Handsome | SSS
Silver was—despite his rude demeanour—a handsome man.
From the sharp glare of such dazzling purple eyes to the heart-throbbing scowl of his pale pink lips, it wasn’t a wonder that some people do find him charming. Even though Silver wasn’t a sociable person to begin with, it didn’t stop others from looking in his direction. Most of the time, it was because of the ruthless aura he emitted during battles. Most of the time, it was because of the cold smirk he bestowed when victory beamed in his presence.
Sometimes—and quite often nowadays—it was because of a certain Champion clinging by his side.
“Honestly, that stupid man…” A sigh escaped him. “The audacity to tell me to button up my shirt. It’s stuffy and stupid. I didn’t dress up just to look like a nerd.” One index finger hooked the front collar of his black shirt. Another sigh slipping through pink lips, Silver lightly tugged the collar downwards.
Hazel eyes only followed the direction of that finger.
   “Kotone?”
Oh, how silly she felt to take a sharp breath at the sound of her name being called by such a husky voice.
“Yes?” Quickly, she looked up, smile bright and beaming. A shade of red kissed her cheek, fearful that she might have been caught ogling her boyfriend’s chest.
And why wouldn’t she? The man had a great body anyways. It would be a waste for her not to admire what Arceus had shaped of him.
A single eyebrow was raised. “Mind telling me what’s on your mind?” Arms were now crossed. Head tilted slightly to the right. Ever since he decided to surprise her with his new attire, Kotone was less talkative than usual. In the past, he would’ve cherished the moment, but considering that he now couldn’t live a moment without listening to the sound of her voice, Silver grew concern at the silence.
Maybe she had a long day? She didn’t look tired. Maybe she had a lot in her mind? She didn’t look distressed. Maybe she also thought that he should button up?
   …That’s definitely not it.
Maybe she didn’t like his new outfit? That seemed wrong too since Kotone couldn’t stop looking…at…his…che—
Realization widened a pair of purple eyes.
First came surprise. Then came amusement.
“Kotone.” Again, he spoke her name, voice firm and calm.
Again, he saw her freeze—just for a mere second—before blinking those frustratingly adorable eyes.
“Nothing,” she merely said, innocence bleeding through her smile. “You—ah…look great!” Pap! Palms pressed together before Kotone gently rested her chin on her middle fingers. “I’m happy that you got the Champion title and you have a new fit to celebrate in.” Her nose scrunched. Her cheeks flushed in pink.
Silver wasn’t buying it. “Anything else?”
Kotone wasn’t budging. “Your Tyranitar is awesome.”
“And?” A lazy smile curled those delicious lips.
“You are awesome.” A twitch happened at the corner of such a dazzling eye.
“That’s all?” Taking advantage of their height difference, Silver leaned towards her. His arms were still crossed. His mouth held back a chuckle to see a rare fluster.
“Yes.” was what she said next. Simple. Short. Straight to the point. Cupped palms were raised to her trembling smile. Knowing full well that he was closing the distance, Kotone only leaned just a few inches away without making it obvious.
   “Kotone.”
Damn him for using that sexy voice of his.
She knew full well that he was basking in the moment. And while Kotone enjoyed this side of him, she was also someone who would not back down from a fight.
And as hazel eyes darted to the purple tie dangling around his neck, her resolution grew stronger than ever.
The first minute, Silver was enjoying teasing his cheeky girlfriend.
“Mmph—!” The second minute, he now remembered the consequences of his actions.
Distracted by her adorable reaction, Silver failed to realize the hand that had held his tie. Before he could register the action, he then felt his tie being tugged forward and his lips being pressed.
   Chup!
The kiss felt short yet dizzying. Pulling away, Kotone licked her lips and, with newfound confidence, looked at her stunned rival. “You’re also very, very hot.” The statement was released as a panted breath. Hazel eyes focusing on deep purples, she playfully fiddled with the loose tie.
Bafflement held him perfectly still. Arms that were spread apart slowly dropped to the sides. Five rapid heartbeats later, Silver focused his attention back at his now giggling rival. “Fucking hell, woman…!” Voice strained from the shock, he merely closed his eyes and sighed in defeat as he felt her nose brushing gingerly against his own.
He could never win with her.
Oh well, he thought, as the sound of her laughter only cooled down whatever fire that had burned from within. Opening one eye to take a peek, Silver brought his hands up to cup her warm cheeks. A smile—rare and true—curled his mouth. Though his cheeks were just as hot as hers, Silver couldn’t care less as his thoughts were now flooded by her.
Silver was—despite his rude demeanour—a handsome man.
And of course, Kotone became the luckiest woman alive to snag such an attractive rival.

Wishful Pining
Ever since she showed up, everything he’s done has gone completely wrong.  He thought he had everything figured out. He thought his life would turn for the better. From the moment he was adopted by Chairman Rose, Bede legitimately thought he had everything at the palm of his hand.  But no.  He was supposed to be unbeatable. He was supposed to be the next Champion of Galar. People would see him for who he shaped himself to be. People would be in awe, would be at his feet to gawk at the marvellous trainer who was gifted by the hands of the amazing chairman himself. He had everything planned out. His first Pokémon. His first battle. His first victory. Everything was coming to his favour.  He had everything, and he would gain everything more.  That is, until she came into his life.
She just had to ruin everything! That single thought haunted him day and night. Thanks to her, he was disowned by the very man who gave him food and shelter. Thanks to her, he was robbed of his very desire to become Galar’s only hope. Thanks to her, he was dragged by a strange old lady and was visibly forced to shape up into a gym leader against his will.  Well…technically the last part was only half the truth. In time, Bede actually enjoyed and appreciated all the lessons – gruelling as they may be – and this, in time, actually made him into a stronger trainer than he was before.  Hell, thanks to her, he is now one of the most powerful gym leaders in Galar.  Gah! He shakes his head, anger and annoyance bubbled uncomfortably in his stomach. Hands run through fluffy white hair. Teeth grind together, jaw tightening before he opts to take a deep breath. Warm air puffs out of pink lips. He needs to stop, he thinks to himself. It has been 3 years since that happened. Life moves on, and so have they.  He’s moved on. He is moving on.  There is absolutely no reason to lament on the past. Orphan that he is, Bede cannot deny the fact that Opal is family to him now. Despite the harsh trainings and quizzes and all that pink, she is a loving and kind-hearted woman. Everything she did made him into the excellent leader he is now. Groan and whine and growl as much as he wants, Bede will never forget the fact that Opal is the only who…adopted him when he thought he would be alone all over again.  The old lady still has some spunk in her, visiting him once in a while after taking a break from her little travels. She is an estranged woman, no doubt, but it did not take long for Bede to see Opal as the grandmother he never had.  Not that the young man chooses to admit that publically anytime soon.  Oh well, he is sure Opal knows how he feels.  He just wishes the ex-gym leader wouldn’t know much about his feelings for a certain someone.  A sigh slips off his lips.  His train of thought reaches a halt when he hears an eerie caw. Violet eyes look up, spotting a dot of deep black growing bigger and bigger until it forms a shape. Hands tucked inside the pockets of his pink jacket, he takes a few steps back to let the Corviknight land soundly.  Violet eyes never stray away from the young woman who hopped off the back of the Raven Pokémon.  “Thank you, Hilda.” A smile graces those pretty pink lips. Her voice is all he hears, and Bede rues at the fact that his heart starts to pound a few beats faster.  Apparently that wasn’t the worst of it; the second a pair of crimson meets violets, Bede can feel himself breathless.  Oh, he hates this.  “Sorry I’m late,” she apologizes. Her smile still remains present. Still remains beautiful on such a pretty face. “I had to fly back home because I needed to give my mom something. Hope I didn’t make you wait.” Her voice ever so soft, so serene, yet lulls such confidence that comes from such calm teenager.  Ooooh, he hates the beat of his heart.  “You’re irresponsible.” Why would he say that? “Making me wait when I have a lot of things to do.” He really didn’t have anything to do today—and he didn’t wait that long.  Arceus, her smile is a knife to his heart.  “Sorry,” is all she says. Returning the Corviknight back into her ball, Devina shrunk the Pokéball before clipping it to the right side of her belt. “If it makes you feel better, how about I treat you to some ice-cream?” Head tilts slightly to the right. Fingers lightly brush the bangs of deep dark hair. Patiently she awaits his answer, completely unaware that her actions alone cause a whirlpool of emotions in his heart.  “Do you really think free food will please me?” It does. “I’m not one of your rambunctious Pokémon.” He really likes ice-cream.  He wonders what it would be like to see a frown on her face.  “So, no ice-cream?” she ponders curiously.  He does not want to see it anytime soon.  His left eye twitches. “I accept the ice-cream.” He huffs once. Defeats slowly looms within him, but he would rather bite off his own tongue than admit it.  The second his gaze fixates on her again, Bede then holds back a groan to see that smile beam brighter. ---  He wonders how the hell he got roped into hanging out with her.  Was it 3 years ago? No, 2 years to be exact? They were both 15 and still trying to get used to living lives as strong, famous trainers. Devina all the more had to accommodate faster. Ever since she was crowned Champion, task after task came flooding down on her until she had no time for herself. After saving the world from the second coming of The Darkest Day and basically defeating the so-called Unbeatable Champion in a span of a week, the girl definitely had her hands full to the brim.  He couldn’t complain much, though. He was busy prepping himself to replace Opal as Ballonlea’s gym leader. He overthrew her easily (as how he would explain it) and since then, only a very, very handful of trainers were able to defeat him in the yearly Gym Challenge. He guessed he should take pride on that. Trainers were able to see that he was a force to be reckoned with before they could actually see the real force that is the woman sitting right beside him.  It all happened the year after they’ve met that she started to form a sort of friendship with him.  Well…'try' would have been a more appropriate term.  She was relentless. One would wonder how such a calm and collected person could be so assertive and persistent. He was perfectly fine with seeing her as his rival. Nothing more. Nothing less. She is the Galarian Champion. He is the most powerful gym leader in Galar.  But one day came, and so did she. The first morning, Bede took it as nothing more than the usual training routine he had with Opal and the other Fairy Pokémon. The second he opened the front door, however, he was laid stumped at the sight of a smiling trainer right in front of his doorstep.  “How are you?” He remembers the first words that came out of that pretty mouth of hers.  “I was wondering if you’re free today.” He remembers how baffled he was when she admitted that.  “In that case, how about a battle? If I lose, I’ll leave you be to your things. If I win, you have brunch with me.” He remembers rejecting her invitation, then being baffled again, then immediately accepting her challenge.  He lost, of course. And Bede still wonders if that was a good thing or a bad thing.  It became a habit as time went by. Monthly challenges became weekly. Weekly challenges became weekly hangouts. From sitting in a café in Ballonlea with such an awkward silence around them to going around other places with many topics to converse, Bede wouldn’t lie that he was still dumbfounded at the outcome that is their friendship.  Friendship…  Her laughter brings him back to reality. Focused gaze lures to her, then stays perfectly put at the gleam of her smile.  It is the damn mushrooms. It is definitely the damn mushrooms’ fault for putting light into her smile.  “It was the first time I’ve ever seen Hop run so fast.” Snickers tickle their way out of her mouth. “Turns out he can outrun a Charizard, and an angry one too.” Fingers brush her giggling lips. Both sit on a log inside Glimwood Tangle. Of all the places they could explore, Devina decided to chill inside the mystical forest. To her, the place was peaceful and mystifying. And given that it is going to be winter soon, she loves that the forest is not too hot nor too cold.  Bede didn’t complain when she suggested today’s venue. If anything, he doesn’t mind any venue at all if it means being close to her—wait.  Wait… Realization kicks him right in the head. He flinches on the log, then freeze on the spot. Immediately he shakes his head. The strands of long, white curly hair softly slaps his face, but the boy was too preoccupied in making sure he never finished that thought—  “Bede?”  Shit.  Violet eyes snap open, pupils enlarge slightly at the sight of his rival.  Curiosity turns into concern. “You okay there?” Voice ever soft, she scoots an inch closer.  He feels the air getting colder.  “I’m fine.” Sharply he retorts, only to silently regret his tone at the sight of Devina being surprised at his cold reaction. “I just—tired, is all.” Quick. His mind needs to be quick. “Trainers have been coming to the gym lately and trying to battle me as training sessions. They lost, of course. But the amount of trainers this week took quite a toll.” Keep talking. Just keep talking and ignore her mesmerizing eyes.  Maybe he needs to get up and move away from her as well.  But like hell, “It’s really annoying…” He wants nothing more than to close the distance between them. “They just…can’t give up and realize that they’re no match for me and my team.” Words are out of his mouth, but sight is hypnotized by the fiery glow of her iris.  Silence fills the air around them. Only the soothing sounds of Shiinotics and Spritzees can be heard nearby. Two teenagers do not a muscle. One looks at the other quite quizzically. One wishes his body can be swallowed by the earth below.  Pretty pink lips part, then gapes. “A-Anyways—!” he stutters. “Why are we here?” Quickly he changes the subject. Quickly he breaks his gaze away before it can falter down to the shape of her lips.  She is surprised; he can tell.  “Well…” Hesitance bites off her next words. Fidgeting on her seat, Devina cocks her head upwards. “There’s a special reason why I wanted to come to Glimwood Tangle tonight.”  “With me?” Damn it shut up!  He wonders if the tiny fraction of silence was her being offended at his foolish reaction.  “Yeah…” She looks down. Slim fingers play with each other, one pad of her finger tapping the nail of another. “I mean, I know I could have bring Hop or Marnie along.”  To hear Hop’s name, to hear Marnie’s name; Bede doesn’t know why—he somewhat knows, but he rather does not want to know—but to hear those two names feels like needles poking his wild heart.  “But today is our day, you know?”  Whatever feeling of bitterness he felt a few seconds ago disappears in a flash. “What?”  She turns to look at him.  Her smile truly is brighter than any mushroom in Glimwood Tangle.  “Our day to hang out?” She adds on, meekly. “We always chill at different places a few times in a month. And I know you live in Ballonlea and this forest is practically your home, but I feel coming here tonight will make it even more special.”  Oh, she is definitely aiming to make him die of suffocation.  “O…okay…?” His reaction this time is not out of spite, but out of sheer bafflement. Like every other time, Devina truly has a knack in knocking him right out of his comfort zone. He takes a sharp breath, then exhales in a slow, shaky manner. “I don’t want to sound like I’m not having a good time.” Believe me, I do. “But what’s so special about tonight?”  She didn’t answer immediately.  Instead she remains silent, yet her mouth slowly curls that smile he adores so much. Without a word, Devina looks at the giant mushrooms a few steps away from them. Taking the silent signal, Bede dumbly brings his gaze to the colourful fungi.  As is right on cue, the mushrooms glow brighter.  The colours are warm and soft and mesmerizing all together. But unlike the other times where they only glow when touched, these mushrooms begin to glow on their own. Shock paints the man’s face, then awe comes next as the mushrooms start to gleam and sparkle like crystals.  One by one the fungi around them shine. The sounds of Pokémon nearby are music to the twinkling mushrooms, probably in awe as well at nature’s beauty. A colour of pink, blue, lavender, and green paint the forest. The leaves and tree branches sway gently by the touch of calm wind, and this cast glorious shadows on the ground thanks to the shine of the breath-taking moon.  “Beautiful, isn’t it?”  Her voice. Her voice is all it takes to make him come back to reality.  He didn’t realize he was holding a breath, for Bede gasps silently as he looks at her. She is so enthralled by the sight of nature’s gift. She is so absorbed on the sound, the music of floral and Pokémon. Both hands lie on her sides, palms pressed gently against the log.  Ever since she showed up, everything that has happened was completely not part of his plan.  “It is…” She is the biggest inclusion of this unplanned fate.  The glee of enjoying the sight around her turns to surprise when she feels something caressing the back of her right hand. Her head turns to his direction. Crimson eyes widen in silent shock. Smooth cheeks redden at the heat of the moment. She is a sharp person, so Devina holds a short breath when she realizes the very close distance between them. Pink lips part slightly, though she is at lost on whether to ask if everything is okay or to just call out his name—  All of that is flown out the window when she feels soft lips against hers.  Eyes are round as they can be, then immediately shut tight in a second heartbeat. Oh man! The words scream in her mind. Oh man! Oh man! Though panic seems to ring her brain, unspeakable joy burst inside her racing heart. Body now trembling slightly from hand to toe, Devina brings her right hand closer to his, fingers intertwine like perfect puzzle pieces. Breath still held firmly in her lungs, she tilts her head slightly, further deepening the kiss.  And this…her actions alone…the fact that she is returning his kiss…Bede feels as if there are fireworks exploding in his chest.  Emotions completely overpowering what little common sense he has, he brings his hand to cup her face. It’s soft…he wonders. She’s soft… Palm gently caresses her cheek. Fingers slowly slides upwards until they brush the short strands of dark hair. Nerves rattle him endlessly at the physical contact, yet he wants nothing more than to have her desperately close to him.  Chu… He presses the kiss again. Chu… And again. Chuu… And again.  Eyes closed and lungs ache at the baited breath, Bede whines slightly and brushes the tip of his nose against hers. He feels her other hand grip his arm. He feels those soft lips brush his own. The little whine that escaped causes his mouth to part slightly, and Bede feels like melting into a puddle when he feels her lips on his lower lip.  “Bede…”  Her voice feels like a pair of scissors that cut the strings that kept him afloat.  Immediately he snaps his eyes open. As if being kicked by her Cinderace, the young man gasps sharply before pulling apart way faster than they like it to be.  “I—!” Words fail him horribly. “I…I—!” Oh dear fuck, what has he done?  Though darkness consumes the area of the forest, Bede can perfectly see her under the light of the moon, stars, and glimmering mushrooms. He can see her face, flushed and red and utterly kissable. He can see her eyes, quite heavily-lidded with eyelashes fluttering at every needy blink. He can see her lips, parted and wet, deliciously inviting him to taste what he has been missing all along.  Saliva tastes like rocks as it slides down his throat.  “I need to—” He has ruined it. “I just…!” He has ruined a perfectly sound friendship with someone who has the common decency to like him for who he actually is. “I—go—!” He doesn’t know why, but the thought alone pricks tears in his eyes.  Not taking a chance for her to respond, Bede jumps to his feet and runs away.  …Or at least, he decides to, if not for the fact that he has forgotten the young woman before him apparently is way stronger than she looks.  “Wait—!” Impulse works faster in terms of verbal and physical reactions. Actually forgetting her own strength, Devina grips his hand that still holds hers and accidentally tugs him downwards.  “What the—!”  Plop!  “Oof!”  Thankfully, the ground is soft.  Unthankfully, the young woman above him is made of flesh and bones.  Everything happens so fast. The first minute, they were sitting on a log, talking and enjoying their little moment. The second minute, they were kissing – intensely, he might add – and thought of nothing but her body pressed closer against his. The third minute, he remembers panicking, then trying to run away, then being forcibly chucked down by the strength of what society calls her ‘The Divine Champion’.  And now? Bede only groans in ache as his elbows press against the soft soil.  It takes him a moment, but heat then paints his face to realize his rival whom he has kissed like a hungry fool is now leaning against his body.  The mushrooms still glimmer beautifully. The wind still hums its soothing tune.  But by Arceus, not even the Alpha Pokémon itself can rid the raging wave of emotions in the gym leader’s heart.  He then hears mumbles on his chest. “Uh…” Like a fool, he gapes. One elbow still placed as an anchor, Bede nervously moves his right hand towards her. “De…Devina…?” His hands shake terribly. He knows damn well she can hear his heart screaming like a mad Loudred right now. “Devina…?”  “Don’t go…”  His hand flinches and hovers near her back.  Truly he is at lost for words for the hundredth time tonight. He remains frozen in place despite the ache in his left elbow. Bede feels a shiver—her shiver, his shiver—and this drives the boy nothing more than the need to wrap his arms around her.  “Bede…” Her voice rumbles against his still chest, against his drumming heart. Hands clutching the front of his jacket, Devina takes a deep breath and looks up at him.  Arceus take him now for her longing gaze is a surely the reason for his death.  “Don’t go…” She repeats. Legs brought up until her knees touch the soil beneath them. This allows Bede some room to breathe properly—which he still fails—and this also allows Devina to adjust herself so that her weight won’t crush him.  She is now leaning on his chest, though. Not that he’s complaining.  “Bede, I…” What will she say? What will she do? She already yanked the poor guy onto the ground. The least she could do is get off of him. “I just…” But no. Instead she just tightens her grip on his jacket.  Mouth pressed softly against his chest. “I love you…” It is now or never. “I… Please don’t go…” Her face is hot. She really wishes winter will come falling to her body now. “I love you…” Unable to handle the pressure of the moment anymore, Devina presses her face against his chest.  While the young champion wallows in shame, Bede is too busy being flabbergasted by her confession.  “I love you…” Did he hear her wrong? “I love you…” Did the impact of her pull and weight actually killed him and he was sent to heaven?  Violet eyes widen, sight sharpen then blur then sharpen again. Time feels as if it has stopped for them. If Bede didn’t realize that he has been holding his breath for a good minute, he sure does now as he gasps out loud in shock.  Devina doesn’t know what he is feeling right now. She is too afraid to even look at him right now. As much as she wants to run away from this, ironic that is sounds considering a few minutes ago, the champion only lingers on his body until she grimly awaits the second Bede pushes him away out of disgust and hatred—  Her body startles, but she feels herself being dropped downwards.  Quickly she brings her head up. Crimson eyes widen in shock, pupils dilate and enlarge at the quick adjustment of darkness and light. She then sees Bede lying on the ground, one arm draped across his eyes while the other spread to the side.  Man, she surely is feeling so many emotions in one night; she is just glad Starlight is sleeping soundly inside her Friend ball or else the Hatterene would definitely throw a violent fit.  He isn’t saying a word. Neither is she.  Both wonder if they can stay like this until the next morning.  “…ou…too…”  Confusion sparks her mind as she tilts her head. “Uh…what?” Deciding to not get off his chest, Devina instead scoots closer. “Bede—?”  “I said I love you!” His arm flings away from his face, and he is equally startled and glad that he didn’t accidentally smack her head.  Well, they sure are feeling a lot of emotions right now.  Their faces mirror each other. Cheeks burn like a thousand suns. Their heartbeats now boom as one. Their bodies still and shiver in a mixture of shock and glee.  “I…” Ever since she showed up, he has the tendency to pour his heart out to her.  Unleashing a sigh of great defeat, Bede finally just throws his arms around her. “I love you…a lot...” Very thankful that her face is close to his, the young gym leader lifts his head to plant a short kiss to her lips. Stifling a shy groan, he shuts his eyes and let the earth take him.  Her body jolts slightly at the hug, at his kiss, at his confession. Did she hear him right, she wonders. If this was truly the trick of some trickster Pokémon, Devina really did have the right mind to unleash and awaken all six of her Pokémon to hunt the cruel being down.  But to feel his embrace, so warm and snug. To hear his rapid heartbeat beating against hers. Devina can’t beat back the smile that shakily, shamelessly grows on her beet red face.  She giggles once. Twice. Then laughs gleefully before nuzzling into his neck.  Arceus, she will be the death of him as he flinches from the delicious contact.  “I love you, Bede!”  Ever since she showed up into his life, Bede has known nothing but wonderful happiness.  His smile grows wider and wider. Laughter then accompanies her own. Not caring about the flushed red that burns right to the tips of his ears, Bede lifts his head again to press a lingering, loving kiss to the top of her head.  “I love you too, Devina.” END

and she was none the wiser
tears of themis. luke/rosa.
a.n. from this idea i had yesterday about luke really leaving rosa and changing his appearance.
"Luke!"
The tug on the hem of his shirt was not that stopped him dead on his tracks and froze his bloodstream, but it was his name, his old name, spoken in a voice that he had only heard in his dreams for the last one year.
Her eyes were still the same as he remembered, a beautiful pair of emerald that put stars into shame. They're widened upon seeing his face, blinking repeatedly as she realised her 'mistake'. "S-sorry! I got the wrong person!"
He could feel his skin prickling at her voice, lips quivering at the sight of her, heart skipping its beats from how much he missed her. The name of his beloved was on the tip of the tongue, and he chewed the inside of his cheeks to stop himself from slipping. Pulling the corners of his mouth up by force, he gave a practised smile and uttered, "It's alright," in a voice that was so alien to him.
This is all this for her, he reminded himself, nails digging into his palm. So she won't know. So she won't cry. So she won't be sad.
But upon hearing his words she knitted her eyebrows and stared instead of leaving. A mixture of panic and fear gripped his heart in a vice grip. Her eyes were searching, scrutinising—a sword that's cut everything in her path to the truth.
He... he must go. He had to go. From here, from her, from her life.
Clearing his throat, he said, "I... am in hurry. Could you please... let go of my shirt?"
She jumped noticeably and promptly let go. "Ah! I'm sorry once again." Bowing, she turned around, walking away in a hurry, and he had to gripped on his other arm so he wouldn't chase after her, even though he's worried she might trip on her feet by how fast she was walking. It was to ground himself to the path he had chosen, the path of her happiness.
A buzz from his pocket called him back to reality. An incoming call from a certain nagging doctor.
"Luke, where are you? You said you'd be here fifteen minutes ago."
"... Stop calling me that. I am not Luke anymore."
A momentary silence from the other side before the caller said, "Sorry, sorry. I've known you for almost a decade as Luke, so it's hard to switch. Anyway, where are you?"
He sighed and turned around, steps wide and quick. "Close. I should be there in a minute."
.
.
.
She looked back, watching the man she had mistaken before as her childhood friend with narrowed eyes. It was the same. The way he walked was exactly the same as Luke. So much that she was about to chase after him once again.
"But he's not him..."
Their appearance was completely different. His eyes even more so. That stranger's eyes were deep brown colour, a total opposite of the warm coral colour of Luke she loved so much.
Still, a nagging feeling remained in her heart that made her stop and watch, especially after hearing the young man talked. If not for the completely different, she would've been convinced that the one who had stood before her was Luke in a disguise.
The sound of her ringtone snapped her out of her thoughts, and she picked it up. After a few exchanged words, she tapped the red button to disconnect the call, and eyed her screen. It was a shot of her and Luke after they finished an escape room, taken one year ago before his sudden departure for a 'classified mission in another country'.
Shaking her head, she muttered with a helpless smile to herself, "I guess I just miss him."
Her thumb hovered the lock button, but she perked up before opening her notes and tapped on one particular note with a long list.
"Meeting someone who has the same gait as you," she recited what she typed, and skimmed the list briefly.
Passing bar exam. Winning a big case for Marius' acquaintances. New escape room puzzle. An gelato shop that sells unique flavours — we have to try the chili flavour. Funny story from Celestine about chicken.
On and on the list went, making her sighed. There were so many things she wanted to talk to Luke about, so many stories to share, and she's determined to go through every single one in the list once he's back. Slipping the phone inside her bag, the young lawyer continued her walk to her office, all the while wishing earnestly in her heart, I hope he comes back soon.

Irresolute Feelings (Chapter 1) | Volokari
If someone had told Akari that she would find her soulmate 500 years in the past, she would have either dismissed it or laughed it off.
It’s stupid, unbelievable, and downright impossible. She would have a better chance to find a shiny Feebas than the possibility of her love interest being someone who existed way before her own grandparents.
And what if her love interest was a man who was hell bent on killing her and wiping the entire world from its existence? What if they had a horrible fallout that would surely confirm the very idea of them never seeing each other again? What if they had to reunite a year later after being forced to face another unspeakable danger that threatened the past, present, and future?
What if they put their differences aside and worked together which ensured not only the world’s safety, but also their intense feelings for each other?
It was hilarious. Unbelievable and hilarious. Akari might have to smack some senses if someone told her that.
   And yet...
   “Akari?”
His voice snapped her back to reality. A jump and a short peep, then a blush on the cheeks when the other’s reaction was a laugh. “Don’t startle me like that.” She spoke as a glare was given to the tall man.
Not a guilt was hinted when Volo replied, “Sorry, my dear.” Seeing the puff of her cheeks was a delight. Baring a sense of confidence, he leaned towards her and gave a quick kiss on the top of her head.
Ah, those cheeks got cuter every time he saw her.
“You were staring off in the distance.” One hand teasingly pinched her cheek. “Get distracted any further and I would have loved to bite this red mochi.” His smile curled swirls when he saw her pout and push his hand away.
Truly, ever since they were in a relationship—as shocking as it was to both of them—Volo found absolute delight in teasing her. What was once a tool of manipulation, now became a natural habit. He never knew the young woman could be so expressive and responsive. In the few years they knew each other, Volo had observed the many faces of The Chosen One.
He had seen how she pined for him as he blinded her with lies. He had seen unbearable heartbreak when they fought their final battle in The Temple of Sinnoh. He had witnessed her rage when fate forced them together. He had witnessed her indifference when he stood by her side against a common, treacherous enemy.
He felt the horrifying fear of seeing her almost lifeless for the second time in their battle against her past—to get a glimpse of never, ever feeling her warmth ever again.
He felt the agony, the breathless pain when she was blinded with a choice to go home—knowing very well that he may never, ever see her again.
It was something he wanted. Something he should have wanted.
And yet, the memory of losing his family, his tribe, his light—everything—Volo soon found out that Arceus was both cruel and merciful.
As the new year soon rolled by in the corner, Volo now saw pure love emanating from Akari. And how selfish, how powerful he felt to know that that genuine love poured endlessly for him—and only him.
   “I’m not food, you know.”
Her voice brought him back. It always did.
“Ah,” Quickly he recollected his sense, “but you do taste delicious.” His smile stayed, sly as a Zoroark that could almost everyone thinking he was one. “I, for one, definitely remembered how delicious you tasted last night—”
“Okay!” A shout echoed inside the house, tone slightly pitched to match the burning red in her cheeks. “You need to get to work before I sic Belial on you.” Without waiting for his response, Akari—still with cheeks ablaze—swatted his hands away and spun him around.
As much as their feelings were mutual, Volo still found utter disgust in that Hisuian Typhlosion of hers.
Granted, he tried to kill the starter’s wielder in the past, but the Pokémon needed to know that people change.
“Yes, yes.” Shaking in mock defeat, Volo easily spun his heel and held her hands. “I’m off to work now. I’m sad to see my beloved Akari shooing me when all I did was giving her affection.” A sorrowful tone bounced with every word. His smile still stayed in place, Volo bit back a smirk to see her jutted lower lip.
   Truly, she tempted him so.
“I’m not shooing you,” she grumbled, knowing very well he was just toying with her. “We’re both going to be late and I can’t afford to have Commander Kamado giving me a lecture again.”
He knew she was somewhat joking, but a part of him twitched at the mention of another man’s name.
“Hmm...” Lips pursed, Volo bobbed his head and casually reached for the Ginkgo hat near the entrance. His eyes on her broke for a moment, and Volo immediately wore the hat to hide such a flickering glare in his iris.
Unaware of his actions, Akari took a deep breath and held her head high. “Well, if that ever happens again, I’ll have Nobunaga to fight him in my stead. In the meantime, I’ve been practicing some fighting moves with Rei so the Commander will never know what’s coming!” She flexed one arm, actually showing a bicep that had become proof of her survival skills in Hisui.
As proud as she was—and she deserved to be—Volo couldn’t fight the crack in his heart at the mention of another man’s name.
He despised it. He truly despised it.
“Well—” he clipped, tone light yet sharp, “in that case, I should have no worries in the world.” A smile curled his lips, perfect and still. Her gaze on him only fell for only a few seconds, for Volo knew, if she looked at him any longer, she would see the true emotion that gritted behind tight lips.
In the guise of looking at the sky through the opened door, Volo gently patted her head. “Be careful out there, Akari.” Volo looked at her again, assured that this time, his smile was masked to perfection. “I’ll see you later tonight.” A kiss was bestowed on her forehead; pride beamed in his chest to hear the soft squeak of his beloved.
   His beloved.
   His. No one else.
One hand cupped the place that he kissed, Akari gave a little pout. “Mm…” Sound meek as the red in her cheeks, Akari cupped his cheek with her other hand. “I’ll see you tonight, Volo.” Her mouth remained parted, hesitant at the next words that lingered at the tip of her tongue. Her heart yearned for the words to be released, yet her mind held back with a fear that choked her throat.
   “I love you.”
Finally, she said it. Again and again.
Her heart triumphed at the success.
   “I…do too.”
That success however was short-lived and extinguished.
A glimmer of disappointment dimmed the colour of such mesmerizing black irises. But just as it came, it quickly then disappeared. With a quick breath, Akari quickly regained her pride—this was not the first time after all.
With silence and a smile, Volo excused himself and left their home.
Leaving Akari standing by the entrance, once again mending a withered heart that ached for the one word it so desperately needed.
--------------------
The Chosen One was a human girl who fell from the sky and became the voice of those who ruled them all.
She was the strongest in her time, and now the strongest in theirs. Her capability to handle Pokémon as if they weren’t beasts that could easily kill both placed such awe and horror in people. Everyone praised her. Everyone derided her. At first, humans formed distances among themselves in fear that she was a curse that would rob them of their living. As time went by, such baseless rumours faded as she proved herself to be helpful and heroic.
The rumours started again—growing intensely even—when the sky turned red, and all the attention fell upon the human girl who had done nothing but sacrifice herself for the greater good.
   Humans were stupid. Idiotic.
   And she was far stupider.
   “I love you.”
A sharp breath hitched as her words lingered. Volo shook his head lightly, walking forward and trying his damnedest to ignore the burning pain in his chest.
He should have said it back. He should have confessed as well. He should have bared himself open to the woman who saved him from an abyss that swallowed him whole.
   And yet…
   “I love you.”
   Another breath. Sharper. More strained.
“How foolish…” A low hiss spat through gritted teeth. Knowing that he couldn’t keep his mask on in front of customers, Volo quietly walked towards an alley. Once assured that he was alone, he placed his bag and lazily leaned against a wooden hut. One arm draped across closed eyes, though regret them loomed once he realized it only made him see the smile that brought back hope into him.
Suddenly, a bright red light zipped past his bag. Volo didn’t need to look to see who it was.
‘Volo?’ Togekiss chirped lightly, concern etched on her face. Her wielder didn’t respond immediately, but she knew he heard her perfectly. ‘Do you need to talk about it?’ She knew he couldn’t understand her, but Togekiss hoped that the low tone in her voice was enough to convey the message.
   In a way, it did.
“I’m just…” A grunt. “A lot of things in my mind, dear.” Slowly, his arm dropped to his side. A woeful smile was given to the Jubilee Pokémon. One hand gently petted her, fingers ruffled through the soft white feathers.
She squeaked at the affection, but kept her worries on him still. ‘Akari?’
Volo shouldn’t understand her, yet the intonation that she gave was so familiar.
His smile quivered. “I—” His hand stopped on her head. “She…” Akari’s fate. Her presence. Her feelings. Her. Volo had grown through so much the moment she invaded his life. At first, all he ever wanted was to get rid of her. She was an obstacle. A plague that needed to be exterminated in order for him to reach his goal. As time rolled by, he soon realized that she was the key to his new world. He just needed to use to her. To guide her to the plates that would ensure Arceus’ presence.
Volo then realized her feelings for him.
   He was disgusted. Revolted. Excited.
He could use this. He could use her. Love is a disease that could weaken even the strongest. A man who had seen colours and light could go blind so easily if love asked them to burst their eyeballs. If Volo played his cards right, he could convince her to give him all his plates.
If not, he could always kill her like he planned.
Alas, Arceus had other plans for him—for better or for worse.
   “I’m…” His heart hurt. “…afraid.”
Togekiss remained quiet, patient and waiting, never surprised as Volo bared his feelings.
“She’s mine now and I…” His mouth gaped. A bitter chuckle escaped through. “I often think that I will wake up soon.”
Surprise finally widened the Pokémon’s eyes.
He looked at her. Sorrow clouded his vision. Despondence lined the corners of his smile. “We should have been in our new world right now. We would be happier. Free from the suffering and pain that we’re forced to face. Free from Arceus’ judgement since I would now hold his powers.” The hand by his side curled to fists. “And yet, none of that ever happened. Here we are—here I am—still in this damn world I hate. In this damn universe that condemns my every waking day.”
Togekiss merely listened, her frown deepened by his confession.
“And yet…I don’t mind it now.”
Surely, she was surprised at the fact that he was still able to surprise her every now and then. ‘Meaning?’ Casting a quick glance at his bag, Togekiss perched on it before giving her full attention back at him.
“I don’t mind living in this damn world. I don’t mind breathing in this cursed universe.” Grey eyes looked at the sky, blue and clear with hope.
   He despised it.
“I don’t mind all of that now because…because now I have her.”
The pain in his chest tightened at the memory of Akari.
The Chosen One who saved the world from falling into ruin. The Chosen One who saw the good in everyone even from those who exiled her. The Chosen One who sacrificed her own happiness if it means others were able to feel joy.
The Chosen One who finds the chances of this timeline after losing her own in an aftermath of a demonic destruction.
She should be broken. She should have lost hope. The moment her world was destroyed right before her very eyes, she should have numbed all senses and used the blasted deity to recreate her world.
   And yet, she didn’t.
To make matters worse, neither did Arceus.
It may have saved her from the brink of death. But to deny her the wish of ever returning home was something any human would have a reason to lose their sanity.
Volo could never know the conversation they had between the two, but once the Alpha Pokémon finally granted his wish of its presence, all he remembered was the sound of its haunting voice: ‘This is meant to be.’
The last thing Volo remembered was seeing Akari. Lifeless and unmoving as she lay on an open meadow.
His emotions were bare as a newborn baby as he cradled her into his arms. His laughter and tears mingled as he saw her grumble awake.
Their old worlds may be gone, but Arceus had given them a chance to start a new world together.
A smile he didn’t realize he had trembled. “That’s why I’m afraid.” His head dropped. “What if this was all another dream? Another cruel play by Arceus? I’ve done so many things to blaspheme it, it’s not a surprise that I’m being punished now.” Both fists were raised, shaken and tight. “To feel this happiness. To get a second chance. To receive her forgiveness. To taste her love. All of these are things that I should never deserve…”
   His voice lowered, quivered.
   “I love you.”
“Her words ring so true and I…I want to believe her. I do…” Slowly, his back slid down. “I do…” Curled hands resting on the top of his knees, Volo weakly bent until his forehead landed on his fists. “But if do believe her, if I do say it in return, what if this little world shatters? What if she fades away and I can’t do anything to reach her…?” His voice cracked. Blonde bangs shielded the side of his face.
   “I love you.”
   “I can’t lose her too…”
Silence was the answer to all his sorrows.
A lone man knelt in the alleyway, hidden and quiet amidst the lively sound of the village. He remained still, lost in his despair. Togekiss only watched him, sad and even more concerned as she listened to his fears.
‘Volo…’ she peeped. Carefully, she hopped off the bag and towards him. ‘You won’t lose her.’ The Jubilee Pokémon softly bopped his head with her own. ‘It’s been almost a year and you’re still together. If this really was a cruel game by Arceus, she would have left or died by now.’ Togekiss tried her best to cheer him up—tried being the keyword. ‘But she didn’t. She’s here and she loves you. Even if she’s terribly sad that her world is gone, she didn’t lose hope because you are there for her.’
Her comfort was given in sounds of chirps and cheeps. Even if Volo couldn’t understand, Togekiss would try her best to make sure that his friend was happy again.
   ‘Akari truly loves you.’
The familiar tune of her name brought his head up. Volo looked at his childhood friend, mouth frowned and eyes gloomy. However, a part of him fizzled a numbing warmth at the sight of her confident smile.
Maybe he did understand her a little bit.
“Thank you, Togekiss.” Back straightened against the wooden wall, Volo gave her another pat. “Thank you…”
A triumphant coo actually tickled a laugh out of him.
‘You should tell Akari how you feel too.’ She tried again. Knowing that this message was very important, Togekiss took flight and started flying in front of him. She zipped to the left then upwards, then turned upside-down for a mere second before flying right-side-up, then downwards and to the right, right at the starting point.
It took Volo a few seconds to realize what she was trying to convey.
“Ah.” was all the man said.
He wanted to laugh to see such exuberance on the Jubilee Pokémon’s face.
“I—” The hesitance was back. “That…requires time.”
Togekiss frowned. ‘A year is considered time enough.’
He knew damn well that she was chastising him.
“I do love her!” Finally, the words Akari yearned for echoed in the alley. Alas, only a Pokémon was able to hear it. “I… She knows that.” Back was his smug, cocky attitude. “She knows damn well I love her since I clearly show it. Many times with the help I do ever since we live together and many, many, many times with my body.”
   Togekiss looked utterly unimpressed.
It was a stab to his pride.
“Togekiss, I—” He stopped, then huffed. “I will—tell her.” Admitting defeat, Volo waved his hands. “I will. Soon.”
The muscles above her right eye was raised.
   “As soon as possible.”
A single tilt of her head was given.
   Another sigh. “Tonight.”
   Finally, Togekiss chirped in glee.
Truly, he couldn’t win with her.
Relishing on her jubilance, Volo casually stood up and wiped the dirt off his butt. “Well then, since my persistent friend is encouraging me, who am I to deny—?”
“I’m so glad you’re here, Akari.”
The sound of a familiar voice saying a dear name stopped Volo in his tracks.
He didn’t know when he started moving. He didn’t know when his head started turning. He didn’t even realize Togekiss chirping in surprise as he walked past her.
Once grey eyes spotted them, he felt his breathing hitch uncontrollably.
There she was. His Akari. His beloved. Having her arm around Rei. Standing so close as the young man leaned against her.
His muscles tensed. His thoughts numbed. One hand that was pressed on a wooden wall curled slowly, roughly until nails scraped against the thick material of wood. His heart raced. Screamed. Howled. Banged madly inside his chest, bellowing for freedom. His breathing grew ragged, flaring through nostrils before seething through gritted teeth. A shadow loomed on his face, hiding what’s left that blonde bangs had covered.
Eyes were wide as saucers. Pupils shrunk madly, shaking as he watched her hold his hand.
Togekiss quickly hopped next to him. Surprise widened her eyes to see the topic of their conversation. ‘Oh, there she is!’ she chirped, giving a little bounce. ‘Do you want to go and say hell…’ She looked up at him, voice then dulled to a murmur as she saw his manic expression. ‘…o…’
Neither a response nor reply was given.
In a blink of an eye, Volo turned around, snatched his backpack, and marched away on the other side of the alley.
   Horror immediately dawned upon her.
‘Oh no…’ Sensing pure malice that emanated from her dear friend, Togekiss quickly took flight towards him. ‘Oh no no…’
Deep in her heart, the Jubilee Pokémon prayed for the impossible.

His Gaze | FWS
His gaze was void of emotion.
He stared from afar. Stared as the man he called father gave his speech. Words became empty breaths as they parted through pale lips. No emotion gleamed in such a face. Even the calm colour of blue irises dulled immensely under the sun’s brilliant glow.
He didn’t move a muscle. Not once. Not a step.
Only the sight of his chest moving calmly was any indication of his living. His breathing just as silent, he watched as the man gave a boastful roar that shattered the audience’s confidence on what they used to believe in.
Yes. This was for the Pokémon. This was always for the Pokémon.
Suddenly, he felt a soft touch on his left palm.
Finally, the man moved. His head lowered; gaze fallen on the Purrloin who purred and nuzzled his warm palm. The Pokémon was quite friendly. Even though they just met, the very fact that the man was able to communicate with him easily earned Purrloin’s trust.
“Lend me your strength,” the mysterious man requested an hour ago. While the bond they shared was temporary, the Purrloin was more than happy to lend a paw.
The sight twitched a smile on the man’s face.
   The speech finally ended.
As he watched his father and fellow grunts walk away from the park, he also observed the people in it. Opinions were heard. Thoughts were scattered. Some agreed with what his father declared. Some already started to bid farewell to the Pokémon who deserved better than mere subjugation.
Some however were still hesitant, saying that they would never break a bond they had made with their beloved Pokémon.
   Foolish.
   It was what he thought.
Lips in a straight line, he moved a few steps forward. The crowd started to lessen, but the man kept a distance in order to ease his comfort. It was then that he started hearing the voices of Pokémon as well.
Some chirped their goodbyes. Some barked their confusion. Some even stayed quiet, unmoving in their Pokéballs as their fellow humans discussed their freedom.
   Selfish.
   It was what he thought—
‘I’m never leaving you, Touko! That’s a promise!’
   Eyes widened. Pupils shrunk.
Such a confession truly caught him off guard. Actual movement was given from the man; head turned left and right to find the source of the voice. It sounded young, yet brimmed with confidence that could rival a fully-evolved Pokémon.
Finally, he caught sight of two teenagers.
They were a few steps away. A boy and a girl.
One boy had his back turned on him. A Snivy was seen clinging to his right leg. While the Grass Snake Pokémon didn’t say a word, he was seen nodding his head in vigor at whatever the other Pokémon was saying.
The boy and Pokémon were facing a girl. In her arms was an Oshawott, face boasting with pride as he crossed his little arms and cocked his head high.
‘This bond we have is special!’ It was the Oshawott’s voice that squeaked. ‘No way some stupid speech about liberation is gonna make me leave my trainer. She’s the best!’ His white little paw pounded on his chest, right at the hard shell that was positioned right in the center. The sight was apparently amusing for the two humans for they started to laugh.
The particular girl laughed the loudest. Left arm cradling the Oshawott’s bottom, she had her right hand scratching the Sea Otter Pokémon’s cheek. The action only made the Pokémon smile wider, voices now bursting with coos and squeaks of affection. Unable to handle how adorable the Pokémon was, the girl brought it closer to her face and snuggle him.
   The laughter rang louder.
He looked at her, pupils dilated slightly at the female trainer. Her hair was a long brown and was tied to a high ponytail. Her arms looked slim, yet he could guess her strength based on how long she had carried the water Pokémon. Even with a hat on her head and the long brown bangs on the sides of her face, he was able to see her.
   A silent gasp escaped him.
Her smile was bright. So bright. White teeth flashed in his gaze, brilliantly blinding him until he could see nothing else but her. The sound of her laugh was sanguine. Despite the gloomy aura the speech had given to some, it seemed that it didn’t bother her the least. Even though the girl couldn’t understand what the Pokémon in her arms had just said, amazement held him still to see such confidence, knowing that their friendship wouldn’t dissolve so easily.
   “You’re so cute!”
   He heard her speak.
“I’m never leaving you, buddy. You’re family to me now!”
   Mouth parted. Chest ached.
   Ba-dump!
He didn’t know when. He didn’t know how. But as his gaze fell on her, he felt his feet move forward.
   Towards them. Towards her.
As he approached, he watched as the two Pokémon sensed his arrival first. Immediately, the two were on guard; the Snivy stood before the spectacled boy and the Oshawott assumed a jumping position out of the girl’s embrace.
The man stopped just a step away.
The two trainers turned to meet his intimidating height. Confusion hovered above their heads with wary eyes gleaming under the sunlight.
“Can we help you?” the girl asked, voice now cold and absent of the joy that burst a few minutes ago.
The man wanted to hear her laugh again; he didn’t know why.
Blue eyes looked at the Oshawott in her arms, then at her.
“Your Pokémon,” he broke the heavy silence, voice low and husky, “he just spoke. He said that that you two have a special bond.”
Confusion merely intensified on the two trainers’ faces while shock flashed in the Pokémon’s eyes.
Without waiting for a reply, he continued, “I am N.”
That was all he said. And as he did, blue eyes still remained on the girl.
“I…see.” The other boy spoke. “I’m Cheren. And this is my friend, Touko.” One hand adjusting his glasses, Cheren waved one hand to the girl beside him.
   Words were never exchanged.
Feeling awkward at the exchange, the girl—Touko—decided to say something. “So…what did you just say again?” Curious and wary at the odd man, Touko raised a single eyebrow. “About Isaac saying something?” Of course, she couldn’t believe that the man before them understood Pokémon. She figured he was just a strange person looking for a conversation starter.
But after a few heartbeats of not replying anything, Touko assumed that wasn’t the case.
   “Battle me.”
Instead, stupor slapped her silly at the request. “I—what?”
Again, the man frustratingly didn’t repeat his words. However, he did repeat it with actions as he pointed directly at her. In a silent signal, the Purrloin that watched the whole ordeal from afar scurried forward, then readied himself in a battling position right between his new friend and the female trainer.
Confusion only thickened between the two trainers.
That confusion lasted a few seconds however as the Oshawott—Isaac—finally hopped out of Touko’s arms and assumed an attack position as well. ‘You’re on,’ he chirped, paw holding his shell and flashing a cocky grin at his opponent.
Taking her starter’s stance as accepting the battle, Touko let out a sigh. “Okay then.” Shrugging once, she fixed her cap and tilted her head in pride.
To see both human and Pokémon mimic each other so well, N felt his breath hitch.
The corners of his mouth never moved, but lips did purse to see such a sight.
With a single slight of his hand, the battle began.
His gaze was full of her.

A Berry Intense Couple | Volokari (Smut)
Togekiss, by nature, was a Pokémon that thrived off people’s happiness.
It was truly a glorious Pokémon. Feathered in a body of pure white and glittered with colours of red and blue on them, one almost found them festive if they decided to appear on joyous festivals. A Togekiss’ smile was always blooming, always bringing smiles and laughter to Pokémon and people alike. While some humans still feared Pokémon for the beast that they were, Togekiss was one of the very few creatures that people sought peace and harmony.
Not many knew about the beautiful Pokémon. Not a scant saw this rare Pokémon, but when they did, many explained that they felt inexplicable joy bloom in their hearts.
To be able to see a Togekiss would be blessing from Arceus above.
   “I can’t believe you!”
That was…until one menacing merchant decided to live and make peace with the world he was in.
One woman stomped into the village entrance, stunning the gatekeepers in a mixture of bafflement and confusion. Another man followed her suit, steps not as haughty but expression cold with a glare that could pierce through very metal.
   “You were being careless.”
   She stopped.
One heel turned, jet black eyes drawn daggers at the tall man before her. “I was being careless?” One hand slapped her chest. “I wasn’t the one who riled up a pack of wild Paras and Parasect!” A huff was given. Harsher. Rougher as the man rolled his eyes.
   The audacity.
“Don’t you feel a little bit guilty that you almost had those poor Galaxy members almost killed?” The question was toned down—just a bit—so that it wouldn’t rise suspicion from the other villagers. Arceus forbid that he already had a target on his back the second he came back into Jubilife Village.
However, Akari almost had half a mind to raise the question again in a higher pitch when she saw his guiltless grunt.
“They’re alive.” was all Volo said.
   Arceus, he pissed her off.
“They can’t see for a month!” Words seethed through gritted teeth. “Volo, if it weren’t for my quick thinking, those poor members would be blind forever.” Oh, how she wished she could smack some senses into that pretty face. “The mission also almost failed because you decided to show up out of the blue.”
Arms crossed; Volo held back a twitch from his fingers. “The mission, my dear—” He leaned forward, dull gray eyes widened right at her, “—would have taken forever to complete if weren’t for me being there at the right place and the right time.” He saw her anger fume. He found it utterly adorable.
He also found it absolutely dangerous as the sight made his lips loose.
“If it wasn’t for me…you might take a whole year to finally fucking come home…”
The second Volo saw her eyes widen, he knew he fucked up.
“Are you for real?!” She shouldn’t be surprised. Akari didn’t even know why she’s still surprised. “I was on a mission! I told you I wouldn’t be home for 12 days!” Mouth dropped agape. One foot slid backwards—both out of shock and out of the power to stop herself from really smacking him in the face.
   “I didn’t say I agreed.”
Oh, for fuck’s— “Yes you did!”
   “I can’t remember.”
   “VOLO!”
While the two humans bickered and fought and practically made a scene for themselves, two Pokémon only stood and looked from a few steps away. One was clearly hovering in distress while the other yawned in absolute boredom.
‘They don’t look happy,’ Togekiss chirped woefully, wings flapping up and down in wild rhythms.
‘No.’ Belial bit back a grin to see his Akari finally raising her right hand.
‘We need to do something!’ The Jubilee Pokémon squeaked louder when she saw Volo quickly held Akari’s right wrist. Togekiss was stuck between hovering back and forth, wanting to end their strife but lost on the ideas to end it—
‘That’s it!’ Suddenly, an idea popped in her mind. Her voice finally broke Belial’s attention from their wielders—who were now pulling off an odd dance of Akari trying to stomp Volo’s feet and the man nimbly dodging every step.
Momentarily lost in her plan, Togekiss looked at the Hisuian Tyhplosion. ‘Berries! Berries always make me happy!’ A wide smile shined on her face. ‘When Volo was upset in the past, I used to cheer him up with some berries!’
Blood red eyes blinked at the cheerful Pokémon. ‘I don’t—’
   “Fuck you!”
Akari’s voice not only cut Belial off, but it also became the last straw on Togekiss’ resolution. ‘I’ll be right back!’ Black eyes briefly looked at her friends, though the sight of Volo now gripping both of Akari’s wrists and lightly lifting the violently—and hilariously—shaking woman did almost break her smile.
   Almost.
‘Keep an eye on them for me!’ Giving a quick peck on Belial’s muzzle, she quickly flew off to the nearest berry tree.
------------------------------
   ‘I’m back!’
Curled comfortably on the front porch, he looked upwards. ‘Welcome back, darling.’ A smile, honest and true, was given at her presence.
With a fairly thick branch full of berries gripped on her talons, Togekiss carefully landed in front of him. ‘I hope I wasn’t too long! I brought a lot!’ She then hovered before him, proudly showing him the literal fruits of her labour.
Belial only flashed a lazy smile.
‘Now,’ Remembering why she took the trouble to find the berries in the first place, Togekiss looked around, ‘where are those two? This will surely cheer them up!’
His lazy smile was then pursed.
‘Ah,’ He lifted his head, red eyes darted to the closed front door behind him, ‘about them…’
   “Fuck!”
Volo’s voice from inside the house was heard, and it was enough to fuel the Jubilee Pokémon with panic once again. ‘I’m coming, Volo!’ Without haste, she spread her wings and took flight.
…Or was about to if it wasn’t for Belial holding the branch.
The action made her stop. Confusion now mixed anew as she looked at him. ‘Belial, let go. Volo and Akari need these berries to calm down and feel happy again!’
Thinking that he would listen and let go, Togekiss instead huffed questioningly as the male shook his head.
‘They don’t need them, my dear.’ Gently, the Typhlosion tugged the branch down, which made Togekiss hover downwards to his eye level. Belial now stood on his hind legs, paw releasing the branch. ‘I mean, they might need it for later.’
Confusion now slowly shadowed over her worries.
‘Meaning?’ she chirped, head tilted to the left and eyes switched between her mate and the noises from inside the house.
Sometimes, Belial found her oblivious nature to be quite adorable.
------------------------------
“Do you know how fucking—” Pap! “—lonely I was to wake up every morning to see you not by my side?!” In and out and in and out he fucked her hard. Callous hands gripped her waist, fingers pressing into her skin as he pushed and pulled her to his very desire.
Words were void from the woman under him. An aching back arched to feel the tip of cock deep inside of her. Hands numbly gripped the futon below them, nails digging deep into the soft material.
“V-Vo—ahh—!” A pitchy moan was expelled as he hit a favourite spot. Eyes hazed and tears glistened in each corner, Akari released her grip and reached towards him with one hand. “V-Volo—close—clo—f-fuck—!” She felt her walls tightened. She felt his movements roughened. Slim, strong legs were raised as he leaned towards her. Toes curled deliciously as Akari felt him moving roughly and harshly.
To see such a feverish gaze. To see such a jutted tongue.
   Pap!
Volo could only see himself in her beautiful black eyes.
   Pap, pap, pap!
He loved it. “You’re mine.” To know that she loved him and only him. “No one else’s.” To know that she chose him after all they went through. “Akari…Aka—aa—ri…!” To know that she had opened his once dead heart. “Akari, Akari, Akari, Akari, Akari, Akari, Akari, Akari, Akari—!”
   He loved her very much.
One hand released his grip on her waist, palm nimbly tracing down her stomach. “You’re mine…” His movements staggered. “Take me—” His hips slammed harder. “Take all of me!” Excellent fingers toyed and flicked her soaked clit. Wet, dirty sounds only drove him delirious, making him pinch and flick her clit harder until she exhaled a long moan of his name. “Akari—!”
The same hand moved upwards, sought solace with her own.
Leaning his face against her neck, Volo stilled. Strings of cum spurted inside of her, filling her womb with promise that she would never, ever leave his side.
Eyes rolled to the back, Akari saw white as she came after him. Legs voluntarily locked around his hips, locking him in place with promise that they would always, always be together. A silent moan followed suit, body trembling from head to toe and her pussy pulsated around his throbbing cock.
The scent of sex and sweat filled the room. In perspective, it should disgust the fuck out of her.
   “Akari…”
Instead, it only made her heart race at the many reminders of her passionate lovemaking.
After a few shaky breaths, Volo slowly pulled himself up. Elbows rested on either side of her head. Gray eyes met a pair of dazzling blacks. Pale, parted lips huffed out heavy air that caressed her own wet mouth.
She found it silly to have Butterfrees in her stomach while also having his cock deep inside of her.
Bursting a giddy giggle, Akari gently cupped his left cheek. “I love you.” Her smile curled at the corners. “Clingy man.”
That tickled a chuckle from said man above her.
Ah, it’s sometimes frustrating to know her body trembled at the sight and sound.
“I love you too…” Carefully, Volo leaned forward. A kiss, soft and sweet, was bestowed upon smiling lips. “Stubborn woman.”
------------------------------
While Togekiss didn’t need to see to know what was going on, the sounds and noises alone were more than enough to put two and two together.
A serene sigh was released. ‘At least they’re happy again.’ Truly, those two could be the most volatile humans she had ever met.
Togekiss then felt a gentle bump on her right wing.
‘I’m sure they’ll appreciate the berries for dinner later.’ Tucked on all fours, Belial nuzzled into the soft white feathers. The action brought out a giggle from the female, and this only made his smile bigger.
‘Yeah…’ Reassured that those two weren’t fighting anymore, Togekiss hopped closer and nuzzled Belial’s cheek with her own.
Togekiss, by nature, was a Pokémon that truly thrived off people’s happiness.
Even if that happiness came from the most intense couple in Hisui.

Playful Star | SGAO
   The stars were pretty tonight.
Aoi adjusted her seat on the bench. While the area she was in was quite secluded, it wasn’t that barren. The amount of noise that she heard was plenty from afar, but it was still peaceful enough for her to have a peace of mind.
   “Aoi.”
   Ba-dump!
Ah, there was also another reason.
Head turned to the left; black eyes twinkled in glee at the presence of one boy. “That’s me,” she casually replied, voice lilted with a gleeful chirp.
   Ba-dump!
Oh, he truly couldn’t be calm around her.
Trembled mouth pursed to hide back a giddy laugh. “Here you go,” he calmly said, one hand handing out a water bottle. Once it was out of his grasp, Kieran took a seat next her.
   His eyes never left her.
   “Thank you.”
He saw her smile. It was charming, Beautiful. Enticing even.
The little distance they had were too far. Too far.
One finger pushing the rim of her glasses, Aoi uncapped the bottled water. Facing the beautiful view of the hills and meadow in front of them, she took a gulp of water.
Amber eyes darted to her throat. It bobbed lightly as water slid down her throat. Pupils dilated slightly—just the slightest—as he kept his gaze fixated on the beautiful sight. It was then that thoughts bubbled in his mind. A thought of what it was like to brush his fingers on the smooth skin of her neck. A thought of the faint scent of vanilla that might have come from her every time they were close. A thought of making a cute necklace so that he could place it around her neck.
A thought of his mouth, parted and lightly panting, placed on her neck—
   “Kieran?”
Pupils shrunk at the sound of her voice.
“Ah, yes?” Quickly, Kieran recollected himself. His back straightened. Strands of black and violet hair draped down his face at the minor jolt he had given himself.
Aoi handed him the half-empty bottle. “Do you want some?” With a small smile, she lightly shook the bottle. The water in it sloshed quietly, attracting the boy’s attention only for a mere second.
She didn’t realize. Thank Arceus, she didn’t realize.
His mouth remained agape. However, after a second blink, he swiftly pressed his lips shut and coughed meekly. “S-Sure…” Gloveless hand took the bottle. Their fingers brushed, and Kieran felt like scolding himself to feel his heart scraping its way out of his ribcage. Without a thought, he gulped the rest of the contents down.
“So, what’s on your mind, Kieran?”
A loud cough basically broke out by the sudden question.
Surprise and guilt shook the girl. Immediately, Aoi rubbed his back. “Sorry! Didn’t mean to startle you!” Tease him? Yes, constantly. Scare him? Not really.
Cheeks flushed in embarrassment, Kieran softly tapped his chest. “It’s not you.” It’s me, damn it. “I just…” Ah, what reason would he give after showing such a shameful reaction? Wet lips pursed. Hand holding the bottle tightened. Kieran looked up at the beautiful night sky.
Black eyes glistened behind mottled sunglasses.
Aoi was a patient girl. Well, more patient than Nemona, that’s for sure. Anticipation always became her drive to do anything. Determination was a solid pillar that she sat atop on. She was often a playful person, good with words and easy with smiles. The many reasons for her fame in Naranja Academy weren’t just because of her battling prowess. Aoi had a natural charm about her that made her loved and respected by many. She had many traits about herself; some she already knew and some she was still realizing.
And ever since she reunited with Kieran, Aoi started to learn another thing about her: Greedy.
She looked at him, heart a flitter and eyes a flutter. Feeling a bit devilish, the girl scooted closer.
   Their hands touched.
She felt mean if she were to giggle at his adorable grumble.
“I—!” Finally, he looked at her, a cute frown accompanied by beet red cheeks. “It’s nothing, Aoi…” Decided that he had enough of embarrassing himself over his huge crush, the boy huffed.
   Fuck, he was too cute!
“Come on.” Never one to give up, Aoi playfully nudged his shoulder with her own. “Tell me.” She knew that if she pressed further, he would eventually relent. A smile swirled into something impish, she nudged him again.
Kieran knew what she was doing. This was not the first time.
“Mmm mmm.” He shook his head. Despite his insistence, Kieran never moved away. Hell, his right hand sheepishly grasped her left hand, fingers traced and laced together until they’re intertwined.
Her lower lip jutted out. “Tell me, Kieran.” She bumped his shoulder again. Her left fingers gave a little squeeze, and Aoi wanted to whimper to feel his fingers squeezing and brushing her own back.
Amber met black. Even hidden behind sunglasses, Kieran gulped to see the dazzling sparkle of her eyes. “Nothing,” was all he said, head then turned to face the meadow before them.
Like him, she never gave up that easily.
“Tell meeeee,” she started whining. Unbecoming of Champion that struck terror and awe into the hearts of her opponents, Aoi gently bumped her forehead against his right shoulder. “Pretty please?” She looked up, eyes twinkling at the sight of the boy she loved so much.
   He didn’t budge.
She was both impressed and annoyed.
It was then that she decided to use her secret weapon.
Without a word, she took off her sunglasses—one would wonder why the hell the girl was wearing sunglasses in the first place at night—and placed them on an empty spot on her right. She let her left fingers be remained in his grasp; he wasn’t planning on letting go anyways. Black eyes now clearer under the glistening gleam of the moon, Aoi gave a firm stare at Kieran.
One second, he was quietly curious at her actions.
The next, a scream almost did peep out to feel his shoulder being pulled and lips brushing the shell of his right ear.
   “Pretty please, sweetheart?”
Oh, that was the last straw.
Aoi should be proud at what she could do to him. She should be huffing in pride that she could break the boy—in a good way—with her actions and words. She should be standing at the highest peak in the Terrarium for being the only person to see Kieran in his most adorable state.
Alas, that delight died in a ditch once she felt her body being pulled closer.
   “You ask for it.”
Black eyes widened. Mouth parted to a silent gasp at the feel of a warm mouth on her neck.
   Chup…
It was a cold night, yet her body felt warm very fast.
Taking advantage of her shock and indulging completely in his desire, Kieran wrapped her waist with his free arm. Mouth gasping like a thirsty man, chup…he planted another kiss on her neck.
   She smelled intoxicating.
Left hand slid upwards. Palm pressed firmly on her back. Eyes closed shut, Kieran nuzzled his nose on such soft skin. Her scent lit his heart ablaze. She must’ve had taken a shower a few hours, for she smelled fresh and warm. Lost in a haze of hunger, he continued pressing little pecks on her neck.
Chu… One right below her left ear.
Chu… One on a spot close to her vein.
Chuuu… One on the line of her collarbone.
   She was soft. So soft.
   She smelled nice. So nice.
Hot lips stayed on a spot on her neck, so close to where her throat bobbed frantically. He cupped a single spot, silent and still as a single thought raced through his mind.
   She was his. All his.
   “K-Kieran…”
   Amber eyes snapped open.
Realization hitting him like a brick, Kieran immediately let her go. “I—sorry!” Hands were raised up in her air, palms spread as they levelled on either side of his head.
Amidst the darkness that enveloped around them, he could clearly see such vivid crimson on her face.
Aoi looked at him, eyes just as popping and mouth pressed tight. Hands flew to hot cheeks, thumbs brushing over hotter spots that Kieran had kissed. In all honesty, never would she have expected him to ambush her in such an attack. Yes, ever since they reunited and made up, Aoi could see that the boy had potential to be irrational and volatile.
She knew that and yet, she still pressed his buttons.
   “Are you angry at me…?”
Blown-out pupils looked at the darling Blueberry trainer she loved so much. He looked so guilty. So sad.
Ah, she felt like doing it again.
Hands dropped to her lap, Aoi coughed meekly. Trying to don a mask of dignity that failed fabulously, she fixed her gaze at him. “No,” she swiftly replied, wanting to remove the sense of guilt and sorrow that he solely did not deserve.
She watched as he breathed a sigh of relief.
A smile was bitten back. Poorly.
“I mean, I did ask.” Braver of the two, Aoi sheepishly held his hands. Not once did he flinch at her touch, and this only bloomed the joy in her rapidly beating heart. “And I did get my answer.” Eyes still locked on his adorably red face. She brought his right palm to her pretty pink lips.
   Chu.
His breathing hitched inside a suddenly dry throat.
   “Thank you for answering, sweetheart.”
A low groan rumbled in his mouth to see the beautifully sly smile hidden behind his palm.
Feeling both defeated and elated, Kieran once again pulled her closer. This time, the action was much gentler, much more obvious. This allowed Aoi to spread her arms wide open before happily wrapping them around his neck. His own arms, shaking still, hugged around her waist, around his favourite spot where his arms should be.
“You’re impossible, honey…” His voice, soft and shy, lulled closely to her right ear. The sound of her laughter only made him tighten his hold. Breathing out a sigh—which then made her shiver slightly—Kieran rested his chin on her shoulder and slowly swayed their bodies left and right.
Her head cocked slightly by their height, Aoi flashed the brightest smile that rivalled the sun. “And you love me for that juuust like how much I love you.”
Ah, how her heart screamed in utmost glee to hear his soft, affectionate, “I know. And I really love you. Very much.”
The stars were truly pretty tonight.

Irresolute Feelings (Chapter 4) | Volokari
   ‘NO!’
Purple flames sped and crashed violently against everything it could hit.
   BANNNG!
One slammed against the iron pot that dangled above the hearth. It swayed roughly, yet was still able to hang on despite the dusty soot that was now splattered on the pot. Flickers of flames dropped onto the used wood, sending sparks that popped and crackled as if it was hissing.
   CRRASH!!
One crashed against the body mirror in their room, making the item wobble and the glass shatter. The reflection of one lone woman and a horrifying Pokémon were spread into bits, distorting their images that mirrored the lone woman’s shattered heart.
   BOOM!
Another exploded through the partitions that provided a barricade between the room and main dining area. A flare of fire circled on the ruined shoji papers, colouring what was once pure white into bloody purple.
   SLAM—BANG!!
The last one slammed roughly—harshly—against an invisible barrier. One that had been quickly formed between the Hisuian Typhlosion and his target.
Smoke of dust and black filled the room. The windows of the wooden house were opened—thankfully—yet it wasn’t enough for both humans to gain proper oxygen. Akari coughed weakly, throat ached and burned from the lack of air and strained muscles.
Volo, dizzy as he was still, coughed louder. His vision still blurred. His heart raced maniacally at the thought that this would be his last day on this wretched planet. Blonde hair a disarray, he fumbled on his butt, grey eyes then widened to see the back of his beloved friend.
The smoke slowly dissipated. The Hisuian Typhlosion stood upright, head cocked upwards and sharp eyes glared at the one who protected the monster.
‘Move, darling.’ Belial muttered. Calmly. Coldly.
Togekiss didn’t say a peep. Her glare matched his own as she strengthened the barrier in front of her.
‘I said—’ Blood red eyes shrunk as he looked behind Togekiss, ‘—move, darling.’
‘And I said no.’ Finally, she spoke up. Gone was the cheerful chirp that always rang in his ears. Togekiss planted her tiny feet onto the ground. Her wings were spread apart, feathers ruffled wildly as tension rose high between them. Black eyes cast a short glance at the befuddled human behind her, rising up a sense of guilt and sorrow that she quickly swallowed down.
   ‘Togekiss.’
There it was. His voice. Icy and almost deathly. Void of the nickname she grew to love so much.
A part of her heart broke at the situation they were in. At Akari’s state. At Volo’s absolute foolishness.
But she swallowed it all. Togekiss knew that if she let her guard down—that if she let her shield down—the happy life they lived now would be incinerated until there’s nothing left.
Taking a deep breath, she looked at her mate.
‘Belial,’ she said, voice clear and steady, ‘you know killing Volo isn’t going to fix the problem.’
She saw his fur frazzle madly at the sound of Volo’s name.
‘Oh?’ He enlightened her, voice lilted playfully with distrust and distaste. ‘And how do you that, darling?’ He kept his stance, tall and menacing. ‘If killing him isn’t the answer, then I guess him killing my Akari is?’
A low growl, deep and haunting, echoed inside the barren room.
Togekiss felt Volo shiver behind her. ‘You know that’s not sure.’ Her voice was still calm. She had to be. ‘There’s a misunderstanding. I tried to stop Volo but he needs more convincing that requires human speech.’ She watched as a grim chuckle mixed with purple flames seeped through a tight mouth. ‘I thought—I just thought that Akari could get through him—’
   ‘He didn’t.’
His frigid bark ultimately cut her off.
Anger still fueled the Hisuian Typhlosion. While Togekiss tried to get through him, all he could see was the pathetic human that was unrightfully protected.
‘He didn’t.’ Red eyes glanced at his human.
Akari was still shaken. Still frozen as she knelt weakly. One hand held her jaw, fingers brushing the light bruises that started to appear. Her eyes were red with tears. Her mouth was agape, yet words were failed to form, instead replaced with sobs that cracked his very heart.
   ‘He…didn’t…’ Pupils shook into dots.
Feeling his sanity burning into a crisp, Belial glared forward—glared at the cause of all this.
‘All he did was HURT HER!’ Another roar shook the wooden walls. ‘All he ever does—from the moment they met—is bring her pain!’ He no longer saw his beloved mate that stared at him in utter shock. ‘Akari was thrown into our time against her will, yet she has the holy kindness to help people and Pokémon around her! She could’ve hide and protect herself when every single Pokémon was out to kill her! She could’ve abandoned everyone when the humans betrayed her! She could’ve gone when she found out her world is gone FOREVER!’
His roar shook the walls again. Purple flames flared majestically around the back of his neck. Each scream. Each reminder. All only heightened the alluring fire that could almost reach the ceiling.
Pieces of the mirror dropped onto the tatami mat. Pieces of the mirror showed a reflection of Akari, hands now cupping her ears and mouth painfully pressed to a shaking frown.
‘All she wanted was to be happy!’
Red eyes shook. White fangs bared.
Belial still remembered. He remembered how the humans jeered and shunned her when the sky turned red. He remembered how Volo laughed and threatened to have her dead at the Temple of Sinnoh. He remembered how her mind, body, and soul were ripped into pieces by the cruel, cruel reality.
He remembered. He remembered, he remembered, he remembered!
‘All she wanted was to be happy…’
All those times. All those horrifying times!
   ‘She just…’
   Afraid.
   ‘She—I…’
    He was afraid.
   ‘I just…want her to be happy…’
Belial was afraid that one day…
One day…he suddenly had to purify her soul before she could leave this world forever.
Red eyes shook as vision blurred.
Volo and Togekiss watched as the fire starter broke down. One gaped in silent disbelief while the other bit down a quivering sob.
   Silence haunted the hollow air.
Ever since his evolution, his heart no longer beat. But after a second, deep breath, Belial looked forward.
Gone was his usual, charming smile. He kept his gaze on his mate, undead heart ironically twisting in pain to see sorrow flashing in her beautiful dark eyes.
Both Pokémon still stood their ground. None refused to move. None refused to back down.
‘Belial…’ Togekiss murmured, voice wavered dolefully. ‘I promise you: I want what’s best for both of them.’ Her shield was gleaming, silently telling the starter that it wasn’t disappearing anytime soon. ‘If… If Volo continues to hurt Akari. Or if Akari doesn’t want him anymore…’ The Jubilee Pokémon looked over her shoulder, seeing her friend who had been silent in complete bafflement.
A deep breath was released through her mouth. ‘We will leave.’ She then looked at the woman behind Belial. Her hands were already down, and Togekiss’ frown only deepened to see the human she grew to love so much.
Finally, she looked at her beloved. ‘And we will do whatever it takes to escape from you. Even if it means fighting you again.’
Belial never moved from his position. However, the corner of his eye twitched at the possibility.
Ah, who knew that his heart was still alive, after all?
The male didn’t say a word. He kept his gaze on Togekiss. He refused to look away. He couldn’t. He loved Akari dearly—eternally. But to grasp the reality that he may never see Togekiss again truly put a damper on his spirit.
Truly, Volo was a man who could never bring happiness.
Closing his eyes, Belial opened his mouth—
   “Please…enough…”
Red eyes snapped open at the voice he loved so much.
Quickly, he looked at her. After having a few moments of calmness, regret seeped deeply at the fact that he had made her sadder. ‘Akari!’ Finally, the Ghost Flame Pokémon broke his stance and rushed towards her.
A few seconds later, Togekiss finally got rid of her Protect. A huge sigh was released, and she swiftly flew towards Volo while looking at the pair in front of them.
‘Akari…!’ His voice was gentle. It always had been around her. ‘Akari, where are you hurt?’ he cooed and whimpered, muzzle gently bumping her right arm.
To feel his comfort now. To witness his destruction a few minutes ago. Akari felt as if she was about to lose her mind. “Please, Belial…” Her voice was a mere whimper. “I… Thank you, but I’m fine.” She had to be. She needed to be.
Belial wanted to remind her that she didn’t need to be.
‘I’m sorry…’ he murmured woefully. ‘I’m truly sorry…’ The Hisuian Typhlosion nuzzled under her arm. He gingerly bumped his muzzle against her bruised cheek. A soft purr was emitted as well in hopes that it would calm her. It hopes that it reminded her that he was here for her.
Ah, tears couldn’t stop flowing tonight.
“Belial…” A crack could not be hidden even if she wanted to. Arms weakly hugged his head. “Thank you. I love you…” A warm kiss was bestowed on the stop of his head. “I love you… I love you…” Her hands shook. Her voice wavered. “But I need to be alone right now.”
   Belial tensed.
Even in a distance, Togekiss could see he didn’t love the idea.
Akari could sense it as well. “Please…” Palms cupped his fuzzy cheeks. Taking a deep breath, determined eyes locked onto a pair of beautiful crimsons. “Let me be alone right now…” She appreciated what her Pokémon had done for her. She was truly blessed to see what her Pokémon had sacrificed for her.
She loved them. She loved them very much.
Tears streamed down a scarred cheek as her smile wavered.
“Please…” The plea was barely a whimper. Barely a sound.
It broke what was once his heart.
Gone was his smile again. To see her eyes puffed up and red. To see her cheeks flushed and bruised. Only a fool would decide to leave her in such a state.
Alas, he was a fool who cherished his friend.
He knew he had done his part. He knew he couldn’t do anything more.
And it frustrated him to no end.
He watched as she sniffed silently. Red eyes were slowly shut. A low growl vibrated behind a pursed mouth.
Carefully, he looked at his beloved human.
Without a word, Belial licked her left cheek.
The tears tasted salty. He hated it.
A forlorn smile was given. Respecting Akari’s wish, Belial diffused out of his solid figure and zoomed out of the room.
Right next to Togekiss. Right next to Volo.
As he whipped past him, Volo shivered coldly at the pair of soulless red eyes that glared at him.
   ‘Volo.’
Whether or not Togekiss realized the eerie communication, she chirped to get Volo’s attention.
The blonde man flinched at her sound. Even with such a sweet and soft coo, Volo knew the situation he put themselves in deserved a harsh scolding at best—and death at worst. Lips tightened to a single line, he looked at her.
How hypocritical of him to feel sorrowful at the sight of her frown.
‘Don’t—’ Togekiss was never one to be angry. Even with all of Volo’s flaws. Even with all of his mistakes. The Jubilee Pokémon accepted and loved him for who he was. Even when the human wanted to destroy the world they lived in, if it means seeing his happiness, then Togekiss was willing to subjugate to such demands and bring his friend the future he deserved.
   But this…
‘Please…do not—’ Her coo was sharp, ‘—mess this up again.’
   Her frown stayed.
Upon seeing such a cold glare, Volo truly felt fear prickling his skin.
He gave a single nod. Slow and calculated.
Thankfully, she knew him better than anyone.
Before she flew away, Togekiss looked at Akari.
Her body was shivering. Her eyes never met their way.
It killed Togekiss. It truly did.
But she also knew: in order for the two to reconcile, they needed to talk it out without any more intervention.
Her pure heart prayed for the best. Without another word, she gallantly took flight and left the comfort of their own little house.

Irresolute Feelings (Chapter 5/END) | Volokari (Smut)
   Stupor held the man still.
He had watched his Togekiss talk—or rather, chirp—with the demonic beast. He remembered her voice being louder than usual, her squeaks being shaken and cracked as she communicated with the ghoulish Pokémon. Smoke and dust muddled his senses. Volo had been coughing and wheezing, mind failed to register that he should have cupped his mouth and nose.
Instead, his mind reminded him of the horrors of black, purple flames.
He was thankful for Togekiss’ speed, truly he was. If it weren’t for her, Volo knew that there would be nothing left of him.
No charred body. No molded mass. No ash nor soot. Nothing.
His lungs forced out another cough.
A flinch occurred at a taste of something metallic. A hiss then spat out at the feel of a tiny, gaping cut inside his cheek. The short, sharp pain grounded him back to earth as Volo cupped and hastily wiped his mouth. Spit instead escaped next once he realized both palms were dirty with dust and dirt. Quickly, he squeezed his eyes shut, head shaking furiously as a dull ache came knocking next.
The conversation between two Pokémon truly gave him time to recollect his senses. As much as anger and jealousy had blinded him, Volo knew regret would only loom and swallow the man whole if he were to ever lose Akari.
   Akari.
Realization finally made him bellow a croaked gasp.
As quick as he was to close his eyes, he was quicker to snap them wide open.
Palms slammed against the tatami mat. He looked forward.
There she was. His beloved. His saviour. His Chosen One. Curled on the floor and leaning limply against a wall.
As reality cleared his mind, regret truly did pierce deep into the very pit of his stomach.
Akari remained quiet. Shaking. Her knees were hugged. Arms that looked smaller than usual tightened their hold. Her head dropped; face hidden behind kneecaps. Locks of long, jet-black hair cascaded down the sides of her face. Fingers curled and clenched as she vainly tried to stop herself from trembling. The young woman only hunched lower, ignoring her back that begged for her to stop.
   She looked small. Frail. Broken.
Crack. It killed him. It truly did.
Not a single peep. Not a single sound.
He remained where he was. Bafflement fogged his mind. Guilt entangled his heart. Volo was at loss as to what he should do. Sweat trickled down the sides of his face. Blonde strands stuck to a sticky forehead, yet he couldn’t be bothered to move it away as all he could ever focus right now was her.
   Akari.
   Akari. Akari. Akari.
“A-A—” His mouth parted, her name dying at the tip of his tongue. “A…A-Aka—”
   “Leave.”
Grey eyes shrunk at the sound of her cold, choked voice.
That single word was all he needed, funny as it was, as Volo immediately sat up straight. “Akari—”
   “Leave.”
The word was clearer. His fear grew stronger.
Panic rose until bile felt like bubbling inside his throat. Volo was never one to show his vulnerability so easily. He had tucked them away perfectly behind the many masks he wore. Since the loss of his tribe, the man had made it his unsaid vow to never, ever, ever show such weakness in a world created by some unholy creature that dictated his life and death.
He was a master of deception. He was a master manipulator.
And yet, from the moment she appeared into his life, Volo soon realized that all his masks, all his vulnerabilities, all of them would lay bare for her to see.
   And now…
“A…Akari…!” In a daze of dread, Volo pushed himself up and cautiously approached the still woman. “Akari plea—”
   “I said LEAVE!”
   He froze.
He didn’t know when it happened. The second her voice shattered the atmosphere, Volo realized he was on his knees. Right hand had stretched in her direction, right towards the one whom he did not deserve. Fingers that reached out for her stayed perfectly still. Grey eyes shook; vision blurred at the sight of the one human he had hurt.
   Silence haunted the room again.
Not once did Akari raise her head. If anything, she dug her face deeper. Slow, labored breaths slurred out of pale, pink lips. The wound on her cheek strained right up to the corner of her right eye. A mild bruise on her jaw throbbed and ached, digging its pain straight to the sides of her head.
The pain meant nothing to her.
All of this was nothing to her.
“Just…” Her heart hurt more. “…leave…” Her heart was going through so much that breathing seemed like a hassle for her.
Arms hardened around her knees. She didn’t want to face him. She didn’t want to hear him. For Akari knew, if she were to see him right now, she couldn’t bear it. She would just spiral even further. Regret and longing would only swallow her sanity whole once again. Images of all her lost ones would only appear before her, surround her. They would stare at her, eerily taunt her with vile memories of their mangled corpses.
Black eyes shrunk and shook into dots.
   Whimpers turned to heavy pants.
Why was this happening to her?
All she ever wanted was to live a normal life. All she ever wanted was to have a fun Pokémon journey with her best friend. When all is said and done, all she ever wanted was to rest in a nice cozy home and make think back about the memories she made with her beloved people and Pokémon.
All of that. All of that sounded selfish once she was forced to appear in this timeline.
She did her best to survive. She did her best to adapt. Her kindness knows no bounds, and some people found that utterly foolish. Her sense of justice gave her hope, blinded her with a fantasy that she might be able to go back home once she finished her mission. Even when people shunned her. Even when Pokémon were trying to brutally kill her. Even when the man she so loved wanted her dead by his feet. Akari thought. Akari thought that if she proved herself, Arceus would take pride and give her what she wanted.
In a way, she both didn’t and did.
Alas, what Arceus gave, Arceus would take.
She felt suffocated. She couldn’t breathe.
All she ever wanted was to live a normal life! All she ever wanted was to be loved by those whom she found dear! All she ever wanted was to be with the one who would always remind her that her life was worth it! All she ever wanted was to LIVE—!
   Tearful eyes squeezed shut.
Why… She felt cold. Why me…? She felt suffocated.
   “Aka…ri…?”
   Ah.
   It’s his voice.
   It’s his voice again.
That soft, gentle voice. Void of the cold, cruel tone that clawed her many minutes ago, yet also absent of the gleeful chirp that often sent her heart a flutter.
   It now sounded weak. Frail.
   That was unfair.
“I…” He was unfair. “Vo—” He was truly a cruel, cruel man.
She couldn’t bear to say his name. Slowly, she shook her head. “Please…” Her plea strained too pathetically; she couldn’t find it in the shattered remains of her heart to care. “Don’t…” Her head remained low, yet Akari stifled a sob to be able to see the perfect image of her beloved.
His smile. His laugh. His touch. His kiss.
   Him.
“W-Why—” She was afraid. “—won’t you leave…” She was tired.
   “I…I won’t—”
   Her shaking ceased.
Her head wasn’t raised. Not yet. Not now.
The single reply—so meek and bleak—was enough to fuel fire inside the boiling pits of her stomach. How could he say such a thing? How could he manipulate her again? After all that’s said and done? Why was he such born so twisted that he must rip and stomp on her heart again after vowing to be together even when time and space stopped?
“Urgh—hic…” Thick tears blurred the image of his lovely smile. Nausea spread her throat apart, yet her body was too weak, too exhausted to drag itself to the nearest bin. Let vomit cover the mat for all she cared. Let blood spill in this room if it meant she could finally be at peace. If it wasn’t for Belial, Akari would actually find bliss in being free from this cruel, cruel reality.
She hated it. She hated that her heart still beat.
Arms tightened around her knees. Teeth clenched harder until the muscles in her jaw strained. It felt eternal. And then, it felt nothing. Her body soon grew limp. Her mind was drawing a complete blank. However, her head pounded until it felt heavy. Too heavy. If she were to pass out now, it would be for the best. At least she could rid herself of this terrible night even if it’s temporary—
   “I’m sorry…”
If the sound of his apology didn’t ground her back to reality, the feel of something touching her feet did.
As one woman froze in her place, one man had kneeled on all fours.
“I’m…sorry…” His forehead pressed against the cold tatami mat. Trembling hands brushed the tip of her toes, fingers gingerly brushing upwards. His whole body felt like lead. His heart felt like it had dropped to the very pits of a gurgling stomach. Eyes felt red. Vision turned blurry. They burned at each blink.
Memories of this morning tainted his mind. Fear disintegrated his rationality, further poisoning him with the very thought that Akari would be gone from his grasp. The very thought of losing her caused him to be breathless, mouth gaping and nose pressing hard against the tatami mat. What was once hate now bloomed to love, and it was an emotion Volo foolishly thought he had control over.
There he was hours ago, lamenting to his friend that losing Akari would be akin to losing a part of his soul.
Now, here he was, vainly begging for forgiveness he never deserved.
If she were to ever disappear, he once thought that he had Arceus to blame as this was punishment for the sins he had blighted upon the Alpha Pokémon.
But no. This was never Arceus’ doing.
Trembling hands slid upwards to her midfoot. Breathing grew rampant. Eyes grew wider.
His breathing stopped momentarily once he felt her feet being pulled away.
   Terrified. He was absolutely terrified.
   “I love you!”
Fear was also another emotion he couldn’t have control over. It was an emotion that instead took power over his very heart and mind.
Quickly he shot his head up, bloodshot eyes pleading at the stunned woman. Hands held her feet, palms pressed firmly against them as they continued to shake. “Akari, my dear—” A smile, manic and frail, tugged the corners of his lips. “I—I love you—!” A distorted laughed escaped through his bewilderment. Elbows pressing against the ground, Volo stared at her with a bloodshot gaze—
   “How…dare…you…”
Pupils shrunk at the fragile sound of her hiss.
“I—Wha…” Stupor left the man stunned in his place. And here he thought that the woman would rejoice. That his beloved would smile and laugh at finally hearing the words she so desperately wanted to hear.
   But no.
All he saw was an expression that boiled of pure, unbridled rage.
How could he, she thought. How could he? How could he?
After all these years. After all that they’d been through. All the nights Akari dreamed of hearing such words. All the days she reminded him in hopes that he would say the same. In the past, Akari would have trusted him. Her pitiful affection once blinded her for the bastard he really was. But once all that was said and done, the trainer decided to put the past behind them and start anew. She decided to trust him again—despite it all.
   But now…
   Now…
   Her eyes burned.
“…ow could y-you…” A sniffle. “After…A-After what you’ve done…You did all this—” A croak. “And…A-And…” Eyes strained to a glare at the baffled man in front of her. “When you know I’ve b-been waiting…for…” Her body shook again. Her teeth chattered weakly. “…that…” Tears soiled her vision once again. It hurt. It stung. But she didn’t care.
What a fool she was to fall for such a man.
“How could you—” Crack. “—lie to me now…”
   Crack!
Shaking pupils shrunk into dots. A sharp gasp escaped, faint but rough, rolling another wave of nausea down his throat.
“I’m not lying!” Pap! Both hands slammed against the mat. Through the small gap between them, Volo leaned towards her. “I truly, really love you—”
“LIAR!” she snapped, heart breaking just as harshly.
“I’M NOT!” His voice raised by accident, regret immediately looming upon him to see her cringe. Panic shook the ground beneath him. The very idea of Akari not believing her was driving him insane. If his words—his feelings—couldn’t get through her, Volo began fearing for the worst.
Her love and forgiveness were what kept him alive. If he lost all that—!
   If…he lost…all that…
   If…he lost…her—
A cry was stifled behind clenched teeth.
“I—I love you.” Again. “I love you!” He needed to say it again. “I love you. I love you!” A broken smile twisted his face. “Please believe me, Akari.” Vision spiraled as he tried to focus on her, Volo almost dropped on all fours before planting one palm on the mat. He watched as she glared at him. He panted as she couldn’t believe him. “A-Akari, my dear—”
“Then why are you hurting me again…”
   He froze.
He didn’t realize his right hand was reaching for her. Immediately, he ceased all movement. Like a beautiful statue that was cracked and ephemeral, Volo remained perfectly still.
   She was tired. Too tired.
“It hurts…” One hand weakly caressed the light bruise around her jaw. She flinched slightly, though the pain was quite bearable compared to the agonizing torment in her heart.
   Truly, she had had enough.
   “I’m sorry…”
Arceus, she grew to hate those words.
However, fatigue stitched her mouth shut. Akari only slumped against the wall, broken and defeated. She tore her gaze away from him, for she knew if she looked any longer, her traitorous heart would only beg for his affection.
   “I…” He needed to fix this. “I just… I’m—afraid of losing you…”
She kept her head turned to the side.
Teeth pinching roughly into his tongue, Volo continued, “There are times where I feared this was all a dream. That I—That if I returned your feelings verbally, you might disappear…” Hope. He vainly hoped as Akari didn’t push her away just yet.
“I’m a selfish fool.” Palms were once again pressed against the mat. “There I was, receiving your forgiveness when all I ever did was curse your very existence. Even when reunited, I fully expected you to kill me as vengeance for almost killing you.”
In truth, all her Pokémon almost did. Multiple times.
“But you chose to ignore me and my cruel remarks, all for the sake of saving this wicked world.” A distressed chuckle slipped out. “I played you for a fool, and yet you still chose to forgive me…” He thought she was a fool for keeping him alive. He thought she was a fool for treating him like a human being.
Alas, in turns out that he was the fool all along.
“When I… When you almost disappeared, I thought I could handle it. I thought it was what I wanted.” Arceus was truly cruel for playing such tricks. “But then you almost died—something that I had wished for so, so…long…” Breathless as he was as memories sunk deep into his mind.
“I…” His head hung low. “I love you. I cannot bear a world without you.” Blonde hair slid downwards, shielding a heartbrokenly deranged expression. “I was scared—I am scared…” His heart lay bare for her. For the woman who saved him. For the woman he never, ever deserved.
Akari only listened, unmoving and sniffling. Her heart beat rapidly at the waver of his voice. Tone deep and shattered, she once again held her breath at his confession. Oh, how she hated her heart for feeling rejuvenated. How she damned her mind for believing a man who once cursed her very being.
   “And…when I saw you with Rei today, I just—lost it…”
Finally, her head snapped in his direction. The final confession made her eyes widen. Though tears stained each corner of her eyes and flushed cheeks, Akari blinked quickly at the man who now refused to meet her gaze. Mouth parted, breathing out warm air that further dried her cracked lips.
“You—” Anger once again bubbled inside her stomach. “You tried to kill me in the past. You manipulated me and broke my heart before! Do you think you have the right to assume I’m cheating on you?!” Words for once were clear as day, echoing the walls and piercing deep into his eardrums.
His silence only boiled her fury.
“I can’t…believe you…” Shaking hands curled to fists. “I l-lost everything and everyone and yet…I still find happiness with you. But you—” Every bone in her body popped as she sat up straight. “You have the gall to think I would ever leave you? After all I’ve said and done?”
   He remained still.
   She hated it.
“VOLO!” Finally, his name was roared out. “Stupid…stupid!!” Unable to hold her fury, she raised her fist and landed a punch on his shoulder.
   Whack! Again on his shoulder.
Whack, whack! Another on his arms.
“Stupid—stupid idiot!” Tears no longer misted her vision. All she saw was him, bowed and looking away. Whack, whack, whack, whack! “I can’t believe you!” Fists tightened and nails dug deep inside her palms, she landed each punch—harder, rougher.
Whack, whack, whack! Each hit mirrored the pain she felt. Each punch was a reflection of the agony she held. “Stupid, stupid!” Intelligible words were a failure as her mind was clouded with anger.
Volo only let her be, letting his body become a punching bag if it means redemption for what he had done to her. Nails scraped the tatami mat. Head hung low as he received a punch on his back. Her anger rang clear. He knew he had no right in stopping or correcting her—
   “I hate you!”
However, there was one that he could never accept.
   “NO!”
Lost in her heartbreak, Akari started spewing anything that came into her frazzled mind. Fury frizzled into shock when she felt her wrists being held and his face being positioned so close to her.
Grey eyes were wide, pupils shrinking in fear at the last thing he ever wanted to hear.
“Don’t ever say that,” he seethed, eyes mad with terror. Unblinking, he brought her hands to his mouth, kissing and revering each finger. “Please… Please…” Again, his voice faltered. Hair in disarray, Volo cocked his head upwards and looked at the stunned woman. “Please…don’t ever say that…”
Upon realizing what she actually said, Akari blinked dumbly before spatting a curse. “You hurt me…” The accusation came out as a frail whimper. While he now wasn’t physically hurting her anymore, Akari still felt the stinging pain of her broken heart.
“I’m sorry…” Chu… A kiss was bestowed on her left fingernail. “I am so sorry, Akari…” Chu, chu… Another kiss, this time trailed to the same ring finger, lips drawing upwards to the back of her hand.
His eyes never left hers. “Please…don’t hate me…”
She expected an accusation. A tricky remark. Anything he usually said in order to get her to speak what he wanted to hear.
But now, as she looked at him—despondent and desperate—Akari soon realized the sincerity that dripped within.
She wanted to say it again. To gauge his reaction. To make him suffer.
It was the least she could do. He had done so much to hurt her. He had caused so much grief that could drive any person insane.
“Mmm…” Her lips pursed. Her cheeks burned.
Grey eyes were red and strained. “Akari…please…”
The deep, husky voice she knew and memorized in her dreams became a weapon. She hated that.
However, “Say it again…” she never hated him.
Upon hearing her simple request, it washed a wave of relief over him. “Ha…” His grip was shaking, yet he never let go. “Haha…” The withered smile grew wider, accompanying tears that trickled down each cheek. “I love you, Akari.” Carefully, Volo pulled her closer. “I love you…” Heart screaming in joy that she wasn’t fighting back, he gingerly wrapped his arms around her shoulders. Hands brushed her back, caressing up and down, fingers tracing the back of her neck before curling some strands of soft, black hair. “I love you…” The words he once found so heavy to utter were now pouring so shamelessly.
“I love you…” His face nuzzled into her neck. “I love you…” His mouth brushed an apologetic kiss over her bruise. “I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you…” Unable to stop himself, Volo tightened his embrace. He was careful still, holding on to the fear that she would disappear in an instant.
   Akari never did.
Instead, her head tipped slightly, mouth trembling back a moan. “Mm…” was all she stifled. Hands gripped the front of his Ginkgo shirt, fingers digging deep into the soft material.
   “Do you love me?”
What a cruel man he was.
She felt him pull away briefly. She was already tired enough, so there was no point in denying what was true. “Of course I love you—mmph—!”
Words died to a muffle as his lips pressed to hers.
Bafflement held her still while ardor fueled his desires. His lips found her, already parted and panted as his tongue pierced within. The taste of her immediately awakened something primal, controlling his grip from soothing to firm as he traced his hands back to her slim shoulders. A hungry tongue tickled her own, gingerly tickling it upwards and urging it to enter his own mouth.
   She tasted so, so divine.
Lips never leaving hers, Volo carefully scooped her in his arms. A meek squeak entered his mouth, and Volo swallowed it like a starving man as he brought his Chosen One to their futon.
Heart pounding against her chest, Akari wrapped her arms around his neck out reflex. Though startled by his actions, her body welcomed it immediately—her heart bloomed for him blissfully—and her mind, melted and light-headed, tried to remind her to be wary of such a dangerous lover.
   The latter was losing—terribly.
Plop. She felt her body being placed on the soft futon. Air was pushed out of her, and breathing only seemed more impossible as he robbed her will to think as well. Pat, pat, she tapped his shoulders. A low whimper escaped her as he finally broke the kiss. A string of saliva connected the tip of their tongues, and Akari only felt shameless to see such a flushed, fervid expression right above her.
Pupils were blown wide amidst grey eyes. Her reflection—just as aroused and ardent—was seen clearly in such a tantalizing gaze.
   “Akari…”
Heat pooled between her legs to hear such a husky, seductive tone.
Wet lips pursed, holding back the mistake of echoing a shameless sound. A part of her—tiny as it may be—was still angry. Though she now foolishly fluttered for the man, her stubbornness clenched her teeth hard as Akari looked to the side.
The action was clearly a mistake.
Lips parted to a short gasp as she felt a hot mouth on the side of her neck.
Chu, chu, chup, chuu… Deliriously, he peppered kisses after kisses. He kissed a small, horizontal scar that traced up to her right ear. He kissed the recent scar on her right cheek. It lingered for a few breaths, lips mouthing an apology that caressed her skin. He then pecked a part of a new, once charred skin that had formed on her collarbone. Lips continued to brush around her neck, nose inhaling and remembering her scent that sent a shiver down his spine.
His mouth then stopped at the fresh wound under her jaw.
Softly, gingerly, almost featherlike, he kissed the spot. He felt her flinch, and the reaction was more than enough to pierce guilt deep into his fiendish heart. Volo carefully nuzzled the wound, then mouthed an apology as lips pecked her chin.
Words were void, yet she heard him.
Taking a slow, shaky breath, she looked at him once again.
Vision was blurry despite the close distance.
Silence communicated between them. As Volo stood on his knees, Akari slowly followed suit and sat up. Black eyes never left a pair of greys. Cold body shivered as she felt strong hands softly tugging her jinbei. The cotton tie on her right side was easily untied, letting the top part to unravel and reveal her chest.
Her body felt colder. His hands felt warmer.
One finger gingerly poked her collarbone, then trailed down, down to her rapidly beating chest. Finger turned to palm as he gently pressed her skin, feeling the frantic beat of her heart. His left hand deftly untied the other knot inside her clothing, gaze—spiraled and heady—unbroken from a pair of eyes that matched his dying thirst.
The top jacket was removed, shoulders shimmied and hands throwing the attire to the side before planting hard into the soft futon.
   She never looked away too.
The same slim finger traced around her chest, drawing circles and swirls before each finger tickled her marred skin. He felt every bump. Every rough patch. Scars, old and new, marked her once delicate body, and Volo found the sight merely angelical.
Fingers gingerly circled around her brown nipple. His touch traced on her areola, fingertips dancing on her left breast without even touching the stiff teat.
   Her breathing grew heavier.
A quiet gasp slurred down a plump, lower lip. His name died at the tip of it, bringing out an echo inside a hollow room.
   He understood perfectly.
Fingers finally poked her nipple, eliciting a surprised squeak that made his cock twitch. He brushed upwards—softly—feeling the smooth skin against a callous finger. He watched as she took a quiet, deep breath. A crooked smile tickled the corner of his mouth. This time, he brushed it downwards, then circled the teat around until he saw her chest heave quickly.
Her cheeks were flushed. Too flushed. Black eyes were glazed, iris swallowed by dilated pupils. Her lips—plump, wet, and parted—only enticed him to taste her further.
Finally, he broke the intense stare that burned his heart. Instead, he aimed at her right breast, unattended and craving his touch.
Of course, he wished to fix that.
His name still died as a gasp as Akari felt a hot tongue on her right nipple. “Nnh…” White teeth clenched momentarily, then unclenched as she felt her left nipple being lightly pinched.
Slim fingers pressed and prodded her nipple, stiffening it even more that it started to ache. A warm mouth cupped her right breast, indulging in the delicious taste and sucking an even more delicious teat. A wet tongue flicked the brown tip, trailing up and down and around and around before sucking the nipple lazily.
“V-Vo—” Finally, his name was heard, fueling his hunger that coiled inside his stomach. One hand cupped her mouth, fingers pressed harder onto her face once she felt his free hand trail downwards.
Everywhere he touched burned, yet she felt warm. Everywhere sound he made sounded guttural, yet she felt wetter.
“Ngh—!” A low hiss choked in her throat as she felt teeth nibble her brown nipple.
Volo twisted and turned gently, careful not to hurt it yet gave enough pressure to push pleasure. Grey eyes were fixated on the angel above him, pupils pooled in black and spiraled in a reflection that bared nothing but her.
Pop. He then let go, not before giving her left nipple a short flick of the tongue.
Her shivers felt delightful on his touch.
Lying limply on the futon, Akari felt her pants being tugged. Without a thought, she held his wrists, immediately stopping him from proceeding.
A quick wave of panic boiled in his stomach. Wordlessly, he looked at Akari, concern and fear etching his eyebrows and glistening in his eyes.
There were times where Volo once used those tactics to manipulate her. There were times where she was fooled so blindly, accepting his masks as if they were his true feelings.
Now, those were not those times.
“Off…” she meekly whispered; head bobbed slightly as she blinked such beautiful black eyes in his direction. Lower lips pulling to a pout, she tugged on the sleeves of his work attire.
Fear and panic dissolved into nothingness once he realized what she wanted.
Oh, how he wanted to cackle like a fool.
Instead, a stunned chuckle slipped out as Volo kneeled above her. His knees pressed on each side of her hip; Volo took off his Ginkgo outfit. Thankfully, he had long discarded his backpack and the outerwear that resembled the guild’s logo once he entered their home. Instead, all that’s left was the jumpsuit that he soon realized was now too stuffy and unbearable.
He unbuttoned the top part, letting the clothing slide off his shoulders and his arms slip out of each sleeve. His gaze never left hers, glossy and gleaming as he basked in her awe over him.
Like her, his body was littered with scars and bruises. Some were old. Some were new. Years of surviving on his own allowed his body to be meatier and buff, which caused a surprise for Akari when she first saw him since the Ginkgo attire was always thick and puffy.
Lost in her thoughts, Akari came gasping back to earth when she felt her pants being slid off so easily.
“Volo!” Finally, her voice rang loud and true. Quickly, she leaned on one elbow while the other tried to cover her chest in a sudden act of self-consciousness.
However, quickly she was silenced, mouth parted to a quiet gasp as she felt one hand sliding between her thighs.
Face aflame, Akari stifled a squeak and pouted harder.
   She was cute. Too cute.
“Let me do this, my dear,” he purred, right palm brushing up and down her inner thigh. Though face just as flushed, Volo still had the ability to properly think on the actions he was and would be doing.
And what he was thinking right now was shown through his fingers brushing her wet cunt.
A breath was hitched behind a quivering smile to see her shiver. “Akari…” Her name was delicious cream that trailed across a jutted tongue. The thick slur of his tone only intensified her shivers, and Volo found absolute pleasure to see such a sight.
   He wished to see more.
One finger traced through the dark bush that led to her enticing cunt. Pink tongue inadvertently wet a suddenly dry mouth.
   She was soaked. Shamelessly so.
Aaahhh… A long sigh echoed in his mind. I love you… Mind hypnotized by the thought of her, Volo leaned above her by levelling himself with his left hand right next to her head. His right hand remained on her pussy, middle and index finger lightly pinching the soft, fat lower lips together before pulling them apart.
   Pinch…pull…
   Pinch…pull…
He did that for a few more times, relishing on her reactions which consists of meek mewls and weak whimpers.
   He wanted to hear more.
   “My dear…” A whisper. “My Akari…” A desire.
Surprise flickered between her panting. But before she could say anything else, the young woman instead moaned at the feel of his finger brushing against her slit.
“Let me make up to you…” The words were muttered so softly, so huskily. Leaning a bit closer until her legs were spread apart, Volo inserted one, long middle finger inside her. She was soaked entirely, enabling his finger to enter easily. In and out he slowly fucked her, later curling the same finger to caress the wet walls that had him thirsty for more.
Her replies were in forms of pants and moans. Unlike minutes ago, Akari looked at him. Shame was slowly being burned to crisps, leaving desire that pooled into a puddle between her thighs.
Her head cocked upwards. Her mouth parted wordlessly as another finger slipped into her wet cunt. As just as Akari thought his actions couldn’t elicit more sparks within her, the feel of his open-mouth kisses on her neck only made her toes curl. “Mhmm…” Lips pursed in vain, mind stubbornly holding back an obvious reaction to tease him further.
A challenge he saw. A challenge he sought.
Chup. Mouth pressed and peeled off the side of her neck, Volo continued kissing downwards. His lips traveled to the valley between her breasts. One flick of his tongue on her right nipple, then another on her left. A smile only curled the corner of his hungry mouth to see her shiver at each sensitive touch. Fingers still busy flickering her clit and fucking her pussy, Volo peppered more and more kisses. This time, it traced down to her belly button, lips replaced by tongue as he licked the sensitive little hole.
Ah, what joy he felt to feel every reaction on his mouth and hand.
He kissed down and down. Down to the soft, thick bush between her thighs. Face nuzzled on the small strands, nose inhaling sharply to bask in her scent that only drove him insane.
   “V-Volo…”
The free hand on the futon clenched madly at the sound her intoxicating voice. Though cock twitched and strained for his attention—for her entrance—Volo knew he needed to make amends.
In a daze, he tilted upwards and rested his chin on her left thigh. “Hmm…?” Lazily, he responded, mouth softened to a sensual grin.
Ah, how she wanted to curl inside a blanket for saying what she was about to say.
“Mm…” Trembled lips loosened. “More…” Right fingers curled as she positioned them near her mouth. Her head cocked forward, meeting his gaze that could send her into a state of debauchery.
What she wanted, she would get.
Never breaking their sights on each other, Volo put both legs on his shoulders. Pop. Both fingers slipped out of her. Index and middle fingers were soaked, trickled with her juice that made his lips dry.
Ensuring she looked at him, Volo sucked his index and middle fingers, tongue circling around the sticky digits to savor her taste.
Swirls of shame pooled in her eyes. Spirals of desire bubbled in his eyes.
Both hands now squeezing her thighs, Volo wasted no time and slipped his tongue inside her.
The action alone made her back arch.
“Vo—!” Seeking the release he had been denying of her, Akari let out a long moan at the feel of something wetter—something more erratic. Hands whipped to his hair, fingers tangling through the blonde locks as he nuzzled her clit with his nose.
His tongue slipped in and out and in and out. It curled up against her walls, then slid around in circles to get every taste of her. Like a man starved for decades, Volo slid his tongue out and sucked the throbbing clit. The action only made her jump again, but the deprived man held her down firmly as he sucked and nibbled her bud. His nose brushed against the short black hairs, and Volo merely shook his head with each heady breath. A tongue met her clit, flicking up and down in wild movements that only matched the sound of her broken moans.
“V-Vo—” Her legs straightened. Her toes curled. “Volo…I’m ah—!” Hands pulled his hair, attracting a growl that vibrated across her clit.
Fueled by her reactions, Volo moved his mouth upwards—tongue still stuck on her aching clit—and slid two fingers back into her.
His movement was quick, desperate, excitable.
Everything that made her scream out in her room and see white stars.
   Squirt…squirt…!
Grey eyes glinted in surprise at her gushing release, Volo happily scrapped more juices out of her and slurped it in a delightful manner. Grin bursting a smile, he swallowed every drop. His nose gently nuzzled her happy trail, tickling his cheeks that were bright red.
Finally, he moved away, mouth lightly panting and a trail of her release connected to the tip of his jutted tongue.
Suddenly feeling tired, Akari sprawled one arm above her eyes. Shame was back in full force, disabling her from properly seeing the man who had just broken her to a point of bliss.
And judging by the feel of his body against hers, they knew he wasn’t done.
“Akari…” He nuzzled the nape of her neck, giving more delirious kisses on a spot right under her left ear. “Look at me…” Tone thick with wanton, Volo gently held her right hand and pried it away from her face.
Once he looked at her, he almost let out a shameless groan.
Heat flushed from face to the tips of her ears. Gorgeous black eyes were even more breath-taking, taken over by blown out pupils. Her eyes were misty, hazy, trickled with tears at the corners.
Leaning down, he gingerly licked the tears away.
   “…me…”
Her voice was a murmur, a breath that brushed his face.
“Hmm?” He pulled upwards; a single eyebrow raised.
“I said…” Collecting the courage that slowly seeped within, Akari slid her hands around his neck and head. “Fuck me…” Though very sensitive, she craved more. Her pussy throbbed still, both from the release and the need to have something thicker. Black eyes glanced downwards. A single saliva slid down her throat to see his cock positioned so, so closely to her gaping entrance.
   She heard a sharp breath.
Meekly, she looked up, then stifled a moan to see such deranged admiration for her.
Mouth broken to a pursed line, Volo held his cock. Up and down, he rubbed it, fingers brushing against the veins inside his hard, pulsating dick. The touch made it beat, and he found it pathetic that he was just as sensitive as her. Gaze never torn from the woman under him, he gently rubbed the bulbous head against her pussy lips.
Teeth gritted back a moan. He saw that she instead let out hers.
Up and down, he brushed against her. Strings of precum painted her lower lips, tip peeking just briefly before Volo pulled it out.
She knew damn well he wanted her to say it again.
   Damn him. Damn him.
Having enough of his teasing, Akari wrapped her legs around his waist.
Drawing enough bravery as if she was facing a terrifying Alpha in the wild, Akari looked at him in the eye and moaned, “Fuck me, Volo…”
The words were enough to light a fire back.
With a strained chuckle, he entered her.
The feeling of his cock against her wet walls drew out a long, deep groan from him.
She felt tight. She felt amazing.
“Haa…my Akari…” His hips snapped against her. He slid in so easily, then held perfectly still so that he didn’t cum here and now. Elbows lay planted against the soft futon, positioned nicely next to the sides of her head. He felt her legs release their grip, yet their never left his waist.
One hand tangled in his hair yet again, Akari cocked her head upwards and sighed beautifully. She felt so full. Her pussy twitched and tightened, eliciting a tremble and a growl that slurred deliciously into her left ear.
“Don’t tempt me, my dear…” Slowly, he moved. In and out, his cock moved inside her. One tongue traced the shell of her left ear, tickling a shiver from his beloved. Head nuzzled against hers, Volo gently adjusted his movements, changing from slow to not-as-slow in an agonizing pace. His hips connected with hers, touching in a way that felt like brushes of a feather.
Sometimes, it irked Akari that he chose to be thoughtful at the worst of times.
Once again, her wrapped around him. “Faster…” she whispered, cheeks nuzzling against his. “Please fuck me fa—ah—ster…” She raised her hips, meeting him halfway in a single snap that made them flinch.
Sometimes, it amazed Volo that she chose to be ruthless at the best of times.
Taking a deep breath. Volo moved away and straightened his positioned in a kneel. In a second blink, hands had now held her waist.
In a fourth blink, a mixture of gasps and moans filled the air.
Shlip! His cock fucked her deep. Slap, slap, shlip—! His cock kissed her womb.
The sudden change of pace again broke out another scream. In and out she felt him move. Butt lifted off the futon, Akari only let her body being used like a fuck doll as he thrusted to his liking. Eyes glazed with heady lust; she felt her eyeballs roll to the back of her head as she felt his skin brush against her clit.
Shlip, shlip, shlip! In. Out. In. Out. He fucked her without pause. Hands had moved to the sides of her chest, thumbs flicking her nipples which only made her jerk. Wide grey eyes watched as her hair sprawled above her head like waves of halos. Truly, she was beautiful. And truly, she belonged to him and no one else.
Why was he a fool who had almost lost the only angel who had dropped from the pitiful heavens for him?
“I love y-you…” The word stuttered. Slurred. “I love you. I love you…!” Carefully, he leaned forward until palms were pressed next to the sides of her head. “Say you love me, Akari.” Not once did he tear his gaze from her. “Say it…! Say you love me—!”
   Shlip!
“Ah—I love you!” The sudden snap caused her confession to come out as a harsh breath. Relentless and rough, Akari tried her best to focus on the man above her.
Blonde hair cascaded to the sides of his head. Lips pink and parted, slightly swollen from their kisses. Cheeks a luxurious shade of red, further intensifying the beauty he had since the first day she saw him.
   Truly, he was hers.
Hands moved to his face, palms cupping each hot cheek. “I love you so much.” No matter where she was. “I love—you!” No matter who she was. “I—a-ah—love you so much, Volo!” Her life was preordained. And despite all that had happened, she was still given a chance to taste such an intense, honest love.
His movements grew erratic. Her lower stomach coiled.
Lost in the cloud of love and lust, Akari pulled him closer. Their mouth clashed together, breaking a moan from the man which let her tongue tangle with his. Eyes squeezed shut, Akari tightened her legs around him, pressing him further until she purred to feel his cock deep into her womb.
Eyes rolled upwards at the unbearable sensation, Volo slid his arms around her chest, locking her arms as well in place. With one final push, he came into her. Spurts of white cum gushed inside, filling her entirely. He felt her legs twitch and jerk. He felt her hips raise and still.
Silence then filled the thick air.
Thankfully, an open window caused by Belial’s actions enabled some fresh air to enter through. While summer still welcomed itself, the soothing breeze soothed their skins that were coated in sweat and dust.
Deep breaths slowed to even ones. Her hands slid from his head to his shoulders. Fatigue finally weighing heavily on her body, Akari limply dropped her arms to the sides. Though eyes closed, she whined meekly to feel his cheek nuzzling hers.
   “I love you…”
Ba-dump! Ah, it seems that her heart needed some time to get used to that.
Slowly pulling out, Volo dropped to the side. Eyes ever focused on the woman next to him, he gently held her left shoulders. “Akari…” Voice quite hoarse from the whole ordeal, he quietly urged her to face him.
Their hearts and minds connected so well as Akari turned to the right.
Their gazes met, glossy and pooled with love. Her legs entangled with his, feeling his warmth amidst the cool breeze. Lower lip quivered to a pout, Akari brought one hand up. Softly, she brushed his hair, tucking some blonde strands to the back of his ear. Slim fingers caressed his right cheek, thumb brushing his lips that were soft and inviting.
Chu… A kiss was bestowed on her thumb.
Black eyes met a pair of greys. Gone was the animosity that possessed him a few hours ago. Now all that’s left was love—pure and true. No matter how many times she looked at him, Akari could never deny her heart that yearned for her past and their future.
   She was a fool.
A fool who was blessed by Arceus itself.
Sorrow suddenly glimmered in her iris. “What if you don’t trust me again…”
A flinch was felt on the palm of her hand.
Realizing what she meant, a frown tugged the corner of his mouth. “I…” Truly, he didn’t know. If he were to reassure her, what made him think that it was enough to reassure himself? He had hurt her enough—physically, emotionally, and mentally—and yet, she chose to stay if it means chasing each other’s happiness. She was the prophecy by Arceus itself, the one who brought him down to ruins.
And yet, she was also the woman he loved, the one who gifted him the ray of hope he long sought after.
   He was a fool.
A fool who was toyed by Arceus itself.
Her patience made his heart heavy. Finally, frown tickled to a small smile, Volo held the hand on his face and brought it to his mouth.
   Chu. “I will try…”
   It was a start.
   An actual promise.
No malice. No deceit. Only sincerity caressed the back of her fingers, reminding her the very reason why they were meant to be.
   It actually reassured her.
Mouth finally curling to a simple smile, Akari huffed out a giggle. Amused by her reality, she timidly slid closer to him. “If you ever think I’ll cheat on you again…” She tipped her head, brushing her nose on his chin, “I’ll make sure Belial will burn you alive.”
Part of her was joking. Another part of her absolutely wasn’t.
   Volo knew this so well.
Amused by her threat, Volo placed a kiss on the top of her head. “Very well,” was all he said. Carefully, he pulled her up until his lips met her forehead next. Left arm slid under the side of her head, hand squeezing her right shoulder while right arm wrapped around her back. Fingers caressed her skin littered with scars and faded bruises. Each gentle brush was a silent wish of comforting her, easing Akari of the pain this world had befallen on her.
Even if he was part of this world.
Heart full and breathing hitched, Volo pulled her closer. “I love you…” Face nuzzled on her thick, black hair. “I love you so much…”
If someone had told Akari that she would find her soulmate 500 years in the past, she would have either dismissed it or laughed it off.
   But now…
“I love you too…” Arms tucked together between their chests, Akari looked up. A smile was accompanied by adorable cheeks, burning and painting a picture of sheer bliss.
Chu… Their lips met for a kiss, one so soft, so delicate, yet so filled with affection.

Irresolute Feelings (Chapter 3) | Volokari
   Silence was heavy. Unbearable.
One lone woman pressed her back against the wall. Her head tilted upwards, wide eyes staring at the tall man whom she loved but now feared. Colour almost drained from her face. The expression he wore was void of joy. A deep frown stretched his mouth. Though blonde bangs covered half of his face, shivers ran down her spine to see such a cold, sharp glare pierced directly at her.
Her heart raced—she didn’t want this to be the cause.
“Um…” Her mouth was agape, shivered. “Are…you okay?” She sniffed not a whiff of alcohol on him. He didn’t look dirty either; not a speck of dirt nor blood that implied that he was doing business outside of town. Both palms pressed against the wall, one hand however twitched in hesitance on whether or not she should reach out for him.
Silence continued to slice her into two.
He looked at her. Dotted pupils focused from head to toe. She was home. She was home. That was all that came to mind when he saw her sandals near the entrance. She’s here. She’s here. That was all that bubbled in his head when he stepped into her—their house.
She’s mine. She’s mine. That was all that boiled inside his mind when he saw her in the room. Akari. Akari.
He saw her with someone else. Akari. He saw her with that bastard of a man. Akari. Akari. She was so close with that fucker. So close. Their bodies were touching. Akari. Their hands were holding. Akari.
Anger fumed through flared nostrils. Akari. Grey eyes landed on her, witnessing such fear that once bared its presence for the first time in the Temple of Sinnoh. Akari. The hand on the wall slowly curled into fists, dull nails digging into the flesh of his callous palm.
Akari. He saw her. He saw her so close with someone else! Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari Akari AKARI—!
   “Volo…”
Her voice grounded him back to earth.
Once again, he looked at her.
He hated that expression on her face.
A frown quivered such pink lips. Taking a deep breath, Akari met his gaze. “What’s wro—?”
   “How was your day, dear?”
The question—so off-putting; so eerily calm—caught her off guard. “It was good.” A simple short reply. She wasn’t ready to reveal the actions of hours ago, but judging by his actions now, Akari didn’t know if she’s ever ready. “I and Rei—”
His fist by the side of her head curled tighter.
“—subdued an Alpha Luxray today. It was terrifying, but we managed to escape.” Her words were careful. Calculated. Jet black eyes never once broke from his intense gaze. Fear may have taken root, but courage steadily crept up as this was not the first time that she had ever seen him like this.
At least, this was a first since they started being together.
   “Rei—”
A sharp breath hissed through gritted teeth.
“—got wounded pretty bad on the ankle so I had to bring him back to the village for better treatment. He’s okay now.” Her mind tried to calculate the situation they were in. Volo clearly wasn’t in a good mood. This wasn’t the first time. Ever since they lived together, they both knew how to keep a proper amount of distance when they needed to. Just because their feelings were mutual didn’t mean that it was always sunshine and roses. Akari soon realized Volo still had to adapt to the world he swore to destroy—just as he had to understand the sheer grief she had to face when she lost her own world.
Usually, they did their own matters after a fight—though often petty ones—and made up, at worst, the day after. Sometimes their apologies were verbal. Sometimes their apologies were physical.
In the end, it would all end well.
But now, as she remained stuck between a wall and him, Akari couldn’t tell if this would too.
A single gulp slid down a dry throat. “So…yeah.” She was dumbfounded. “I ah…came home early because I was…” The words a breathy murmur, Akari forced herself to look at him. “…tired…”
He squinted. His frown never left.
“Hmm…” was all he said next. Finally, he moved his other hand. “And this?” Fingers lightly brushed the scar on her right cheek. Volo watched as she flinched. Be it from his touch or the pain, he didn’t know.
If it was the former, then he didn’t know how to convince himself otherwise when he remembered her touch with the other Galaxy member.
Fury was a dangerous master as it could easily take over a person’s body.
One minute, he was caressing her cheek, fingers brushing the fresh wound that seemed so easy to tear open if he pierced his nail through.
The next, his left hand roughly grasped her lower jaw, fingers pressing against a vein in her neck.
The action and shock caused her to cough. “V-Vo…lo—ck…” Strong hands pressed against her jaw, forcing her mouth to open. Dark eyes widened, tears near forming the sides at the sudden pain. Quickly her hands whipped to his left hand, yet his strength and the bafflement of the situation disabled her to pry him away.
“Did you have fun with Rei today?” His fingers pressed against her neck.
   “Wha—ugh…!” Her words became wheezes.
“Did you?” He leaned closer, hand still firm on her face. A smile finally broke apart, yet honesty was nowhere to be seen. “Did you feel safe with him around?” His forehead bonked against her, pushing her head hard against the wall.
   Her vision was getting blurry.
“Aaaah…and here I was, worry to my wit’s end.” He cocked her head upwards. “And yet, what did I see?” Blind anger seethed as it scraped her pale face.
Akari tried and tried again. But all she could do, all she could see, was the man she loved turning into a living nightmare. “V-Vo…”
   “You.”
His word was laced with venom. It punctured her heart. Tore her chest apart.
His body pressed against hers. Coat be damned as Volo harshly pressed his hips against hers. “You being so close to another man. You talking about another man.” His grip loosened—just for a few seconds—before he shocked her again by jolting her face closer. “You being so vulnerable to everyone when you clearly belong to me.”
A single tear trickled down her cheek.
“You told me you love me.” He rubbed against her. A low groan exhaled as he felt his cock brushing her thigh. It felt good. He hated it. He hated it! “You told me you love me.”
Another and another tear soaked her cheeks and his hand.
   It hurt.
It hurt. It hurt. It hurt.
   He saw. He saw.
   However, jealousy was a disease.
“How dare you…” he whispered, weak and seething still. “How…dare you…”
   “Vol-lo…” A whimper of a name escaped. “S-Sto—”
“How dare you…” He couldn’t hear her anymore.
   “Sto—”
Body flushed hard against her. Hand clutched madly onto her jaw. “How…” His body moved on instinct. Fingers still digging into her throat, Volo watched as those beautiful dark eyes grew red. “…dare—”
Pupils dilated slightly at the sight of her. The image formed thorns of guilt, stabbing his heart mercilessly until he himself had lost breath.
He didn’t want this. He should stop. He needed to stop. He didn’t want to hurt her. “—YOU!”
   “STOOOP!”
Taking advantage of the brief moment of weakness, Akari roughly wiggled her face away from his hand and screamed.
   SLAM!
   Everything happened too fast.
The first moment, they were pressed onto the wall. Akari could barely breathe. A horrible hurricane of panic, fear, and sorrow overcame her to a total stupor.
The second moment, once her shout rang through, Akari felt breathless.
A gasp and many coughs escaped her tight lungs once she was released. Thud. Weakly, she fell to the floor. One hand clutched her chest. The other shakily caressed her neck. Tears still trickled down her cheeks. Her head rapidly spun, but Akari knew fainting wouldn’t help the situation right now.
Kneeling on the tatami mat, she looked forward.
Pupils shrunk to dots to see the back of her Hisuian Typhlosion. Raging flames of purple and red lit up the area. If not for the wide space of the room, it wouldn’t be a surprise that the place could be burned down.
   Akari needed to stop this.
Meanwhile, while horror stunned the woman, her starter was fueled with nothing but manic rage.
‘You…’ Bloodred eyes shot to tiny dots as he glared at the groaning man. ‘Youuuu….” He stood tall, head cocked upwards as he glared at the pathetic human below. Fangs were borne ferociously. Claws were out and gleaming at every tip. The fur on his body prickled from head top to bottom. If Belial were to take one step forward, one would swear that a fire could be formed right where he stood,
Taken aback by the violent push, Volo carefully pushed himself upright. Confusion was immediately replaced with terror once he saw him.
Belial didn’t move. He stood in front of Akari. He stood between his beloved human and the bastard of a creature. His glare—nearly demonic and hollow—bore holes into Volo’s skull.
He should have never let him live with her. He should have never let this sleazy man slither back into her life. From the day he met him as a Cyndaquil, Belial had a bad feeling about it. And the feeling only grew stronger and stronger each time they met.
But he kept quiet. He kept his silence and watched.
Akari may love the vile man honest and true. She may have accepted him despite what he had done to her. And Belial respected that. He respected her choices as long as it made her happy.
   But now.
   Now.
As she kneeled on the floor, shivering and crying, Belial knew Volo would always be the one who would never be able to make her happy.
With that resolution in mind, he slowly tilted his head.
Without a word, without a sound, wisps of purple coated around his mane. The fire from the hearth disappeared immediately. Silence intensified furthermore, almost breathless. Even though night time was filled with stars and the moon, all was an abyss inside the quaint house.
Nothing except fumes of purple and two dots of red.
Panic seeped in the poor blonde. As he scrambled backwards, all he saw was a smoke of skulls above the bloodthirsty Hisuian Typhlosion.
Realizing what Belial was about to do, Akari had another set of alarms setting her off. “Belial sto—!”
Unfortunately, before another scream could be finished, he unleashed Infernal Parade.

Change | Volokari
He was the warmth that she yearned to hold.
Seeing him always brought a smile on her face. When she felt that the world was about to swallow her whole, he would be there to pull her to safety. When she felt that the sorrow was too heavy to bear, he would be there to shove the grief away. When everyone turned their backs on the poor girl, he was there to reach out for her.
He was the hope she long feared was gone.
As the sun and moon exchanged places. As the seasons rolled by in a blink. As the sky turned bloody red to bring forth a promise of death. Akari felt confident and safe every time her eyes set on the beautiful smile from the man who cared for her.
He entered her world. Entered her heart.
Akari couldn’t be even more grateful. Couldn’t even be more blissful. His smile brought butterflies to her stomach. His laugh kissed heat into her cheeks. To be able to stay by his side, Akari always chastised herself for feeling giddy like a little girl. To be able to hold his hand, she wanted to hide in a hole for wanting to squeal in utter delight.
To feel a soft kiss on the back of her hand as his gaze lingered so lovingly, so devotedly, Akari wondered if this was truly a gift in a sea of challenges.
His gentle voice bloomed her heart anew.
And as she saw him talking to a fellow Ginkgo member, Akari couldn’t stop herself from waving happily and jogging towards him.
  He saw her.
Her smile widened. Her eyes sparkled.
With the brightest smile shined upon her face, Akari joyfully called, “VOLO—”
---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
  “—OOOOOOOAAAAAAAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!”
Her scream shattered the world that was already broken down by her feet.
Black eyes shrunk madly inside blacker irises. Tears ruined her vision, yet Akari couldn’t care less as the pain in her chest destroyed any rationality that her brain tried to comprehend.
All she could see was him.
Giratina swallowed the sun above them, yet Akari rued the fact that he was perfectly in her line of sight. The mighty roar of the abandoned supreme being shrilled her ears, yet Akari wanted to scream herself to be able to hear his deranged laugh.
As the sun and moon were swallowed by darkness. As the seasons shattered and sizzled through distorted space. As the sky tore open a haunting abyss that bestowed death upon those who reached for it. Akari felt hopeless and terrified every time her eyes set on the bloodthirsty smile from the man whom she once thought cared for her.
He broke her world. Broke her heart.
Rubble and boulders flew and flung towards her. With a scream she barely recognized was her own, her Samurott slashed the rain of rocks away. The Pokémon stood before her, bloody and bruised, ready to fight to the very end if it means protecting her from harm’s way.
  It hurt.
Akari couldn’t even be more devastated. Couldn’t even be more heartbroken. His smile wretched nausea into her throat. His laugh stabbed tears into bloodred eyes. To be forced with the reality that he had been using her, Akari wanted to punch his face over and over. To be forced to go against him so that the world would not be driven into apocalypse again, she wanted scream at the top of her lungs until blood choked out of her.
To remember the touch of his lips at the back of her hand as his gaze lingered on her so lovingly—so deceivingly—Akari wondered if this truly was punishment for all the sins she never knew she bared.
His maniacal laugh shattered what’s left of her heart.
And as she glared at him from across the shattered ruins, from below the horrifying sky, Akari couldn’t stop herself from grinding her teeth and digging sharp nails into her palms.
He was the grief she long feared would appear.
  He stared at her.
Her jaw tightened. Her eyes glistened.
With the most heartbreaking shriek cracking her throat, Akari commanded Nobunaga to attack forward.

First Kiss (Volokari)
A first kiss was a wonderful feeling.
At least that was what Hikari was told.
When she was younger, she often watched her parents give little pecks on the cheeks and brief brushes on the lips. They always smiled afterwards, with both having blushes and smiles that radiated in the eyes of their little one.
As she grew older, she often heard stories about how kisses heal the hurt. She received a kiss on her bandaged knee when she fell off her bike. Her mother’s words comforted her along with the kiss, making Hikari forget about the pain and giving her a boost of confidence that she was truly healed.
When she was 7, she was told that a kiss could be a greeting. She watched as her mom hugged and kissed her friend on the cheeks. The other lady had a child of her own too: a little boy that was the same age as her. Trying to copy her mother, Hikari did the same and shook hands with the little blonde one before giving a little peck on the boy’s cheek.
Jun—she remembered clearly—was surprised at first. Confused not at the contact but rather at the mysterious person whom he had just met a second ago.
The little girl giggled a soft giggle when he decided to return her gesture with a surprising squeeze of a hug.
When she was 10, she heard stories about first kisses. Hikari heard and watched as her classmates give little pecks to someone dear to them. She never thought about it much. She was instead more focused on the promise that students would be allowed to go on their Pokémon journey after graduation. Her close friend, Jun was just as excited as her, so the two never really thought about affection other than a platonic sense.
At the age of 16, she started her adventure. It was then that she learned many things beyond the barriers of her hometown. A kiss was also a sign of other affection. Hikari knew this long ago but never realized how lovely the feeling was until she placed a soft kiss on her starter: her very first Pokémon. The Piplup’s head was soft, and Hikari would forever remember the water starter’s embarrassed chirp at the reward of her first victory.
The adventure exposed her to many experiences. And once she was 17, her heart started to yearn for something more.
Was it when Jun landed on top of her—again—after he bumped into her? Was it when Roark looked absolutely delighted when she showed him a fossil? Was it when she was charmed by the mysterious man who helped her around Iron Island and gave her a Riolu egg? Or was it when she was enamoured by the beautiful Champion who worked together with her when they prevented the apocalypse?
Hikari had no shortage of crushes. However, the lack of confidence in furthering a relationship prevented her from doing anything. She didn’t want to ruin a beautiful friendship with Jun. She enjoyed her little excavation sites with Roark. She barely knew Riley besides their first encounter at the island.
And Cynthia? The woman was an idol to her, someone Akari looked up so deeply.
So Hikari was satisfied with where she was. A first kiss was something so special, that she heard quite a lot in medias and reality. The girl was forever curious, but curiosity was never enough to give her a push forward.
Apparently, Arceus decided to give her more than a push.
Still young, still lively at the age of 17, Hikari—Akari—was thrown into a fate that could challenge and shatter a human soul.
And yet, at the same time, when she met someone who resembled a person who was so dear to her, Akari wondered about the promises of what a first kiss would bring.
He—Volo—was very kind. Very welcoming to her. When they first met, Akari was embarrassed at the fact that she almost cried in relief thinking that someone else—besides Rei—had been thrown into the past too. What disappointment she felt when she heard him speak. It was still gentle though, but with a huskier voice that didn’t match Cynthia’s soothing tone. He was just as polite, referring himself in a formal manner when they spoke. His smile was so familiar, so familiar that it strained her chest to a point of indescribable pain.
  Akari kept her smile.
He offered her battle and she happily obliged. And since that day, their meeting became something she looked forward to.
It started as accidental at first. She was alone in a sense, thrown into a timeline where she had to adapt quickly before she broke. Akari tried to survive in the dangerous world, but her solitude was not literal as she began her treacherous quests with a whole new team of Pokémon. They were more accepting of her than the humans back in Jubilife village; maybe they too knew how it was like to be isolated and feared for something they had never done.
Volo was one of the people who was not afraid to approach her. Sometimes, he offered her potions and materials that greatly benefited her in her perilous journey. Sometimes, he would give her discounts that made Akari worry it would be a loss for the Ginkgo Guild (he laughed and denied the worry away). Though the meetings were first unintended, Akari were soon looking forward to seeing his bright smile in the most dangerous of places.
As her journey proceeded, their meetings became more and more frequent.
Before, he came at the guise of wanting to sell her things. Then, he stayed a few minutes longer to tell her tales and lore that actually helped her in her Galaxy mission. Afterwards, he supported her when the world was rotting and her life was spiralling.
Now, he stayed by her side as the moon and sun exchanged places.
Of course, it was not for a personal reason. He had a request, a mission for the Galaxy team. He wanted to venture deep into Coronet Highlands to find the secrets of the land. Even after the Temple of Sinnoh’s destruction, this never deterred Volo from filling his thirst for knowledge. If anything, he was even more excited, even more motivated.
And he wanted Akari to help him with his mission.
The day Akari knew about it was the best day of her life—hilariously enough when she thought back about the predicament she was still in. Volo had been nothing but kind, polite, patient to, and supportive of her. Without him, she would have had a hard time managing herself in the wild. Without him, she would have had a hard time keeping track of finding the three mythical Pokémon. Without him, she would have had broken down in inconsolable pieces after she got exiled from the village.
It started to dawn on her how aware she was around Volo. The young man was still as friendly, still as polite to her. She never realized how well they worked together in Pokémon battles. He would give her wise advices that only strengthened her survival skills. She would give him helpful tips that had proven far more useful than she had ever thought.
The two was an unstoppable duo. Akari got to admire his wits in battles. Volo got to witness her capabilities against anyone.
The man warmed her heart so comfortably, so lovingly, that when the new year approached with the promise of her turning 18, she wondered about something that she had long forgotten.
A first kiss was a wonderful thing.
Akari wanted to feel this truth with Volo’s lips.
It was silly. Truly silly. Here she was: unable to go back to her time despite being thrown into life-threatening situations every five minutes. Despite praying her heart out to Arceus or finding a way to communicate with it through the specialized smartphone, the deity gave not a single response. She was so confused. So scared still. But that fear of the unknown started to lessen the more she spent time with her Pokémon, with the trusted accomplices from the village, and with the man beside him.
She wondered if Volo realized the way she looked at him. Se sure hoped he didn’t.
When he ate the dish she cooked, her throat bobbed lightly at the sight of a wet tongue licking his lips. When he was excitingly talking about myths and legends, black eyes hovered slightly to the simple shine of his smiling mouth. When he brought his face close to her while hiding from an Alpha, her heart throbbed maddeningly at the curiosity of such plush lips.
When he smiled a smile that rivalled the radiance of the sun, Akari realized far too late that she was already blinded by it.
Finally. Finally. After months of venturing with him, Akari received her silent, selfish wish.
It was the day before their visit to the Temple of Sinnoh. They found all the plates—at least, that’s what Akari believed. They went through so much together. They fought together. Ate together. Even slept together—albeit in different tents.
Maybe. Just maybe. Today would be the day she crossed the single line between them.
She was nervous. He was excited. Akari believed—believed—that she would soon find the answers to her being thrown here. Volo always told her that he was just as excited—ecstatic even—to finally learn the truth about the world. He was exuberant when the truth about the markings was revealed. She remembered his laugh.
His laugh. It was supposed to sound cheerful. He was always cheerful. However, it was giddy. Too giddy. Crackled with hazy mania that almost sent an unnerving shiver down her spine.
Volo then looked at her, giving that lovely smile which so easily calmed her down.
Maybe she was hearing things. They did have a long day after all.
So Akari suggested that they camped out near Mount Coronet. That way, they would get a head-start on their journey tomorrow morning. Volo happily accepted, mouth still swirled with smiles that tickled a queasy part of her.
As night rolled by, another fear struck her: Would this be the last time they travelled together?
Maybe. Possibly. Volo would soon find his answers tomorrow at the temple. Akari would finally seek the way home. The idea—the hope—that she would finally meet her family, her friends, brought such joy that she wondered if this was too good to be true.
It might be. And Akari should hold on to that rationality rather than pathetic hope.
But her brain was already muddled along with her heart at the presence of one man before her.
  “I...really like you!”
Those words came out so hastily, so out of breath that it made her pant as if she had run a marathon. Cheeks flared. Heart pounded. Fear held her head down while anxiety twitched and curled her fingers against one another.
Silence was a response she hated.
It was a mistake, she thought. It was a mistake and she had destroyed a perfectly trusted friendship in a world that could swallow her whole. Tears began to disrupt her vision. Oh what a fool she felt. To think that he had any semblance of romantic love for her. All that he did, he did it out of kindness. Just like his possible descendant, Volo was friendly with her at best and pitying her at worst.
She wanted to run. She needed—!
Eyes that she never realized were closed snapped open once she felt soft hands on warm cheeks.
  “Akari...”
As she looked up, jet black eyes were swallowed by pupils at the feel of lips against hers.
Her whole body froze. Jolted at the touch. A scream was choked inside a suddenly dry throat. Realization hit faster than she could breath a second breath. Shock and stupor and bafflement and disbelief spiralled inside her that ceased all functions of the brain and heart.
  Finally, they separated.
A short, firm kiss was released with a tiny pop. Larger hands were still on hotter cheeks. Each thumb caressed the skin, drawing out a blush that burned straight to the tips of her ears.
  Breathless, Akari looked at him.
Gray eyes shined beautifully in the light of the campfire. His smile brightened her vision, tickled her stomach heartlessly. Pale pink lips, warm to the touch, were parted slightly. They throbbed lightly, reminding her that the moment they just shared was not a mere dream.
“I like you too, Akari.” Volo answered, voice lulled with such softness that made her shiver. One hand moved to her mouth, thumb gently brushing over her lower lip. “I like you...” Gray eyes locked onto a pair of wide blacks. “A lot...” Their faces were close once again, though Volo only brushed his nose against hers.
Their distance was a mere breath away. The man didn’t move an inch, this time silently asking for her permission to continue where they left off.
A single teardrop trailed down her cheek. A soft, single chuckle breathing through a parted smile, Volo brushed it away with a touch that could ensnare her heart forever. “Akari...” Her name was whispered so softly, so lovingly. “Akari...” He playfully nuzzled the tip of her nose with his. A smile curled so cheekily, accompanied by warmth that dusted his cheeks. “Akari...”
Her name felt like a mantra, a prayer. She shivered once again.
Unable to handle the hurricane in the heart, Akari wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled for another kiss. Eyes closed shut, she felt him flinch. The tiniest fear in her heart frazzled once she felt him return the kiss with just as much fervour.
She felt one hand move to the back of her head. A tiny gasp popped open, and Akari muffled a meek moan at the taste of his tongue jutting into her mouth. Her tongue met his, and Akari shivered delightfully to feel it push and pull so deliciously.
  Pop.
  “Volo—!”
His name was a pathetic pant as Volo brought her tongue to his mouth before tangling further. Their tongues twisted and turned, coating more saliva that robbed both the need to breathe. Gasping for air, Akari reflexively gripped strands of blonde locks at the feel of her lower lips being sucked so desperately.
She mimicked him once she was released, and this earned her a deep growl that made the spot between her thighs shake with heavy want.
  Pop!
  Suddenly, the kiss broke.
Shockingly, it was Akari who had pushed him away.
Shaking hands pressed roughly on his chest. Black eyes were now as wide as they could be. Even in the faint light of the fire, Akari would be fool to believe that her face was not all shades of red right now.
  “Akari?”
That voice. That lilt. She gulped heavily to settle herself down.
“Volo—!” Seconds felt like hours, she finally looked up. Right at the man of her dreams. Right at the thief of her heart. Right at the at the person whose beauty sent people in awe—even more so with the breath-taking shade of crimson.
Right at the lips that were parted and wetted by a tantalizing tongue.
  She was happy. Delighted. Excited.
All the emotions of the sort bubbled madly inside of her as she shined a bright smile. “Geez!" Unable to handle the fireworks in her, Akari cupped her face and bowed her head low.
It seems that embarrassment only haunted one of them.
A laugh, loud and amused echoed the night air. As Akari kept her shame down, she flinched briefly to feel a short kiss on the top of her head.
  “My dear Akari...”
Ah, she thought, this is what it’s like huh... To feel utter bliss that paved the way for hope.
A first kiss was truly a wonderful moment.
Reality sunk in. Hope bloomed her life anew. Heart fluttered madly in her chest, Akari pounced on Volo for a meek hug. She giggled joyfully to feel his arms around her—tightly. Securely.
  Painfully.
  She didn’t realize. She couldn’t.
Volo rested his mouth on the top of her head. His face shielded by thick longs of blonde. His grip hard and unmoving around a warm, petite body.
A first love was truly a wonderful thing.
However, as the night—the little hours they had left—burned away, she would soon learned that it was also the bane of a withering heart.

Slumber | VLKR
Sunlight poured soothingly through the windowpane. Faint sounds of people walking about and louder sounds of Pokémon prancing around the house shook the woman awake. Low grumbles tickled her lips. Twitching at the ray of sun kissing her eyelids, Akari rubbed one eye before slowly sitting up.
Arms stretched upwards, she let out a yawn. Sleeves of her jinbei slid downwards. Black strands hair cascaded forward as she tilted her head forward.
Ah, I’m so lazy, the thought crossed her mind. In truth, she would rather take a few more hours of sleep. However, she knew her work would not accept her in doing so. As much as she was the hero of the village, she wasn’t excused from working in order to survive. Besides, Akari knew better than to bear Commander Kamado’s ruthless scoldings or incite Cyllene’s quiet fury.
Black eyes peeked at the man beside her.
He peacefully snoozed, face snuggled inside the hadakake futon. Though blonde strands covered most of his eyes, Akari could see such a serene expression. The man lay on his left side, facing her. She wondered if he ever moved in his sleep considering that the only movement from him was that he had scooted an inch backwards after snuggling with her last night.
Ah, her cheeks burned at the memory.
   A smile tugged her mouth.
At times like these, her heart truly fluttered for him.
“Alright then…” mumbling to herself, Akari carefully lifted her side of the quilt and slid out—
Or at least, she tried to, if not for her right wrist being firmly gripped.
Her smile popped to a gape. Akari turned to the right. “Volo?!” Shock roused her awake. Widened eyes blinked at her held wrist, then at the man whose face was still hidden beneath the quilt.
He muttered not a word, but grumbled a low grumble.
After years of being together, she knew what it meant completely.
“Volo…” a sigh escaped through pink lips. “I need to get ready. I need to go to Veilstone Cape today and I can’t afford to be late.” Lightly, she tugged her left hand.
Firmly, he held her right wrist still.
Surprise bubbled into annoyance. “Volo.” Again, she called his name. “Come on. If I’m late, I’m gonna get scolded. Do you want me to get scolded?” Mean as she was to try and guilt trip him, Akari found her actions justified as she saw him not easing up on his hold.
He still didn’t say a peep. He still had his face hidden.
What she once thought was cute a minute ago now started to irritate her. “Volo—!”
   “Stay…”
The very spark of her anger dissolved in an instant once she heard his low voice.
His hand lowered from her wrist to the back of her hand. Fingers gingerly brushed the back of it. Mumbling incoherent noises, Volo positioned his hand so that he could hold hers properly. Fingers squeezed around the sides of her fingers. Gently. Softly.
   Finally, Volo lowered the quilt.
Grey eyes glazed in a mix of slumber and affection. Volo peeked upwards at the stunned women. “Please stay…” he pleaded, voice deep and husky. Though left eye hidden behind blonde locks, Volo quietly begged with a glance of his right eye. Blush kissed his cheeks too, shading adorably under his eyes. Whether or not his actions were done subconsciously, he gently pulled her right hand and pressed a meek kiss at the back of her fingers.
The sight and sound alone were robbing her of air.
As if an arrow had shot straight to the screaming heart, Akari tightly pursed her mouth before letting out a heavy sigh. Heat now burning to the tips of her ears, she stifled a low, low, moan that vibrated in her throat.
Damn him. Damn him, damn him!
“F-Fine…” Knowing she was fighting a losing battle, Akari slid back into the futon. She could worry about the consequences later.
Hell, she didn’t need to worry about anything at all once she felt her body being pulled to a warm hug.
“Mmm…” Mouth tickled to a brief smile. Volo pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Akari…” Her name slurred in a deep murmur, he then nuzzled the top of her head. Right arm draped around her waist, pulling her to a possessive embrace that showed no signs of letting go anytime soon. Within seconds, he fell back into deep sleep, breathing tickling the tip of her still burning ear.
Ah, I’m so screwed, the thought crossed her mind. Still, she couldn’t be angry as Akari scooted closer into his warm chest. His heart seemed to race still, actually lulling her back to a world of dreams.
A shaky smile accompanied her hot face as Akari felt her eyelids droop.

Distracted (Arven/SV Protag)
Her hands looked small.
Arven felt like a pervert to be staring for so long, even if the object of his focus were fingers that were small yet slightly callous. He saw them twitch. He saw them curl. He wondered what it’s like to have those hands grasped by his own. He wondered how it felt to have his palm brush against hers. Though head faced forward, green eyes sneaked a peek at her hands, at fingers that tap tap at a log which tugged a cord of innocent desire in his heart—
“Arven?”
Shock seeped in, then panic slurred out at the possibility that he was busted. “A-Ah—yes?” Quickly he looked at her, thick bangs covering one of his eye and the shameful heat that kissed his cheeks.
Luckily, Teratai didn’t seem to realize what he was looking at when she curiously asked, “Is everything okay?”
He was thankful. Truly.
“Yep!” In a blink, he stood up—then staggered slightly at the head rush that shook him. “Just thinking what to eat next!” Short laughter burst out, masking the sheer embarrassment that now spiralled his brain and heart.
While Arven was washing away the shame that took over him, Teratai was still lost in the sea of her interest.
His chest looked big.
Teratai felt like a degenerate to be staring for so long, even if the object of her focus was layered with a school uniform and thick vest. She saw him take a deep breath. She saw him turn his waist left and right. She wondered what it’s like to have her arms wrapped around his waist. She wondered how it felt to lie her head against his chest. Though head tipped upwards in his direction, black eyes dripped to the sight of his glorious chest, of the quite frantic movement of his breathing which squeezed a puddle of ache in her stomach—
“Teratai?”
Her sudden responses of a shout and body shooting up straight made him slide a step backwards. “I said—” Another breath was taken, “—do you...want to come with me and find some ingredients for lunch today?”
Shit! “Yes!”
Silence became her next reply. A blink once. Twice.
“Ah.” After the third blink, her mouth then lay agape. “Yes. Sure!” Knowing full well her face would match the colour of her hair, Teratai spun around and snatched her backpack. “Let’s go. The heat is getting to me.” One hand sliding the bag onto her shoulder, Teratai fanned her suddenly hot face with her left hand.
Arven wanted to ask whether she was ill—truly, he did not think of anything else. But seeing that his heart was still racing and his face felt just as warm (because of the sun, of course), he decided not to question further.
Still, the sight of her blushed face and awkward laugh still did numbers on his frantic heart. And to see her hand again...
Her hand was callous still, but Arven wanted nothing more than to hold it, to cup it, to kiss—
“Perfect!” Gripping the straps of his backpack, Arven released one of his grip to show a thumbs-up. “Let’s go find some good deals, little buddy!”
Truly, Teratai needed Anastasia to whack her head as she was so easily entranced by a single flex of a muscle behind two layers of clothing.
“Yup!” She returned his gesture with her own. “Let’s go...big guy!”
Ah, she really wanted her Tinkaton to whack her to the sky instead to hear such a lively laugh.

Entranced | VLKR
What a beautiful man he was.
Palms rested on his cheeks. They felt warm to the touch. A hint of red only warmed her palms even more. The sight looked so breath-taking. So ethereal. At times like these, she couldn’t believe that the man sitting before her could even think of committing such blasphemous acts in the past. Hell, she was still in disbelief that in some sheer miracle, he was able to bare his heart for her to embrace.
One hand brushed such long, blonde locks.
   “Enjoying the view, my dear?”
His voice. His sweet, saccharine voice.
It ceased the hand that had brushed his hair. It stopped her fingers that now caressed the smooth skin of his forehead.
What a beautiful man he was.
Grey eyes softened at her presence. Pupils dilated slightly, glistening even as they matched the affectionate smile that tickled his lips. Bending slightly to meet her height, Volo held the hand that still rested on his cheek.
   Her hand was soft. Reassuring.
He gazed into the jet-black eyes. Like little pools of hypnotizing abyss, Volo let himself be sucked into a trance. It would always be a question as to how they came to be. And there would always be an answer as to why his heart now beat for her.
“Mm…” was what she replied. Pink lips pursed briefly, holding back an embarrassed groan that only enticed him further.
Gaze never torn away, Volo gently slid her left palm towards his mouth and planted a kiss.
Oh, how his smile widened behind her hand to see hear her cute squeak.
   Her lower lip jutted.
What a cruel man he was.
Knowing that her blush was redder than his, Akari only slid her free hand back to the side of his face. Both point and middle fingers gently pinched his cheek, pressing them in such featherlike squeezes that he could barely feel it.
He felt her love, however. Pure and true.
Ah, what a dangerous woman she was.
Deciding to indulge in the blissful moment, Volo pressed another kiss on her palm. Again and again, silently declaring his vows that only she could understand. He closed his eyes just for a moment, then blinked them open again so that he could engrave the very picture of her presence forever.
His gaze was searing. Scalding. Absolutely fervid.
   Delicious shivers prickled her skin.
She didn’t know why, but a sense of giddiness bubbled a newfound confidence. Bells of laughter softly chimed through soft lips. Sitting up straight, Akari decided to tease him back with a jab of her own. “You love me that much, huh?”
   “Ardently…”
Her silly little plan burned completely at the sudden reply.
   It was quiet. Sincere. True.
Upon hearing such an honest response, Akari was truly at lost for words. Heat had burned right to the tips of her ears, and the young woman could only bare so much embarrassment before looking away.
Not a single laughter was heard.
Instead, chu…chu… all she heard and felt were his kisses that now traced down to her wrist.
Ah, what a dangerous man he was.
Biting the insides of her lower lip, Akari looked at Volo.
His smile was still there. Still hidden behind her wrist. It curved so beautifully. So genuinely.
She loved him. Very much so too.
Heart beating wildly in her chest, Akari only shook her head to shake off her feverish excitement.
Volo only looked at her. Alive and well. Breath-taking and utterly, completely mesmerizing.
Truly, his kisses trailed the pulsing nerves inside her wrist, what a beautiful woman you are.
