Victor
Story Event: I want to steal you (95k bonus)
Thanks Cybird for being awful teases. I guess that's how it's going to be with Victor then. By the end, Kate will die of thirst.
I have a sudden urge to give this girl a harem ending. 😏
~~~
I opened my eyes to the rare sight of all members of the Crown gathered together.
Tumblr media
William: "It's time for you to choose to whom you're going to belong to, Kate."
(To choose... 'whom I will belong to'?)
(What's with William all of a sudden ---)
I wanted to laugh it off and say what a joke it was, but the atmosphere was too serious for that.
Moreover, the William I knew always seemed free-spirited and fun but most certainly wasn't a jokester.
(Then what does this all mean...?)
When I suddenly crossed my sight with Harrison's, I blurted out instinctively.
Kate: "Harrison, what the heck is this all about?"
Harrison: "Unlucky for you, what Will said is basically it."
Harrison: "Everyone here wants you so badly, they can't wait to get their hands on you."
Tumblr media
Harrison: "I like you, Kate. Now, is this a truth or a lie..?"
Liam: "That's not fair, Harry. Kate, choose me... I'll go crazy without you."
Tumblr media
Elbert: "Kate, look only at me... I want you... I don't want anyone else to have you."
Alfons: "You can't be satisfied with those tedious men. Wouldn't you rather do something shameless and fun with me?"
Tumblr media
Roger: "It's my job to play with you, isn't it? I'm certain I can torment you until you cry."
Ellis: "Kate, I'll make you happier than anyone else... so choose me."
Tumblr media
Jude: "The moment I take my eyes off you, you're immediately being hit on... Didn't I put a collar on you so you'd know who you belonged to?"
Kate: "What on earth happened to you all...?"
William: "Now then, Kate. `What would you like to do`?"
I stood there stupefied and completely lost for words until someone took my hand.
???: "--- Kate. Here, come with me."
Guided by their hand, I run out into the corridor. Only then did I get a chance to look at the face of my saviour.
Kate: "......Victor."
Tumblr media
Victor: "Phew, I'm glad I could get you out."
I felt instant relief wash over me under the gaze of his jewel-like eyes.
Kate: "I... have no idea why this is happening..."
Victor: "I knew it was a matter of time."
Kate: "Huh..?"
Victor: "You're so charming, Kate. It's no wonder that living together under the same roof made everyone fall in love with you."
Kate: ".......Victor."
Victor: "I have no idea who you're going to choose."
Victor: "But I'll always keep watching over you. Think of me like a large birdcage."
Kate: "Birdcage..?"
Victor: "Yes, I want to see you live freely. See what you want to see, do what you want to do."
Victor: "I'm sure those things will make you an even more wonderful lady."
The door to the birdcage called Victor was always opened.
Always watching over me and setting me free. ...... I guess that was what he meant.
(I'm glad Victor feels this way. His words couldn't be more reassuring)
(... though I wonder why I feel a little bit lonely?)
Victor: "Those are my true feelings. Nevertheless... let me add one more thing."
Victor: "Kate, the last man you choose whilst flying freely..."
(Ah..?)
Suddenly, my arm was pulled and I found myself in his strong embrace.
Tumblr media
Victor: "...is going to be me."
The scent of the deep night that accompanied Victor enveloped my whole body and finally made me realise the meaning behind the loneliness I had felt before.
(Ah, I see...)
(I wished for Victor to want me like this...)
(Not as a bystander but an interested party)
As soon as I became aware of it, my chest ached so sweetly that I couldn't even put my arm around Victor's back.
Victor: "What will you say to that, Kate?"
~~~
Kate: "Y-yes..!"
Tumblr media
Victor: "........"
Kate: "......w-what?"
(......)
(Maybe that was all ---)
Victor: "Haha! I was going to cover you with my coat since you were having a nap, which is quite rare for you, I might add."
Victor: "Are you awake, Kate?"
(Ugh, I knew it!)
Kate: "I'm sorry, I can't believe I fell asleep while you were reviewing my report..."
Victor: "I'm hardly surprised. You were working on it until late, weren't you?"
Kate: ".... how do you know about this?"
Victor: "I noticed that light was pouring out of your room."
Victor: "You always give your best, Kate. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your honest work."
Kate: "......... no, no, not at all!"
As the vivid memory of my dream resurfaced, I felt my cheeks begin to heat up.
(... why such a dream? I have to try not to be overly self-conscious about it)
While I let my gaze wander, trying to hide the content of my dream,
(What?)
I noticed a beautiful birdcage on the office desk.
Kate: "Victor, that birdcage..."
Victor: "Hmm? Oh, this one?"
Victor: "This is, my dear Kate"
He lifted my chin with his index finger and narrowed his eyes.
Tumblr media
Victor: "--- something to keep you locked in."
(---!)
Victor: "Just kidding. It looks like Elbert got a mynah bird, and Al asked me for a cage for it."
Victor: "I've heard that mynah birds can talk..."
Victor: "Huh, Kate? Is something wrong?"
Kate: "This is bad for my heart... Victor."
Victor: "It is...?"

Hello oooh friend! I live your Writing SO much, and I know you have a packed October, but I just had to ask while the idea was fresh in my mind:
IF you have the bandwidth, could you do a little ficlet with Kili x Reader? Everyone always characterizes him as the dumb one, ranging from slightly derpy to downright himbo. But I headcanon that he's not actually dumb, just VERY YOUNG (by Dwarven standards), inexperienced, and a little naive. Could you write something in which he finally gets fed up with the teasing/stereotype, and decides to prove to his (femme Reader) love that he's not as dumb as everyone thinks he is?
Hugs and kisses!
First of all, thank you very much 🙈
That means a lot to me...Well, of course, it was my pleasure to whip something up for dear Kíli :D
Redemption

Words: 1,1k
Warnings: None
Tumblr media
Kíli knew that he was often and quite easily dismissed by his peers; there was neither hatred nor malicious disdain in their instinctive lack of faith in him, but it left an aching void in his heart nonetheless to know that his youth and good cheer were interpreted in his disfavour.
Born and raised in times of uncertainty and desolation, he had done his best not to contribute to his mother and uncle's sempiternal worries and fears; thankfully, he had been blessed with a sunny nature and a seemingly indefatigable inclination for hope and optimistic faith and so, he faced even the darkest of days with unerring good humour.
He certainly made it easy for others to regard him as frivolous or even dumb, but Kíli was fiercely aware of his role and usefulness within his household: he was the younger brother, the only one Fíli – heir to the throne and golden son – could turn to when the weight of a mountain they their people had not seen in many a year became too heavy to bear even on his broad, strong shoulders, and he was proud of his place in the grand scheme of things.
Yes, Kíli knew what was expected of him and he held on to the brittle fibre of sunlight, his devoted trust in his family and their designs, in the endless, voracious obscurity of a potentially cruel fate.
When he heard the person he loved and cherished most in this world – besides his own family – laugh along quietly in reply to yet another disrespectful, contemptuous comment about his surmised stupidity and incompetence though, his heart gave a painful throb.
“We need those plants,” Óin interrupted the banter resolutely, “and I don’t care who goes and with whom.”
“I’ll go,” this other voice Kíli so cherished replied softly, “and I’d be honoured to take the young prince with me. He’ll protect and entertain me well, no doubt.”
Tumblr media
As you turned the corner, you saw a shadow flitting along the high walls of the corridor and stopped abruptly; both the elegance and the speed of the retreating figure were highly unusual for a dwarf and, for a moment, you wondered who would be able to move so gracefully.
Shaking your head to dispel such useless musings, you made your way to Prince Kíli’s quarters to ask him if he would agree to accompany you on a dangerous trip that would lead you far out of the safe confines of the settlement. Kíli, you knew, often enjoyed a challenge and an adventure and you were growing increasingly fond of the idea of being alone with him in the woods for some time, far away from the vicious tattle-tales and the unceasing duties of court life.
“Sure,” Kíli exclaimed as soon as the question was put to him and, even if his cheeriness felt just a tad forced on this fine morning, you couldn’t help the surge of relief and joy flooding your system at this moment.
After he had packed hastily and sparsely, Kíli all but dragged you down the corridor to the library, a wicked sparkle in his eyes.
“What are we doing?” you asked for you had expected to leave as soon as possible.
“I know the best way to find a good spot where Óin’s blasted plant grows in abundance,” Kíli explained and extricated a long, flat piece of wood from a hidden crevice to wedge it under the door of a private office to lift it enough so it wouldn’t creak upon being swung open. “I thought we might amend one of Ori’s maps. He’s been complaining for months about that.”
With a wink, he went on, “Moreover, I don’t know if he’s told you, but the rotten growth has a terrible smell. We’re going to nab one of Fíli’s leather satchels; he gets tons of them as gifts from crafters and merchants who seek his patronage.”
You blinked slowly; far from believing your friend an idiot, you had nevertheless never expected him to be this knowledgeable about botany, geography, and the intricate workings of the court.
“People blab at me,” he smiled gently but not without a hint of bitter sharpness upon seeing your dumbfounded expression, “because they don’t think that I am listening. More often than not, they see me as a mere pebble, but I do listen.”
He tapped the side of his nose with a conspiratorial wink that did not fully dissimulate his frustration; he was a prince of the realm, the son of a wise dam, and the nephew of our present king after all, and his youth was by no means an excuse to disregard him so cavalierly as some dwarrows apparently were in the habit of doing.
Quickly and efficiently, Kíli snuck through cleverly veiled, secret passages into all the rooms he had meant to visit and soon, you were on your merry way to the hidden meadow he had in mind.
It flabbergasted you how he had managed to simply turn himself almost invisible; he usually radiated such intense joy and was surrounded by so bright a halo of laughter and jokes that his silent grace turned him into a lethal ghost, ducking effortlessly through the milling throng of busy dwarves who were just going about their day without paying either one of you any heed.
“Expertly done,” you praised, a little breathlessly, when he finally spread his arms out wide to draw your attention to the clearing overflowing with the rare medicinal herb you had set out to find.
“You’ll find that I am less of a fool than you might think,” he muttered dejectedly, combing one thick-fingered hand through his dark, wavy hair in dismay.
“I do not believe you to be any such thing,” you protested, “but I must admit that I am awed by how well you’ve planned and executed this mission. I might have spent days on end gathering enough of this truly distasteful plant without your valuable help.”
This made a generous grin blossom on his youthful face and – cupping your cheeks in his hands – he pressed a small kiss onto your nose as if to encourage it not to leap off your face in outrage and vexation.
“Let’s get this over with and spend the night in another spot I know well,” he chirped, back to his usual cheerful self. “I can show you more of my impressive skills that you might have overlooked in your single-minded admiration of my pretty face.” He grinned mischievously and started carefully and skilfully harvesting the abominably smelly leaves.
Laughing quietly, you followed him without answering but – deep within your heart – you admitted that you were more than just a little curious about what wonders and miracles he’d let you witness later that evening.
Tumblr media
I hope this has redeemed Kíli (and me, for I tend to write him as rather immature lol)
Lots of love from me <3

Pairing: Jake 'Hangman' Seresin x you
Summary: You're a violinist who got hired to play for the Christmas party Penny is having at The Hard Deck. During rehearsal, you get walked in on by a handsome Jake 'Hangman' Seresin. By the end of the night, you may be something more to him.
Warnings: None! This is just Christmas fluff that, literally, just popped into my head, so I'm giving you guys a bonus story for the holidays! Enjoy!
Tumblr media
"The piano is right over there," Penny Benjamin said as you and your piano accompanier, Nate, followed her into her bar The Hard Deck.
You looked around at all the Christmas decorations that decorated the place.
"This is perfect!" You say as you look at Nate and then back to Penny. "Can we rehearse right now?"
"Of course! I'll be in the back if you need anything." She walked through a set of double doors.
"Let's get set up." You take out your violin and Nate sets up his electronic keyboard. "Ready for tuning." You say and Nate presses the 'A' key on the piano, and you start tuning. When you finish, you look at him. "What should we warm up with?
"How about Snow Waltz?"
You smile. "Oh, you're really trying to warm me up, aren't you?"
Nate grins. "I know it's your favorite."
"Let's do it!"

Tumblr media
Lieutenant Jake 'Hangman' Seresin parked outside of The Hard Deck and started walking towards the entrance door. He was just about to open the door when he heard violin music. A puzzled look came over his face.
Tumblr media
It was beautiful. He'd never heard such music played like that before. He opened the door and quietly walked in. A man sat behind an electric piano and a young woman played a violin as she danced around the open floor. Jake stopped and leaned against the wall and watched as she danced around: beautifully, gracefully. How she managed to dance as well as play her violin amazed him.
When she finished, she ended gracefully, and Jake couldn't help but applaud.
Tumblr media
The applause took you out of your music zone and you looked at where it was coming from.
Tumblr media
A man in a Navy khaki uniform, with dirty blond hair and piercing green eyes, stood at the entrance you had just walked in only ten minutes before.
"I didn't mean to startle you. That was magnificent," he said with a sexy southern drawl as he walked towards you.
"Thank you," you said, awkwardly shyly, which wasn't like you.
Nate stood up. "I'm going to run to the bathroom real quick."
You looked at him. "Okay."
Nate left and you were left with the blond.
He put out his hand. "I'm Hangman."
You took it. "Hangman?"
"It's my call sign."
"Oh." You said with a confused look.
"I'm a fighter pilot. A naval aviator."
"Oh! You fly Navy planes."
He smiles. "Yeah." He continues looking at you as your hands still awkwardly shake.
You pull your hand away. "I'm Y/N."
"It's nice to meet you."
The doors to the back of the bar open and Penny comes out. "Oh, Hangman! You're here."
Jake finally broke his gaze from you and looked at Penny. "Mav asked if this should be enough." He handed her a list and she looked at it.
"This should be plenty. Thank you." Penny looked at you. "I see you met, Y/N. She's playing for the party tonight."
"I did. Even got a bit of her performance."
You blushed slightly. "That's not the performance. That was just how I warm up."
Jake smiled. "Well, Y/N. It was nice to meet you. I'll see you later."
You watch him leave as Nate comes back and you turn to him. "Ready for the next one?"
Tumblr media
Later that night, Jake walked into the bar with his best friend Javy 'Coyote' Machado.
"Wait until you hear her play!" Jake said excitedly.
Coyote smiled. "You never get this excited over a person, let alone, music."
"And the way she danced and played at the same time," he explained as he opened the door.
Tumblr media
You stood next to the piano playing Sleigh Ride when you saw him walk in with another guy in a Navy khaki uniform. You saw him glance at you, but you quickly put yourself back into your music. When you finished, you looked at Nate.
"Break?"
"Sounds good to me."
"Ladies and gentlemen. We're going to take a quick 15-minute break." You announce to the crowd. You set your violin in the case and walk over to the bar where Penny is serving.
"You are wonderfully talented, Y/N," she says as she hands you a glass of water.
"Thank you," you respond and drink the water. You feel someone walk up behind you.
"Do you take requests?" a southern male voice you recognized asks.
Tumblr media
You turn and look at Hangman who's with the guy he walked in with drinking a beer.
"Sure. What song do you have in mind?"
"I don't know the name of it. The one you played when I saw you earlier."
You grin. "That's my warmup Christmas song. It's called Snow Waltz."
He takes a sip of his beer and grins at you. "Snow Waltz. With your dancing."
"I normally don't dance."
"You should."
"What's in it for me?"
His eyes twinkled as he grinned this time and he pulls out his wallet. "Here's fifty bucks from me." He hands it to Penny.
The pilot behind him does the same. "Me too." He also hands Penny some money and then some other pilots do the same.
"Is this it?" Penny asks. A few more pilots who heard the conversation handed Penny some money. "Anymore?" No one else handed Penny any so she counted it. "There's one thousand dollars here."
You look directly into Hangman's green eyes. "You're on." You walk back over to the piano where Nate sat back down and looked at him. "We'll be doing Snow Waltz."
Nate looked at you surprised. "Really?"
"Yup. We've got a thousand dollars riding on this."
"So, just the song?"
"Nope. Like I always rehearse."
Nate straightened up. "Alrighty then."
"Ladies and gentlemen. If I may have your attention!" You yell over the noise. "A Christmas song that a friend of mine created is going to be played next." You look at the people to the left of you. "I just need a little room please."
The crowed cleared a nice sized space for you.
"That's perfect. Thank you." You turn back to the room. "The song I'll be playing is called Snow Waltz. I usually only play it as a warmup, but it has been requested. I hope you enjoy it." You looked at Nate and you started to play and dance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the bar cleared out around 2 am, you and Nate packed up and Penny walked up to you.
"You need to play that Snow Waltz more often. You were the talk of the night." She handed you a check and the money from Hangman's bet. "Here you go."
You took it. "Thank you." You looked at Nate. "You ready?"
"Whenever you are."
You walked to the front door of the bar and walked out. When you did, you saw Hangman leaning against a Jeep looking at you as soon as you walked out.
Nate looks at you. "You going to be okay?"
"I'll be fine. Thanks, Nate. Have a good night."
Nate walks away and you walk towards Hangman. "You been waiting long?"
Tumblr media
He smiles. "Long enough."
You smile. "So, what can I do for you, Lieutenant?"
He grins. "Oh. You're catching on now?"
"I learned a bit in the bar tonight."
Tumblr media
There was brief silence as he looks at you. "I have two more holiday request," he states.
"What is that?"
"The first one is go out on a date with me."
You smile. "I would, but I don't know your name. Just your call sign."
"My name is Jake. Jake 'Hangman' Seresin."
"Nice to meet you, Jake 'Hangman' Seresin. I'm Y/F/N."
He steps closer to you. Just inches away.
"And your second request, Jake 'Hangman' Seresin?"
"Can I kiss you?"
You grin. "Yes, Jake 'Hangman' Seresin. You can kiss me."
He reaches out, placing his hand on the side of your face and pulls you to him as he crashes his mouth onto yours.
Tumblr media
Hope you enjoyed this story!!

An Unforgettable Summer (Good Guys Don't Date Bad Boys Bonus Story, Patreon Exclusive) - Ch. 1 - excerpt
My patrons pitched in with suggestions for a special, Patreon-exclusive bonus story featuring Maddox and Jonathan, taking place in the summer before senior year, and this is the result :)
Below you will find an excerpt, and the whole story can be read on Patreon.
Chapter One – Can Trips With Parents Be Any Fun?
Maddox couldn’t stop smiling, phone in his hand, scrolling through the messages Jonathan had sent him over the last few hours they had been apart. It wasn’t in his nature to feel conflicted, and he always loved to see his family, but this time around he couldn’t wait to say goodbye to them and get back with his boyfriend. He really didn’t get how some people said that couples grew apart from too much familiarity, too much time spent together and all that. At the moment at least, he felt like there would never be enough. What was he even thinking? He couldn’t picture a time and place when he would have had too much of Jonathan.
And he had his parents’ example. His mom and dad even worked together, and that said a lot. Maddox doubted he and Jonathan would work in the same place, since their majors were different, but for sure they would spend all the time they could in each other’s presence, once they were married and had jobs to go to every day.
Definitely, he was getting ahead of himself thinking about all those things that were far in the future for now. They had senior year and, of course, their summer break, which he could barely wait to start properly.
He took one deep breath before entering the house. Over the phone, his mom had seemed all right with him spending so much of his summer vacation together with Jonathan’s family, but that didn’t mean that she had let it all sink in. Being away for college was one thing, but being away on summer break was not the norm. Plus, he would have to break it to Vern that he wouldn’t be able to help out all through the summer like usual.
His parents were in the kitchen when he entered, seemingly in deep conversation over something.
“Wow, no warm welcome for your favorite son?” he said loudly, taking them both by surprise.
His mom’s face lit up with a smile and she jumped up from the chair to come and hug him. “You’re a little early, pumpkin.”
“I don’t think so.” Maddox checked his phone for the time, but also to see if Jonathan had sent another cute message during the last ten minutes. “What were you guys whispering about, like a coven of witches?”
His dad shrugged, with a slightly guilty look on his face, then stole a glance at his spouse. Maddox didn’t miss how his mom stared back and pursed her lips.
“What?” he asked. “What’s the big secret?”
“Your mom and I--” his dad started.
“Not yet,” his mom cut short whatever her husband wanted to say. “How long are you going to be home?”
“Several days,” Maddox replied. “Jonathan told me that his parents are organizing a short trip to Europe, and they’re taking us.”
Another look exchanged between his parents made him narrow his eyes. “Come on, people,” he groaned.
“Not people,” his mom warned him. “Mom and dad. Dear mom and dad.”
“All right, dear mom and dad who don’t think they’re people,” he said, “what’s the big idea? What aren’t you telling me? Ah, you’re going to tell me that I can’t go to Europe.” Well, that was a bummer, but he could suggest to Jonathan that they remain at the estate while his parents were away, or travel around the country. They could even do some hiking and camping. Yeah, that might be a lot more fun than some boring trip to Europe. Maddox had never been out of the country, but something told him that a visit to the old continent was something people did when they wanted to pretend to be cultured or some shit. Yeah, camping with Jonathan somewhere in the woods could lead to a lot of pleasant times.
His mom interrupted his wide-eyed fantasies. “Why would we tell you that? You’re obviously going to Europe.”
“And us,” his dad said.
That gave Maddox pause. “What? Where is that coming from? Since when are you the kind to travel overseas?” Their family vacations usually involved cheap but lots of fun trips within the borders, so to speak.
“David,” his mom said, pursing her lips tightly. “What did I tell you?”
“Come on, Flo, you’re dying to go,” his dad retorted. “The Hamiltons called to invite us to come along on this trip.”
Maddox rubbed his chin to put his jaw back where it belonged.
“All expenses paid,” his dad added. “I don’t think I’ve ever had a stranger conversation over the phone in my life.”
“Stranger how?” Maddox asked. Oh, gawd, they were going on vacation with two sets of parents. They wouldn’t be able to move a finger, without everything being caught by so many pairs of hawk-like eyes, his mom as the leader. Hopefully, it wasn’t planned as a long trip, so they wouldn’t have to endure that kind of control for their entire summer break. Fuck, Europe sounded damn boring already.
“Well, Francine,” his dad explained, “that’s Jonathan’s mom--”
“I know,” Maddox said quickly, wanting his parents to get to the crux of the matter already.
“She was very apologetic about interfering with any vacation plans we might have--” his dad continued.
“Like there could be something better than going to France,” his mom said, incapable of postponing her own interjections any longer.
“So, wait, did you say yes?” Maddox asked.
His dad forced himself to hide a smile, but his eyes were already laughing. “Sure we said yes. Francine made us an offer we couldn’t refuse. And your mom here, I swear, she started to dance around the kitchen, just imagining herself in the city of love, as we have heard people call Paris.”
His mom punched her husband in the shoulder. “Stop twisting the truth, dear. Pumpkin, we were waiting for you so we could ask you if you are all right with us coming along.”
By how his mom’s eyes were shining, he could tell what the right answer would be. His mom had the best intentions, but he didn’t want Jonathan’s parents to become scared of her and say ‘no’ when the question of he and Jonathan getting married popped up, eventually. Hell, if that happened, they’d just elope.
“Yeah, sure, if you want,” he said.
His mom frowned. “I can see that you’re very enthusiastic.”
“They’re young. I bet they’re not crazy about going on vacation with their parents,” his dad intervened to placate his wife.
“Guys, I mean mom and dad dearest,” Maddox said, “it’s totally fine.”
But his mom wasn’t about to let that drop so easily. “Do you think we’re going to embarrass you, pumpkin?” That endearing term had never sounded so menacing in anyone’s mouth in the history of terms of endearment.
“What? Where did that come from?” he asked, obviously surprised. “No, not at all.”
“But the Hamiltons are here,” his mom gestured in the air above her head, “and we --”
“You’re not seriously saying that,” Maddox said with a groan. “Hey, if they invited you, obviously they want to get to know you, and I don’t think the difference in how much money they and you have is the main topic here anyway.”
“But they offered to pay for everything,” his mom pointed out.
“Francine did so in a very delicate manner,” his dad intervened. “She said that she needed to hear a yes from us.”
“That woman does have a way with words,” his mom admitted. “She sure acted like she wouldn’t take no for an answer.”
Maddox could tell that his parents must have been quite bewildered by their talk over the phone with Francine Hamilton. “Yeah, she can be pretty scary,” he said.
“Scary?” His mom and dad looked at each other, surprised, like that would be the last word to cross their minds to describe Francine Hamilton. “That’s no way to talk about your future mother-in-law, Maddox.”
Oh, no, he had stepped on something, if he was called by his name and particularly in that manner, like each letter weighed a ton.
“Now, that we have our son’s blessing to go on vacation with him and his boyfriend’s family, don’t you think you have a lot of things to get ready, dear?” his dad asked his wife.
That seemed to propel her into action. “Yes, like a thousand. Oh, boy, the Kingsleys are going to Europe,” she said with a big smile and rushed out of the kitchen. For a moment only, she stopped, and gave Maddox a kiss on the cheek.
Maddox remained there, a bit dumbfounded. “What’s all that about?” he asked, once he was alone with his dad.
“Your mom’s been in quite the mood ever since we received that invitation,” his dad explained.
“Wait, Jonathan barely messaged me about the trip to Europe. When did you guys get the phone call from Jonathan’s mom?”
“Oh, a couple of days ago, and from that instant we haven’t had a moment of peace around here. Let me tell you,” his dad said in a conspiratorial voice, “I sort of gotten tired of eating burned food, but I haven’t got the guts to tell your mom anything. She’s over the moon about this trip.”
“So, did you tell Francine yes?”
“Your mom must have forgotten that we needed to confirm.”
“But why wait?” Maddox asked, quite puzzled. “If you guys want to come, too, just say so.”
His dad gave him a warm smile. “As I said, your mom has been in quite the mood. First, she was happy. Then, she worried. Then, she worried some more. And eventually, she almost cried, while fearing you might feel embarrassed by us if we come.”
“Cried? I hope she didn’t cry over something like that. And I’m sure this trip is going to be uber boring,” Maddox said.
“Boring?” his dad asked, quirking an eyebrow.
“Yeah, I mean, I suppose that we’re going to go to museums and operas and stuff like that.”
His dad made a face. It looked like at least one of his parents was starting to think the same as he did.
“I’ll have to sneak out with Jonathan--” Maddox clamped his mouth shut.
“Sneak out?” His dad narrowed his eyes. “You’re going to ditch us while I’m falling asleep at some opera?”
“Oops, sorry, dad,” Maddox said with a strained smile.
To his surprise, his dad just shook his head and laughed. “That was what you were worried about earlier, right? That we’d keep our eyes on you all the time.”
“Well, kind of.” His dad could see through him like he was made of glass.
“Then, you can rest assured that I’ll divert your mom’s attention so that you two boys can have your fun. And I don’t know about Jonathan’s parents, but I bet that I can be clever enough to divert their attention from you, as well. Although, Jonathan’s mom sounds like a formidable woman. Don’t let your mom know I said that.”
“And risk becoming fatherless? I’d never,” Maddox vowed and made a quick cross over his chest. “For real, though, don’t even think that I’d ever be embarrassed of the two of you. For me, you’re the most awesome parents on the face of the earth.”
“Because we’re yours.”
“Clearly. Still, I bet that a lot of guys and girls my age would like to have as cool parents as I do.”
His dad smiled and nodded, pleased with his reply. “How are Jonathan’s parents?” he asked. “Your mom may be busy choosing our wardrobe and whatnot, but I’d like to get ready in other ways.”
“Well, they have always been very strict with Jonathan, forcing him to learn French and how to ride a horse--”
“Riding a horse sounds like fun. The other thing, not so much,” his dad admitted, mirroring exactly what he was thinking.
“However, I need to tell you that they met Rusty--”
“Right, he was with you on that Christmas trip.”
“Yeah. He made quite the impression on them. So, nothing from my part of the world, so to speak, can shock them in any way.”
“What impression did you make on them?” his dad asked, taking him slightly by surprise.
“I like to think a good one. You saw that stack of books I came home with, right?”
“Scary thing,” his dad admitted. While he was clever and witty, his dad was not the kind to spend all day with his nose buried in books. He was the kind of person who was happiest when he was doing things with his hands. “But don’t be worried, son. You only need Jonathan to like you. If his parents aren’t crazy about you, that’s something you can live with.”
“Was that like a piece of fatherly advice?” Maddox asked.
“Yeah, you can consider it so. Nonetheless, rest assured that your mom and I will do our best to make a good impression on the Hamiltons. We might not come from money, but how impressed can someone be with good ol’ Europe?”
Oh, no, Maddox thought as he saw his dad’s somewhat strained smile. His dad might be worrying about the trip but in different ways than his mom.
“As I told you, I think it’s going to be a chore since it must be really boring,” Maddox said.
His dad shrugged. “That only means that I need to think of ways to keep the Hamiltons entertained. And your mom away from you boys so that she doesn’t end up suffocating you. By the way, she mostly is joking when she talks about you getting married to Jonathan, but she’s also serious. She might be reading a little bit too much into this invitation.”
“I’m not completely sure. As far as Jonathan’s mom and dad are concerned, I’m committed already. So, it’s nothing short of being practically engaged. Oh, damn, I haven’t actually asked you, have I? Are you okay with me and Jonathan, you know, getting married?”
His dad stood and moved around the table. He patted Maddox on the back and looked him in the eyes. “We are both very proud of you, son. You do well in school, you look like you’re going to have a brilliant career in front of you, and your choice of a partner shows that you took the best from both of us.”
“What’s that?” Maddox asked with a grin. “The ability to pursue someone until they can’t say no anymore?”
“That’s one way of naming it, sure. No, what I mean is the ability to choose the right one.”
Maddox blinked a couple of times. “Thanks, dad,” he said. “He is the right one.”
“Then, all the rest, this boring trip, as you call it, is nothing. I’m sure the two of you will have fun, no matter what you do. And your mom is beyond happy to be visiting Europe, which means that I’m happy, too.”
“We’re not only going to France. I think Jonathan mentioned at least Italy and Greece.”
His dad nodded. “Good. There’s at least cheese and wine in France. I’d like to go to a soccer game in Italy. I might drag the Hamiltons to one of those.”
“Good luck with that, but, hey, I have great faith in you, dad.”
His dad laughed. “Thanks, son. As for Greece, I’ve heard plenty about their beaches.”
Beaches. Ah, well, that sounded like fun, Maddox thought. “Totally. So you guys are going to be fine?”
“We’ll do our best. And you know what Kingsleys’ best means, right?”
“Sure thing I do. Maybe I should also do some research on cool activities to do while we’re in Europe.” And especially, the beaches. Maybe they’d find a secluded spot and he could convince Jonathan to get rid of everything, just to see his skin getting all golden all over. That was enough to put a smile on his face.
His dad patted him on the back. “I can see that you’re already in better spirits. Go rest a little. You deserve it after working hard for an entire year.”
“Thanks, dad, you’re the absolute best,” Maddox said. “Um, can you make sure mom doesn’t burn the food this time? I’m starving.”
“To be completely sure,” his dad said, “I’m going to throw together an omelet. This way, none of us will have to suffer.”
“Good plan, dad,” Maddox confirmed while he hiked his luggage over his shoulder and headed toward his room.

“Happiness isn't something to carefully measure out in spoonfuls as though it's medicine,” she said. “I don't need you to suffer to prove your love, and I definitely don't need you to hide your suffering. I want to shoulder half our burden.”
“Love shouldn't mean shouldering what has naught to do with you,” he said.
“But it does,” she said. “This is what it means. That's exactly what it means.”

Ok so another story about the homophobic dude because he's so.. weird...
He saw some think lettering on an assignment that we were doing for social studies and he legit says, "These letters are as thick as Obama's wife!"
We all ignored him because we wanted to let him leave with his dignity but he wanted gratification.
A bit later he says, "No seriously, Obama's wife is super hot. I would smash her."
I look up at him and ask to please change the subject and he says, "What? I thought you were into that kinda thing."
Ok so he's wrong on several different levels
He refers to Michelle Obama as her husband's wife. Never throughout the conversation did he call her by her name.
He sees everyone ignoring him and decides to double down.
He thinks that because I like girls, I'm not uncomfortable with him talking about how he would bang a 50+ year old woman.
My dude really needs to chill

Hamefura bonus short story : First prince and his fiancée
I'm glad to finally see the kind of relationship Geoffrey and Susanna really have. I didn't do any translation for a while so I hope there aren't any mistakes.
As I, Larna Smith of the Ministry of Magic, real name Susanna Randall, finished reading the report and looked up to find my fiancé, Geoffrey Stuart, asleep on the couch across from me .
By the time I started reading the report, he was lying on the sofa and looking at the portraits of his beloved brothers, but it seems like he just fell asleep.
It's very late and he's probably tired because he's so busy. And since this is Jeffrey's room, he must be feeling a bit out of it. I got up and went to Geoffrey's side to put something on him.
Come to think of it, it's been a while since I've seen his sleeping face. I've been so busy lately that even if I saw him, I would often just hand him a report and we'd split up.
His face looks younger than usual as he sleeps peacefully. For some reason, I remembered the time when we met.
Geoffrey and I met over ten years ago. While I was still pretending to be a tool in front of my father, I was told that I would be engaged to the first prince.
I was already deep into the study of magic, had no interest in aristocratic events, and even left tea parties in the middle so my parents wouldn't find out, and I didn't even know the prince's face. However, I didn't want to become the prince's fiancée or something so troublesome.
I lied and said, ``I'll do my best,'' and asked for a meeting just the two of us. I had the courage to refuse the offer outright.
If things didn't go well, I wouldn't be able to escape my father's physical punishment, but I knew it was better than the trouble that would follow. Besides, if it didn't work out with me all I have to do is talk about the engagement with my other sister.
Then, my wish came true and we had a face-to-face meeting, almost just the two of us.
The person who appeared was a beautiful boy with silver hair and blue eyes, and although he was young, he greeted me with such graceful gestures that I was impressed.
I thought this was the kind of prince a young girl would have a crush on , but it didn't resonate with me.
My first priority is the study of magic, and my goal is to break off the engagement.
It hasn't been announced to the public yet, so I'm sure it'll work out somehow.
When I faced the prince, who introduced himself as Jeffrey Stuart, he greeted me with just a few words.
"I have no interest in anything other than magical research. I don't want to be a queen,"
I said flatly, without any hesitation.
Geoffrey froze, his eyes wide.
This would offend the prince and he would ask for the engagement to be called off. That's what I thought, but a little later, for some reason, Geoffrey chuckled. And...
``I have no interest in anyone other than my younger brothers. I have no intention of inheriting the throne either,'' he replied.
Now it was my turn to freeze in surprise. What is he talking about ? What is this prince saying ? Geoffrey said to me,
"We'd make a good team, wouldn't we ? I'm looking forward to working with you." He said and held out his hand to me.
I was confused and couldn't help but take his hand, and I still remember how Geoffrey smiled so brightly.
That was the beginning of my relationship with Geoffrey
After a lot of persuasion, I ended up becoming his fiancée. At first I was reluctant to accept it, but then he said to me, "I'm going to make it easier for you to study magic from now on." I was soon a collaborator in Geoffrey's plans.
Before I knew it, he had become my most reliable partner.
I gently covered Geoffrey with the blanket as he slept. He still has a lot of work to do.
“Still, relax and rest for a little while.”
I said as I gently stroked his silver hair.

★★★★★★
When I, Geoffrey Stuart, opened my eyes, I saw the familiar ceiling of my room. Apparently I was looking at the portraits of my younger brothers and fell asleep on the sofa.
My body is covered with a blanket. Her maid was wearing it, so Susanna must have put it on for me. Susanna had probably finished reading the report and left, and was nowhere to be seen.
I realised that it was already around midnight. I picked up the blanket and headed towards the bed to rest, but someone else was using it first.
"Hey, hey, Susanna. Don't take other people's beds," I couldn't help but whisper.
My fiancée, Susanna Randall, was sleeping soundly in my bed. It was probably too much trouble for her to go home. She has such a rough personality.
Moreover, it was surprising that she covered someone else with a blanket but didn't cover herself with anything.
Her sleepy face is full of sex appeal, and if she wasn't the owner of this bed, she would be in various dangers. There is a limit to being defenseless.
"You haven't changed at all, haven't you ?"
The first time I met Susanna was over ten years ago. A servant told me that my fiancée had been decided.
The other party was said to be a daughter of the Marquis Randall family, a high-ranking member of my faction. I had heard that Marquis Randall was quite ambitious and quite a person, but I could hardly find any information about his daughter.
From my standpoint, there's no way I can refuse the engagement. For now, I thought I'd just play the good prince and get along with him at least on the surface.
On the day of the meeting, she requested, ``If possible, I would like to meet alone.''
When I heard that, I thought that maybe she admired me.
At children's tea parties, I often wear a fake mask and get around, so many girls look at me enthusiastically. I thought that the daughter of the Randall family was one of those children.
When I met Susanna Randall, he found her to be a beautiful girl with a mature demeanor.
Hmmm. I don't think I've ever seen her at a tea party before, but for now I'll play the role of a girl's ideal prince. I thought so and greeted her with elegant gestures, but instead of looking excited, Susanna kept a straight face.
Hmm, her reaction was different from what I had expected. I thought so.
Susanna looked straight at me and declared ,
``I have no interest in anything other than magical research. I don't want a to be a queen.''
I couldn't help but freeze at the sudden and unexpected answer.
I thought she was a common lady, but she turned out to be quite interesting.
It's a waste if this is just a superficial relationship. Thinking so, I decided not to give in and reply with a punchy remark.
"I have no interest in anyone other than my younger brothers. I have no intention of inheriting the throne."
When I said that, Susanna froze.
I told her.
" We'd make a good team, wouldn't we ? I'm looking forward to working with you."
When I said this and held out my hand to her, she squeezed it back in an involuntary way.
I still remember how happy I was.
That was the beginning of my relationship with Susanna.
After that, I checked out her situation, made some good points about getting engaged, and we became officially engaged, She seemed reluctant at first, but then I said.
"I'm going to make it easier for you to study magic from now on".
And before I knew it, she had become my most reliable partner.
I occupied the bed and gently covered the sleeping Susanna with a blanket.
I then get on the other side of the bed and lie down myself.
"I'm glad you're my fiancée."
I said and gently stroked her black hair as she slept beside me.

Dearest Maalezzo, of course, I can write you a tiny thing for this :D
It's always my pleasure to write something for you...so, here we go...
Until the sun comes up

Words: 546
Warnings: none

“The weather is about to turn,” Kíli whispered as he led you down a narrow, hidden corridor that opened out into a gloomy, deserted hallway, “and they’ll be busy tying down everything that might just be blown away.”
Despite the very real danger he was describing, his small chuckle was bright and full of humour; for a moment, it seemed as if he was not overly worried about his people or their possessions, but then you noticed how forced and hollow his subdued laughter sounded as it echoed through the absolute silence of the corridor.
“I am not sure Fí has already gone down though,” he went on in the same hushed voice as he motioned to you to avoid the weak light the sconces threw onto the cold, dusty stone floor as you pressed on slowly. “Let’s be cautious.”
You felt like a proper criminal, allowing the young prince to smuggle you into his room after dark when there was a storm on its way that would keep most of the other dwarrows up and about for most of the night.
Just as you were resolved to protest and ask your lover to delay your Rendezvous until the worst had passed, he turned around and pressed a frenzied kiss, tasting  of passion and despair, onto your lips.
His hand was warm and solid in yours though as he pulled you towards a heavy door that – despite its somewhat decrepit appearance and against all odds – swung open noiselessly as soon as he pushed against it.
“I was quite frightened by storms as a lad,” he finally admitted sheepishly after having ushered you in resolutely, still whispering on account of the open door, and shot you a melting gaze full of trust and yearning over his shoulder.
He still didn’t like them, you could clearly see that, and this was the very reason he had asked you to sit up with him while the wind howled angrily, tearing through the settlement, leaving behind senseless destruction and terrible desolation.
“Hey,” you said softly, sitting down on his bed and starting to build a nest of blankets and furs, “we’ll be right as rain. I, for my part, have always loved a good rainstorm. It’s somewhat romantic, don’t you think?”
You beckoned him to you and, as he willingly dove into your embrace, you started humming an old lullaby, interrupting yourself whenever you were no longer sure of how it went on to press a pacifying kiss upon his fair brow.
His fingers slotted themselves against your wrist cautiously, a silent plea for connection and solace, and so you slid yours between his and held his hand gingerly.
Soon, the much-dreaded tempest raged outside the windows, rattling the shutters and screaming its rage, but you felt safe and happy as you rested on a soft mattress, your beloved prince dozing in your lap. He was still holding on to your hand for dear life and you had not stopped singing to him in a hushed, quiet voice.
You were not a warrior, you had never even seen battle, but this you could easily do; you would keep the dread at bay by pouring the light of your love onto his sleeping form so the darkness could never touch him.
