Someone gave me some felting needles they didn't need anymore at knit club last night, and then someone else gave me some roving to practise on 😭 was going to buy some next year to learn and felt features onto crochet. People are kind.

Block party! I have no idea what I'm doing haha, and hopefully it dries before tomorrow because then I can gift it in person.
This is my first time attempting blocking, I really wanted the points of the chevrons to be defined so I swiped my childhood play mats from my mother and used every pin I own. It's a bit lumpy and bumpy in the middle and you can see where I've messed up on the pattern on the vertical lines but I think it actually looks okay. It's grown on me considering blue is my least favourite colour group and I put it down for over a year because I didn't like it (maybe I like it now because it's finished! 😂)

Let's play a game, it's called "jfc, why didn't you weave in the 2 (TWO!!) loose ends from the hat you made 6 years ago?"

One loose end can be seen from the brim and one loose end can be seen on the top of the hat. End description]

Did a lot this weekend. Nothing else much to do whilst quarantining.
Made an impromptu cross stitch wedding gift. I'll wash it and frame it next week. Also finally stitched together a pencil case I've meaning to do for months. Slap dash but it does the job. Frogged a scarf that I started as a teenager over 10 years ago from the book with that vile transphobic author. Not pictured is the umbrella frame I'm varnishing. Image descriptions in alt text.

I am once again going to give myself too much to do... So I've just been invited to a coworker's for a little get together this Saturday before she has her baby, and another pregnant coworker will be there. I've made hats for one but not the other so now I'm going to hurriedly make the second set of hats. It will be fine though because one will be my fave hat pattern that I make all the time, and another will be crochet so hopefully quick.
Never mind I've already said I'll help out with a charity crochet project for Wednesday. And I have to finish painting an umbrella frame for a crochet parasol wedding gift for next Wednesday...
I mean it's all possible but I don't make life easy for myself do I?

First granny square since actually learning to crochet! From experience, I am a firm believer that no one should learn to crochet starting with granny squares.
Anyway I'm making cushions for my new sofa, 2 weeks til it comes 😍 1 down, 17 to go.

I love this yarn so much 😍
[image description: a round cake of yarn being held over two small yellow sunflowers. The yarn cake is gradieated from black on the outside edge, through to a dark blue, to a teal, and finally to a dark/mid green on the inside. End description]
I got two cakes just in case one wasn't enough for the wedding gift project. I hope one it is because I already have plans on using the second cake for a top for myself.

Hi vis hat! I work in construction so I thought it would be cute to make a little baby hi-vis-esque hat. Made this for a former coworker a few years ago, but they never replied when I offered it so I'm giving it to another coworker. Well trying to, because they're never in the office when they say they will be. Starting to think I'm destined to never gift this hat!
[Image description: A hand knit baby hat with a folded brim and pom pom on top. The hat is orange with a grey horizontal stripe above the brim, similar to hi-vis. There is a paper tag attached to the hat with string that reads "handmade with [punched out heart shape]". The hat is being held in front of some pink flowers. End description]

Once again, am I doing too much? I want this wedding gift crochet project to be ✨perfect✨ so I want to spray paint this umbrella frame black to match the wedding dress. The wedding is in 2 and a half weeks, and I've never spray painted before. Do I want to spend upwards of £30 on supplies I'll probably use only once, but learn a new skill, but also potentially do it wrong? Also the weather has turned so I have a small window of time I can work outside spray painting.

This weekend's progress on skelly go round!
I sat out in the garden and crocheted this gift instead of weaving in loose ends of for a different gift... Starting to see the colour change in the yarn now and the building of the main skeletons, loving this progress now!
I thought I'd have to rip back a whole row because I missed one single stitch crucial to the next row, but it turns out I thought I misread the pattern and started incorrectly correcting another stitch 5 rows ago, but I hadn't misread it so I have to frog those 5 rows now 😭 never have I ripped back a project so much haha
[image description: 2 photos. The first shows a round crocheted doily work in progress, lying on a red and white striped beach mat. The doily is mid green in the centre and is slowly transitioning to teal on the outside edge. The doily features skulls and rib cages in a pattern around. The second image shows a close up of one of the skulls and rib cages in the doily. End description]

Every now and then I have to stop and ask myself "am I doing too much?" and normally the answer is yes, yes I am. Then I ask "will that stop me though?" But actually, this time it has! I'm just gonna buy something for someone I don't know that well instead of crafting them something with a 2 week deadline.

This took 3 years to finish lol
[image description: an orange crocheted fish with black hanging inside a glass jar with invisible thread so it looks like it is floating. The bottom of the jar is lined with white stones and there is a small green crocheted 3-stranded plant in the bottom of the jar also. The jar is being held in front of some pink flowers. End description]
Started this is lockdown 2? in 2020 when I first learnt to crochet, and finally finished it this week. Pattern is No Fuss Fish.

Finished! I guess you can't really block acrylic without heat? Next time I might run the iron over the edges so they keep their shape, they rolled back immediately after I took the pins out. Still like how this blanket turned out though.
I also whipped up a crocheted hat first thing yesterday morning to gift as well. Proud that I went from nothing to a whole hat, with ends woven in in literally 2 hours.
The recipient loved them and told me they will be perfect for baby when the weather cools down.

Making decisions is soooo hard, do I buy thread for a pattern or 4 ply yarn? Do I want to try lace for the first time on a massive wedding gift due by mid October? With my wrecked shoulder? Or do I just use 4 ply and compromise? The 4 ply is so pretty and will match the brides dress but it's 5x the price of the thread. But it is on sale! But the pattern in lace looks so nice too.
I'm probs gonna get the 4 ply.

6+ years I left this unfinished because it was an irregular shaped and had barely any border space around it to frame it, and I was starting to think the stitching looked a bit rubbish. 4 hours work later and it's done. I would have preferred a dark green mount but I was working with what I already had at home and that was this lilac card.
I wove in the loose ends (the back was a mess, what was I doing as a beginner haha), cut the aperture in the card, then washed and ironed the piece. Even just the ironing made a massive difference in the appearance. There was just enough aida to lace the sides, couldn't do the top and bottom, and then lined it up in a different frame I already had, I preferred the look of the light wood.
This was my first cross stitch I designed and completed. Definitely need to take more pride in my work, feel like I would have finished it sooner if I did. The quote was something one of my uni lecturers said because he was annoyed with how much a group of alleged adults was causing him problems 😂
