Hamefura romantic's progress

Hi everyone I was thinking about it for a long time and now we will talk about everyone's romantic's progress recently.

1) Geordo

Geordo is without any doubt the one with the most sweet moments, he kissed her a lot of times and we even had a chapter and some bonus stories on his feelings so I used to see him as the man lead but...in the chapter 5 in the light novel 13 Geordo ended up banned from the Claes House because he forcibly kissed Catarina out of jealousy so maybe the author wants to let the others have some moments too or maybe it will be ignored in the next novel. So there are still some chances. But Geordo is first for the time being. So don't worry Geokata's fans.

2) Keith

Keith is still behind Geordo but he doesn't really make any progress, he protects Catarina from Geordo and scolds her but that's all. His sweet moments seem a bit minors too. But at the end of the light novel 13 he seemed quite imposant while talking to Geordo so there is still some hope for him. But Keith is still shy about it so maybe the next sweet moments will be a bit late for him but he still have the avantage of being one of the only ones who confessed to her and he have their father's cheering. For the time being he is still mom zoned.

3) Maria

In the late volume Maria seems to have make some progress and even glared at Cezar, a royal, because she was afraid he will take Catarina to another country as his fiancée. And Catarina saved her from Sarah and some thugs but I don't think we have any sweet moment. I think she only glared at Cezar because she wants to stay by Catarina's side and if she is married to a foreign royal, it will not be possible anymore. Moreover she realized that Cezar is interested in Catarina. Still I personnaly see her as Catarina's personal bakery in my mind. But now she is protected at the Ministry of Magic so I don't know if we will have any sweet moment soon.

4) Raphael

I had a hard time to choose but it seems that Raphael is suprisingly one of the person who makes to most romantic's progress. I was suprised, generally we don't really mention him but in the last volume we talk about him a lot at the beginning and at the end of it. With Catarina blushing at his praise, thinking that if he was serious there would be no women resisting him, him worrying sick about her and agreeing with Laura when she said Catarina was too cute so a foreign prince could fall in love with her at first sight. What's more, the mysterious man Cezar and Catarina met is heavingly suspected to be his father, Marquis Dieke. So maybe the plot will be focused on Raphael for a while... Maybe the author felt bad for leaving him out ? For the time being Raphael seems to be seen as a love interest again so he still has his chances.

5) Cezar

The last volume was mainly focused on Cezar, we learn at of things about him and he was officially introduced as one of Catarina's love interests and he has Jean on his side , who now definitely wants Catarina to choose Cezar. Cezar is still in Sorcier at the end of the volume so I don't know if the story will still be focused on him or if his moments will be minors again. What's more we still don't know if Cezar will pursue Catarina even after what happened with Geordo or if he will try to contain his feelings again. Catarina doesn't seem to see him as an ordinary friend too... But I guess his position will depend of the next volume. He is a prince after all so he can rivalised with everyone.

6) Sora

Sora seems to have at least one sweet moment per volume and it's generally at the Ministry's gate. He is slowly but safely making progress. Catarina seemed to have big brother zoned him. But in the volume 13 he almost didn't appear .Maybe because it was mainly focused on Raphael and Cezar. But in the light novel 12 he is the only one to know a bit about Catarina's secret and biggest fear. He is also one of the only ones who know more or less Catarina's relationship with Cezar because the two of them wanted to save Catarina during the kidnappings at the Harbor ocean. So he still has his chances. Maybe an another rival will help him to step in. Anyway, for the time being he doesn't make any significant progress.

7) Alan and Nicol

Alan and Nicol unfortunately don't have any sweet moment since the light novel 11 where they got only one or two which are minors. Maybe they will have more sweet moments in the next volumes, who know ? But now they don't appear much and not with Catarina alone, so they should stand up a bit. Maybe the commotion with Cezar will help them. So don't stop cheering for them.

8) Mary

In Mary's case Catarina only seems to see her as a friend so we rarely ever have any sweet moment between these two. But Mary still gives her best and work hard for it. And of course protected Catarina from her others rivals.

9) Sophia

Even if Sophia is in love with Catarina, it seems that she isn't seen as a romantic interest anymore. She is seen as one of Catarina's best friends and Acchan's reincarnation. So we don't have any romantic progress with her but she still cheers up on her brother and wants to help him, we have a lot of funny moments with her and she is quite important in the plote too.

No ranked) Aaqil

The new character and love interest, I feel like I shouldn't ranked him yet since we only see him in the movie (and of course the light novel of the movie) but I don't think we should forget him. He seems important and I'm sure he will come back soon. And I love how bold he is, kissing her hand in front of everyone and even call her his "ranyamu" alias "beloved". I thought "How bold of him" He swore he will come to Sorcier again to meet Catarina so we can look forward to it.

Does anyone know what will the Hamefura movie be about? Some say it's about FL2 (Volume 6 and so on?) while others say it's an original story??

(Series: Fate/Strange Fake | Artist: Shizuki Morii)

The fall season is packed with interesting shows and I've ended up watching more series than I usually would. I'm behind on a few of them but I'm trying to let myself be okay with that. I haven't watched any new JJK episodes since the last update. I'll catch up to it eventually but I'm waiting until I hear that Nobara and Maki have had some quality screen time. I also have nothing new to say about Pokemon Horizons. It's still a delight that I look forward to watching every week. As for everything else...

After-school Hanako-kun (2 eps) - a gag spin-off of Toilet-bound Hanako-kun. I enjoyed the original Hanako a lot so I was looking forward to seeing the return of the characters but I haven't enjoyed this one much so far. I don't think I've laughed once so far which is not a good thing a series of shorts focused on comedy. At least the episodes are only 10 minutes long but I'm disappointed that this isn't better.

Dead Mont Death Play Part II (2 eps) - I enjoyed the first half of DMDP but I can't say the return of it has impressed me much yet. It's fine but I'm not really intrigued by any of the new plot points or characters and I'm struggling to remember what I enjoyed about the first half.

Frieren (7 eps) - really good and worth every bit of the hype. I love this exploration of the elf character and how an elf would view time and relationships differently to how humans view them. The fantasy world is so beautiful, the story is engaging, and I love the characters. Probably my favourite show of the season so far.

I'm in Love with the Villainess (4 eps) - I've read the first 4 volumes of the manga for this and the light novel has been of my wishlist for a long time so I was excited about it getting an anime adaptation and it's good so far. I mostly have the same thoughts on the anime as I do on the manga: the character drama is really engaging but the world building is meh. But the anime does bring something new the table with some amazing voice acting. Yuu Serizawa and Karin Nanami are perfectly cast for Rae and Claire, respectively, and make all their interactions even more fun to witness. Some gags that I didn't find funny at all in the manga made me laugh in the anime due to the impeccable comedic timing. The animation is a bit disappointing at times but it's such a fun ride that I can't be too mad.

Spy x Family 2nd season (3 eps) - Spy x Family is back and it's still really good. Like with the first season, I don't love all of the plotlines but the ones that are good are really good. This show is comforting and I'm glad it's back.

The Ancient Magus' Bride Season 2 Part II (4 eps) - while I thought the first part of this season set up a lot of good intrigue, it's in this second part that I'm starting to get really engaged in the character drama and story. I'm so invested in what's going to happen with Philomela and I'm excited every week for the new episodes. It also helps that the OP this time is incredible. In a season with a lot of strong openings, it may be my favourite.

Learning About Boundaries

An idea that I discussed with @dulcito-on-ao3 

Ever since being rescued, Keith has taken to being more direct and pushy when reminding Katarina of his feelings and confession, not unlike Prince Gerald. 

During one of those instances, Luigi walks in and demands to know what is happening, not pleased that his son is seemingly taking advantage of his daughter.

Katarina and Keith are scared that Keith will be disowned and kicked out. Luigi reassures them that won’t happen but he wants an explanation.

Keith explains the reason why he was acting that way. Luigi scolds Keith for his behavior because it’s inappropriate no matter his reasons. The Light Novels imply that Luigi knows about Keith’s feelings for Katarina and is not against them but I don’t think that he would approve of that behavior. 

I’m going with the idea that Millidiana was not aware that Keith has romantic feelings for Katarina and is shocked to learn about it. Not because she is against it but because she never considered because she sees Keith as her son.

But she also doesn’t approve of his behavior. So Keith gets a long lecture about boundaries.

Luigi and Millidiana also have a talk with Katarina and ask her how she feels about Keith’s behavior. She explains that she’s conflicted and a bit uncomfortable because, while Keith is handsome, she has considered him her brother for years and those feelings still remain. Katarina realizes that she wants Keith only as her little brother.

Keith told his parents that Gerald also acted pushy so they ask Katarina about what the prince did. Katarina explains about the sudden kisses and whispered words that make her heart race. They ask her if that makes her uncomfortable but Katarina reassures them, explaining that she doesn’t hate it but it’s just very intense for her.

This is meant to be set before Volume 11, maybe a bit after they graduated and Katarina started working at the Ministry, but I want to Katarina to have her realization that she is scared of love earlier. She talks about it with her parents who give her some advice about it. They also give her a lecture about needing to be firm with her boundaries.

I have the idea that the Claes - maybe just Luigi - also have a talk with Prince Gerald about his behavior. Gerald would be regretful because he knows that behavior isn't right and he sees Luigi as a father-figure.

I want to end this with a bit where Katarina and Gerald talk about their relationship. Katarina is willing to give Gerald a chance but makes it clear what her boundaries are.

Plant Mage Katarina AU

Katarina's magic is actually very powerful but most of it is aligned towards plants (Botanokinesis or Phytokinesis). Very little is related to literal earth - explaining her Earth Bump - though she can make any soil optimal for plant growth. She can also make any plants, fruits, and vegetables grow bigger and faster, as well as enhance their attributes like taste, nutrituness and in the case of magical plants, enhance their natural properties.

Plant Magic is a rare variant of Earth Magic that very few people possess. It’s actually rarer that Light Magic as Katarina is the only person who presently has it - the last wielder of this magic lived about a century ago - and there are other Light Mages besides Maria.

Katarina first manifests this magic when she's learning to farm, around the time that she met Mary. At first, the girls notice that the plants seem to grow faster/thrive and wonder about it but, since it's not too extreme, they shrug it off as luck. That is, until Katarina mentally wishes that the eggplants or cucumbers or something were bigger; her magic activates and they instantly grow larger. The giant vegetables surprise everyone and after Katarina explains what happened, her parents bring some MInistry officials that confirm that Katarina is a Plant Mage.

Katarina's parents are shocked at first, then very proud when they learn that Katarina possesses a rare form of magic. Though Milli is a bit miffed that they had to tell the Ministry officials about Katarina's field. Then they learn just how valuable Katarina's magic is - the last mage with this power saved the kingdom from a famine. If she weren't engaged to Gerald, many nobles would be offering marriage proposals for the chance to have that magic in their families. The Ministry is also very interested in having Katarina join them. The only reason they don’t push is because the Duke and Duchess won’t allow their daughter to be pressured to join.

Due to the value of Katarina's plant magic and to prevent people from trying to exploit her, the engagement with Prince Gerald must be kept. Also, if the Claes try to annul it, other nobles could accuse them of wanting to keep the power to themselves. Katarina believes that this is a Doom Flag because Gerald can't just break the engagement anymore, even if they both agree. So (in her logic) if he falls for Maria he will have to get rid of Katarina for sure.

Since the engagement cannot be broken, Millidiana starts to put more pressure on Katarina to improve her manners, giving her longer and more frequent etiquette lessons that cut on her hobbies and time with her friends. Katarina initially puts up with it but, eventually, she can’t take the pressure anymore and stands up to her mother about it.

Katarina also calls her mother out on her favoritism towards Keith as well as her criticism towards Katarina’s hobbies and behavior for not being “ladylike”. Millidiana argues that she must think about the Claes’ family reputation and what the other nobles will think of her. Katarina argues back that her friends don’t mind her quirks and that she doesn’t care about what others nobles think because they don’t know the real her, so their insults don’t hurt her. What does hurt is that her own mother doesn’t have any faith in her. (I know that it seems OOC for Katarina to get angry and call-out someone like that, but she was under a lot of pressure that finally boiled over and everyone has limits). Katarina then goes back to her room, leaving a shocked and guilty Millidiana to think about her actions.

Afterwards, Millidiana and Katarina have a talk where Millidiana explains that she was so strict because she didn’t want Katarina to suffer like she did and was afraid that she wouldn’t be able to handle the responsibilities of being a prince’s consort. Katarina understands her mother’s reasons and promises to do her best to take her manners a bit more seriously while Milli promises to be a bit more open-minded about Katarina’s eccentricities.

Although she now has a better relationship with her mother, Katarina is still worried about the Doom Flags related to her engagement to Gerald. Her parents reassure her that, if she doesn’t want to marry Prince Gerald, they’ll ask for the engagement to be broken no matter what the other nobles may think, but Katarina doesn’t want her family to be hurt for her sake.

Sometime before her 15th birthday and social debut, Katarina talks to Gerald about how she feels like she has him trapped in the engagement and that she’s afraid that he’ll hate her for it. Gerald reassures her that he doesn’t hold it against her and he reveals this feelings for her. Katarina is shocked and a bit in denial, asking Gerald why would he fall in love with her. When Gerald tells her why, Katarina asks him how he’s sure that it’s not just a passing infatuation and that he won’t fall in love with another girl. Gerald is certain that he truly loves Katarina but, if she really doesn’t feel the same, he’ll break the engagement in a way that will keep her safe and won’t hurt her family. Katarina tells him that she needs time to think about it and he accepts.

After learning that Gerald confessed to Katarina, Mary and Sophia do the same. Katarina is surprised and flattered but tells them that, while she does love them, she only sees them as sisters. Mary and Sophia are sad but they understand and are glad that they at least told Katarina their feelings. Mary decides that she’ll settle for being her sister in-law by marrying Alan and Sophia has the idea to pursue Keith because “if Katarina won’t marry my brother, then I’ll become her sister by marrying hers!”

As for the boys, Keith accepts that Katarina only sees him as a brother, Nicol keeps his feelings for Katarina hidden, and Alan is still unaware of his feelings for Katarina at this point.

Due to her unique magic, Katarina takes specialized practical classes with Kai Gerran as her teacher - he’s part of the Department of Magical Powers Research. Part of her lessons include identifying what plants grow where and what uses they have. It’s a bit difficult to learn about all the plants but Katarina receives help from Mary, and the two girls enjoy spending time together. Katarina bonds with Maria over both having rare magic and the expectations people have on them because of it.

A few other things that Katarina does with her magic are: creating plant Golems/animals, growing fruits and vegetables in interesting shapes, and swinging on vines like Tarzan.

Most of the Academy plot stays the same except that Katarina is aware of Gerald’s feelings and her friends are not competing for her affection - though they still warn Gerald to not try anything funny with Katarina. Katarina begins to develop feelings for Gerald but it’s hesitant to pursue him because, even though Gerald has no interest in Maria, she doesn’t know if Maria is interested in Gerald. After talking to Maria and Gerald and being reassured by them, Katarina starts to go on dates with him. There also Alan/Mary and Keith/Sophia developing in the background.

Katarina will still get Pochi and will become a Grass/Dark Dual-Type.

Some of the threats that Katarina faces due to her powers are: unscrupulous Ministry officials interested in studying her magic and others countries with agricultural issues looking to acquire her for themselves. Some foreign nobles attempt to seduce her into marrying them but Bakarina is to dense to notice their attempt and her friends protect her. One noble resorts to kidnapping Katarina but he’s captured before he can return to his country - and Katarina had pretty much rescued herself already. There are a few more kidnapping attempt - from both nobles and researchers - but they are thwarted before they happen.

OG Katarina also had this magic but, since she never interacted with plants directly, it never awakened/became noticeable. Her ego would have inflated even more that it already was if she did learn that she had this magic.

OG Prince Gerald would actually benefit a lot more from keeping this engagement since having a fiancée with rare magic would intimidate other ladies. Unfortunately, OG Katarina interprets his words “I already have a fiancée that has rare magic” as “I love my fiancée” which would cause her romantic pursues to get worse.

Not to mention, OG Maria’s chances of graduating the Academy with minimal mental health would drop drastically - unless the other Capture Targets protect her.

Keith Makes a Wish and Sees an Alternative Timeline

One day, Keith thinks that things would be much better if Katarina never got engaged to Prince Geordo. A magical mirror near him reacts to his wish and shows him a timeline where Katarina never got engaged to anyone.

Keith soon realizes that things are not better in this timeline. For ien thing, if Kataria is not engaged, then the Claes have no reason to adopt Keith, meaning that he is still with the Colemans.

Also, if Katarina isn’t Geordo’s fiancée, the Geordo gets engaged to someone else. In light of Light Novel 12, let’s say that Geordo’s fiancée in this timeline is Frey Randall. This would mean Geordo would be unable to remain neutral and became tied to Geoffrey’s faction.

I’m not sure what else would be different in this timeline but the story would end with Keith realizing that his current life is the best alternative for everyone.

Anya’s Birthday

I hope that I’m not the only one who wants to see a chapter about celebrating Anya’s birthday.

This can go several ways: 

1) Becky asks Anya when her birthday is and Anya is confused and like “What’s a birthday?” - I bet the scientists never considered celebrating her birthday if they wanted her to study instead of being a child. Once Anya learns what a birthday is, she asks her Papa when is hers is. Now, while Anya’s real birthday is unknown, Loid had have to write a date when he acquired (fake) ID papers for Anya, so that date would be Anya’s birthday.

2) Yor is the one who asks Loid when is Anya’s birthday and Loid gives the date registered in Anya’s (fake) ID papers.

After the situation of the birthday date is resolved, what’s left is to prepare the party. Anya’s favorite foods are prepared (including a cake) and guests are invited (Becky obviously but also Franky and Unkie Yuri). Party games are played and presents are opened. Just a sweet birthday chapter.

Spy Sent to Seduce the Boys Fails Spectacularly

This idea was inspired by Accomplishments of a Duke’s Daughter.

Another kingdom sends a female spy/saboteur to weaken Sorcier/get information by seducing the highest-ranking young noblemen which are Nicol, Keith, Gerald and Alan. Of course, this fails because the boys are only interested in Katarina.

The spy thinks that the girls are the reason why her seduction isn’t working (she’s not completely wrong), so she plots to remove them by Wounded-Gazelle Gambits to make them look bad. These gambits fail because the boys don’t believe them, the girls (minus Katarina) know the spy is sus, and Katarina is to kind and dense for that to work.

The spy might try to set her sights on the older princes but that plan fails as well.

For a funny twist, the spy is convinced that Katarina is smarter than she appears and is onto her. Katarina, of course, does not notices anything amiss with the spy and is always nice to her.

This is meant to be a bunch of silly shenanigans of the spy failing to seduce the boys though it can be a more serious story.

Hi! Not really a question, but I just really want to thank you for translating and updating us with bakarina. I started the series when it was at LN 5 and the fandom was sparse. Fan translation was halted bec of some copyright issues and I was struggling to find any spoilers for the newer ones (I even tried Japanese websites and used trans machines but Holy guacamole, these Japanese and their copyrights yohhh)

So I stopped following the story altogether 😂 it also doesn't help that I ship katarina with geordo so much and just want to see them together.

I am now currently trying to keep up with what is happening and hopefully, we get to see the end soon (or maybe I'm the only one who wants to see the series getting wrapped up). Now where am I getting into this? Oh right, thank you so much for doing what you're doing! <3

Thanks for your message! I am glad you enjoy the Hamefura contents I post. I always want to get the latest development on the story and I can't help wanting to share them with other fans ^^.

Don't be so hard on copyright issues. I am glad Hamefura got an official English translation and JNovel is even up to date with the Japanese release.

Despite the latest developments, I don't think we are near the end. Or rather I hope so, since I think Katarina still needs a lot of development before she can really choose someone. I also hope other plots will get adressed sometime, like whether Katarina will come clean and tell the truth to everyone, or if OG!Katarina will get redeemed in FL2 (I have the feeling she is not as evil as we may think). Since FL2 started at LN6 and LN11 corresponds to the midpoint, hopefully we still have 6 volumes left at least.

The way Hamefura has been evolving once it surpassed the original web novel is interesting, to say the least. Like, I’ve read up until volume 7 at this point and there’s really this unsettling element to it.

Like, in the original story events like those in Fortune Lover would play out despite how Katarina changed. This could be explained away with the use of dark magic and Sirius wanting to get rid of her fine. But the problem is that following that, a sequel is announced as part of the continued story and the novels work towards that sequel happening. Katarina being kidnapped? Puts Sora where he was needed to be for the sequel (plus, how it possibly happened to Maria). Keith being kidnapped gets Katarina a dark familiar. Volume 5 is filler, but Vol 6 starts the FL2 plot and has Katarina and Maria both gain magic tools that increase their powers. Now in Vol 7, they each get covenants like their game counterparts did and Maria is commenting on how it feels like the universe is trying to take Katarina away.

I kinda have this theory. The universe IS trying to rerail the Fortune Lover universe after the, let’s just call it the Katarina Ending for Maria. It was an ending that wasn’t supposed to happen. Since magic is involved, the universe began affecting Japan leading to the creation of a sequel which devalued the endings of the first game (except, possibly, the harem ending). It also, possibly, prevented Monkey Girl from dying if Acchan’s comment about telling “her” about Fortune Lover 2 is to hold any weight. Maybe the Hamefura-universe made it intervene in Monkey Girl’s death in other timelines?

Light and Dark magic have been referred to as two sides of the same coin. Light magic is used to heal wounds, but dark magic according to spoilers can achieve similar results. Dark magic is supposed to manipulate emotions that are already there, but spoilers say Maria can make people feel things like guilt. Considering the covenants both use the same hidden magic tool to unlock their full power, perhaps it points to them being the same magic approached from different angles. We know the dark magic orb says that Katarina can drown the world in it, but who is to say that the light magic orb is that benevolent?

I feel like adding to this is how the franchise seems to hint that something was up in Fortune Lover. Maria makes herself out to be someone who only looked after herself and keep people at arm’s length, which could explain her questionable actions in the first game and how the game doesn’t give insight into her own problems. FL Katarina is shown to have friends and some lines seem to indicate she’s not so different from her counterpart. Geordo dislikes his grandfather for abusing his power to have a harem yet would abuse his power to get rid of his fiancee and woo Maria. Part of Hamefura has always been there was more to the characters than the game made them out to be, and I’ve long since stopped taking the game as this ultimate authority on them.

So what I think is going to happen in the end is it’s going to be revealed that the magic controls people to an extent, taking away their free will to some extent and pushes them to act out certain roles. Roles that would follow the plot of the game, and when Katarina remembered her past life she freed herself from this which had a ripple effect (Wild Monkey vs. Maria’s Wild Butterfly) it disrupted this. Maria’s “victory” is likely tied to maintaining this, and when she went down a different path the magic instead used it’s power to create the sequel in Japan and prevent other versions of the Monkey girl from dying. In the end, it’s going to be about free will and Katarina fighting to forever be rid of the villainess title that the universe seems to want to hang over her. And part of that is her realizing that Maria wasn’t really so much of a heroine in Fortune Lover, more a damaged teenage girl who would cling to whomever would show her attention and would do anything in order to have her own happy ending.

We only know about Kyo’s dad so far…hmm…what about the mother? Update: (TW: suicide) I think it was at this point we already knew that Kyo’s mother didn’t love him and committed suicide, but it’s not certain until later.

I’ve been wondering…how big is the Sohma family? Is it diluted enough that Haru and Rin can love each other without genetic problems for their child/ren? I KNOW RIGHT!! I absolutely love the vibes of this cover! Seeing the more serious atmosphere in order to represent the serious tone of the manga's arc is amazing! Hidaka Nami's art has improved so much <3 from the more solid shading to the darker tones, it's so cool!

I mean just look at the differences between Manga Volume 6 and 7's covers vibes hgfdsjhfgds you can tell that this arc is supposed to be taken seriously with a cover like that! Ugh I can't stop grinning, I'm so proud of Hidaka's art improvement I won't shut up about it!

To answer your question, this is Manga Volume 7's cover. This book will cover right about where the anime ends, so this is Maria, Katarina and Geordo during their quest to find the kidnapped Keith. Unlike the anime, Geordo has a more plain attire for the mission. I'm assuming the anime didn't adapt it either due to budgeting issues or conflicts with Hidaka Nami since the episode may have been in the process of being animated even before the manga was able to cover Keith's kidnapping arc.

There’s a female Raphael??? •_• Can you please show me?

Yeah, there is! Knowing that Anne's male version got a cameo, it makes me feel bad that we didn't get one of Raphael qwq

I think Fem!Raphael is the cutest because it's a really well done conversion of the atmosphere and vibe of his normal version, and the gentleness of the design makes the fact that he's evil and twisted in Fortune Lover a cool twist if you imagine the scenarios with the genderbent cast. She looks so sweet and harmless uwu

One of my favorite hamefura jp artists, @/yawarakaoni9 who loves to draw Raphael, often draws his female design since the genderbent hamefura is a super popular au in japan, so I think that is also a reason for my bias towards Fem!Raphael haha

As a bonus, take this kinda female Raphael from the Volume 6 JP ebook. Larna likes dressing up Raphael herself in the novels (since only the anime has him use a magic ring) so she likes fooling around and puts him in dresses because it's fun for her XDD Appreciate the hair drills~!

A lot of the stuff from my "Fray is gonna be Nicol’s future fiancee” theory here is backed up by the fact that I believe that Fray and Suzanna are sisters. Since Fray is given relevance in the second season of the anime, I thought it’d be a nice to talk separate some parts of the theory into it’s own post, because I love talking about Ginger and Fray (and I wanna say it before the anime or any official material does lmao)

Most people who follow me would probably be annoyed about the fact that I won’t stop talking about this, and new followers would probably tell me that it’s kinda obvious. 

And to that I reply with “Shut up, let me have this!! it used to be so hard to defend this theory when Fray didn’t have a visual yet!! People usually dismissed me when I talked about this so let me have my moment!!”

Also not even the japanese hamefura wiki considered it until I spoke about it on pixiv so (shrug emoji). I’m sure it’ll be confirmed or de-confirmed once Ginger’s web novel chapter gets adapted in a few weeks, so let me relish in this old discovery of mine while I still can!! :’’(( Once the episode airs you’ll never hear about this from me ever again lmao

(This isn’t anime spoilers technically, unless the anime really does cover the web novel chapter)

Fray and Suzanna has the same last name. People who watch the anime now won’t get why this is such a big point, but I just could never get over the fact that Fray’s last name in the light novels is “Landoor”, even though it is written in the same kanji as Suzanna’s last name (ランドール). Suzanna already appeared in two volumes prior to Volume 6 (Fray’s formal debut) so it’s not like the translator had never seen the name before.

Same dark blue eyes and black hair. It’s really obvious now that the anime has given Fray an official appearance, but yeah even back then in the light novels Suzanna and Fray are unique because they are both the only characters with black hair and blue eyes. 

Both have a fixation for “interesting” things. In Ginger’s web novel chapter, Fray says that she hangs out with Ginger because she is “interesting”. Suzanna has a fixation on Katarina because she is “interesting”. Technically, Fray was created much earlier than Suzanna was, so it’s just neat to know that it’s all been planned from the beginning.

As of right now (S2 EP3), we have no formal confirmation that they are sibling, but we do have confirmation that Suzanna *has* siblings.

In Suzanna’s POV from the Satoru Yamaguti Bonus SS “The First Prince and his Fiancée”, she mentions that she has a little sister who she rants to. I honestly didn’t even notice it the first time I was reading the special chapter. 

Circling back for a second on my Nicol-Fray theory, it actually helps prove that Nicol’s Lady from Volume 5 really is Fray: Suzanna mentions that her parents are very disapproving of her studying magic, and Nicol’s Lady mentioned the same thing. Volume 3 and 4 only really implied that the Randalls are disapproving of studying magic, but Satoru Yamaguchi’s bonus chapter outright confirms it, which I’m so happy about :DD

If you combine all the details in my Nicol-Fray theory and this Suzanna-Fray theory, everything kinda just pieces itself together in my opinion. Things like Nicol’s Lady (likely to be Fray) loving magic, and wanting to join the ministry to be just like her idol Lana. Even quirks like having a mature aura, doesn’t want to get married and is a very independent person. 

Nicol’s Lady is similar to Fray, who is similar to Suzanna.

Anyways, this has been bugging my mind since last year, and I’m so happy that I’ll get closure once the anime confirms (or de-confirms) Fray and Suzanna’s relationship. I love Fray and Ginger, I’ve liked them ever since I discovered the webnovel extra chapters and I’m so happy that the anime (and potentially Volume 11) will give them the spotlight i’ve always yearned for them to have.
