I don't know who needs to hear this but: if you're always the one reaching out first, if a friendship seems to die every time you don't make 99% of the effort, if you're the only one giving? that's not a true friendship, and you deserve more. sure, no friendship will always be 50/50 but if you're always the one fighting to keep it alive, that's not a friendship.

it's so easy to fall into habits when online a lot but people have needs. no, this isn't vagueposting, I've just seen how tired so many wonderful people are getting from always being the ones lifting others up and people deserve to be valued.

the dash can be a sad && lonely place, but that's no reflection of your worth !

My husband had been telling me to read Terry Pratchett since way before he was my husband. He told me there was a book called Good Omens that he thought I’d like so I waited, like, 10 years and then I read it and he was right. Then I read The Colour of Magic and was like hmm, okay, interesting, but I wasn’t blown away and I BARELY remember reading it so I went on with my life and read a ton of Neil Gaiman and Margaret Atwood and a lot of other things, but no more Pratchett, no more Discworld.

Maybe I just wasn’t in need of it yet but when I was going through a hard time I decided to try again and I think I read Reaper Man and fell in love with DEATH, and then because I mostly read whatever is available at the time on Libby I grabbed one of the Witches books and decided that I wanted to BE Granny Weatherwax when I grew up (ha) but in fact was 80% Nanny Ogg and 20% Magrat (no complaints, and I’m Granny when the situation calls for it) and so I read every single Witches book. I’ve been hooked ever since.

I didn’t think I’d love any of the characters more than the witches and thought hey, people love the City Watch books but different strokes for different folks, I’m sure they’re still lovely, I just won’t love them as much and I was SO wrong because Pseudopolis Yard and Ankh Morpork feel like home and I’d kill for Vimes and Carrot and Angua and Vetinari and Colon and Nobbs and all the rest. I love them. I’m reading that series in order and just finished Jingo (my favorite so far) and I’m waiting for The Fifth Elephant to be available. I cannot wait.

Anyway, long, rambling post to say how much I love Discworld and all the people on it and my family is probably getting REALLY sick of hearing about it but phooey on them. And now I’m off to spend some time with Tiffany Aching and the Nac Mac Feegle. I love them too.

This is a quick heads up that I’m remaking this blog. It’s nowhere near ready yet but I’ll be archiving this one and moving everything over once I’ve finished it. I’ve had this blog for so long with so many changes along the way that a fresh start would be nice!

Nac Mac Feegle

The Nac Mac Feegle have stolen more genders than they can count, although, admittedly, they can't count very high

Actual identities for Feegles are different. In the same way you've got the queen bee/drones/workers, you might get the kelda/Big Man/regular Feegle. Equally, sexuality for Feegles is different to bigjobs, given how the majority of a clan is related. Plus, even though she's a kelda in a m/f relationship, Jeannie isn't straight in the human sense and neither is Rob Anybody. It's also not rare for a gonnagle from another clan to fall in love with and end up in a relationship with another Feegle in his new clan,

me vs. my absolute excitement whenever I spot another geneticist muse? bc maeve is really well known in her field ( just as doctor m. donovan though, she likes to remain pretty genderless in her work ). but also bc the potential of it??? what if they knew her pre her stalking, maybe even before her shitty engagement or during one of the many on-off-on-off times, when she was just this quiet but sweet little genius in labs who always saw patterns before anyone else? what if she knew them before their big traumas?

especially in her marvel / dc verses where she straight up died. like... here she is again, this person you knew, whose death was in the news and was so tragic. then again, hell, a lot of people have no idea she's even woken from her coma in her main verse, maeve never really notifies anyone.
