Goncharov is trending again so my brain is rotating the Frontier-kids' reaction to it

Takuya - Takuya is too busy with his football career to participate in the collective delusion, but he's enjoying every second of it. He orders a copy of the poster and hangs it in his living room. He keeps scrolling tumblr to see what's new. He tries to have serious discussions about the movie with his team mates, but they don't fall for it (Takuya has already pulled to many jokes on them). He absolutely dies of laughter when he hears Martin Scorsese getting in on the meme.

Izumi - Izumi is right in the middle of it. She's writing fanfics. She's doing art. She casually talks with her workmates about the first time her dad let her watch Goncharov when she was 5 and way too young to understand what was going on. One of them is onboard with the joke, a couple of the others go home to see if they can find it and are pretty upset the next day because the movie sounded really interesting. If you know her it's absolutely clear that her fanfics are loveletters to her old and new life in Italy.

Junpei - Junpei learns all the songs by heart. He can play them on the piano. He learns and/or makes up lyrics to them. His neighbours are not amused. A few people ask him where the songs are from and he tells them they're from the greatest Mafia movie ever made, an old time classic. Goncharov. Some of them fall for it.

Kouichi - Kouichi is too busy being a doctor to even notice it. He's also too tired to care when someone tries to trick him with it. Being a doctor is exhausting. He would have loved participating, but sadly kids keep getting sick and injured and someone needs to help them. A couple months after it was big a kid asks him who his favorite Goncharov-character is and Kouichi learns everything about the movie that doesn't exist and now there's no need trying to find it. (Also his favorite character is Ice-pick Joe because he understands that sometimes you just gotta stab someone with an ice-pick.)

Tomoki - Tomoki is also in the middle of it. He's making up plot-points and characters, helps Izumi by beta-reading her fanfics. He keeps Takuya updated on the latest development. He's making a fangame. Being a politician sure comes with a lot of free-time. His favorite character? The cat that was a key-element in the sixth scene and mirrored the struggles Goncharov had to go through to get to Italy.

Kouji - Kouji is away from internet and the group chat when it hits. Mostly because he forgot his phone at Takuya's place but it's not like he needs it to take pictures of the Himalayas. When he returns to civilization the group chat has moved on and he completely misses out on it. Which means he absolutely falls for it when Takuya suggests they watch Goncharov an evening. Kouji spends an hour trying to find it on various streaming-sites and is not amused when he realizes.

Takuya is very proud about managing to trick Kouji with it >:D

Why Someone Might Love Them:

if you’re about grey moralities, ambiguity, and anti-heroes, you’ll probably love Fallane. he’s also very protective, and a single dad of energetic twins so there’s no shortage of relatability, either. but I think a lot of his charm comes from his interactions with other characters, because he feels very strongly and brings many things other characters are afraid to say. there’s a weighty sense of honesty with him, and a real desire to do right by the world and help the downtrodden. he also struggles with trauma and mental illness and he’s really, really messed up but he

and sometimes he fails and I think people will find a surprising amount to identify with. Fallane is my ultimate walking contradiction, but I think it works.

Why Someone Might Hate Them:

I feel like he’s a character people would be just indifferent toward UNTIL people started being apologists and saying he does nothing wrong and then he’d be one of those characters that the fandom just splits on, as polarizing ends get increasingly more argumentative. he can be manipulative too and I think people might take issue with things like that, but I feel like most people who would actively hate him would be misinterpreting him. he’s not supposed to be a paragon of good morality

in the first few waves of this ‘verse Fallane was a definite villain, if a hero-aiding anti-villain. then I decided villains were overrated and now there’s no villains, just a complicated mess of varying degrees of grey morality. in canon, this is reflected. he goes from a certain ‘I can’t do anything substantial about it so I just won’t bother’ to someone who

he’s learning how to live. much of Fallane’s backstory (and his role-switch from anti-villain to anti-hero) came from when I got over being suicidal, so he’s sometimes a comfort character. ngl, I also love his aesthetic. Why You Love Them:

Eliza is a character from the second wave of this ‘verse, so she’s quite old to have changed so little. I also love how she can differ depending on the time, so her roles change depending on the context. her personality doesn’t really change between any of them, but she’s a very complex character (a side effect of having been in my head for at least 5 years) and you can actually

1. Who was your favourite teacher at school and why? My 9th grade Lit teacher. She was the kindest soul I’ve ever met.

2. Whats your favourite party game? I LOVE MAFIA. I’m not talking about basic mafia. You gotta play upgraded versions. I personally love playing one called One Night Ultimate Werewolf. I also like playing the law version which is made for super big groups - There’s police involved, and they choose the mafia. The person accused can hire lawyers who defend them. The police have to present their reasoning, and the lawyers have to figure out how to prove them wrong. God it’s basically Danganronpa isn’t it.

3. Is it acceptable or unacceptable to smack a child as form of discipline? Now this is controversial, and understandably so. I personally would never hit my child and yell at them. But for other people, if it’s a light smack, like a pat, I guess it’s alright. But otherwise nothing harder than that.

4. Can a hetrosexual male ever wear pink? Um, yes??? Do what you want man.

5. Is it criminal to wear socks with sandals? Listen I’ve seen too many people wear these in public to the point where I’m numb to it.

chewing her gum she leaned into her seat. a pretty girl but lacked posture, it was all apart of the character. bonnie usually carried herself with strength and although she presented herself as strong her words didn’t mirror her mannerisms. “well, you know, girls have it different. guys they just get it because their guys but girls? no, we gotta work for not one but both.” she pointed a finger at her chest, “and me? i chose respect. a girl needs that ya’know? ‘specially in the world we live in today.”

the pop of her gum was to distract from the doubt and guilt riddled in her eyes. when she joined the FBI program she made the promise to serve and protect and she found herself, sitting her, doubting the very thing that motivated her to come to america and make a difference. — she laughed, it seemed like the most appropriate thing to do. “oh honey! when you do what i do, you don’t really have a choice. now i believe in free will and all that jazz but i also believe in keeping your ass safe. so you know? it’s best not to be such a pussy about certain things.”

yet another question to comprise her morals. she looked at her hands, forcing the illusion that she was checking her nails that were, of course, well-kept. it was all apart of a game with an unclear ending. and while the goal was clear when she first went undercover it became skewed when she learned the stories of the family she now ‘worked’ for. “i do what i think i should do. and i do what i think is right. ” she responded her head now lifting. it titled to the side blonde strands of hair following the same lead. she swallowed her expression suddenly turned dark, “so you see, when i was a little girl there was a boy who used to always run over in tears to my home. he’d go straight past the front gate and into our backyard.” she leaned in to her seat if there was any truth in this interview it was this story. “he’d climb up the tree and stay there. now his parents — his mother would come and fetch him but this time around my mama allowed him to stay. that he could come home when he felt like it.” she furrowed her brows as she paused to take a breath. “now, this kid had it all. he was far better off. nice house, loving parents. so i asked him why he kept doing this. he never gave me an answer. so i tried to help him, since he stayed up there all night i brought him some breakfast in the morning. but he shook his head no — and then i got angry.” her jaw clenched. “so i went to the tool shed and i got an axe and i gave the tree a wack. he cried. i told him to come down but he didn’t. so i have the tree another wack. and i kept on until he finally jumped out from the tree. — i guess all he needed was a little motivation.” she composed herself. “so that’s what i think. people should do what i think is right — before i get my axe.” a short pause was soon broken by her girlish giggle.

“ever seen that movie the usual suspects?” she got excited, her gum popped as she crossed her legs. she liked movies, she remembered watching american movies in cuba. it helped her learn english a little bit more. “there’s a line from verbal — kevin spacey’s character, he won a oscar for that by the way. it goes something like, ‘the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the world he didn’t exist.’” her smile only grew. “isn’t that something? i feel like with anonymity you can do anything. give evil a face, then you’ve got a target.”
