LISTEN I take back everything I ever said about g3 in the past two years I’m dumb and stupid and I love it BUT I will say the one thing that’s been bugging me about it is…. Why did they give all the main characters both biological parents (minus Deuce as I’m not sure whether Lyra has any bio relation)???

Most of the main characters in g1 had either one living parent or divorced parents or adopted and to be honest that was good rep (as minor as it was, as most rep was actually in the diaries) the p much the only big showing of divorced parents even AROUND that time was Phineas and Ferb (hehe mentioning my two big special interests)

Draculaura was adopted after her mom died, Lagoona/Clawdeen/Cleo only showed one parent, Frankie was created by one man, and YES I know that g3 wants to avoid talking about death but you can have different types of families without saying a parent is dead!! All we really have is everyone with a mom and a dad, then deuce with two moms, and spectra with her ghoulma. And to be honest!! It’s fine!! Not everything HAS to be represented everywhere!! And I know that g3 is an alternate universe!! But it’s still a bit disappointing that pretty much everyone has two parents now

one of my biggest peeves with monster high fans is how jackson and holt are handled a lot of the time. like, one of my TOP headcanons is that they are transmasc, BUT there are people who make it so only JACKSON is and holt is fully cis?? because jackson is their ”uwu im a skinny little boye” man (which is another rant i could give) while holt is their bad boy popular dude who CLEARLY is an asshole and can’t POSSIBLY be trans (again, a rant i have) but like… how??? does that work???? when they switch is there smth like the sound of a balloon blowing up or a slide whistle?????

second, when artists tend to draw jackson as this skinny small twink bitch and holt as this massive chad of a man with muscles and height and shit, when 1. they’d have the same body type—it’s one body, and the shape of their body would be the same and 2. though the SHAPE stays the same, HOLT would be noticeably shorter. classic hyde is short as FUCK and looks so weird and doesnt even fit into jekyll’s clothes (and jackson/holt vs henry/edward is something else i could go ON about)

THIRD, i think i WILL say smth about what i mentioned in part one. how people make jackson the skinny scrawny cant possibly hold his own type of guy!!! this is less in art and more of in fanfiction, but still something i wanna say. a lot of people when WRITING jackson tend to uwuify or kinda infantilize him, making him very nervous around people or constant stuttering (i do hc he has a stutter but not to the extent people will write him) and very ”idk how to talk to anyone!!” when in the monster high show he is one of the SMOOTHEST motherfuckers ive seen (“i dont care who’s here, as long as i get to sit next to you” is one of his best lines tbh) and in the movies he actually stands UP for himself, meanwhile holt is a MASSIVE asshole who says slurs and does some borderline sketchy stuff (and then there are the times where theyre shipped together and/or weirdly sexualized but im not getting into THAT.) when in canon… holt’s one of the most funky ass little man ever. hes depressed as fuck in his diary. he has aggression problems but tries to work on them and just wants to give people a good time. and imo JACKSON’S more athletic than he is

i know everyone has their headcanons and im in no way saying you cant have them but these are my opinions on how theyre generally portrayed in fandom

anyone who's giving shit about draculaura having a new body type or frankie being nonbinary isn't a true monster high fan. like. excuse me? didn't monster high teach us to be accepting of everyone and what they are? monster high is queer as HELL. we NEED dolls with different body types. i really fuckin hope that in the future we get plus sized dolls and even physically disabled dolls like finn back. i hope we get more trans dolls. i hope they keep doing this! ive certainly shat on the reboot plenty of times, but that doesn't mean i hate everything about it! that doesn't mean they're not doing something right! all this mixed with the harrassment of actors is just disappointing. you're not freaky, you're not fabulous, you're just an asshole.

I’ve heard SO MANY COMMENTS about this aimed towards me and others on pretty much every platform at this point. I kinda wanna talk about it.

First off, everyone has preferences. Everyone liked what they like and believes what they believe. YOU understand that.

Second, there are people like me who are disabled and disordered (or just generally struggle with this) who have a harder time accepting change than most, even if it’s change for the better. ESPECIALLY when it’s one of your highest/top interests and focuses and has been what you’ve been in love with your entire life. Drastic changes like this can be super fucking hard for people to grasp, whether it’s actually life-altering or some kids show. Either they’re genuinely unable to warm up to it, or it takes a much longer time to than others. And yeah, g3 isn’t for g1 lovers, so g1 isn’t for g3 lovers the same.

And this doesn’t just go for Monster High—this goes for everything. Every time something changes and people don’t like it because change freaks them out (*points to myself*), they get comments like these and it just makes them feel shitty and selfish. Which isn’t the case at all.

Idk, I just don’t think we should be going around and telling people which gen to prefer. Especially in the implied tones people usually do (which are rude ones). I myself am trying to warm up to it but it’s taking time.

to be completely honest nothing makes me more mad than how draculaura treated clawd, ESPECIALLY in why do ghouls fall in love. ghoul only hinted at expensive gifts he couldnt afford, when he tries to do something thoughtful for her she (and her friends!) shit in his face, she then CHEATS ON HIM WITH VAL, then DUMPS him (which… i know that part was on Val, though), and then like. never apologizes

im sure plenty of people have said stuff about this, but like. they could do better, honestly
