realizing she had so far failed to give him any explanations, a gentle ring of laughter escaped yena. “oh, i’m not expecting you to drink it, don’t worry. just, hold it for me yeah?” she instructed, letting her eyes sweep the ballroom for a second before continuing her explanation. “i don’t want anyone on my case about burning through my drinks too fast and when you’re holding a drink, no one else will come bother you about how you should drink.” she smiled triumphantly, like she had come up with the masterplan of the year. “i figured it would be a win-win for us both. just, look natural yeah?”

ooc notes: most submitted rumors that were used ended up being blind items because of their factors (request to be a blind item, the rumor was false, or it wasn’t clear what the source would be, etc)! that said, all blind items were written with hints (such as song titles) so that muns could say that it was widely assumed to be about their muse if they wanted to so it could affect their development even without them being outright named. 

today seoul would be posting rumors about other celebrities too, not only idols or people from the three canon companies, so muns are welcome to also say their muse isn’t really narrowed in on because a blind item also matches an npc or npcs.

ic notes: today seoul’s website and social media will be taken down about twenty-four hours after they make these posts without immediate information available as to why. this will not occur during the run of the event, but i’m sharing it in case muns end up wanting to write about any fallout that takes place shortly after the event as non-event writing.

Time of Drop

10:00pm

Rumors claim that Singer J would have done anything to stay in the debut line-up of the group she went on to debut in. She went so far as to physically fight another trainee who was in the running to debut. It wasn’t a dumb decision, because the trainee left the company and J was able to debut instead.

Singer T is nothing short of a loose cannon behind the scenes. Some of his bad behavior has gotten out, but it’s gotten so bad that his agency has been forced to use their power to mask it all as him working too hard. The reality is that T likes to do things he shouldn’t when he’s overseas and thinks no one recognizes him. When he gets close enough to getting caught, his agency has to take him out of the public eye to quell rumors. Everyone’s bound to catch on at some point and then what little company-concocted sympathy there is left for him will run dry.

Girl group member M would rather not be known by that label. She’s not a rookie anymore and recently made the decision to continue on with her group, but it’s all for appearances at the behest of her company. She doesn’t get along with any of her members and would rather break out as a soloist in the face of her recent success in that field. How did her company convince her staying with her group wasn’t a dumb dumb decision? With special treatment.

Idol M is a miracle of a natural beauty in the idol industry. Or so she and her company would like everyone to think. Find the right plastic surgery clinic, and their records wouldn’t remember the same. She got work done young, when nobody knew her name. She’s far from the only one who’s gone under the knife in her industry, but a source was so sick of the lying.

Celebrity H has gotten into some controversies over the years. He’s gotten a number of big opportunities of late in spite of this. In truth, H secretly comes from a chaebol family with plenty of money and influence behind their name. Could it be possible H’s family’s influence has allowed him to continue his career unscathed without his company and the public sending him on his way back home despite his downfalls?

Boy group member J is in a group pushed for their skills and his company has a good image, so their fans like to boast about how perfect they are as idols and as people. It looks like J has them fooled because according to a former classmate, he was known for his bad behavior in high school. He didn’t make friends due to his attitude and classmates recount him making their time in school with him a living nightmare, going so far as to get into physical altercations with other students. Looks like J really is a fighter.

Idol Y is a part of a group that still has some way to go to get closer to the top of the industry. According to staff, Y doesn’t care about keeping up the hardworking rookie attitude because she never takes work seriously. Instead of practicing hard to help her group rise, she spends most of her time sleeping, eating, and playing games. Staff are growing annoyed with her because she’s old enough to know better. There are plenty of other girl groups willing to take her group’s spot, so Y should stop flying so close to that red sun with her behavior.

Girl group member A is in a group known for their sweet images, but the way A acts behind the scenes has staff wishing she would cheer up. She apparently has an attitude problem when she’s unhappy with what’s given to her. Idol A has been seen arguing with stylists about her outfits backstage because she was unhappy with their choices, according to an anonymous witness. A must be sending a signal she thinks she’s too popular to respect staff now.

Singer E’s company was quick to push her into a solo singing career not long after her group debuted without waiting for them to get closer to group success. She’s become a budding singer-songwriter, but it’s alleged that all of her inspiration comes from her serial dating lifestyle. She may look innocent, but her looks make her a liar liar because underneath, her secret is that she’s a fox who’s known for dating men only to write songs about them. They’re lured in by her soft and sweet looks and persona, but are left heartbroken when she runs dry of songs to write about them.

Idol L and Idol M were in a long-term relationship until M’s debut brought their relationship to a close. Idol L was already debuted during the time they dated, and had found some automatic success in her group due to her unique situation. It’s unclear whether L and M ended on good or bad terms, but if there was any ill will it’s gone now, because sources close to the pair say they expect the two to get back together. They’re both still young, so maybe this time their relationship will be just right.

A source claims to have proof that they overheard Ultraviolet’s Lux loudly complaining about Gold Star Media seemingly having little interest in the songs they’ve submitted for a solo debut they badly want. Ultraviolet might be only two years post-debut with the kind of success most of their peers can only dream of, but seemingly, that isn’t enough for Lux when others are getting more opportunities.

Former idol A who debuted under BC Entertainment in the early 2000s has come forth to share evidence with Today Seoul that her former company blackmailed her for years to keep her out of the industry. A was a jewel in BC Entertainment’s crown, but chose to leave the company with plans to join a smaller agency. After she left BC Entertainment in the late 2000s, not only did broadcast stations, agencies, and brands not want to work with her for fear of getting on BC Entertainment’s bad side, but the company gathered information from her former managers and threatened to out details of her personal life and background, and even to spread false rumors about her, to the media if she continued to try to work in the industry. Instead of continuing her career as planned, A was forced to retire from the industry.

According to documents acquired by Today Seoul, Dimensions Entertainment is at risk of facing a lawsuit. According to sources with knowledge of the investigation, Dimensions Entertainment is being investigated for fraudulent debt calculation and fraudulently high penalties toward trainees who terminated their contracts early and left the company. The former trainees claimed Dimensions Entertainment specifically targeted a few of the trainees they had no plans of debuting with harsh behavior from employees to pressure them to terminate their contracts so that the company could demand they pay back fraudulent expenses from their training. One former trainee also accuses Dimensions Entertainment of stealing a song they wrote and not crediting them on the song when it was released after they left the company. A group of former trainees have recently been in contact with lawyers to discuss suing Dimensions Entertainment.

An investigation into tax evasion by high-ranking Gold Star Media executive B recently spread into a larger investigation of the practices of the company. There is reportedly suspicion that Gold Star Media has been evading taxes and high-ranking executives such as B have been embezzling money through the use of paper companies they claimed were set up for the furthering of their artists’ global activities outside of South Korea. B is allegedly the mastermind behind the scheme and was questionably brought onto his position through a close personal connection to Gold Star Media CEO Bang Sunyoung, despite having no job history that qualified him for his position. Some sources with insight into Gold Star Media claim B is in a romantic relationship with the Gold Star CEO and she has also benefitted from the embezzled funds.

initially, jaein hadn’t given much thought to the theme of the gala. hell, she barely gave any thought to the gala itself other than noticing that it was just another addition on her schedule board. once she stepped in, however, she’s noticed that this wasn’t just some regular company-held event. no, it seemed quite clear that it was more than that. the amount of money that must have gone into the venue was insane, and she could imagine so many better ways that money could have been spent. 

“i took a peak at the garden, and it’s clear that they’ve put a lot of thought and money into this. the whole ceiling looked like it cost more than my yearly salary,” she confessed with a scoff. she hadn’t spent too much time there because every second she stayed in the garden, the more she realized that it was bathing in crystals. a little too much for her poor eyes.

so this fit would be mostly gucki, going off of the ‘meeting with good feelings’ sung had w gucci earlier in the year. and it’s mostly based around the concept in the jongin pic used, so like the feather vest over a suit, with the chain collar (the full version it chains down to belt level. call it commitment to chained up’s concept < 3) the shirt under the suit jacket would likely be sparkly, thinking of the sequins pictured above, blue and black coloration, but probably more dainty than phat sequins. n that gucki ring fit the theme so i tacked it on. this aesthetic is v much more a Vibe than exact pieces. if it wasn’t a gala where sung had to b v professional like this, i would have put him in [x] and honestly ! i wanna find an excuse to use it anyway it’s iconic

okay before we turn up the skepticism LISTEN to what i have to say !!!  when joohwan heard about the theme for the gala being among the stars, she immediately thought sci-fi/futuristic concept and she called her stylist to exchange some ideas about it. they thought about doing something more discreet and whatnot but they came to the conclusion that this was pretty much the only chance hwan would have of actually doing something slightly more avant garde (for an amab person), SO hwan gave the name of the one designer she thought she’d never be able to wear something of: iris van herpen. 

iris is like... a fucking genius and joohwan is obsessed with her. there’s not a lot that hwan could wear from her collection (and it’s not like she has enough pull to get a commission lmao) BUT iris has a couple of jumpsuits that joohwan’s stylist managed to grab and adjust to fit hwan in a way that isn’t too scandalous. so obviously it’s not fitted the way a woman’s jumpsuit is, and in this case the fabric was made less transparent with a cover underneath. hwan didn’t give up on the cape though!!!! the cape is important!!! not very practical and people would step all over it several times but you know what hwan doesn’t care.

basically hwan is treating this like a mini met gala. the shoes are from scry and not as scandalous as hwan wishes she could wear because it would be Too much if she showed up in heels i’m sure, and the jewelry is also as basic as possible especially because the jumpsuit is already doing a lot isn’t it. the picture on the top left is more for reference of hairstyle and make up since hwan has chopped off her hair post break up as one would. anyway. yeah. hwan understood the assignment.

for someone so lonesome, he sure knows how to isolate himself from the crowd. from afar, he can still hear the extraordinarily loud chatter of the other partygoers; their conversations, their whispers, making it seem like he’s trapped in the middle of them even though he’s in a different room. while he knows that connecting with everyone will drastically improve his mood, there’s some part of him that gets overwhelmed being around so many others. he’s had to do that so often over the last few months that, for once, he wants to find a quiet place to collect himself; to take a deep breath & center himself before engaging with anyone. it’s unfortunate that his schedule has been so insane as of late, & it’s because of that, that he hasn’t had much time for himself—much time to 𝒏𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 & care for the boy who has no one else to care for him. it sounds depressing, but it’s tragically true. ever since he moved into his own apartment, he returns home after each commitment with a sense of emptiness that he cannot fill on his own, & in all honesty, it’s starting to cripple him. more than anything, this feeling just makes him angry—just so frustrated at himself.

he made a big deal about wanting to be trusted to live on his own, & he felt ready enough to take that step forward, but now that he’s attempting it, he’s realizing that it’s a lot more difficult than it seemed. as someone extroverted, contact is crucial for rioh—& he’s received little-to-none over the last few months. it’s sad to him that it affects him so much, but he can’t help how he feels. sighing out of stress, his boot-clad feet saunter through the mostly vacant gallery, his sights suddenly setting on a painting that looks like two individuals 𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈; its style more abstract & eye-catching than some of the others.

pausing, his pupils fixate on the exquisite detail that the artist used when creating it; the subjects’ arms being intertwined in such a complicated & beautiful fashion. his chest starts flooding with warmth & heaviness, a sensation he’s not sure is good or bad in this moment.

wanting to distract himself, he peers down into the glass of wine that he’s holding, & once he does, he watches as a few tears fall into it; his free hand hastily reaching upward to dab at his eyes due to the surprising rush of emotion that overtakes him. what makes all of this worse is that he hears a set of footsteps coming up from behind him, & all he can do is hope that they didn’t see him lose his composure for a split second. the last thing he wants to do is talk about his emotions & end up 𝒓𝒖𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 someone’s night by sobbing on their shoulder.

the gardens couldn’t be more beautiful, and the fact that they were still indoors, but the skylight gave them access to the most beautiful night outside just made things even better. sooah’s having the time of her life in this event. the theme is perfect; she has been seeing people left and right and talking to so many friends she hasn’t seen in a long time. she wasn’t even feeling that overwhelmed by everything that’s happening. in perfect sooah style, she was just happy to be around so many people again.

so, it’s safe to say that she isn’t hiding in the gardens. she just needed a breather for a few moments before going back to shaking people’s hands and catching up with the people she’s closest to. the view is just a plus.

she’s sat in one of the benches, and sooah has been looking up to the sky for the past five minutes at least, appreciating how easy it was to just stay there. she was distracted, not paying attention to what was happening around her because it’s none of her business what others do. distracted enough to not see max before it was too late. she had just missed her cue to get up and leave without making it look rude, so sooah just scoots over and tries to sit as far from the other side of the bench as she can without falling. sooah doesn’t say a thing, she just turns her body to the opposite side and looks up again, pretending to pay attention to the stars.

it was inevitable for sunghee to end up here at one point. the moment they heard about the performances happening at the “basement”, sunghee knew they had to find a way to get out of every single conversation they were dragged into in order to watch the performances for a little bit. it felt awkward in a way for them to be there. for starters, they knew that most of the perfomers looked down on them. as an idol, no matter how good they became as a rapper, none of them would ever respected them fully as an artist. sunghee didn’t think that they needed that, per se, but it was conflicting admiring someone who would always look down on them. 

sunghee wasn’t willing to dwell on that, though, would much rather enjoy what they were watching rather than wallow in self doubt. focused as they were in the performance, they only realised they weren’t alone when there was a bit of a lull, a short pause between one performer and the next, which had them leaning closer to jeonghwa to speak to her. sunghee wished they could pull her to their lap, but not being interested in causing a bit of a scene kept them from doing it. “you look nice,” they whispered to her, hand brushing softly against her thigh. “actually, you look really hot. but that’s just... how you usually look, isn’t it?”

aesthetic & headcanon — among the stars

summary / among the stars and she keeps it simple taking in the two different eras of fashion. the era of pin-up girls in the 1940′s, and the touches of fashion in the 1960′s and she’s somewhere gliding in the in-between. no need for avant garde touches, she only follow suits with the formal lines of dress code. there’s no real reason to any of her choices — just the conclusion that fashion is best accompanied by a glass of dom perignon. headcanon detailing the outfit in detail warnings / alcohol mentions wc / 687

yes, i know the dress in picture is a chanel piece — but in my head, minjung reaches out to dior because she is their asia-pacific ambassador and of course, she has to rep their brand. on top of it, she asks specifically if kim jones, the menswear designer, instead of maria grazia chiuri, the womenswear head, could design it. this choice is mainly because she likes to sleeker geometrical cuts of kim jones designs rather than the pattern-heavy and amorphous silhouettes that maria grazia chiuri tends to fall in

i (don’t know if it is allowed but) wanted to say that kim jones hears, and says yes because of minjung’s consistent partnership with the brand — plus, he can get that coverage since he’s taken over as fendi’s womenswear collection too

what he designs is something relatively boring to most, but to minjung she likes how it feels like a slip dress — a play on the lingerie silhouette, especially because she’s not wearing the tights in the picture. instead, i imagine it to be a bit longer so that her butt doesn’t hang out and it wouldn’t be considered too scandalous for an idol to wear

the main point is she wears a dior piece!!

but anyways, minjung loves the color blocking too — because dior is predominantly known for its logo play now a days, and the emphasis on floral, she’s spotted wearing their casual ready to wear clothes. rarely, does dior allow her to get away with an evening attire that is so plain looking (had this been the met gala, she’d been ripped to shreds on the “boring” choice. but it’s no met gala — it’s in seoul and there’s no asap and rihanna there to correct her fashion).

the dress also reminds her of twiggy in the 1960’s. the short cut, and the A-line cut is very mod, and a retro inspired piece. though there’s no real trend being brought back to the 1960’s and it’s more about the 1990’s — it kind of rings true to minjung because she doesn’t really follow that many fashion trends

for shoes, she reverted to just plain louboutins — the plain black stilettos. despite how much they hate her feet, the reason why louboutins were chosen was because of the red sole that complements her red lip. in any other case, she’d be sporting dior heels but imagine this dress and the j’adior slingbacks?? really bad choice, so her stylists confirmed with dior that she could wear louboutins (besides, there’s no real competition between dior and louboutins on the whole luxury pyramid hierarchy lmao. had she worn chanel heels or hermes? then, that’d been a problem)

going back to makeup, her look continues to be relatively simple. barely any eye makeup besides a cat-eye because the main point is the glossy red lips that are merely a reflection of the glossy soles of a louboutin heel.

the make-up and hair is what throws it back to the pin-up girls of 1940’s. she has that one side slicked back (idk what this hairstyle is called), and a black flower to pin the other side. it’s very pin-up esque of the 1940’s, plus the red lip also just adds to that factor

with that said, the rest of her outfit depends on accessories. knowing that the pieces and makeup she has are relatively simple, she continues in minimalism with just two dainty pieces of jewelry courtesy of dior — gold jewelry, because her stylists wouldn’t let her wear silver. thicker hoop earrings which are able to be seen with her hair style and rings that make the entire outfit more ‘modern’ rather than some conglomeration of different eras of fashion

all in all, she doesn’t give a f about what she wears or what makeup she has on. she’s just appreciative of kim jones’ piece, keeping it forever as a keepsake. she wants to get out of her heels asap, and the only thing she cares to accessorize with is a glass of dom perignon to keep her steady throughout the night.

infamous news outlet exclusive is more known for outing scandals and playing friendly in their downtime with mediaplay articles than they are for throwing lavish parties. a recent change in management seems to have plans to change that.

exclusive has announced they’ll be hosting what is meant to be the event of 2021. joined by several other sponsors including top korean fashion magazines and top brands, exclusive has announced the 2021 exclusive gala with the theme of "among the stars”. the theme is in part a promise of what will be an impressive guest list of hot celebrities, from top actors to trendy idols to foreign models, but is also more explicitly a reference to star and space-themed luxe decor, with a garden atrium to stargaze (or stare up at the city light pollution) and a swarovski crystal partnership that is sure to have every corner of the venue sparkling, and a request on all invitations to interpret the theme accordingly in what is worn.

in an ode to the year of 2021, exclusive has made a clear statement they plan to control the last hot topic of the year in a new way.

unfortunately, exclusive isn’t the only one looking for buzz and there’s revenge creeping around the corner.

information:

exclusive will be hosting a gala at a brand new, spacious event venue in seoul. they’ve gone all out for the event, picking a theme and sticking to it. the hottest celebrities of the year are expected to attend, and all idols under bc entertainment, dimensions entertainment, and gold star media have earned an invite thanks to the recent exclusive x base partnership.

attendance is mandatory for all idols under these companies, as it’s expected to be a source of good publicity. there will be a red carpet all guests will walk individually before the event for press photos. all guests are expected to be dressed to the nines to fit the “among the stars” theme of the gala. as the gala is sponsored by several fashion magazines and brands and everyone is walking the carpet individuality, attendees are allowed to be more “out-there” with their fashion than on a normal year-end show red carpet, although the idols in attendance are still expected to dress appropriately for their image.

exclusive has rented the whole venue for the night and will be the first event to be held at the center. constructed with the purpose of offering areas for different types of parties and events, exclusive has rented the full space and will be utilizing it. a visual board of how the venue and themed decorations would look can be found here. a rundown of locations in the venue can be found further down in this post.

as the gala enters the final hours of what seems to be a successful event, a buzz starts to spread throughout the venue. today seoul, a lesser known competitor to exclusive more known for regurgitating press releases than breaking scandals, and who has recently hired some disgruntled former exclusive employees who were let go after management changes, has decided to crash the party in their own way. in a bid most will say was for attention and some might say was for revenge, today seoul spends the late hours releasing a steady stream of dirt they have on celebrities in attendance at the party. some of it is true, some of it not so much, but while the idols of bc, dimensions, and gold star are partying it up with other celebrities, today seoul is waging their attempt at a takedown.

today seoul ends the night with an exposé on each of the three idol companies that exclusive has been so curiously keeping secret.

locations:

there will be a few different main locations throughout the venue:

the ground floor lounge will be the area of the venue everyone first enters into as they leave the red carpet. this space is built for socializing and photo-taking. the lounge will be decked out with sponsored goods, from free giftbags with luxury items and vouchers for restaurants and events in seoul to areas with the perfect lighting and furniture set-up to take a few photos for instagram. there will be a room off to the side of the main lounge that will be set up as a self-photo shoot studio, complete with different sets and props. guests will be able to book a self-studio in twenty minute periods individually or in small groups to take photos. the atmosphere here will be more laidback and social and it’s expected that the lounge will house a mix of different celebrity crowds throughout the evening.

the main room of the venue will be decked out with the grandest decorations here and tables will be arranged with seven seats to a table. drinks will be available and food will be presented in a buffet-style for guests to serve themselves and eat at the table. the event will be catered by one of the top catering companies in the country.

the auction room will be another room down the hallway from the lounge and main room. in this room, a silent auction will be held of items donated by big brands and celebrities in attendance. proceeds will go to charity and items will be bid on by guests in attendance. examples of items up for silent auction would be clothing items from luxury brands, high-end home gym equipment, spa packages, tickets to sporting events, etc. idols in attendance may donate an item to be bid on. (muns may plot around other muses bidding on and/or winning the item donated by their muse both during the event and as future plot points. ideas for items include things like signed albums, a one-on-one dance lesson, an art piece made by a muse, a backstage visit to a variety show they’re a cast member of, etc. this is for fun and, in-’verse for charity, so items don’t have to be totally serious. full-on schedules as items and situations a muse wouldn’t have control over should be avoided (ex. a performance at a private event). keep in mind other celebrities (not all idols) would be the bidding audience for this, so npcs can be used here too.)

the gallery is another room on the ground floor of the venue. a few pieces have been graciously lent by local art galleries for an art installation space within the venue that will remain up for a few weeks following the event itself.

the bar is in yet another separate room that takes up a wide space on the third floor of the venue, up two flights of stairs or a quick elevator ride from the main floor. a large bar sits to the far side of the room where drinks can be ordered (non-alcoholic drinks are available). there’s an open space for mingling or dancing. in a space slightly closed off from the rest of the bar, there are pool tables, air hockey tables, and skeeball machines. a music playlist will be playing at a more sociable volume than the live performances in the basement and music videos will be broadcast on a series of televisions in the bar. large floor to ceiling windows cover most of the room for a view of the city.

the basement is more of a full operational sound-proofed space one staircase down from the ground floor of the venue than a traditional grungy basement venue, but it will house a chance for guests to sit back and be in the audience for once. a few of the most popular korean hip hop and r&b artists (think npc artists along the lines of the aomg roster) have been invited to perform sets on a stage in the basement area. their performances will end around 10:15pm, after which a dj will take over. 

the central garden sits in the middle of the building. the area is filled with plants and trees and houses a fountain at the center. it is covered by a glass atrium two floors up. it’s a place to get away from the rest of the event and have some peace, quiet, and privacy among the plants. there are walkways between the plants and benches for guests to rest their legs.

timeline:

5:30pm-7pm: red carpet for press photos and guests enter venue.

7pm~12am: planned span of event (attendees may linger until around 1am, at which point they will begin to be encouraged to start to leave).

10pm: first rumors are posted by today seoul. 

10pm-12am: rumors continue to be posted by today seoul. talk may slowly spread, starting with those bored enough of the event to be scouring the internet.

12am: today seoul drops their article on bc entertainment, dimensions entertainment, and gold star media.

if you wish to have a rumor about your muse released by today seoul during the event, you should submit at least two rumor options for today seoul to publish for your muse. they can be either true or false, but should not be anything major enough to be career threatening. examples of what could work here are rumors about their personality (they had a physical fight with a group member, they look down on staff, they stole/sabotaged a group member’s solo activity, staff say they’re incredibly hard to work with), rumors about their background or family (their parent was caught embezzling at their company, they got into their company through family connections), dating rumors (without picture proof), or just “odd” behavior. technically, these can be positive as well, but it’s encouraged it’s still “gossip-y” in some way, whether that be comparing them to others or questioning their intentions.

this is optional, but is your chance to throw your muse into some gossip without it defining their image too much since so much will be dropping at once. generally, these rumors will not count as a scandal against nation’s title claim purposes unless the mun contacts the main to pursue rumors blowing up into bigger scandals down the line separate from the event. you may plot with another mun to have a combined rumor, and any rumors involving another muse should be approved by that mun.

the admin will choose between the rumors you submit for your muse to try to optimize variety and make sure nothing’s too extreme for the context. less major rumors may keep names in tact, while bigger rumors may be made into blind items that do not directly include the muse’s name. if none of your suggestions work for some reason, you may be contacted for other ideas.

in game, this event takes place on the night of monday, december 27, but threads and other posts for this event may be started from monday, november 29 at 12am est / monday, november 29 at 2pm kst (the time this post goes up), to sunday, january 2 at 11:59pm est / monday, january 3 at 1:59pm KST.

the night is draped in the kind of luxury mirae still feels a little out of place in. celebrity has pushed her into more galas and luxurious gatherings she can count, and she really does love them. there’s nothing quite like being in a mass of people, friends and strangers alike, decked head to toe in diamonds that shine under the chandelier lights and glimmering gold fabric that hugs her every curve.

but there are still moments that give her the feeling of impostor syndrome. she’d not surrounded by chaebols wrapped securely in their generational wealth to remind her how she’s barely new money, but being in the auction room, surrounded by luxury items and in-group opportunities that would have fed her family for a week, she starts to feel dirty in her own skin until she escapes for fresh air.

the lights and crystals speckling the central garden are pretty like stars, and she’s so captivated by them in the midst of her distraction plan that she nearly trips and falls flat on her face over someone else’s feet. well-trained balance from walking and dancing in heels pays off, because she catches herself by grabbing the branch of a bush and stays upright. “i wasn’t paying attention, my bad,” she apologizes to her unwilling speed bump as she pulls her hand back from the bush she’d grabbed only to see she’d scraped her hand and a prick of blood is oozing from her palm. “oh, shit,” she exhales at the observation.

“alex!” a giddy screech as yena flung herself at her friend, practically jumping onto his back as she wrapped her arms around his back from behind. probably not the best idea, not in the heels yena was wearing and the buzz of alcohol in her system having her already slightly losing her balance, using her friend as leverage to keep her upright. “there you are bitch. i’ve been looking for that stupid handsome face of yours all night.” shifting her position so she’s leaning against his side instead, she wraps one arm around his, linking them together, the other reaches up to cup his jaw, fingers playfully squishing his cheeks. “look at you, all handsome and shit. you’re not trying to upstage me now are you?”

perhaps yena was being just a tad too loud and boisterous but luckily, no one really seemed to be paying any mind to the two of them, it was a big space after all, filled with countless of people. “we should get drinks, i know i could use another one and i’m sure you do too!” an educated guess, usually when the two of them got to hang out, alchohol was involved and well, chaos usually followed soon after. “what do you wanna do after? take some pictures together maybe? we both look far too good to pass up the opportunity! or do you wanna do something else? your pick, just know you’re not getting rid of me for the next couple of hours!”

open starter placed in the central garden!

after a while, duri could only be in the areas that he felt like he couldn’t breath in for so long. he wasn’t sure why he was still so affected by the places where there were a ton of people around him or the fact that he couldn’t use elevators because he felt like he was trapped in them. but, truth be told, he probably was always going to be like that. not being able to be in small spaces or anything of the such. at least with a bunch of people around, he was able to deal with it a bit more easily that he can with others. but, nonetheless, he needed a break for at least ten minutes. that seemed to become a trend now, didn’t it? where he found himself needing to just take a break from everything for just ten minutes. perhaps it was the new way of recharging?

yves saint laurent derbies click against the flooring below them as he moves through the areas that he was in. he moves past people, gently greeting them and saying excuse me as he did. even getting out the crowd of celebrities had managed to make duri feel a bit better, like the oxygen was finally going to his lungs. he had stopped for a moment, just to take in. but, he would move again soon, and go on his way, with an idea of a destination in sight. 

he couldn’t go outside, but he was just going to go with the next best thing - the central garden. there, he could feel like he was outside, just without the cold of the winter that was within the air. but, even so, it felt good enough to be among the flowers and the plants that were around in the central garden. after a bit of a exploration, he sits down. his fingers playing with one another as he just takes the time to himself. truthfully, maybe he should do something different and play a game on his phone, but he was fine with this. his mind was occupied, not even noticing someone was approaching him or anything of that matter.

a long time ago, he would be a liar to say the words didn’t prod into his nerves, or make him second guess the list of his past encounters and past locations. but he’s more experienced now, more primed to face whatever shit life throws at him — any rumor or whisper, he learns how fast it quickly passes over regardless.

he hardly moves in his current state, walking around. he has his mental in check enough that he’s not jetsetting straight to the bar, nor does he want another break of nicotine to soothe. instead, he’s just floating in complacency, all while failing to disregard the stares he swears are directed towards him.

maybe, he’s just looking into it too much.

but the jostle in his pocket already has him pulling out his phone, feeling a gut punch right where it hurts when he reads the words from his friend.

linked: today seoul Celebrity H has gotten into some controversies over the years. He’s gotten a number of big opportunities of late in spite of this. In truth, H secretly comes from a chaebol family with plenty of money and influence behind their name. Could it be possible H’s family’s influence has allowed him to continue his career unscathed without his company and the public sending him on his way back home despite his downfalls?

and the spotlight drops to him, when he feels a blankness come over his body. the emptiness of teetering here and there, the questions that amount to a cesspool of answers he’ll probably never get. so, he moves instead. quickening his pace when he leaves the half-empty room into the corner, his fingers already moving like bullets into the link.

no comments, no questions. just the thoughts of the masses and the evident accumulation of signs that all point to him — like a target, he’s been marked. his heart pounds, and it feels like a subsequent fever dream. eyes that can’t scratch the surface of who’s around — he’s just scrambling at this point.

it’s not very long till the anxious rhythm that drills into his nerves quell into a result of anger, irritation. resentment for the one who decided to divulge more than they could chew. a near decade of keeping his name undercover in the lapse of silence between him and the mirage of a family he’s lost, now it comes to light — now, in the disarray, he’s forced to pick his shit up altogether.

no culprit in thought, just a throbbing identity crisis of connecting the dots. and maybe, there’s a few rationalized choices he could make, one — ignore it till it blows over. but with the content in tow, he knows that’s not a viable choice. two — acknowledge the root. but ten years drives a bigger wedge than awkward conversations, and he’s not man enough to make that decision so soon. three — well, shit. there is no third.
