Language Before/After Kids

Sorry if the humor is a bit crass, but I've witnessed this phenomena so many times with friends who become parents that I could not help but wonder which extreme side of the line these boys fall on.

This is also a bit of a character dive. I kind of like the idea of Leo constantly censoring himself around Casey Junior, because it gives it even more oomph when he says "badass" in the beginning of the movie since it signals that he now views CJ as an adult who he respects, depends on, and can speak with frankly. No censoring needed.

Eugh boy. April what have you started?

Sorry for all the exposition. This chapter has a lot of setup. In fact, I plan to split it here since it's been rather long. It will be a new Arc on the master post, though it pretty much starts up where this one leaves off. At least it looks like we'll be having some fun in the next one.

Also, people have been asking what my plans are with Replica, so I thought I would give an idea of what to expect. To be completely transparent I plan to split Replica into 2 Books. Book 1 (which we're about 2/3 through) will focus on setting up the colony, understanding all the characters, what happened in the past, and the drama that ensues from it. Book 2, is going to be where all this setup is going to come into play. Lots more action leading up to the beginning of the movie. I'm super excited for book 2, it's going to involve a particular mission mentioned briefly in the movie and the chain events it causes that will ultimately lead to both their greatest success against the Krang as well as the colony's ultimate downfall. So all this setup is kind of necessary since this is a little more... plot heavy. I am sorry it is in my nature, even though I know we all just want to see sweet/sad scenes of them all hugging it out (we'll get there eventually)! At least we'll get thatsooner in the Cass Apocalypse crossover I'm now working on. Look forward to it and bring your tear ducts!

DONE.  I'm resisting the urge to do a whole TED Talk on future Leo.  However, I do want to discuss something on the matter.  To be brief, while I see a lot of people in the fandom emphasizing the pain and self loathing of this character (all of which I am certain he goes through) that is not what I see in him by the beginning of the movie.  Some one who hates himself that much and is so bogged down with regret would not be the type to speak about still having "hope" as their greatest weapon (especially in such a cheesy manner).  I see a man who has gone through the ringer and come out the other end harder and wiser.  But most importantly he appears to have doubled down on his faith in himself and even more so in his loved ones.  He knows it's not about him.  That he doesn't have the luxury to be depressed and ultimately must overcome his own mind to achieve his tenacious goals.  Does he still have bad days?  Most certainly, anyone filled with that kind of regret does, but I really think that this is a battle he fights and wins more often than not by the time of 2044.  He is a man dedicated to his cause and family, and while he still has a long ways to go at this point in the story, I feel like this would be the start of him finally forgiving himself.

I'm not into torture porn (though that may surprise some of you) nor do I think it's healthy to wallow in that sort of pain for an extensive period (fandoms can be a great outlet for this, but it can have a huge impact on your mental and emotional state if not treated in a healthy manner), and I want this to be a story of healing rather than one completely bogged down with sorrow.  Because no matter how bleak things can be, you are always worthy of love, especially self love.
