It’s Sherlock’s anniversary! Let’s celebrate by watching the first series EXACTLY 13 years after each of the episodes was originally broadcast.
How to take part:
Grab your copies of A Study in Pink, The Blind Banker, and The Great Game.
Meet in The Giant Chat of Sumatra Discord's #giantchat text channel to watch and hang out.
Arrive early! To make sure we’re watching these episodes exactly 13 years after the original airing, we’ll each be hitting play on our copies right at the start time. If you’re late, you’ll have to fast-forward to catch up.
Please note that The Blind Banker’s anniversary watchalong starts half an hour earlier than the other two. Don’t blame me—that’s how the BBC originally scheduled them.
Watchalong Schedule:
A Study in Pink
Tuesday, July 25 at 9:00 pm UK time / 4:00 pm US Eastern time (convert to your date & time)
The Blind Banker
Tuesday, August 1 at 8:30 pm UK time / 3:30 pm US Eastern time (convert to your date & time)
The Great Game
Tuesday, August 8 at 9:00 pm UK time / 4:00 pm US Eastern time (convert to your date & time)
See you in the The Giant Chat of Sumatra!

Time for more theory ....
Thank you for joining me this morning. I’m your host, Katy Holmes-Baggins. For the next hour, we'll play the “Sherrinford and Euros are two separate people” game. (and thank you to my key-pal, the most awesome Sherlockian Sherlollian on the planet, for making me aware of the inconsistencies here).
Facts first (always first):
-Mycroft calls Sherrinford after seeing a 13th note beneath a Reigate Square menu on the fridge. He then proceeds to call Sherrinford (“put me through to Sherrinford, please. Yes, I’ll wait”).
-Mycroft gets “regular updates” about Sherrinford and they are “secure.”
-Mycroft is supposed to call Sherrinford at 2pm on some particular day in TLD.
-Euros is our mystery sibling’s name.
Conclusions:
-I don’t really have a lot of conclusions based on Fact 1. But it seems like when Mycroft says “Put me through to Sherrinford”  that Sherrinford is someone who has another person answer their calls. Possibly Sherrinford is at an office? I think it’s unlikely that Sherrinford is in jail, because who says “put me through to xyz” when they’re in jail? No, it’s more like prisoners have particular times of the day when they receive calls. Calls are probably rewards for good behavior. I don’t know this for a fact, of course, since I’ve never been in jail, but it seems like a sound conclusion. So....Sherrinford is NOT in jail. (Any speculation about what the 13th means would be in a different post), Sherrinford and Euros can be the same person at this point, because Euros is obviously not in jail if she’s running around London in three separate disguises.
-So whoever Sherrinford is, they are important enough to English security that Mycroft gets regular updates on them. We could say that a) they are a threat because they are BAAADD b) they are a threat because they are a walking time-bomb (I’d argue that Sherlock himself is like this - he’s on a tightrope. if he falls, he self-destructs and can bring others with him) c) their well-being is important to England or d) they are important to Mycroft himself. But Mycroft believes that Sherrinford, whoever they are, is “secure.”
So here’s where the “Sherrinford is Euros” theory would break down. Because if Euros is Sherrinford, obviously they are NOT secure because they’re walking around London with Sherlock. If they’re bad, then they could potentially hurt people if they’re unleashed. If they are supposed to be in some kind of hiding for their own protection, then they’re in London where anyone can spot them (yes, I know that she’s disguised but still. Something is not lining up here).. Plus, if Mycroft thinks Sherrinford is secure but they’re not, because they’re walking around London in plain sight, then it makes Mycroft look really, really stupid. And Mycroft is supposed to be even smarter than Sherlock. So if the writers make Mycroft miss this one, then they’re undoing a lot of the “I AM the smart one” they’ve put in the script for Mycroft. So, Euros cannot be Sherrinford.
-Mycroft calls Sherrinford and meets with them, but they’ve never been mentioned before this season, or even before Mary dies. So it could be that the writers have just simply left it out, or it could be that something has changed in the time frame of Season 4 that makes communicating with Sherrinford on a regular basis a necessity.
-Why would Mycroft call his sister Sherrinford if he knows her name is Euros? He calls Euros by her own name in the trailer and it seems like it’s her given name. So what is up with that? Mycroft doesn’t usually resort to immature pettiness, so I doubt that he’d call his sister by something other than her name just to get a reaction.
So if Sherrinford is not Euros, then who are they?
Possibilities:
1. Mycroft and Sherlock have ANOTHER sibling and their name is Sherrinford.
2. Sherrinford is a code name for somebody else. I’ve seen speculation on finalproblem.tumblr.com that Sherrinford is Mary’s code name after she faked her death.
3. Moriarty has a brother and their name is Sherrinford.
4. Mycroft and Sherlock have a relative and their name is Sherrinford.
Thank you for joining me this morning.

Also, finalproblem's theories and explanations have been far superior to what I've seen tonight. Sure tonight was canon, but years of Birdy Edwards, Lord Moran, and elephants have been a source of entertainment and superb mental gymnastics for me. This was a great game. http://finalproblem.tumblr.com/
