Is it late, or is it early? It’s too hard to tell anymore, but the candles are burning down to stubs while sunrise is still several hours away. Some have chosen to depart for the night while a smaller, more intimate crowd continues to dance or exchange whispered conversation on the edge of the dancefloor, one more glass of indulgence clasped in their hand.

For the final dance of the night, you’re presented with a waltz and as you find your way to your partner, the music starts up with a song more beautiful than any other that night. It’s their final performance and they want to make it count.

Dance sets can last up to an hour and you’ve been through at least three, can anyone be blamed for feeling out of breath and having a gnawing pit in their stomach? The band sets aside their instruments for a much needed break and you’re escorted to the dining room to an elegantly laid table, candlelight reflecting off sharply cut glass.

As one day bleeds into the next with the steady approach of midnight, you find yourself seated and waiting to be served as conversation strikes up all around you. With nearly two dozen food options casting a delicious scent into the air, there is certainly much to chew upon as you catch little mentions of dance floor blunders and questions about visiting royalty - what country did you say they were from, again?

Before the drudgery of the Parliament season begins, the Duchess of Bedford has invited the prestigious members of London to join her for a ball with promises of being able to meet with royalty. No one is quite sure which royal she means, the invitation left annoyingly and improperly vague, but the mystery is part of the fun, isn’t it?

On the evening of November 21st, your carriage arrives at a sumptuous home flickering with light, the laughter of others trailing through the air. You’ll be treated to a meal between dances, of course, but first you must attempt to win your way onto someone’s dance card! There are ambitious mamas hauling around their marriageable children everywhere, so an introduction will be easy, but a dance with the wrong person might be torture.

This is it, your first event in London, and good luck to you!

For this event, you’ll be asked to submit up to three names to the main to be paired with and we’ll use this to help determine who you’ll meet over the course of your evening. You won’t be matched with every name and if you’re struggling to pick who to suggest, you can replace a name with ‘random’ and leave it fully in the hands of the admin!

You’ll have until the 16th to submit your names and you’ll be assigned a dinner partner, a dance partner, and a random encounter at the end of the night. For now, find your name on the following list and see about starting a thread to get on their dance card! (You can roll in the discord server for help deciding how this goes. Your dance partner will be someone different from your partner here, don’t worry about getting turned down!)
