in the illithid ending, the narrator compares ajax to the emperor. and it got me thinking.
what if ajax learned new tricks and was able to shape shift like the emperor into a humanoid form. (this one im not sure about, but we do see the emperor outside of the astral plane at one point with the disguise on. is this copium or am i onto something)
what im saying is. what if wyll runs into ajax 3 decades later in its humanoid form. what if wyll says he wants to try again, full of hope because now ajax doesn't have to hide. but the shape shifting can only last for a few hours and ajax still needs brains for sustenance and it will always be an illithid underneath.
what if ajax tells wyll to retire (lol, as if) and suggests going to the underdark and live like blurg and omeluum. surely there would still be damsels in distress down there for him to protect, underbeasts for him to slay.
wyll tells himself he doesn't regret leaving ajax back then, but a human's life is way too short and he'd spent most of his life alone for too long already.
3 decades later, they finally get their happy ending. kinda. (copium?)
