for me personally it’s about representation and relating to a character i already identify with in a more personal way! i might not be the best person to comment on this though, because i usually don’t discuss headcanons out of fear of backlash :(

“if a headcanon makes you feel empowered then have at it. that’s what a fandom is for.” that's my stand on it. nobody should be stepping on anybody's toes regardless of headcanon (and the nature of said headcanon). 

however...I'm by no means an expert but I've seen many people make a distinction between true representation and haphazard (ab?)use of labels and would find the latter to be disrespectful. it's a sensitive topic all across the board and the hopeless romantic in me really wish that the whole fandom could come together and address those issues sincerely instead of name-calling and making assumptions about the each other's closed-minded-ness (though the ones I've seen are small-scaled, no scale is too small if it deeply affects someone, yeah?)

you shouldn't feel bad about writing a fanfiction or if you find comfort in an idea! like I said that's the beauty of a fandom, really. but communication is important too, y'know? by the end of the day everyone learns something from somebody. that's why I don't like it when someone outright says "stop having this headcanon", but agree with people who say "maybe we need to step back a bit and scrutinize this train of thought."

#if you want php/mysql i would recommend digitalocean but with a disclaimer that it's kind of for advanced users #like you would be managing the server yourself in a command line. so it's cheaper but you gotta wrestle in the mud with linux #they also got a free 60-day trial + tutorials if you want to try it out to decide if you HATE mud wrestling with linux!
