dancer in the skies (fáfnir x reader)
note: this was something that i have had in my notes for a year and i just wanted to come back to it because i thought it'd be cool to pick up this again!! if you know @/silversouls this is my new account! i lost the password to silversouls/silversouls has memories i rather just forget so i moved here ^^
you were a knight of the sky.
the endless sky, your battlefield yet home to you.
pegasus or wyvern, it did not matter what helped you take to the skies.
the only thing that mattered was you were in the sky.
the heroes lovingly called you the “dancer of the sky”. taking the title with modesty, you held your head high and departed to each battle with optimism and bravery.
but even if the skies were all you could ask for in your short life, your heart felt it yearning for something more.
“summoner,” fáfnir called out to you, his soft voice ringing through the halls. “can you deliver this to reginn?”
snapping out of your daydream, you answered. “of course,” you grabbed the parcel from fáfnir’s hands, feeling the subtle warmth radiating from his gloves.
“i...” you blushed, looking down. the last thing you needed was the king of niðavellir aware of your love for him. “i’ll get this to her straight away!” immediately turning away from the pale man, you rushed off to find reginn and create some distance between the both of you.
you walked down the halls, admiring the various tapestries hung on the walls of the askran castle. blue tapestry adorned with the askran symbol and gold lining...it truly fit a castle like this. you held the parcel with a slight grip, face heating up again from the memory of the sudden encounter with the man who captivated your heart.
"sigh...i can't let myself get so in my dreams." you closed your eyes for a second, only to find yourself on the ground, parcel spilled and the wind knocked out of your sail. when you opened your eyes to see your assailant, it was none other than who the parcel was supposed to go to.
"reginn?" you winced as you got up, dusting yourself off. "why were you running?" reginn bowed and apologized. "i'm sorry!! i was told that fáfnir wanted to give me something but i didnt know he had sent someone to give it to me!" reginn winced at seeing the contents of the parcel spilled out.
"i thought fáfnir wanted me to come over, so i spent some time running around looking for him," reginn carefully put all the contents back into the parcel. "but i never thought he'd asked you." the young girl giggled, a merry bells sounding laugh.
"what do you mean by that?" you narrowed your eyes, not sure what the princess of niðavellir could be implying.
reginn tensed, a nervous smile making to her lips. "oh! well..." she quickly grabbed her parcel. "well i gotta go. i'll see you soon summoner!" just as fast as she ran into you, she ran off once again. as much as you didn't want to admit it, the conversation with reginn had piqued your interest more than it should have.
"never thought he asked me..?" you continued walking, your next stop to the stables. if anything could clear your mind, it was flying on your beloved steed in the never ending sky. "it's probably nothing to really think about, i suppose." you reached your destination, greeting your pegasus with a smile. "hey," you stroked their mane, them snorting in delight. "you're ready to fly again?" they neighed in agreement.
you saddled up and got on, departing into the sky, feeling the wind caress your body. you sighed in happiness feeling the wind in your hair, the wind kissing your skin. nothing as far as you knew could ever beat the feeling of flying. "if only fáfnir could..." you breathed out, drunk on the exhilaration. you blushed deeply at the realization of what you just said. "like fáfnir would like to fly, he doesn't even like it." you fly down, deciding to go rest up for the day.
that was your plan, until your plan has reached an adrupt start. there was a familiar man in the distance awaiting you. you squinted, only to immediately go wide eyed. you flew down, not wanting to keep the king of a nation waiting. "is there," you got off your pegasus, petting their snout. "i can help you with?" you turned around to meet him, your blush shown greatly from the cold airs of askr.
"i wanted," he made his way towards you and your pegasus, brushing the hair ever so slightly. "to ask if you could teach me to fly." if you could be any more red in the face, that moment was certainly now.
"i..can teach you right now!" you tensed up, getting on first. "here," you reached your hand out to fáfnir, smiling a little. "take my hand." the man gripped your hand gently and smiled back, propping himself next to you. you tensed your shoulders and blushed.
"you can um...put your arms around my waist so you don't fall off." fáfnir snaked his arms around your waist, gently embracing you. "like this?" he asked. "i um yeah like that!!" you blurted, overwhelmed from all the interactions with fáfnir. "hold on tight," you grabbed the reins. "it's time we fly!"
you both soared into the sky, feeling the air surround you in coldness. you laughed from the feeling and fáfnir held onto you a little more tighter, not sure of this new experience and what new feelings it brought forth.
"you can trust me." you looked back at him, a reassuring smile. "these feelings...are unknown." he remarked. "thats ok if they are." you told your pegasus to go a little slow. "it's all part of trying new things."
fáfnir knew how different you were in the sky compared to the ground. on the ground, you were shy. but in the sky, you were just as free as it was. he admired that about you. as much as flying in the sky was unknown and strange to fáfnir, the love and admiration he felt for you was familiar and welcomed.

you’re welcome (fáfnir x reader)
note: this fic is kinda based off a personal experience of me shutting down from my intrusive thoughts, as i suffer from ocd and the anxiety that comes with ocd very frequently. that said, if you are experiencing intrusive thoughts and need someone to talk to, my dms are always open. you aren’t alone in this <3
song that inspired this writing: the prelude - nobou uematsu
you walked up to fáfnir, a troubled look on your face. fáfnir could tell something was troubling you, but he’d rather let you speak up about it as you had a hard time speaking about your issues.
“fáfnir, i....i need a hug.”
he put down his book, opening his arms to signal his acceptance to your request.
without a second to waste, you ran into fáfnir’s arms, enveloping him a tight embrace.
fáfnir held you just as tight, only a tad bit softer as he wanted to give you some space just in case you wanted to break out of it.
burrowing your head into his shoulder, you let go of the tears you’ve been holding on to since the beginning of the day. the slow rise and fall of his chests distracting you from your intrusive thoughts for a fleeting moment.
“it’s alright,” fáfnir murmured as he gently stroked your hair. “you can do it.”
after a year of being with you, fáfnir knew what to say to help you break out of that intrusive thought loop. he hated seeing you in pain like this; he hated knowing it was your brain that produced this and thoughts and it wasn’t something you both could fight together physically.
if he could, fáfnir would gladly spear your intrusive thoughts with hreiðmarr.
but now, you were his main attention.
and he was going to help you by any means necessary.
“do you want to head to your room or my room?” he asked. “y-your room.” you sniffled. “you have to let go just for a bit. but you can hold my hand if you need to.”
you broke out of the hug, wiping your tears away with your arm as you reach for his hand with your other.
“are you ready?” fáfnir asked. he gave your hand a gentle squeeze, you returning it.
you nodded. “alright.” he opened the door, letting you go out first as he closed the door to the library.
“let’s go.” he led you down the long hallways of the askran castle, hoping no one would question your sobbing.
luckily you both made it to his room with no trouble, him unlocking the door and letting you in first. he closed the door and walked over to you, holding your hands in his. you both stood there, feeling content with the silence.
“would you like to lay down?” fáfnir asked.
you nodded, heading over to his bed. his bed was decently sized and neat as well. the only thing out of place was a small rabbit plush you got him a few dates back.
you flopped on the bed, letting out a large sigh of content. knowing no one would bother you and fáfnir together, you felt like
you could relax completely.
fáfnir sat on the opposite side of you, you feeling the bed dip just a bit due to his weight.
he patted his lap. “come lay down on my lap. if you want, that is.”
you moved to rest your head on his lap, taking this rare chance.
fáfnir stroked your hair softly and hummed a small tune he heard reginn hum when she was little.
you nestled on his lap, a small smile on your face.
it was silent once more, before fáfnir broke the silence. “i’m very proud of you,” he smiled gently at you as he continued to stroke your hair. “you’ve been dealing with this for so long and despite it all, you haven’t given up.”
“i’m trying fáfnir,” you finally spoke up. “it feels like a war. and i feel like i’m losing it sometimes. and right now is that sometime.”
“i know you’re trying. and i know you can get through this. i’ll always be here for you, helping you throughout it.”
“yeah,” you could feel tears rising up. “yeah.”
“thank you for everything, fáfnir.”
he smiled softly, his eyes full of care and adoration towards you.
“you’re welcome.”

loving is easy (fáfnir x reader)
note: reader does fáfnir’s eyebrows, even if he has none. modern au! also please keep in mind this is MY interpretation of fáfnir...this isn’t canon to his personality!
ok so my wifi got turned off and i wrote this without taking breaks..really says a lot abt me!! i love fáfnir sm even if he only appeared once in book v and only has three voice lines </33
song that inspired this writing: loving is easy - rex orange county (feat. benny sings)
“you know,” you sighed. “we haven’t done anything fun at all tonight.” fáfnir held your hand gently as he read a book on various rocks. “that’s alright,” he flipped to a page about malachite. “just being in our presences together is alright with me.”
you blushed. damn fáfnir, you thought. always saying things that make me blush. you sat there with your lover until an idea popped into your head. a fairly innocent idea, but...quite evil.
“hey fáfnir,” you twirled a piece of your hair. “yes?” he didn’t look up from his book. “would you mind if i...drew eyebrows on you?” fáfnir accidentally dropped the book in his lap, face red and shocked from the absurdity of the question you asked. “absolutely not.” he picked up the book and cleared his throat. “aw, come on! it’s harmless.” you batted your lashes at him, hoping they would help win his favor. “still no.” he flipped the page of his book.
“pretty please?” you gave him puppy eyes, batted your eyelashes twice as much AND even threw in a pout. not even fáfnir could say no to this. fáfnir looked at your pleading face for a brief moment before he resigned. “alright...” he sighed. “hooray!” you threw your arms up in joy. “no funny business though.” he said with a sternness in his voice, but you knew he was merely joking. “you got it!”
you took out your eyebrow pencil, its color black. “ok, just lay down.” you guided fáfnir to lay down on the couch he was just sitting on, setting the book on the stand next to it. “this isn’t going to hurt, right..?” fáfnir looked a tad bit scared. you put a hand to your mouth, stifling the giggles. “it won’t hurt, i promise.” you gently rested your hand on fáfnir’s hand. “should i start now?” fáfnir nodded, allowing you. “ok...this could take some time, so be still...”
“...and it’s done!” you shook fáfnir’s shoulder gently, as he fell asleep during the process. fáfnir jolted a bit. “already? how quick.” he sat up. “uh huh. you would like to see yourself with eyebrows?” fáfnir nodded, you handed the mirror to him. fáfnir stood still in his spot for a brief moment. “is everything alright, fáfnir? do you not like it?” you said, worries bubbling up in you. “oh no, it’s alright. i’m just admiring the work.” he said, smiling. you blushed. “oh no,” you waved your hand in a dismissive manner towards fáfnir. “it was all you.”
fáfnir patted to spot next to him, suggesting you sit next to him. you plopped next to him, resting your head on his shoulder. sighing contently, you reach to hold fáfnir’s hand, him complying. “this was a good date night, was it not?” fáfnir kissed the top of your head, resting his head on yours.
“yes, it was.”

there is a light that never goes out (fáfnir x reader)
song that inspired this writing: there is a light that never goes out - the smiths
note: while this is a fic based off a the smiths song, i do not support morrissey. but that said, this fic deals with angst, panic attacks, and avoidance of home due to bad situations with parents (idk how to describe it but i hope you understand)! viewer discretion is advised.
cw/tw: angst, panic attacks, avoidance of home due to bad situations with parents
“so, did you do anything this weekend?” fáfnir asked as he kept his eyes on the road, both hands on the steering wheel.
“ah no, nothing exciting.” you place your hands on your lap, glancing outside through the window of the car.
“anything happened for you this weekend?”
“well,” he sighed.
“i had to take reginn and ótr to horse riding practice, but reginn sprained her ankle during one of her practices.”
his face had an slight look of irritation, due to the red car suddenly moving in front of him.
“not to worry though. i made sure reginn was ok and told ótr to care for reginn while i was out.”
you frowned.
“i hope reginn gets better soon, a sprained ankle is no fun.”
there was a long pause between the both of you before fáfnir chose to break the silence.
“so, what would you like to do? i’ll do whatever you want.”
you smiled.
“hm, anything’s ok. as long it’s with you.”
fáfnir let out a soft chuckle.
“alright.”
for most of the date, you spent it with fáfnir as he took you all across the city of niðavellir. you looked out your window in awe. coming from askr, niðavellir was very different from askr. big buildings, very foggy. nevertheless, you took in the wonderful new sights of niðavellir. “you never told me niðavellir was so cool!” you let out a airy laugh.
fáfnir smiled. “you never asked!”
as day faded into the sunset, you felt content with today. while everything wasn’t perfect. it was a nice change of pace. you felt as if nothing could ruin your mood.
but as night reached, the fears started to bubble up in you.
as fáfnir was on his way to driving you home, you started to feel the fear and anxiety manifest in your stomach. you could feel the fear crawling up your back.
you needed fáfnir to stop the car.
“f-fáfnir?”
“yes?”
“i-i need you to s-stop.”
“driving?”
“yes.”
he parked his car on the side of the road, turning off his car.
noticing your anxious state, he gently brought you closer to his chest, embracing you.
inhaling his scent of evergreen, you found a bit of newfound strength in you.
“you don’t have to tell me now. take some time for yourself and tell me when you’re ok.” he said in the most softest voice, a voice only reserved for soft, loving moments or moments like this.
you nodded against his chest, your breathing calming down as the soft rise and fall of his chest lulled you to a state of tranquility.
“i think...i’m ready.” fáfnir grabbed both your hand gently, enveloping them in his.
“i’ll be listening.”
“i...i don’t want to go home. to be honest, home has been...awful for me these past few days. i feel so miserable there. but when i’m with you i,” you paused to take a deep breath and recollect your frantic thoughts. “i feel safe. i feel happy. please....please don’t take me home.
fáfnir gently embraced you, running his fingers through your hair.
“i’m really sorry that’s what you’ve been experiencing, i really am.”
fáfnir kissed the top of your forehead. “but...if you want, you can come spend the night at my place.”
you broke out the hug, giving fáfnir a big warm smile despite all the tears streaming down and leftover adrenaline coursing through your body.
“i would like that.”
