warnings: a kiss or two
----
"hey kat, you seen harps?"
i knocked on katrina's hotel room door, but there was no response so i walked in. i was going to take harper down with me so katrina could get ready, but immediately stopped in my tracks when a saw the scene before me. harper was on the bed, katrina curled around her, both sound asleep.
my heart melted seeing my two favourite people together like that. as much as i wanted to let kat sleep longer, i knew i had to wake her up. coach wanted us down in a half hour for a team meeting about the game.
"kat, you gotta wake up now." i sat on the edge of the bed and placed a hand on her arm, shaking her a bit. she came to after a few moments of me shaking her lightly. kat's groggy face turned to look at who was tearing her from her sleep. "hey sleeping beauty." i grinned down at her. "mm, i jus' need five more minutes."
"we have that meeting soon, you gotta get up, min." everyone in the team called her mini, or min, because of her short stature, but i was an exception. i called her kat, only on occasion did i switch it for mini.
"fuuuuckk." she drawled out. eventually she sat up slowly and got up. the small child next to her had shuffled around and woke up at the slight commotion near her. "hey harps." i ruffled her her a bit and she giggled at me. i picked her up and smoothed down her clothes before katrina walked out of the bathroom, her hair fixed and looking slightly less tired.
"let's head down, yea?"
i only received a light mumble in response, kat's way of agreeing. we knew each other in and out by now, we'd been best friends for years. probably from the first time we met years ago at her then club, brisbane roar, and soon after mine.
i had signed a deal with the club, contracted for 5 years. katrina had already been there for a year or two when i joined, but her contract ran out two years before mine did. she moved from there that year, signing with some other club over in england, leaving me behind.
unbeknownst to me, she did a stint with the club in england but then moved to a sweden club which i would later sign with. it was a big offer from them and a big sign for me, having to move from australia to sweden and play for vittsjö gik. but i quickly decided it was the best decision i'd made in my life when i saw katrina on the training field at my first session. we were inseparable and attached at the hip again, we went everywhere together.
i had, very, quickly caught some sort of feelings towards the older woman when we first met and didn't know how to feel about that fact, choosing to ignore the butterflies that made chaos of my abdomen when i saw her.
i never knew if she had felt the same, and didn't want to ruin what bond we had together so i never said a word. now here we are, at national camp together, about 10 years later. it was a messy situation, especially on my end, but i made the most of it, loving every moment i got to spend with katrina, and her little harper.
"thank you for looking after harps, y/n." she brought me out of my little daydream with her gratitude. "it's all good, kat. i love the kid as much as anyone." harper wriggled around in my arms at my words.
we had made it to the meeting room then, and joined the rest of the team to take a seat.
——
it felt like a whole year had gone by after we left that room. my butt had gone numb from how long i was in that seat for. harper was in my arms again as me and kat walked out and towards the cafeteria. i honestly thought i could eat a horse, my last meal was at breakfast, almost 5 hours ago. i grabbed what i could fit onto my plate and raced over to a table and placed everything on the surface. katrina handed harper off to me while she went to get her's and harps lunch.
we sat in comfortable silence eating our food, me more so devouring. i finished everything on my plate and was finally full. both kat and harper were still eating, and both were laughing at me and my content sighs after eating for two people. "shut up, i was starving." i send a joking look to kat and she laughs some more at me.
"mama. water, please." harper's voice catches us both off guard, and we both just stare at her as she looks at me and makes grabby hands for my water bottle.
"did she..?" i trail off in a silent question to katrina. "yea.. she did." i went white as a sheet, body frozen. i finally found it in me and passed harper my water bottle. the kid latches onto it and drinks some. i was still shocked and hadn't uttered any words other than confirming what we'd both seen with kat.
my brain seemed to malfunction as my mind told me i needed to leave. i grabbed my plate, making some sort of excuse to get out of the room.
i bolted, heading for my own room this time. i flopped down on my bed, mind racing a million miles and hour. harper called me mama! i was elated but also worried at the same time. what if kat didn't want her kid to think of me as her second mum? my nerves and anxiety were called to the forefront and i kept asking myself questions without answers.
it felt like two seconds but there was a knock on my door, and suddenly it opened. i shot upright, and seeing it was kat, flopped back down.
i couldn't even look her in the face as she walked over. "y/n. are you okay?" "umm, yes?" it came out more as a question rather than a statement. "you're not. you were white as a ghost before." a split second of reckless thought sent me over the edge and i blurted. "harper called me mama." i didn't know what i was doing, i just needed to air that statement.
"yea, about that. i'm sorry, i didn't know she saw it like that." "you're.. sorry?" i was confused. did she not want me to be a mum to harper? "yea, i didn't think you wanted things to be like that."
surely she's joking. "kat.." i sat up and took a deep breath.
"katrina, i would love to be a mum to harper. i never told you any of this, and it's been at least 4 years of me bottling up my feelings. i have liked you so much, for the longest time. i have wanted nothing more to hug you as more than friends for the longest time. but i never said anything because i didn't want to ruin our friendship. you're like my best friend. but i want us to be more."
shit. i just ruined it didn't i? i looked up at katrina tentatively, scared to see her expression.
surprisingly, it wasn't one of hate. she almost looked.. relieved? "oh thank god." that was a new one. she sat down next to me so we were eye level again.
"i am so glad you said something, i would have gone another few years without saying anything. i like you so much more than friends, y/n. i can't even begin to explain how thankful i am to have you in my life, to help me with harper, or to just be with me when i need a shoulder to cry on."
what she says catches me off guard, i fully expected her to shun me and tell me she wasn't interested.
"wait.. really?" she nods with a smile. "yes really. you mean so much to me-" i cut her off by pressing my lips to hers. she freezes up but just as quickly, kisses me back. her lips are soft, sweet, they taste like caramel. i had my hands on either side of her face. she moves hers down to wrap around my waist. everything around us stops moving as we continue in our own little world. finally we break apart to take a breath.
"katrina-lee gorry, do you wanna be my girlfriend?"
"always, y/n y/l/n."

Here, we unveil the secrets of top PTE coaching programs and empower you to choose the one that propels you to success, regardless of your location – including Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Adelaide, and even Hyderabad!
Demystifying the Options:
Classroom vs. Online: Classroom: Crave the energy of a live environment? Classroom coaching provides in-person guidance, peer interaction, and immediate feedback. Consider options like best pte coaching in Sydney or pte coaching in Melbourne. Online: Value flexibility and personalized learning? Online coaching caters to your schedule, allows self-paced learning, and offers recorded sessions for revisiting concepts. Explore possibilities like online pte coaching in Melbourne or pte online course in Brisbane.
Unveiling the Ideal Coaching Partner:
Beyond Qualifications: Seek trainers with proven PTE expertise: certifications, years of experience, and a track record of high-scoring students. Look for enthusiastic and approachable instructors who ignite your learning passion. This applies to all locations, whether you're searching for pte coaching centre in Brisbane or best pte coaching in hyderabad.
Material Matters: High-quality resources are your PTE survival kit. Ensure access to comprehensive study materials, like practice questions aligned with the latest test format, targeted vocabulary lists based on PTE scoring criteria, and a bank of authentic PTE sample responses for analysis. Look for this when considering pte classes in melbourne or pte preparation in perth.
The Power of Mock Tests: Regular mock tests with in-depth feedback reports are game-changers. Look for coaching programs offering a variety of mock tests, simulating the actual PTE format. Detailed feedback helps you identify and conquer your weaknesses. This is crucial whether you're aiming for pte online training in Hyderabad or pte coaching in Canberra.
Turning the Tide: Strategies for Success:
Tailored Attention: Don't be a number! Seek out coaching that offers personalized learning plans, addressing your specific needs. This might involve one-on-one sessions to tackle challenging areas or study skills workshops to refine your test-taking approach. Explore this option when considering pte courses in Melbourne or online pte coaching in Adelaide.
Support Beyond Lectures: The best coaching goes the extra mile. Look for programs offering dedicated support systems, like doubt-clearing sessions, email access to trainers, or online forums to connect with peers and share experiences. This can be valuable for those seeking pte preparation in perth or pte coaching in Darwin.
Flexibility is Key: Life can be hectic. Choose a coaching program with flexible scheduling options. This could include online sessions recorded for later viewing, weekend batches for working professionals, or the ability to pause and resume your course as needed. Explore such options for best pte coaching in Sydney or even pte online coaching in Hyderabad.
The Cutting Edge: Technology and Community
Embrace the Tech: Modern coaching programs leverage innovation. Look for institutes utilizing adaptive learning platforms that personalize your study journey, interactive practice tests that make learning engaging, and mobile apps for on-the-go practice. Consider this when looking for pte online course in Brisbane or online pte coaching in Adelaide.
Building Your PTE Tribe: A supportive environment fosters success. Seek coaching programs that cultivate a strong online community. Participate in forums, group discussions, or peer-to-peer mentoring sessions to share strategies and overcome challenges together. This can be valuable for those seeking pte coaching in Canberra or best pte coaching in hyderabad.
Remember: PTE success isn't a one-size-fits-all equation. By following these steps and actively engaging with your chosen coaching program, you'll be well on your way to achieving your PTE goals and stepping confidently towards your aspirations.

The Benefits of Disability Services NDIS
While block funding and services assuming a one-size-fits-all approach were common under the old welfare model, the NDIS aims to empower people with disability to purchase their own services through personalised funding budgets. This aligns with the first principle of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with a Disability, to which Australia is a signatory.
Home Modifications
Home modifications are structural changes to a person’s home that can help improve their safety, mobility, and quality of life. These services can include everything from widening doorways to installing ramps. This can be a big benefit for people with disabilities, as it allows them to live more independently and reduces the need for outside support or care.
The best place to start is by working with an Occupational Therapist who specialises in home modification. They will be able to assess your individual needs and recommend the right home modification solutions for you. They can also assist you in finding suitable builders for the project.
Another option is to choose a provider that is familiar with the NDIS and can fit and monitor home modifications for you. This will ensure that your ndis service provider Brisbane funds are used effectively and that you have peace of mind. It’s important to be aware of what is and isn’t included in the cost of home modifications so you know what to expect.
Personal Care
Personal care encompasses anything that assists you with your daily personal hygiene, grooming and hygienic needs including bathing, oral care, dressing and toileting. It may also include continence management such as bladder or bowel management and menstrual care; or medication management – including reminders, administration and monitoring for any side effects.
Enhancing your social connections with informal support also forms a vital component of ndis disability support worker services, allowing you to form and maintain close relationships that enrich your life. This specialised service ensures your social circle is always in a position to provide the support you require.
Whether it’s to hit the gym, take a leisurely jog or engage in home fitness routines, dedicated disability assistance professionals are ready to serve as your personal trainers. Their expertise is essential to establishing realistic and achievable fitness goals, keeping you motivated and inspired throughout the journey. This is a key aspect of disability services, helping to boost your quality of life by enhancing your independence and self-reliance.
Employment Supports
Having a job brings many benefits to the lives of people with disability. Besides providing a source of income, it gives them a sense of purpose and provides opportunities to make friends. There are a variety of disability services that can help people find and maintain employment. These include job search assistance, career development, and training.
Specialist disability support services are those that are tailored to the needs of an individual with disability. These are offered in an open employment setting or with a disability enterprise (ADE). They can be used to fund additional coaching to operate in the workplace, extra support to manage complex needs, and to provide other workplace modifications.
Some disability services may also offer advocacy services. These are designed to help individuals navigate systems and access their rights. They may also provide assistance with legal issues or educational accommodations. The NDIS BuyAbility website lists disability services that are available for purchase.
Community Engagement
Having social interaction and a sense of belonging are vital to an individual’s mental health. Disability services ndis can help people with disabilities build meaningful connections and feel part of their community by offering social activities, events, and networking opportunities.
These activities can be a great way to combat feelings of loneliness and isolation, while providing the opportunity to grow new skills and interests. Those who receive disability services can also access support for employment, which can boost selfesteem and provide financial independence.
The NDIS offers a range of assistance with social and community participation, which falls under the core and capacity building categories of the plan. These services can include group activities, mentoring, or support for job-seeking or entrepreneurship. They also focus on building skills, including communication and interpersonal skills, which can help individuals achieve their goals. NDIS also works with local partners in the community to help people connect with their communities and mainstream supports.

Season previews: Port Adelaide (9th)
Last season: 3rd (17 wins, 6 losses, 112.7%), 6th after finals Notable ins: Esava Ratugolea (Geelong), Brandon Zerk-Thatcher (Essendon), Ivan Soldo (Richmond) Notable outs: Xavier Duursma (Essendon), Tom Jonas (retired), Scott Lycett (retired)
The real deal or pretenders? It is a query that has increasingly loomed large over Ken Hinkley's tenure as Port Adelaide coach. A Rorscach test, its appearance maybe telling you something about your football psychology. On the one hand, the Power have mostly been a good to very good side under Hinkley and never been a terrible one. Since 2013 their lowest finish on the ladder has been 11th place, they boast a win rate of 60.6%, have made the finals six times and a preliminary final three times. A few clubs would probably kill right now for even one season as good as Hinkley's worst effort. On the other hand, Port are in the business of winning premierships and they have lost all of those preliminary finals. No coach in VFL/AFL history has gone so long without a Grand Final appearance.
Tumblr media
Hinkley looked at long odds to keep his job entering last season. Supporters' appreciation for his lifting them out of the doldrums a decade ago had expired and they were beyond restless after missing the eight in 2022. The president, David Koch, waffled on his chances of getting a new deal. An agreement was reached between club and coach where his contract status, due to expire at the end of the year, would not be reviewed until August. This would force a decision before finals so was a curious compromise given the major frustration with Hinkley was a lack of results in September. Did the board, expecting another lowly finish but wanting to avoid a bitter falling out, set a date that would allow them to respectfully end Hinkley's tenure only after being seen to give him a fighting chance? If they did, they didn't count on him to flip the script. Hinkley's men rattled off 13 straight wins from rounds 4-17 and when D-Day arrived on August 1st, they were sitting second on the ladder. Checkmate, 'Kochie' - Hinkley was given a two-year contract extension.
Losses to Brisbane and GWS in the finals however meant a straight-sets exit and one that probably matched their reality, a step off the pace amongst the other also-rans. It gave Port Adelaide some solace that it was the next generation in Zak Butters, Connor Rozee and Jason Corne-Francis consistently leading the way. That trio will be their engine room for the next decade but the Power were often too reliant on them and experienced veterans did not help shoulder the load. The likes of Lycett, Ollie Wines, Travis Boak, Trent McKenzie and Charlie Dixon were all looking tired, sore and old by September. Their captain, Tom Jonas, wasn't there at all having been relegated to the SANFL mid-season.
Port Adelaide attacked the trade period to try and address some of these problems. Their midfield needed someone to tap it to them with Lycett retiring and they targeted Soldo, a solid ruckman who struggled for opportunity at Richmond, and Jordon Sweet as back-up. There are questions over whether Ratugolea and Zerk-Thatcher are the right fit for Port Adelaide's backline alongside Aliir but their recruitment at least means 191cm McKenzie won't again be left manning the Tom Hawkins of the world. Ratugolea has size, strength and athleticism but can be a liability to teammates as he crashes packs to try and mark or spoil with limited situational awareness. Zerk-Thatcher conceded 53 goals in 2023, the most of any defender in the AFL, and Essendon were ultimately comfortable losing him. Port Adelaide did not add to their forward line but would be looking for Todd Marshall and Ollie Lord to take the next steps in their respective development.
The hope at Alberton is that they can wring one more good year out of Boak, Dixon and Wines just as their young guns continue to rise and take the mantle. If their form from around mid-July through the end of the season is any indication, the timing for this is not quite right. The immediate pressure is off Hinkley with his extension but Josh Carr waits in the wings, seemingly brought to Port under an informal succession plan. It's all smiles between the two for now but this has gone south quickly elsewhere. When egos collide and the coaches disagree, the players are torn - do you listen to the guy that might be on his way out the door or the one next in line to succeed him? Getting off to a good start will be crucial, their first five games all winnable playing West Coast, Melbourne, Essendon and Fremantle at home and Richmond away. But start the season like they finished the last one and the pressure rises quickly again.

Discover Brisbane's LGBTQIA+ swim club Aqualicious
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/discover-brisbanes-lgbtqia-swim-club-aqualicious/
Discover Brisbane's LGBTQIA+ swim club Aqualicious
Tumblr media
We discover all about Brisbane’s LGBTQIA+ swim club Aqualicious, from what level you need to be, to social events and how you can join.
As the temperatures rise at this time of year, many of us will take relief in swimming pools and beaches across the country.
Swimming is such a big part of the Australian summer and for a group of Brisbane’s LGBTQIA+ community, it’s more than just a quick dip in the pool.
Aqualicious is Brisbane LGBTQIA+ masters swim club. They are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and currently have around 30 members.
Club President Dylan Carmichael, who joined the club 10 years ago said that everyone from the community is welcome to get involved.
“Our club welcomes people of all abilities and we’re more than happy for people to join us for three or four sessions to see how they go, before deciding to join or not.”
“Our members come from all the various parts of our community as well as our straight allies. Aqualicious welcomes all trans and non-binary swimmers.”
What level do you have to be to join?
For those worrying about their level of swimming, Dylan shares that just one lap is more than enough.
“All you need to get your start in the cocktail lane is 50m freestyle without stopping. Bonus points if you can do backstroke, breaststroke or butterfly but, we’ll help you learn those if you don’t know them now,” he says.
“As Head Coach I started 10 years ago swimming 50m and heaving my guts up at each end. Now my favourite race is the 1500m breaststroke! We also have the super fish lane [for more advanced swimmers] and everything in between, just like the rest of our community.”
Lex, the oldest member of Aqualicious, shared with us the reason he joined.
“Primarily, I joined the club to meet other people in the LGBTQIA+ community after moving to Brisbane and to participate in the sport of swimming for fitness. I was not a pub or nightclub sort of person so Aqualicious was a social opportunity to meet other like-minded people,” he said.
For those looking for competition as well as social connection, there are plenty of opportunities.
“Our swimmers regularly compete at meets around the country – you can chase medals and records if you have a competitive drive, but most Masters’ members are looking for personal bests and celebrate those achievements as much. While it’s certainly encouraged, there is absolutely no obligation to compete. That’s completely up to you,” Dylan explains.
How to join Aqualicious
Aqualicious runs several sessions during the week. They take place at the Centenary Pool in Spring Hill and run for an hour on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. Social dinners and coffees after the sessions also take place.
If you are feeling inspired and are interested in joining, Dylan explains what to do.
“All you need to do is turn up to the pool with togs, goggles and a towel; tell the person at reception that you’re here for Aqualicious and they’ll point you to us! We’ll help you with the rest!”
For those feeling nervous, he has some advice.
“Nervous? I promise that you don’t need to be. No one is looking at you, or what you’re wearing, and our coaches have never had to do paperwork for a drowning yet. We’re all there to swim and have a good time, and our people are all really nice!”

Find Trusted Mechanics in Kallangur and Compare Quotes Instantly
Tumblr media
If your car isn’t purring like a kitten it might be time for a service. Find trusted mechanics in Kallangur and compare quotes instantly.
A mobile mechanic can come to you for any service, repair or maintenance your car may need. Whether it’s logbook servicing, a roadworthy certificate or repairs to your brakes and suspension. To know more about Mechanics Kallangur, visit the Murrumba Auto Care website or call (07)32854440.
In the wild world of used car buying, a pre-purchase inspection is like a truth teller. It can help you separate the dream rides from the ones that will become a driveway ornament before too long.
While there is no one-size-fits-all process for PPIs, most include visual exams and a test drive. It is also important for the evaluator to be independent from any ethical entanglements with vehicle sellers so they can find out and disclose all facts in a prospective buyer’s best interests.
Ideally, the evaluator will be able to borrow the vehicle from the seller for the inspection. If the seller refuses, this should be a red flag and you should walk away from the deal. Having a trusted mobile mechanic in Kallangur conduct a PPI will give you peace of mind knowing that you are getting the best value for your money and that the vehicle is safe to drive now and in the future.
A vehicle inspection is a necessary part of buying or selling a car. Often called pink slips, rego checks or safety inspections, they are designed to ensure that vehicles meet minimum roadworthiness standards.
Depending on the state, these inspections can include machine-based headlight tests, suspension, alignment, braking efficiency and underneath inspections. They also check that a horn works and that all tires are in good condition, with adequate tread depth and pressure.
A malfunctioning horn is one of the most common reasons for a car to fail its inspection. In addition, the technician will check that the brake pads and rotors are not excessively worn. The emergency brake will also be tested to ensure that it is working properly. The technician will also examine the exhaust system for leaks.
Logbook servicing is usually done to maintain a manufacturer car warranty. It involves a complete inspection of the vehicle to ensure it’s functioning as intended and to detect any issues that may need to be fixed. It also includes the replacement of certain components.
It’s important to get a log book service on time. If you do so, you’ll likely have better resale value when it comes time to sell your car. Moreover, a regular log book service will help you find out about any problems that could be developing in your car, so you can address them before they become serious.
You don’t have to go to a dealership to receive a logbook service, as most authorised mechanics can carry out the necessary work without voiding your car’s warranty.
When driving to a garage isn’t an option, mobile mechanics can come to you. They offer a full range of services including pre-purchase inspections, logbook servicing, roadworthy certificates and repairs. Many are also linked to official parts suppliers, which means they can get you back on the road more quickly than a traditional workshop.
Kallangur is a suburb located north of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. Originally a farming area, the suburb grew as it became an important route for Cobb & Co coaches travelling between Brisbane and Gympie. It is now a major regional centre with a growing population. The suburb is served by the Bruce Highway and Old Gympie Road. A number of local shops and restaurants can be found in the area.
If your car’s tyres aren’t properly suited to the type of driving you do, it can affect how well your vehicle drives. For example, you may want different tyres for normal street and highway driving than you would for mountain, snow, or off-road driving.
JAX Tyres & Auto North Lakes offers a wide range of tyres to suit all driving conditions. The store also provides tyre rotation, balancing and nitrogen inflation services. The shop’s new premises feature a Hoffmann wheel alignment machine and Corghi leverless tyre fitting machine.
Run-flat tyres allow you to continue driving for a limited distance after a puncture. They do this by having a reinforced sidewall and a support ring that help to keep the air in the tyre. In addition, these tyres have lower rolling resistance than standard tires. They’re also made with premium silica, which improves structural resistance and enables lower energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. To know more about Mechanics Kallangur, visit the Murrumba Auto Care website or call (07)32854440.

[ad_1] BRISBANE : Australia captain Sam Kerr will again start on the bench when the co-hosts take on France in the Women's World Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, indicating she has not yet fully recovered from a calf strain. Coach Tony Gustavsson said on Friday that Kerr would start her first match of the tournament in the clash against the French at Lang Park if told by team medical staff that she was fit to play 90 minutes. The striker, Australia's all-time top goalscorer, played about 20 minutes as a substitute in the last-16 win over Denmark on Monday after missing the first three matches of the campaign with the calf injury. Gustavsson has stuck with the same starting lineup as he named for the 2-0 win over the Danes with the forward line of Caitlin Foord, Mary Fowler and Hayley Raso. [ad_2]
