“I have some packages for…“ the delivery man paused to read over his receipts. “Rashaad Young?”
Confused, as Rashaad had thought his birthday has already ended, took the smaller packages inside anyway while the delivery man wheeled in the largest box inside the bar.
Rashaad picked up the smallest package first, which was hardly as long as his own forearm. Carefully tearing away the twine that held the package together, he found a small card nestling atop the gifts inside.
Casting aside the card, Rashaad found four small glass vials, containing syrups in various colors and each labeled with black, delicate yet intricate penmanship. One vial was labeled “chamomile syrup,” another as “rose syrup,” “hibiscus syrup,” and “elderflower syrup.”
Rashaad picked up the card again and quickly read over it.
“To: Rashaad Young
Hey, Happy Birthday. As thanks for looking after my teammate and leader, I took a few days to whip up these syrups with my own flowers. Use them however you want with your drinks. Enjoy your birthday.
From,
Miku Shirazuki”
He moved to the second largest. Inside the box was an eagle statue made of stone and gold.
Tumblr media
Removing the statue from its box, he found a card placed at the bottom. There was no card, but rather, a simple greeting.
“Happy Birthday, my dude! Enjoy all the presents and have a Happy Birthday! These presents probably didn’t arrive on time for your birthday, but hey! It’s your birthday week, right? Have a good one!
— Reiaki”
Then that left the final present, which was even taller than him.
Tumblr media
Attached to the screen was a card, its contents all printed, rather than handwritten.
“Greetings,
I hear it is your birthday today. A wondrous Happy Birthday to you, my dear.
You’ve done well in providing your services for my staff and I. My stage presence alone should be enough of a ‘thank you.’ However, it is only right that I be even more generous and bestow something gracious for you. It is a jukebox, however, the sound system is far more advanced and I constructed it using modern technology. You’ll find an instruction manual on the back of this card. Do be careful and take care to enjoy your special week to the fullest, my subject.
Regards,
Her Majesty, The Queen Card”
Approximately two hours had passed since gifts from the Minato team had arrived. During that time, Rashaad had: organized the bottles Miku had sent him, found a good place to plant the eagle head from Reiaki on the roof of his bar, and had managed to, somehow or other, set up his brand new jukebox. Truthfully, he was a little skeptical to replace the old one, especially since it still worked. Truthfully, it was a gift from his old master and he didn't feel like just living it in his storage room to collect dust. So, with some help from Ace, he managed to lug it upstairs to his room, where Rashaad could enjoy it all for himself.
Taking a look around his bar, Rashaad could barely recognize it due to how much stuff had been given to him the past few days for his birthday. New silverware, new scented candles, new glasses, a new pool table, which, despite being only a day or so old, was already well-used, some new records, and now a new jukebox. It's moments like these that made Rashaad really happy he was a bar owner. How else could he meet such fascinating people?
Thank you for the gift!

It was only a few minutes past midnight when Kureha received a knock on her door. She sighed as she knew that this was just the beginning of a number of times that she was going to have to stop what she was doing and get up to answer the doorbell. She wasn't particularly bothered by the fact that it was past midnight, but she hated when she was interrupted while she was painting; it ruined her whole buzz, and it was hard to get it back.
Checking the peephole, she saw no one present, so she opened the door and heard a 'clunk' as something fell down on the ground, surprising her. Looking down, she saw that it was a box, fit enough for a bottle. Picking it up, she looked at it, before closing the front door and bringing it in the kitchen. Opening the box, she looked at what was inside.
Tumblr media
It was a bottle of wine that was called 'Eclipse'. How fitting, considering that was both her MC and artist name. Inside the box was a letter, which she picked up and read:
'Dear Miss Koizumi,
Let me start off by wishing you both a 'happy birthday' and a 'very merry Christmas'. I hope this bottle of wine I sent you will make a good gift. I found it whilst browsing a wine catalogue a few days ago, and thought that it would make a very good gift for you. I hope that you will enjoy it. Again, I hope you enjoy the rest of your birthday. And I look forward to seeing you at Eagle's Nest again.
Sincerely,
Rashaad Young'.
Kureha smiled at the note and looked at the bottle of wine Rashaad gave her in her hands, while it’s known that she doesn’t drink a lot, at least not as much as Lola, there were times where the bluenette could enjoy an alcoholic beverage or two, and that’s mainly due to the aforementioned model. Snorting a bit at the name of the wine, how amusing but the logo looks cool, she thought as she opened her kitchen cabinet to retrieve those wine glasses Lola gifted her last Christmas.
Speaking of which, the artist decided to call her, knowing that she’ll agree to hang out with her due to that one, there was alcohol involved and two, apparently her penthouse was going through some “renovations” so she would be staying somewhere else for the time being, while Kureha didn’t know and didn’t want to know the specific details on why, she couldn’t deny the opportunity to spend time with her dearest and closet friend.
Thank you for the gift!

It was already night when the doorbell to the Kuromiya's house rung again for, perhaps, the umpth time today. Sighing, Yuriko ceased helping Kanra make dinner and walked to the door. Peeping out the hole, she looked as it was a delivery man holding a box, which seemed to fit a bottle of liquor. Opening the door, the deliveryman greeted the white-haired woman with all the pleasantness and professionalism of a service person. Thanking them, the matriarch took the box and walked back inside.
"Another gift, Yuriko?" Kanra asked, with Yuriko responding with a nod.
Opening the box, her eyes grew wide as it was indeed a bottle of liquor, though not one that she had ever seen before.
Tumblr media
It was apparently a bottle of tequila named after her well-known moniker, 'Black Dahlia'. Though she had never heard or seen this type of liquor before, she had to admit, it certainly looked appealing enough to drink. Hidden underneath the box of liquor was a letter addressed to her.
'Dear Miss Kuromiya,
A very happy birthday to you. I hope you are enjoying it thoroughly. When I heard your birthday was coming up, I knew I had to send you a gift, so I searched high and low for a good sort of liquor to send you. My friend Luis over in Aoyama recommended a type of tequila named 'Black Dahlia'. He felt it would be fitting of you, and he has never steered me wrong. He also said it was well-received in Mexico where it was created. It took a bit of work, but I was able to procure a bottle for you. I hope you enjoy it. If you do, please let me know so I can see about making it a regular at the Eagle's Nest. Again, I hope you are enjoying your birthday, and I wish you many, many more.
Sincerely,
Rashaad Young'
“Oh we’re getting lit tonight!” Kaoru cheered as she saw the booze. Yuriko rolled her eyes at that suggestion.
“No one is getting “lit” tonight, Kaoru.”
“Booooo. Not with that attitude we're not. Come on, Yuriko. It’s your birthday today, live a little.”
“You can have one glass of it, Kaoru, but no more.”
“You just don’t want “Drunk Yuriko” to come out, do you?” Kaoru accused.
Yuriko threw a deadpan look at Kaoru. “May I remind you that the last time I got drunk, Kanra had to restrain me after I nearly choked to death that bastard Amayado?”
“And? The man has long had it coming. His sleazy ass was caught so off guard. It was hilarious.” Kaoru snorted. “I know Ichiro was laughing a whole bunch when he saw the video. Hell, I know a bunch of the other divisions would even cheer you on.”
“Has anyone ever told you that you have an outstanding lack of empathy at times, Kaoru?”
“Vaguely why?”
“Just checking. Now, do you want a drink or not?”
“Hell yeah!”
Thank you for the gift!

It was nearing midnight when the doorbell to the Kōkyū residence rung out. Luis was still awake, though he was preparing to head off to bed since he had a busy day at work tomorrow. He could only imagine what mess his employees had left for him on his day off. But upon hearing the doorbell ring, he groaned as he stopped what he was doing and headed for the entrance. He was thankful his grandmother didn't hear it, but then again, she always was a bit of a hard sleeper.
Opening the door, he frowned as there was no one present, but looked as there was a package at the foot of the door, addressed to him. Reaching down, he could feel that something was inside, and it wasn't light either. Closing the front door, he walked into the kitchen, setting the package on the table. Grabbing a spare knife, he cut open the box and peered inside.
Tumblr media
The chef's eyes grew large as it was a bottle of Jose Cuervo. Not just any regular Jose, however. This was a 250th Anniversary bottle! Luis wasn't a liquor expert like his friend, Rashaad, but even he knew that this bottle wasn't cheap. Speaking of Rashaad, the chef looked as a letter was attached to the outside of the box, written in the bartender's handwriting:
"Happy birthday, Luis! My apologies for sending this to you so late, but I had trouble finding it in my backroom. One day, I'll get around to cleaning that place up. But anyway, I know you mentioned you wanted to try this particular brand, so I saved it up till now for you. Hope you enjoy, pal! And happy birthday again!
Sincerely, Rashaad."
"Damn it, Rashaad," Luis thought as he looked at the bottle of liquor, his mouth already watering as he wondered how the beverage tasted. "You couldn't have sent this to me earlier? You had to deliver right before I was about to go to sleep?"
The chef knew if he drunk one glass of this stuff now, he wasn't going to stop at just one glass. But it was already late, and he had to be up for 5 in the morning to open up his restaurant. Weighing the pros and cons of his decision, Luis eventually gave in to temptation and grabbed a glass out of one of the kitchen cabinets. Popping open the bottle, the aroma of the liquor filled his nostrils, and he hastily poured the beverage into his glass.
Taking the leap, he quickly downed the liquor, letting the burn hit his throat while the flavors passed through his mouth. He felt his eyes water, but he wasn't crying. As he looked at his now empty glass, he looked back at his still full bottle of Jose. Even though he knew he shouldn't, he poured another glass. As he did only one thought passed his mind.
"Rashaad, you are going to pay for this, my friend."

It was early afternoon when a certain former cheerleader picked up Kyler from his job at the police station. Beside her was her boyfriend, who had a small, yet still viewable smirk on his face. The reason: because of a white cloth that he used to disable the CIA operative's vision. Normally, he would have refused, but after Evelyn insisted, he begrudgingly cooperated.
"I hope you know I'm only doing this because of Evelyn. Under ordinary circumstances, I'd never let anyone blindfold me like this. ...Especially you of all people, Ace."
"Oh, I know. That's why I'm choosing to enjoy this as long as I can."
Kyler grunted as he could practically feel and see the shit-eating grin on his friendly rival's face. Being led from behind by Evelyn, he stopped as she placed his hands on his shoulders and was told to 'watch his head'. Bending down, he could feel himself getting inside a vehicle. He could only surmise that Ace was the one driving since he couldn't recall Evelyn ever driving anywhere. Did she even have a license for that matter?
But those thoughts ended as he could feel the car start and drive on. He sighed as he heard some cheesy pop song and heard Evelyn singing to it. As he sat there in the back seat, he could feel his eyelids getting itchy, no doubt due to the cloth covering his eyes.
"Hey, can I take this blindfold off now?"
"No."
"No!"
Kyler sighed once more, though he didn't know what other answer he was expecting.
"Well, can you at least tell me where we're going?"
"If we did that Kylie, it'd, like, ruin the surprise!"
"Yeah, but still..."
"Cool your jets, birthday boy. You'll see when we get there. Just sit back and enjoy the ride."
"Tch, if it's you driving, I'd be better off taking my chances walking."
"You want to? Cause I can stop the car. It's no trouble, whatsoever."
"Yes, please do."
"Hey!"
At this, both men felt one of their ears being pulled tightly, as if they had reverted back to their childhood.
"Ah!"
"No fighting! Not, like, today! It's Kyler's birthday, Acey. So, be nice!"
"Ugh, yeah, yeah."
Rubbing both of their ears, the two men chose to just keep quiet, while their female compatriot continued singing along with the radio. It was approximately a 45-minute long drive until the car finally slowed to a stop.
"We're here!"
Hearing the back door open, Kyler carefully stepped out of the car, being guided by Evelyn.
"Yes, but... where is here?"
Kyler could smell and hear the ocean, so he could only surmise that he was near the beach. And if he was a betting man, he could only educate that he and his friends were now in Okinawa.
"Stay here, okay? I gotta go make sure everything is, like, set up!"
Before he could say anything, he heard a pamper of feet getting further off in the distance, meaning he was alone with just his "oh-so-good friend" Ace, still blindfolded.
"So you are going to let me in on what this big surprise is exactly?"
"There's a reason it's called a 'surprise'., birthday boy."
"Well, can I, at least, take this stupid blindfold off now? I already know that we're in Okinawa."
"Hey, feel free to take it off. But if Evelyn gets upset at you, don't look to me for help."
Grumbling, the CIA official stood there his arms crossed. He could feel Ace standing somewhere around him, but the diplomat was silently playing with his phone, not paying his childhood rival much attention. They stood like that for up to three minutes until Kyler heard a slight vibrating sound close to him. He then felt Ace's car shake as the American ambassador hopped off of it.
"Alright, Evee says she's ready. Follow me."
...
"...Well?"
"How do you expect me to follow you when I can't see, genius?"
"Aren't you a CIA operative? Just put those handy skills of yours to use and follow my voice."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"...Ugh, fine. Give me your hand."
Though he really didn't want to, Kyler obeyed, holding his left hand out for Ace to take. With that, the diplomat led the operative to their 'secret' destination. After a brief walk, Ace told Kyler to 'stop' as he stepped away. The investigator heard the sound of a door opening and was once again led. He felt a rush of cool air hit him, which told him that he was inside a building. Feeling his hand being let go, Kyler then felt the bandana on his face come unloose. He was prepared to see light again, but to his surprise, it was dark even inside the building.
...That is, until Ace gave the 'thumbs-up' to someone, which prompted the lights to turn back on. As it did, the next thing Kyler heard was:
SURPRISE!!!
Kyler jumped back as he looked at a group of his friends and acquaintances all jumped out of their hiding places in Eagle's Nest. Namely: Evelyn, Rashaad, Joey, Wataru, and a few others from Kanazawa that he had worked with. Still surprised, Kyler looked as the bar was decorated with balloons, party planners, a banner with his name on it, and the piece de resistance, a birthday cake, which made the CIA operative shake his head with a grin.
He smiled as Joey continued singing 'Happy Birthday' until Wataru promptly told him to 'shut it'. He then looked as all the members of the Liberty Guild gifted him something for his birthday:
From Rashaad, it was a gold and black cigarette holder that made Kyler blink, surprised. Looking at it from all sides, he promptly thanked the bartender, promising to reciprocate.
From Evelyn, it was a watch with a thin blue line on it. Slipping it on, Kyler smiled as it was a perfect fit for his wrist. He promptly thanked his childhood friend, who gave him a small kiss on the cheek as thanks.
Lastly, the last gift was from Ace, which put Kyler on his guard, as he suspected something mean-spirited from the diplomat. Rolling his eyes, the American ambassador simply handed him his gift. Looking at it, Kyler, at first, thought it was a book of some sort. Upon opening it, he looked as it was a photo holder. But what made it even more special was that inside it was a picture of him and the most important person in his world, his finance, Roxanne. Though he came close to crying, he managed to hold it in, refusing to cry, especially in front of his rival. Giving him a 'thanks', he turned around, still staring at the picture of the love of his life.
...God, he missed her...
Kyler looked around as he took a bite from the piece of his birthday cake that had been nicely cut by Rashaad, his cheeks were staring to hurt from how long he had been smiling but honestly who wouldn’t? Granted he knew Evelyn was gonna pull something like this sooner or later but it still warmed his heart to know and see that his childhood friend still cares a great deal about him even after all the years that had passed.
He was also grateful for his new friends too and Ace but not as much, he shook his head fondly as he watched Joey wearing two party hats as horns on his head and trying to put a party hat on Wataru’s head, who looked like he was getting more annoyed by the second with Rashaad trying to keep the peace.
Truth be told, Kyler never thought he could end up like this. Surrounded by friends and people that cared about him, things were bad when he woke up from his coma and had gotten progressively worse afterwards, the blonde agent didn’t want to admit it but there had been times where he wanted to give up, that he couldn’t go on anymore…
But then he thought of parents, of Evelyn and his friends, of-
A buzzing sensation brought him out of his thoughts, fishing out his phone from his pocket, Kyler looked to see who exactly would be calling him before his eyes widen upon seeing the caller ID “Roxie ❤️”. Excusing himself and telling everyone he’ll be right back, Kyler headed towards the bathroom before answering the call.
“Happy Birthday, Kyler, baby! I love you!”
“I love you too Roxie, so much. Thank you.”
Thank you for the gift!

Though there were still a few hours left in the day, it was slowly winding down as Reika's birthday had only a few hours left before the entire city of Shizuoka would be filled with the colors of pink, red, white, and other lovey-dovey colors. Sighing, the woman in question, lied down on her sofa in her bathrobe, showing that she had just finished a relaxing, stress-free bath, which did wonders for her psyche. She felt nothing could ruin this moment.
Of course, she was proven wrong as the doorbell to the house rang out, making her frown. She normally would have a servant answer it, but she remembered she gave them all the night off for her birthday since she didn't want to be bothered. Sighing, she paused the show she was watching and reluctantly stood up from her sofa, walking to the door. She didn't care that she was in her robe. If anyone had a problem with it, they could take it up with her pet snake, Kiyohime, who was slithering behind her.
Peeping through the peephole, she looked as it was a delivery man, holding a box. Rolling her eyes, she opened the door and looked as the man smiled a fake smile.
"Package for Miss Aichi," he stated, holding a computer screen to sign, which she did. He then handed a wooden box to her, nodded, and walked off. She was somewhat surprised that he didn't bother doing anything perverted to her. Was the sight of her snake behind her the reason? Or was she, perhaps, losing her touch?
Shaking her head at such ludicrousness, she looked at the box in her hands and opened it as she looked at what was inside. Her eyes grew slightly wide at what was inside.
"A bottle of Romanee-St-Vivant?" Reika questioned, looking at it. It was shocking, to say the least. One bottle of this wine costs up to, at least, $4000, meaning it wasn't cheap. Of course, if she really wanted this, she could easily purchase it, or have her friend, Sakura, smuggle it for her. However, she never had cause to as she had plenty of other important things on her mind.
Looking at the bottle once more, it didn't have anyone's name on it, but a note on it simply read,
'Happy birthday from the Eagle's Nest.'
Reika set down the note and placed the bottle on the counter. While she usually preferred stronger liquor Reika could appreciate a good wine here and there. She couldn't help but wonder where was Rashaad hiding this? God knows how people would steal the bottle for a drink or to sell it. Perhaps she’ll ask Rashaad next time she went to the Eagle’s Nest. Pulling out her phone Reika dialed a number and placed it on speaker mode.
“Reika?”
“Oi Sakura. Go get Kanon and come over. I just got sent some good wine.”
“Kanon is gonna bitch about this.”
“Tell her I have some of those expensive raspberry-filled chocolates she likes. Oh, pack bags too.”
“Bags?”
“The two of you are spending the night. I have to make sure the two of you are presentable for tomorrow's gala. Kanon more so than you. It’s going to take forever to get rid of the scent of blood and chemicals clinging on to her.”
“Kanon is going to kill you the moment you try putting her in a dress.”
“That’s a problem for future me. So you coming or not?”
“Give me 30.”

It was only minutes until the end of the day and Rashaad’s birthday, said man was preparing for the rush hour. While most people wouldn’t rather work on their birthday, Rashaad didn’t really mind but that was a topic of conversation for another time, as of now, he was addressed by Ace who had come to give him the new of more gifts he had brought in from outside. Rashaad sighed, “Alright, who’s it from now?”
Ace shrugged, “No clue, they didn’t say.” The answer made the bartender pause and raise a brow before shrugging and sighing once more, he then walked to over where Ace had set down the presents, noticing that there were four in total with different colored wrapping paper, going from: pink, purple, yellow, and then finally, blue.
Tumblr media
Deciding to open up the pink present first, he noticed that it was semi-light and in a large square shape, inside he was pleasantly surprised to find a portrait of a coastal city, it was beautifully crafted and was even framed with a golden frame, along with the portrait was a letter.
‘Happy Birthday, Rashaad.
I know it’s been a while since we’ve talked, how are you? I hope life has been treating you well, I heard it was your birthday and I wanted to get you something, I thought about it and then it suddenly came to me, I remember you telling me that you were from Puerto Rico and that you sometimes miss it there so I thought that I would bring a peace of Puerto Rico to you hence this painting, I know it’s not as good as the real thing but I hope you like it, hopefully one day we can talk again, I really enjoy our chats. Happy birthday’
- Kureha.
Opening up the purple present which was small in size he noticed but it revealed to be a…figurine? Of a character that looked slightly similar to Rashaad, like the portrait, this one also came with a letter.
Tumblr media
‘Hey Shaad!
Happy birthday, dude! Man, I can’t believe a whole year has passed! How’s it feel to be a year older? Knowing you though, it probably doesn’t mean much but hey! At least you can enjoy being served instead of the one always serving people lmao, anyways I hope you like your gift! It’s a figurine of Agil from Sword Art Online! When I saw it I immediately thought of you and I just knew that I had to give it to you, it’s like having your own miniature twin! We should definitely watch some anime together but that’s a convo for another time, happy birthday man! You really deserve it for putting up with everyone’s shit!’
- Joey
Opening up the yellow gift, it is revealed to be a basketball themed shot drinking game, compete with little basketball themed shot glasses, like the other two gifts, this one also came with a letter.
Tumblr media
‘Happy Birthday, Rashaad.
I know you didn’t expect this but when Evelyn told me it was your birthday, I wanted to get you something, I know what you’re gonna say: you didn’t have to but you’ve been friendly since the day we’ve met not to mention that you’ve been a great help in our investigations that it would just feel wrong not to get you something even as small as this. I heard that you like basketball and combined with your passion for making drinks, I figured this would be something you would enjoy or maybe you can use it for your patrons, it’s your gift. Anyways, happy birthday.’
- Kyler
Opening the blue and final present, it was revealed to be a 1920 jazz record by famous musician, Louis Armstrong. Much like the previous gifts, this one also came it’s a gift.
Tumblr media
‘Greetings Rashaad.
I wish you a very happy birthday, I wanted to give you a gift to show my appreciation for you so when I heard that you are a jazz fan, I figured to give you a gift similar to that, I’ll admit, I had some help acquire this from Kyler but he insisted on that I take credit, I hope you enjoy it and once again, happy birthday.’
- Wataru
Happy Birthday Rashaad!
Rashaad had to smile at the picture Kureha had painted for him. He couldn't recall the last time he had seen his birthplace of Puerto Rico. In fact, he had left there when he was 14, but he had spent so much time in New York and Japan that he could only recall vague spots of his home country. He had found the perfect spot in his bedroom to hang up. It would be a reminder of his home country, if only a little part.
He had just come back downstairs to see Evelyn playing with the bobblehead doll of Agni, whom Rashaad had to admit, looked vaguely like him. Meanwhile, Ace was trying out Kyler's gift, though with limited success. For all his skill in American football, it seems he was sorely lacking in basketball.
While his teammates were occupying their team, Rashaad pulled out the Louis Armstrong record. He smiled as he was reminded that this is what his father would always play in his barber shop. Rashaad never understood why. But now that he's older, he finally understood. As he listened to the trumpet being played by the man known far and wide as Satchmo, only one thought passed through the bar owner's mind:
"It's times like these that make me realize that I need to hurry up and learn how to play the saxophone..."

Thank you all!
As Rashaad's birthday sadly comes to an end, I'd like to send a special thank you to all those who sent him gifts or wished him a 'happy birthday'. It truly means a lot! I hope you will show Kotan the same love when his birthday rolls around at the end of November! Until then!
-
Rashaad is seen standing behind his bar counter, cleaning an empty glass with a white rag. His new pet kitten, Coco, is seen curled up on his bar, sleeping; no doubt, it is probably tired from all the excitement it has gone through throughout the day. The bar, surprisingly, is fairly empty, save one or two patrons who are sitting at tables instead of his bar. As Rashaad finishes cleaning his glass, he sets it down, sighs, and looks up at the camera.
"I have to say, I'm quite surprised at the number of people who actually took the time out to not only wish me a 'happy birthday', but also sent me gifts as well. It was... very surprising, to say the least. I must admit, being a bartender in Japan wasn't exactly where I saw myself. If you'd told me as a child that this is what I would be doing, I wouldn't have believed you."
"But... well, fate has a way of making the impossible, possible." Rashaad looks a bit melancholy but gets over it. "A wise man once said, 'The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.' And he was right. Nobody knows what their life has planned. ...But I guess that's what makes life so interesting."
"So yeah, my life hasn't been what I thought it'd be. But I have no complaints. It's a good life, and I wouldn't have any other way." He looks as a customer walks up to the bar, asking for a drink. Rashaad gives a nod, before looking back at the camera.
"Well, duty calls. Again, thank you all. It is really appreciated."
With a final nod, the bar owner begins making the customer's drink, using the usual swagger and awesomeness that he is known for. When he is done, he places it in front of the customer, giving the camera one last smile before it fades out.

The day was almost over for Rashaad's birthday, but before it could end, a certain adult actress had to bequeath one of her favorite people and her favorite bartender a gift before then. So, after paying a deliveryman an "extra-service" for having her gift shipped to Okinawa before the day was over, a small pink box was now placed on Rashaad's counter in his back room. The bar owner was surprised to receive mail this late, but he didn't question it, as it wasn't the weirdest thing he ever saw.
Looking at the box, a sticky note was place on top of it, which read: 'Don't open till your alone!' Looking around, Rashaad could confirm he was by himself, though the bar was open. Opening the box, the bar owner looked at what was inside.
...
He almost wished he hadn't. Why? Because... inside was one of Aika's, a.k.a. Vivian Vixen's as she was called on her job, videos. But this wasn't an ordinary video. Oh no, if you knew what Aika did for a living, you'd know that the videos she made... well, they weren't for the weak of heart. And it certainly didn't help that the cover art displayed Aika in all of her... "glory".
...
Poor, poor, Rashaad...
...
As much as Rashaad enjoyed Aika-san's... jokes, this one was going too far. While he'll gladly admit that Aika was a beautiful woman, he really wished she'd stop sending him these videos of her. Looking at the video cover, the bar owner calmly placed the top of the box back on it, pushed it off to the corner of his table, and calmly left his room, proceeding back to the bar, refusing to give it a second thought.
"I sometimes have trouble wondering who is worse: her, Miss Lola, or Miss Rose..."
Thanks for the gift!

The day was finally coming to an end in Okinawa. It was also a special day as it was Rashaad Young, Japan’s favorite bartender’s birthday. The man of the hour was getting ready for the evening rush of customers even on his birthday duty called. Then all of a sudden a sharply dressed man with a cane in his hand entered Eagle’s Nest. Rashaad quickly recognized the man as Shinji Aoki, second in command to the Kito-gumi.
“Rashaad-san,” Shinji bowed, using his cane to help him. “Sorry to bother you before your rush but Sakura and her friends have asked me to deliver you gifts they had all gotten you.”
Using his cane Shinji tapped the floor, signaling for several men to enter the bar bringing inside several gifts including one in a wooden crate.
“Now if you excuse us Rashaad. We’ll take our leave now. Have a nice rest of your birthday.” Shinji bowed once again, the men behind him following suit before they all left Eagle’s Nest leaving Rashaad alone. Walking over to the gifts Rashaad picked up the lightest one first and opened it.
Tumblr media
Inside the first box was a record of the song "Axman's Jazz (Don't Scare Me Papa)" a 1919 song by Joseph John Davilla. Rashaad blinked. Wasn't that song inspired by a serial killer? Shaking his head Rashaad picked up the second gift and opened it.
Tumblr media
Inside the second gift was a gorgeous glass decanter and matching drinking glasses. Red, orange, green, and blue colored the set making it look beautiful when the sunlight hit them. Placing them to the side Rashaad turned to the final gift.
Rashaad wondered what someone could've gotten him for it to be in a wooden crate of all things. Knowing he would get any answers unless he opened it Rashaad began to open the crate. Thankfully it didn't take much strength to open it.
Tumblr media
Inside the crate was a wooden pool table. It was gorgeous with the sides of the table expertly carved and a dark emerald cloth that felt soft to the touch. Laying on top of the table were the billiards balls in their rack and matching wooden pool cues. Seeing a note on the pool table as well Rashaad picked it up and began to read.
“Raashaad,
Happy Birthday. As thanks for letting us into Eagle’s Nest, we've all gotten you a gift. The record is from Kanon, the pool table is from Reika, and the decanter set is from Sakura. Once again Happy Birthday.
Signed,
Silent Tragedy”
In Shizuoka Divison…
“Wait. You actually got Rashaad something too Kanon?”
“Of course. I’m quite fond of the drinks that he makes. This is just my thanks.”
“Please tell me you got him something normal Kanon. I beg of you.”
“A record.”
“Oh thank god.”
“Okay, that's actually pretty tame.”
“Why do the two of you think I can't gift someone something nice?”
“Your idea of a nice gift often comes straight out of a horror movie Kanon.”
“That's putting it lightly.”
“My gifts are wonderful.”
“Sentient plant monster.”
“Parasitic flesh-eating bacteria.”
Truthfully, Rashaad wasn't a bit surprised to see Shinji-san. Not that he didn't appreciate the older gentleman's patronage. Believe it or not, Rashaad and Shinji actually had a good relationship with each other. It's just that knowing who Shinji-san worked for, the bar owner assumed that he'd be too busy to stop by, and would have had someone else deliver gifts for him. Gifting him a rare bottle of whiskey before he departed, Rashaad bade the older gentleman an 'until next time' before turning to his gifts.
To say he was surprised at them would be an understatement. Knowing each of the three women of Shizuoka personally, Rashaad did his best to keep them all at arm's length. He was grateful for their patronage, but hearing some of the things about them, he tried to avoid being overly friendly with them. Though they weren't as bad as some of the other customers over the years, he tried to make sure they were as amicable as possible to prevent any... trouble from arising.
Smiling at the glasses the rich socialite, Reika, gave him, Rashaad smiled, placing them in his cupboard, promising to use them only on special occasions. Turning his attention to the pool table, he looked at it, pleased with the gift. He knew Master Ace was an avid pool player, and a couple of other patrons had mentioned before about wanting to play some pool.
"Maybe I'll ask Master Ace for a game when he is free."
Looking at the last gift, the record Kanon gave him, Rashaad, though a bit skeptical, decided to give it a play, inserting the disc into his jukebox. Listening to the first few seconds, a smile plastered onto the bar owner's face. A spooky undertone could be heard as the music blasted out of the machine.
"Maybe I should use this for Halloween night in a few months..."
Thanks for the gift!

It was already evening when a box arrived in front of the popular tavern known as the Eagle's Nest. Knowing his foreign friend, Luis deducted that Rashaad was probably sleeping right about now. Either that, or he was getting ready for the rush that was about to happen in a few short hours. Birthday or not, that didn't stop business from happening, no matter how much you wished it wasn't.
Not wanting to disturb his friend, the Hispanic chef left his gift on the doorstep of the bar. Looking back at the bar, Luis gave a small grin and a short wave before he began the trek back home to his city of Aoyama.
An hour later...
Stepping outside for a quick smoke break, Rashaad nearly tripped over the box that was placed in front of his doorway. Looking at it, he looked as it simply read 'From Luis', which made Rashaad smile as he knew it was from his smoke and drinking buddy. Forgetting about his nicotine addiction for now, he brought the box into his back room and opened it. His eyes opened at was what inside.
Tumblr media
To say that the cake looked artistic as it did delicious would be an understatement. It was a strawberry sponge cake decorated with coconut chips. It was covered with plastic, obviously to keep it from spilling or getting ruined. Looking in the box, the bar owner spotted a letter from his friend, which read:
'Happy Birthday, Rashaad. Hope you are having a good one. I have to say, it's been a long while since we met, but it feels like yesterday. Anyway, I don't want to spend the letter reminiscing; that's what our monthly meet-ups are for. But I hope you enjoy this cake I made. You mentioned before that you miss your mother's sponge cake, so I tried to make it as best as I can. It obviously won't be as good as hers, but I hope it reminds you of home, regardless. Again, I wish you a very blessed happy birthday. And I hope you have many more. See you next week for our meet-up. Until then.
Sincerely,
Luis Kōkyū'
Rashaad smiled at the cake received by his long-time friend and fellow rap partner. Seeing the cake in the box and the letter almost made the bar owner sentimental.
"I can't believe he remembered something like that," Rashaad stated. "It was almost half a year ago when I stated that I missed my mom's cooking."
Smiling, he placed the cake inside the fridge inside his kitchen, promising to get a cake later on in the evening when the bar was about to close. He also made a mental note to repay his friend for this. As he was about to leave, he noticed his opened pack of cigarettes and remembered that he was heading outside for a smoke break before he found Luis's gift.
"Meh, I'll just take one later."
Placing the pack in his back pocket, the bar owner took a deep stretch before heading back into the bar. The day/night wasn't over yet...
Thanks for the gift!

Raashad look at the box on the door the card have the Kumamoto's division triqueta with something write
"happy birthday Raashad"-from Aoba, Kunio and Natsume
Aoba's gift are two books by Haruki Murakami with a card
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"hello Raashad San,i know that you like the jazz and i thought that the work of Haruki Murakami could be intereseting for You,his works have influence in the jazz music and Murakami himself have had a jazz bar before being author"
And Kunio's and Natsume gift are a jazz CD with a card too
Tumblr media
"hello raashad! This is a album of a famous jazz group me and Natsume thought that this could like you! I'm going to the nest for a Magic show and maybe dance with my cute Natsume, happy birthday Raashad"
Rashaad looked at the box and smiled at the Triqueta, knowing whom the box was sent from. It had been a while since he had seen any of the inhabitants from Kumamoto. He hoped that they'd find time to visit Okinawa and Eagle's Nest again in the future. Opening the box, Rashaad looked at the books and smiled. He had always been a fan of Haruki Murakami and his works. Though he wasn't the main reason, his books were partially why he came up with the idea to turn Eagle's Nest into a jazz club.
"I'll definitely read these when I have some time." The bar owner said to himself, putting them off to the side.
The last gift made Rashaad's eyes widen as it was a record of Americana Deluxe by the California jazz band, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. He had heard of this band after Ace mentioned it one night while they were drinking. He had been trying to find records or albums of them, but apparently, they were hard to come by here in Japan. As he pulled the large black vinyl disc out of the cover and looked at it, he made a mental note to thank Kunio and Natsume dearly for this. Popping it into his jukebox, he hit the 'Play' button as the disc started spinning.
Grabbing a glass of ice-cold whiskey and lighting up a cigarette, the bar owner leaned back in his seat as the vinyl disc began playing one of the greatest discs by one of the world's greatest jazz bands.
Thanks for the gift!

It’s just that Japan has turned around into the midsummer —The perfect time to enjoy a beach trip for most people.
Once a certain jet-black car has reached its destination at one of the best hot-spots being reviewed in Okinawa, the boy with reddish hair has been spotted stepping out of the car …with a number of boxes in his arms.
The seashell chimes hanging above the bar’s doors let out their lovely rattling sound as he gets inside.
“Good afternoon, mister. Are you perhaps Mr. Young of Eagle’s Nest? I’m Yuuya Kanata from Nara division. I’m here today to relay the birthday presents from my team.”
Tumblr media
“This box is my gift. They may look all yummy but they are in fact scented candles I found nice. If by any chance, I think they will make good decorations to your bar at nighttime. Their smells are quite something too. This one has a vanilla scent, this one is strawberry milkshake, this one is butter cream, and many more —Well, they all smell like desserts in my opinion.”
And then he brings out a cooler box.
Tumblr media
“Okay, these ones are actually edible haha. They’re Monaka ice cream made from my teammate despite him telling me that making ice cream isn’t really his land of expertise. Even so, he expects something cool like ice cream would sell off rather well in summer and more particularly; maybe somewhere with a tropical climate like in Okinawa. And in case you want to be more creative with them, the empty shells (crispy wafer) are also available in the additional bag.”
Tumblr media
“From Saigo-san are the beautifully painted ceramic plates and the last one is from Mr. Chishio —Hmm, the latter is like… the assistant of Saigo-san? Honestly, just how many jobs this guy has been carrying under that title. I don’t know why, but Mr. Chishio seems to know your place rather well even before we entered the DRB. He even asked me to tell you ‘Thank you for the trading’ and give me his own gift for you.”
Inside the box from the guy called Chishio are a collection of kitchen knives for various uses ...Just don’t get the wrong idea. Japanese are known for using different knives for each different role in the kitchen. So, the ultimate motive behind this gift is only for cooking …Definitely, not for murdering someone, maybe?
“And that’s all we’ve got for you today. Lastly, Happy Birthday Mr. Young —EH? YOU ALSO GOT A KITTY?”
Seemingly distracted for a minute, the boy soon keeps his composure back from petting the kitten a couple of times.
“…It’s a shame that I’ve to fetch some seafoods for my teammates before dinnertime, so let me say a good-bye for today. Nevertheless, hope you and your teammates all have a nice year!”
——— BONUS: about fifteen minutes ago
Chishio: We’ve already arrived at the bar so why don’t we order some liquor on our way home?
Yuuya: How do you forget that I’m still underage and alcohol seems likely to be downright sedative to me? What wicked humor you have today, Chishio-san. At least don’t convince your minor to be your drinking friend!
Chishio: *chuckles* Aren't you 19 this year, kid?
Rashaad smiled at the handful of gifts he had received from the Nara Division. Truthfully, he wasn't all that familiar with them, though he did know of them. It was one of the many perks of being a bartender; you knew just about everyone in Japan, whether they had revealed themselves or not. He made a mental note that he'd have to interact with the Nara team later on when he had some free time. Before he departed, the bar owner disappeared quickly into his bar before returning with a bottle of sake and some cups.
"For Chishio-san and Fuyugami-san," Rashaad stated, handing him the bottle and the cups. "Tell them to make sure it's thoroughly heated first."
Bidding the young teenager a farewell, Rashaad looked at the gifts he had received. Out of all of them, the candles were perhaps his favorite. Opening a random one, he quickly lit it with his lighter. In a matter of seconds, the entire bar seemed to smell like some fruity cereal, making Rashaad nod his head, enjoying the aroma.
Sitting down on one of the stools in his bar, he chose the vanilla and chocolate parfait as he began digging into it, eating it was his hands. He heard a small 'purr' from above and looked as it was his kitten, Coco, whom Rashaad had forgotten was on top of his head. Looking up at him, he placed a small thing of ice cream on one of the plates, Fuyugami-san had given him.
The feline, not needing to be told twice, dug into the sweet milky treat, using his small tongue to eat it. The scene made Rashaad grin; this birthday was truly shaping up to be, perhaps, his best upon leaving the States.
Thanks for the gift!

“Ring-a-ding-ding! Delivery time! Hey, wait…” In a very convenient twist of fate, Kensaku found himself in Okinawa on a business meeting, which coincidentally fell on the day of his favorite bar owner’s birthday. Of course, Kensaku was not really planning on doing anything for Rashaad, save for a cheery ‘Happy Birthday’ and an extra tip, but his team’s leader actually had a very large gift for the owner. Unfortunately, upon trying the door, it seemed the man was absent from the premises for the moment. “Aw shoot. I guess it makes sense the hours are different for his own birthday. I’ll just leave it by the door. Hopefully, nobody steals it…”
Gently setting the small crate down, Kensaku stepped back and looked around, making sure nobody shady would come in to scoop up the gift. Then with a sigh, the older man began sauntering away, returning to his hotel. “Hope it gets to him. Asato’s got grape expectations haha…”
In due time, Rashaad would return to inevitably find the crate at his doorstep. Bringing it inside and opening it up would reveal it to be a typical Japanese luxury fruit box, filled to the brim with watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, peaches, apples, and even persimmons.
Tumblr media
Strangely enough, while no note was included inside, something was tucked into the crate haphazardly. Pulling it out revealed a glasses case, with Matsuda sunglasses contained inside. A rather flashy gift, unlike Asato… There’s no doubt someone else helped him pick this out.
Tumblr media
In Kensaku’s Hotel Room…
“...Either way, your gift is delivered safely!” Lounging in the loveseat provided by the hotel, Kensaku cradled a glass of alcohol whilst talking on the phone to Asato. “I’m sure Rashaad is having fun opening the gift up right now.”
“That’s good…” Asato hummed. Then, the farmer questioned. “You didn’t forget my letter, right?”
“Oh! The letter that you couldn’t fit into the box? I uh…” Kensaku thought, but then, his words trailed off when he spotted the said letter still sitting on the bedstand. “...I didn't forget. For sure, kiddo.”
“...You forgot.”
“No...!”
Kensaku was met with silence.
“Fine! I did forget!” Kensaku groaned, “But there’s no way he won’t know it’s from you.”
More silence.
“Ugh, just let it man-go Asato.”
For a moment, it sounded like a snicker let slip on the other side, before Kensaku was met with the monotone beep of the farmer hanging up on him. Exasperatedly Kensaku sighed, knowing he was going to get the silent treatment from Rikiya man when he returned to Toyama.
Rashaad, unfortunately, was out of the bar due to ordering some supplies for his bar. Although Ace and Evelyn assured him they could have gotten that for him and that he was to relax on his birthday, the bar owner insisted that it was no trouble and that he wouldn't be gone long. Unfortunately, his supposed 20-minute trip somehow turned into an hour since he was busy being congratulated and wished a 'happy birthday' by many of Okinawa's citizens. Still, he wasn't complaining. He knew what he was getting into when he stepped outside.
Upon arriving back at the Eagle's Nest, the bar owner sighed as he laid down the supplies he had bought on a nearby counter. He was about to put them up when he noticed some fruit and a pair of sunglasses on a table, making his eyes go wide. Looking at the watermelon, a grin appeared on his face as he noticed the insignia on it.
"Asato-kun," Rashaad stated. His family's fruits always had a distinct taste and smell to them. It was fortunate that he had some fruit supplies left over, so he wouldn't need to use all of these for his drinks.
"These will help make a good brunch later on in the week."
Looking at the sunglasses, Rashaad looked at them from all sides. Truthfully, it was kind of hard to picture the bartender without his trademark sunglasses on. He didn't know when he started wearing them, but they were an essential part of his character now. Slipping his brownish-black glasses off his face, he put on the light blue sunglasses, making everything appear... for lack of a better word, "bluish".
"Hmm, I'll wear them tonight and see how they feel. ...Though I wonder if anyone will even really notice..."
Thanks for the gift!

ARB Birthday Special: Rashaad Young
Tumblr media
~~ August 5th ~~
"I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying."
Login Lines:
*Sighs* "Another day in Okinawa." *Yawns* "Man, I've got to start looking for an assistant soon. These six hours of sleep are not doing it for me. Oh well. Better get downstairs and make some brunch while I have time. ...Hmm? Wait... Master Ace and Miss Rose? They... they both made brunch for me already? ...Wow. Everything looks nice, but... what brought this on? Not that I don't appreciate it, but... Hmm? A note?"
"'Happy birthday?' Wait... it's my birthday? ...Oh! I suppose it is. Ha, and me being me slept through most of it. ...Wow. It's my birthday again. I... I can scarcely believe how the time has flown. All the days seem to get jumbled together as of late. ...Well, better not late this food that Master Ace and Miss Rose made for me go to waste. But I have to wonder when they prepared all this..."
Voice Lines:
"It's actually my birthday again. I wonder why none of my patrons informed me last night. ...Though, I suppose the large number of tips I received may have been a hint. ...And the bar did get empty around 3:30 last night. Usually, some of my more... inebriated patrons like to stay until the last second. Still, it wasn't unappreciated."
"I guess coming out of my bar was a smart decision. Seems like everyone in the city has wished me a 'happy birthday', which is nice. ...Hard to believe that I've been here in Japan for over 10 years now. And it's been over five years since Master Jelani sadly passed away. I remember when he made a pineapple birthday cake for my first-year anniversary. It was unexpected but very much appreciated. If not for him, I wouldn't even be here right now. ...I miss him dearly."
"Thank you, Master Ace. Your birthday wish is greatly appreciated. ...Yes, it's hard to believe that we only met two years ago, yet it seems like only yesterday. I know coming here to Japan wasn't your first choice, but I am glad that you did, for if you hadn't, then we never would have had the chance to meet. ...Haha. Are your views on this country starting to change? I am glad for it. ...Ha, very well. I shall cease my teasing for now."
"...Oh. A new watch? Yes, my previous watch had broken and I hadn't had time to get a new one. But this one... it looks better than the one I previously had. How much did it cost? ...How much?! Master Ace, you truly did not have to spend that much on me. Not that I don't appreciate it, but you should preserve your money when you can. ...Very well, I will wear it, but in the future, please do not spend that much again. As I stated, it is appreciated, but something much cheaper would be just as good."
"Thank you very much for the birthday wish, Miss Rose. As I told Master Ace, I am very glad to have known you as well. I am glad you are taking to Japan a lot better than Master Ace. I hope that you continue to help show him that this country, despite its flaws, has its hidden beauties just like everywhere else. ...It is much appreciated, Miss Rose."
"Oh, and what is this? ...Miss Rose, why is this box... moving? Is there something inside? What is it? A... kitten?! Miss Rose, where did...?! You adopted it... for me?! Why? ...Oh, I did mention about wanting a pet before, didn't I? But still, Miss Rose, I don't know if I'll have time to... You'll... help me to take care of it?" *Sighs* "Very well, I shall adopt it. ...A name? Well... how about Coco, due to its black fur? ...Yes, I like the name too. Welcome to your new home, Coco."
Ace Lines:
"Happy Birthday, Rash! I tell you, it's hard to believe we've known each other for only two years. You helped me and Evee out when you let us stay here in your bar. I have to say, out of the places in Japan, I'm glad this city was the one we decided to stay in. ...Yeah, I'm still not big on this place, but... well, I'll admit, Japan's not all that bad. ...Yeah, yeah. Don't push it, okay? I'm trying to learn how to be better, but it's a work in progress."
"Anyway, I got you a gift. I've noticed that you've been looking at your left wrist for the time, but you can't tell what it is since your old watch broke. So, I bought you this one. It's a Rolex Datejust 36, it'll help you to keep track of the date, as well as the time. It's also insured, so don't worry if you break it. ...The cost? Surprisingly, it was a lot cheaper than I thought it'd be; only $15,000. Rash, don't worry about the price. I assure you, that's nothing compared to you putting up with me and Evee. ...Alright, I'll take that into account, but seriously, prices don't mean much to a guy who's the son of the President of the United States."
Evelyn Lines:
"Happy Birthday, Rashaad! I have to, like, say: it has been awesome knowing you since we arrived in Japan! I'll admit, I was, like, totally bummed when I found out Acey and I weren't staying in that 5* hotel his dad was supposed to have us stay in. But, like, Eagle's Nest beats any hotel any day! I know Acey doesn't really, like, care much for Japan, but I hope he, like, gets over it someday. Japan is, like, an awesome place to live!"
"Oh yeah! Here's your present! I know you'll, like, like him! Surprise! It's, like, a cute, adorable kitten! I passed by, like, a pet store one day, and I saw all these cute animals inside! And then I, like, remembered you mentioned about wanting a mascot for your bar, so I, like, thought... why not a pet! I know you'll be, like, busy with work, but Acey and I can watch and help you take care of it! ...You'll keep him?! Yay! Awesome! So, first things first: what's its name? ...Coco? I like it! Welcome to, like, the family, Coco!"
