So after some trial and error i’ve gotten a rough map worked out for the Fiend of the Firecrags campaign module I’m writing. I haven’t labeled it yet and it’s still subject to change, but I thought I’d share the progress I’m making on it. I’ll also give you a little breakdown of what the campaign will entail just to whet your appetite for future updates.
The fire giant prince Gogrum Gorrumsson has only recently clenched the fist he has held over this region for a decade. With his attention diverted by dwarven resistance in the north, Gogrum has left his three lieutenants and their underlings in charge of the area as he travels northward, with strict orders to maintain their obedience by any means necessary. These three lieutenants, all powerful and sadistic in their own right, have now been granted license to unleash their terrors on the unsuspecting lands south of the Fire Crag mountains.
Hrugor the Shamed is a wild, uncontrollably savage fire giant whom Gogrum once fought along side. His fiery temper inevitably saw him kill in cold blood, and as such he has been cast into the southlands as a subordinate of Gorrumsson. His cast of subordinate n’er-do-wells includes a human barbarian whose anger rivals his own and the pillaging murderers who follow him, Grosh Grey-Skin, an orc from the earthen abyss with an affinity for hellhounds, and Shivarr Yoss, a half-elf, half-serpent who has taken a liking to hrugor along with her troupe of elegant sword-dancers.
Vox of Many Faces is is a doppleganger, though he has at this point forgotten what that form even looked like. Vox oversees the vast majority of criminal enterprise in the pyrelight region and when Gogrum came knocking he saw his chance to solidify his power. His business includes organized thievery carried out by the hunchbacked dwarf Caius Stoutmantle and his band of rogues, the sale and distribution of alchemical concoctions by Briar Thorn, one of the few usagisune in the area, and her network of buyers and sellers, to assassinations carried out by Queek the Meek and his family of rodir murders, and everything in between.
The final link in this chain of woe is Belphagor Anvilgrinder, a dark and brooding duergar who has contacted and made a pact with a powerful outsider known to Gogrum’s clan. His guidance has been key to the continuation of the fire giant’s war engine project and his wisdom has endeared him greatly to the war-prince. Gogrum’s record keeper, a strangely out of place dwarf named Maron Quill-Dipper, has stayed in the south to keep tabs on the upkeep of his rule, along with Abos Solongi, a crazed human worshiper of the Flame and leader of the ancient fire cult that has existed in the pyrelight jungle for thousands of years, and a blind halfling seer named Grimeling whom Balphagor trusts implicitly, much to the chagrin of Gogrum. Grimeling has a strange control over those he hypnotizes, and uses his controlling connection with them to keep a wary eye out for dissidents.
These are the hurdles that will have to be overcome to bring the fight to Gogrum’s front door and eventually to the fiery throne room of the war-prince himself. I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun writing this because I’ve already gotten so much good story material between all these different characters and I’ve barely even touched the surface of whats there to find.
As always, questions and comments are welcome. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

About the Fiend of Firecrag module, do you intend for it to be similar to Shadows of Mordor where you take out the lieutenant's to get closer to the captain?? Or will be up to the party? (And I know it's always up to the party but I'm just summarizing my thoughts). Either way I'm super excited for it and would love to playtest if that chance arises!!
Yes, the general idea is that the party will be moving from location to location freeing the settlements in the area from the control of the fire giant’s lieutenants and their enforces. You’ll start out dealing with the enforces’ minions, and work your way up through the villains organizational power structure taking out stronger, more important baddies, eventually ending with a confrontation with the fire giant prince. I want the players to really feel like they’re accomplishing something, bringing down these evil organizations and groups as they free towns from the yoke of oppression. In the end yes, it will all be up to the players on how they decide to deal with any given lieutenant. Unfortunately there’s no campaign without an attempt to overthrow the occupying forces and it’s probably a poor decision to attempt to storm Gogrum’s fortress while his eyes, ears, and army remain intact to oppose the players, not to mention Gogrum isn’t even in the area at the time the campaign will be starting.
When I have a playable version I’ll be sure to put it up here first for testing as I’m sure it’ll need it pretty desperately in its early draft stages, so you’ll definitely have a chance to play with it as soon as it’s ready. Thanks for checking out the blog and writing!
