though, so tutorial time! Super nice to follow and beginner friendly, even though WolvenKit is still overwhelming af. But at least at this point things are starting to make more sense to me than they did two days ago xD

Now, after fiddling and testing and trying and following the tutorial just fine (messing up a few times because apparently I can't read as well as I thought), I ended the night with this:

Right shirt, wrong colour, couldn't figure out how to change it XD But a good start! Also put him in his 2023 shoes and pants, because the hotpants and sandals, even though both vanilla, weren't cooperating in the way I thought. Basically..... invisible legs and feet Kerry, which was funny, but not the look I was going for xD I think... maybe it had something to do with the appearance I used as a base? But your guess is as good as mine, I decided to call it a night and start over from scratch with a different, less complex appearance as base XD I still love the vibes of this look though, I might play around with it a bit more :3

Several fruitless attempts later, I finally ended up with this! xD For some reason I lost his face cyberware somewhere along the way though, but fuck yeah, he has legs and feet again! And stole V's shirt, again!!! (god I'm so so so happy now that I know how this works, I'm gonna make him so many outfits with that shirt. the storytelling opportunities!!!)

While I was fiddling with V's T-shirt I figured out how easy it is to change mesh appearances by pure accident xD So, put the dadshirt mesh back in, change mesh-appearance to the colour I want and BAM! Success!! I was jumping around in my chair like an idiot but yes... I'm so happy rn XD Tired, but happy, and a tiny bit smarter about all this than before.

What I love about this outfit, besides the aesthetics (TM): He's wearing his dangly jewelry, which a lot of custom outfits I've come across don't seem to have, but I love the chonky gold chains a lot (so does Vince, they're good for grabbing >:3). And he's wearing one modded clothing item (dad shirt), one player item (hotpants, definitely borrowed from Vince), and his own flip flops from the bathrobe outfit xD

But hey... it worked :D Probably not... in the cleanest way, I'm sure the way I snuck in that dad shirt is more the Bethesda "it just works" approach, but eh... since this is for my own personal fun times and not for anyone else to ever look at, I'll take it XDD

I figured out that you can fairly easily change NPCs haircolor when setting appearances. and I played around with that.... and damn am I not thinking hard about a "some time between 2023 and 2077 appearance" for him now). Just because.

Modding Stuff

Currently trying to get into pose modding because I'm loving what @humberg is doing and we're kind of egging each other on with stuff to make XD I'm loving it!!

This is pretty much all I have as of right now, I wanna get started with some hand holding poses (humberg is doing all the cuddling in the meantime :D). There's gonna be so much fluff, be ready for it!!

Still trying to find my way back into Blender, but I love imagining all the scenarios and scenes and asödhfasödfhsdf really looking forward to this XD In the meantime, all my other neglected modding ideas are crying. I need more hours in my day!

Writing Stuff

Continuing "Love is Stored in the Olive Jar" a little bit more slowly, but steadily! Chapter 7 is in the works and the boys are gonna be in trouble 👀

VP Stuff

Just the tiniest preview!! I took these like two weeks ago but still didn't get around to editing them 😩 I need more hours in my days 2.0. But yes, get ready for some summer vibes pics soon-ish (I hope). And yes, I'm still obsessed with @pinkyjulien's Dad Shirts, don't call me out.

I have actually done a tiny bit of drawing (although I wanna do so much more 😩 I need more hours in my day 3.0... and someone to just pay me to do blorbo content 24/7 so I dont need a dayjob anymore XD). No but really XD I sketched out several little comics MONTHS ago and never got around to refining them a bit, I would like to start with this one though maybe:

This is page 3/10, my fave so far XD A lot of work is still needed, as I wanna do this in full color, because, why not XD But yeah... with everything else currently on my to do list it's hard to start somewhere sometimes XD

Okay I'm slowly at my wits end with these >:(

I figured out how to get the laces back to their rainbow look (had to actually add in the laces mesh, otherwise they just would not show up in the correct colors... but maybe that was wrong as well, just happy that something actually did work as intended xD).

The tongue of the boots still doesn't show, neither do the stitches... In fact, no matter what I change about the chunkMask in the Mesh Entity file, it does not seem to affect the boots' base at all anymore at a certain point... Gonna start over from scratch for the third time now to see at what point I cannot properly alter stuff anymore cause yeah... I want this to happen badly, but I'm clearly doing something wrong somewhere XD

Behold this morning's modding adventures: pride boots Archive XL version XD because once I learned Archive XL is a thing I wanted to do everything with that instead of making replacers xD cause, personal opinion, adding new stuff > replacing existing items (cause I love the boots I used as base for this as is, I don't wanna have to choose when making outfits XD)

Now of course, me being me, I don't start with a simple little shirt like the tutorial suggests, no!! I have to go and get started with boots right away and so this is... far from what I wanted xDD But in priciple it worked!

I think... I put the wrong mesh somewhere, probably, because I actually didn't want the steel tip version of the boots (although it is a look as well :O). Then, the shoelaces are the wrong color, I like the blue a lot actually though XD just not sure why it's doing that and gotta go error hunting. And... the tongue of the shoe is missing, again probably because I'm using the wrong mesh somewhere.

But: they're using the correct texture, I could spawn them in, and apart from the wrong/missing parts look like my earlier replacer version so... yay! xD This is more than what I would have hoped for already for my first attempt... now it's time to trouble shoot.
