Fic-to-Art #5: Sokka vs. Hahn
I think as a fandom we can agree that, whatever the setting may be, Sokka is always ready to punch Hahn’s lights out :’D
This month’s prompt was an action scene! While there were many cool options, Sokka’s fight against Hahn was a lot more memorable for people than I anticipated when I wrote it xD It won by one vote, and while I took a long time to finish it, I’m mostly happy with the outcome. Not necessarily as happy with the background despite it could be worse x’D but I need to settle on one specific layout for the Grand Royal Dome, I know I do, and I swear one day I shall xD
Hope you guys like it! If you want to partake in the selection of the prompts for the Fic-to-Art Project, just a $1 pledge is enough for you to join the suggestions and voting phase for the creation of these artworks :D

Preview: Gladiator Chapter 172
As Hina’s temporary gladiator, Hahn learns more about his sponsor’s long-standing interest in the Blue Wolf. By the time their week together comes to a close, he will discover there are consequences to his constant flirting with the noblewoman...
Azula and Sokka are ready to enact their plan against Hahn and Hina in a private fight at the Grand Royal Dome. They sense something has changed in Hina, but their plan must go forward regardless: together, they set out to prove the Blue Wolf is anything but the man Hina has believed him to be.

THE GRINCH and Cindy Lou
Yes, good Christmas movies are still made as before. And Grinch is proof of that. Fun, humorous, intelligent, exciting, creative, sarcastic and with eye-popping production, The Grinch easily justifies the - so far - 172 million dollars raised at the box office in the United States.
The story is based on the children's book "How The Grinch Stole Christmas", by Theodore Seuss Geisel, which simply signs Dr. Seuss. Everything happens inside a microscopic snowflake, in the kingdom of Quem-lândia, a place where everyone has a true adoration for Christmas parties. All but the little girl Cindy (Taylor Momsen) and the strange Grinch (Jim Carrey), an ugly and furry creature that lives isolated on top of a mountain. Cindy just can't understand the reason for all those lights, gifts and - especially - all the consumerism that surrounds the festivities. And Grinch ... well, Grinch has a story of its own to tell during the film.
Managing a $ 123 million mega budget, director Ron Howard (the same as Apollo 13) knew very well that I couldn't go wrong. Making a film that only interested children could cost you serious box office damage. Thus, the script was worked on by Jeffrey Price (also a screenwriter for Trapped Roger Rabbitt ) so that the film entertained consumers of all ages. Some situations of adult humor that were not included in the book were added here and there, in addition to moments of satire to the cinema clichés themselves (the scene where Grinch escapes an explosion, in the best Duro de Matar style ) is priceless .
The result, on the one hand, caused the Motion Pictures Association of America to deny the film the "free censorship" certificate, releasing only the so-called Parental Guidance, that is, a child can, but accompanied by parents. On the other hand, turnover lived up to expectations, and the film is already - at the moment - the fourth largest American box office of the year, second only to Mission Impossible 2 , Gladiator and Sea in Fury . In two or three weeks, you have the potential to reach the top spot.
Art direction is a separate chapter. Quem-lândia and its inhabitants form a magical world, full of unusual shapes. They are humanoid with the face of a mouse, "real" cars with a toy look, asymmetrical houses, weird hairstyles, profuse colors, in a kind of mixture of Tim Burton and The Fantastic Chocolate Factory . All with the narration of Anthony Hopkins (in the few subtitled copies) or Antônio Fagundes (in the dubbed copies).
Perhaps in Brazil the box office numbers are not so resounding, since neither the original book nor Dr. Seuss himself are known here. Regardless of this, however, the film deserves to be seen by children and adults of all ages. Minors will enjoy the character's look and hyperactivity. The older ones will enjoy the creative effervescence. And more adults will see - finally - a script that criticizes Christmas consumerism without falling into fussiness.
