Featured Illustrator: Jerwin Dee
Jerwin Dee, A 109 student of SDA's AB-MMA, who's interest revolves around Video games, Cartoons, Fashion, Gaga, Lana del rey and even food is just oozing with creativity. His tumblr url is a wordplay of the famous surrealist painter, Salvador Dali and the word Saboteur. His works of art shows humor and personality with depth in it. For an artist who has great appreciation for femininity, he shows it well with Adobe Illustrator. You can see some of his works at http://saboteurdali.tumblr.com.
When asked what art is to him, he says that it's funny and shouldn't be taken seriously, hence, his works of art. He's one of those lucky people who got to study what he loves the most, if not, he would have ended up in COMSCI and we wouldn't be able to see what wonderful art he has to offer. Not only is he good at his craft but he also can play volleyball. With brains and brawn plus creativity to boot, he would surely be a fine model for the upcoming generation of artists.
For a guy who is unbeatable at tekken, who can win a staring contest with cats and fishes and who makes a mean lasagna, it truly shows that he is your average everyday teen- just so happens art and humor is his specialty.

Featured Artist: Lee Caces
Lee Caces, AB-MMA, 109, a visual artist as his first description on his blog. And we totally agree as he revolves around on photos, graphic design and sketches.
He’s not your typical guy who plays Play station or computer games. He usually goes out with friends and likes to observe a lot. Through this he captures moments though photos and design.
When asked what inspires him well he only quoted Chuck Close- “Inspiration is for amateurs ; the rest of just show and get to work”. He just drinks coffee to pump up his brain and just do what he has to do. Believing that it’s not really necessary to wait on something to happen. Things will occur in the process you just have to go on and start.
His style varies. Using different mediums from mix media to digital and experiments on them as well. Whatever interests him is what he’s artworks are about definitely not the art for art sake kind.
Aside from being a full time student he also does some freelance photography. Lee’s works conform from different concepts are as we would call it ‘pegs’. That’s how he flexible with whatever comes his way.
A self-portrait with the use of mixed media by the artist himself with his signature Wayfarers.
TIPS TO BE A GOOD ARTIST:
- You must really like what you’re doing. Don’t force yourself in making an artwork that is not you.
- If you have to change everything and start all over because you have a better idea, DO IT because no one's stopping you.
- Use your instinct. It is very powerful.
- Try to collaborate with other people. You might be able to produce BETTER works.
As you can see he’s your all aorund artist. The works that he has been sharing in his blog proves how he constanly portray the everyday things in a new light. It’s good that his style isnt specific as to not be labeled as a one act kind. With this, he has verify to us that being a visual artist is about exposing his reality and imagination through his own approach.

Featured Artist: DEY VEGA
It was a bit confusing on having to decide which talent we were to focus on this feature on Dey Vega for this 109 AB-MMA student is quite versatile with fashion, film making, photography and dance. But we asked him which would be his top priority; he said it would be film making and photography in which he is still willing to learn and explore further.
Visit his blog: allabouttheangles.tumblr.com
Short Action Film by Dey Vega: Seven Minutes
“Fashion is part of my artistic expression of who am I, and what I love to do.”, says Dey when we asked him what fashion is to him. “It doesn’t mean that you are feminine when you like fashion.”
Style Tips:
1.Don’t be afraid to mix up your clothes. If you have a jacket, find something that suits it well. If you have a polo, find pants that compliments too.
2.You don’t have to put extra layers of clothing on your to look good.
3.It is up to you on how you present yourself; if you can carry yourself well, I think people will appreciate you even if you only wear something simple.
What is COMEONE GROUND?
It’s name was formerly, “Aftaskoo” which was established back in 2008 and a year later it became “Comeone Ground” which was composed of 12 people who wanted to dance and inspire. Now with almost 70++ members, Comeone Ground is a group that caters to CSB & DLSU students and gives them an outlet to dance, to express and to share their talents in dancing. Dey says they are open for new members and they might have auditions next month, so watch out!
Being part of this talented dance team, Dey admits that we wouldn’t want to see him dance at all back when he was in highschool. He says he wasn’t a dancer, he just had the chance to develop it when he joined C1G during his sophomore year in college. “No one starts out great.”, that’s what his friend told him that inspired him to develop his talent.
You guys might really recognize this photo which currently hit around 800++ shares and over 1000++ likes all over Facebook a few weeks ago. Dey was quite fascinated with the current trend “its more fun in the Philippines” that he decided to make use of his favorite photograph he took of our very own SDA Building. At the beginning of it, he never even bothered to include a watermark copyright on his photograph because he thought only his friends would appreciate it but never in his wildest thinking expected such overwhelming hype to happen.
Believe it or not but Dey entered CSB without even having a single knowledge about anything related to Multimedia Arts; he didn’t know how to draw or use Photoshop and didn’t even know anything about photography. Initially, like most aspiring artists; he just wanted his own DSLR, and that eventually gave him the willingness to learn and become a good photographer. If you have the determination and passion to discover what you can do, then it is not impossible to attain what you can. Dey Vega shows us very well how perseverance leads to development when you have the passion to build up what you love doing.
View this dance choreography by Dey Vega featuring dancers from C1G; Vincent Igno, Yuki Ito, Twinkle Norte, Camille Bagasan, Donnie Dino and Jamico Jasa.
filmed by: AB-FILM Students; Ryan Dolores & Allan Nino
Its quite remarkable how he controls his time given his busy schedule with school, projects and dance practice late at night. Dey says, “Time is important when you have many things to do.”, other passions are things that shouldn’t be a distraction to your education but it should also push you further to do well in other aspects.

Featured Film Maker: GINO SANTOS
Gino M. Santos, a 22 year old AB-FILM of SDA, has shown much interest on films at such an early age. For a 108, he sure shows knowledge and skill that are beyond his years. He is the first ever Benildean Student who's been included in the official selection in the 2011 Cinemalaya Film Festival with his short feature film, "Every Other Time". That itself is a big achievement already yet he is still widely known for many more awards and recognition. He has been included in the Best of Benilde 2010 & 2011.
For his talent and skill, he has already attended workshops at New York Film Academy in Kyoto Japan, the Marilou Diaz-Abaya Film and Arts Center, and the Asia Pacific Film Institute. Gino was chosen to represent the Philippines in the MPA-CICE workshop to be held in Beijing, China this December 2011 together with 12 representatives around South East Asia. He has also worked under '62nd Cannes Best Film Director' Brillante Ma. Mendoza's mentorship program in the international film 'Captive' coming out in 2012.
Take a dose of inspiration from Gino Santos himself by watching our interview with with him. Hearing him talk was pretty much of a strong push to innovate any aspiring artist and film maker. Gino himself advises, "Don't expect everyone to like your work. Maybe it's not for them or it's not for you but definitely its not suppose to pull you down, it's suppose to make you a better person."

Featured Fashion Blogger: RAIZA POQUIZ
Raiza Poquiz is definitely a good mix of beauty, talent and brains.
She's a 109 Interior Design Student currently busy with her Majors at Philippine School of Interior Design yet she's still capable of managing her time working on layouts for our school org, The Benildean Press Corps. School publications such as The Benildean, Karilyon and BLIP are a few of the publications of which Raiza contributes in.
We should not forget her killer sense of style in fashion; she has been seen in several magazines and websites such as CHALK that feature her stunning outfits.
She's also known as MISSPOPQUIZ . Her blog is a versatile mix of posts related to fashion, arts, events and food. On blogging, she advises to stay true to yourself, be friendly and be interesting. Give people a reason to follow your blog and also follow back if you really like their blog. When it comes to layouts, always think about making it easy for the readers; avoid blinking objects and small fonts.
Visit her blog at: http://www.misspopquiz.tumblr.com
She likes to think of fashion as a way for her to present herself to everyone and to show how creative she can be other than her artworks.
Let's not forget her lookbook acount, her looks more or less always receive a number of +-250 likes. On having a lookbook account, Raiza advises:
"Use high-quality photos. (Need not be via DSLR, just a good quality point and shoot will do) Make sure the outfit is really seen. Avoid over-editing them. The more natural they look, the better. Lookbook automatically somewhat sharpens and desaturates photos. So before clicking POST, upload it first on LB and see if you like it, if not, upload it again. " Comment on others' looks. Hype them. Leave friendly messages. This will help direct other users to your page.
Learn about the karma filter and what time to post within the day. "
Visit her lookbook account here: http://lookbook.nu/misspopquiz
MISSPOPQUIZ's Tips on Fashion & Shopping:
1. Invest on your basic. (Jeans, LBD, white polo)
2. Great style doesn't have to come expensive.
3. Your outfit shouldn't be the only one that looks good. YOU should also look great so take care of your skin by moisturizing and use a little bit of make-up if necessary.
4.When shopping, I always suggest to try things on to see how it really looks on you. Walk, sit down, bend, to see if you're comfy. If you're hesitating to buy something, don't buy it. Most often you're probably just being an impulsive buyer.
With all these projects, opportunities and work load, its amazing how Raiza manages to keep herself and her priorities together.
" It's crazy! I don't know how I even manage sometimes. There are so many other things I'd love to do and it's difficult to find time for them considering my org, my plates and my business. I guess time management is always a solution. But be warned, always put your studies first. Blogging can be done at random times of the day. You just have to get used to being busy and prioritizing your work."

I'm not amused by your lack of tact in this conference
You say you're a saint but i'm not buying it, not this time
Tell me should I be honest?
'Cause if you ask me you are a wolf in sheep's clothing
I'm disgusted by your myriad disguises
Too many masks
'Cause too many faces get in the way
Tell me should I be honest?
'Cause if you ask me you are a wolf in sheep's clothing
Should I be honest?
Don't say a word
you're not at fault here
When everything's said and done
you talk behind my back
'Cause you are a wolf in sheep's clothing
(You stumble on your words
cause you lie through your feet)
Tell me should I be honest?
'Cause if you ask me you are a wolf in sheep's clothing

MUST LISTEN: Finding Atlantis by MAD HATTER DAY
It's quite astonishing how this recently formed band can rock it out like pro-rockstars. Give it up for these 110 AB-Music Production Students; Paco Santos, Andrew Son, Pat Poblador, Cash Fuerte, Aki Suda & for vocalist, Mewa Cawad who in fact comes all the way from DLSU.
Only released in less than 24 hours ago, this video is already making noise on Facebook News Feeds; it already received 110 likes as of now and 1592 views on Vimeo. Hands down Mad Hatter Day and for Quinatrow Productions for this hardcore music video!
"It's impossible to find something that doesn't exist in the first place."
Chorus:
Adrift at sea, aimless and directionless
We're fighting the current and braving the turbulence
The waves run riot as we seek Atlantis
They're crashing down on us
I.
The tides are rising with the tension
As we aimlessly float in confusion
This ship is sailing but we can't agree on one direction
So tell me, where do we go from here?
Bridge:
SOS!
You're holding on to me as if you're holding on to your dear life
SOS!
You're fighting in vain and consumed by denial
With a faint spark of hope, you ignite a signal fire
But we can't be rescued from this pretense now

Won’t stop for these lightmares
Bright and shiny moving lightmares
Even if I close my eyes strobe light kills the glow of the night
Pop the lights from these lightmares
Zombies dancing to the lightmare

Oh I could see it at the corner of my eye a drug device seeking to ignite
Glowing colors bright bright bright
It will be the curse of the hollow light
Won’t stop for green lightmares
Bright and shiny moving lightmares
Even if I close my eyes stroblight kills the glow of the night
Pop the lights from this lightmare

Next Time Around by Sleep is The Enemy
You say, it ain't gonna work out
when i saw every little thing thatwe could be
So this is my third and last strike
To win back, those glory days of us both
Next time around i won't be there
I'm standing on bittersweet times with you
So just chew me up and spit me out babe
It's almost dawn and i'm
Drowned in caffeine as i'm Driving around by the street lights By your place
There you go prancing around
like everything's ok when i beg to differ
Next time around i won't be there
Who am i to joke when love was a marathon
So chew me up and spit me out babe
Next time around i won't be there
I'm standing on bittersweet times with you
So just chew me up and spit me out babe
Just chew me up and spit me out babe
