A Tall horned being walks into the shop carrying two large chests that are decorated to look like a pirate chests. The being smiles at Vex and greets her kindly while explaining why they are here.

"I have gifts for the Fire-rings that joined in the spicy contest and some goodie bags for those who tried!"

*The tall-horned being gently places down the two large chests, one was filled with little plastic bags with different pastries. The other was filled with gifts for the Fire-rings to choose from.*

The large-horned being then sits down in between the chests to help hand out the gifts. They then remembered to quickly grab a few bags of pastries that they had set aside for Vex and her helpers.

"I hope you guys had fun trying out my family's dishes!*

*The goodie bags with pastries are passed out amongst the denizens of the shop, including to Vex and her assistants. Honey and Poff, the skelepuppers, wag their tails as they scurry away with their snacks. They're worried you brought more spicy food, and the spices make them sneeze. Vex, a total spice wimp, happens to love a good pastry, and she hangs around, watching the FireRings select their prizes.

*Once the FireRings have their gift bags, they happily surround the horned being to discuss spicy foods and recipes. They really enjoyed the dishes that were served. Even some Chains have slithered over to learn more about the flavors that were presented during the spicy food competition.

*It seems your family dishes were quite a hit with the spice-loving lamias of the shop!

I've decided I want to adopt the largest Chain lamia you have and a normal full size one too and a Papython that isn't too high energy, pretty please :3

I also want to adopt a Russyne because they are really cute and I really do need an energetic companion

*The first time you visited the Lamia (and Felid) Bittybones Adoption Center, you didn’t feel the tug of a SOULbond. After Vex reassured you that sometimes it takes time to find the right Chain (or in your case, Chains), you decided that it might be worth it to spend some time just relaxing with various lamias and Felids at the shop. You’ve dozed with Cornies and Honey Bos, judged Mamba and King posing competitions, and watched epic anime shows with various Felids while some of the Russynes acted out moves for you.

*Speaking of the Russynes, you’ve actually found one that you really like. She’s always focused on you when she reenacts a battle scene, and she’s quite fond of showing off her strength to you in wrestling matches with other Felids and by lifting random things. Today though, she has a smug, sneaky look on her face. She leads you to her nest, glancing to the left and right before moving some manga books to reveal... a smiling Papython! She knew you wanted one, so she conducted some extensive training sessions to find this cheerful little guy!

*You know that technically lamias aren’t supposed to hang out in the Felid area during adoption hours (in case a Felid adopter has a fear of snakes), so you scoop the little guy up along with the Russyne and head for the downstairs area. That’s when you feel it... a tug at your SOUL. Your Chain (s) must be nearby! You rush downstairs to see a commotion at the door. A huge full-sized Chain is stuck in the doggy door. Honey the Pappy puppypapri is pulling his arms, and a slightly smaller full-sized Chain is pushing his his snake tail.

*When the smaller Chain sees you, he begins to hop up and down and wave before redoubling his efforts to shove the other Chain into the shop. You can’t help smiling as you head to the adoption desk. When Vex hands you two forms for the lamia and Felid in your arms, you tell her that you actually need two more. A crash behind you tells you that the other two members of your adoption party have finally made it inside, just in time for paperwork!

Happy Halloween!!

A five-foot human woman wearing a witches costume comes into vex’s bitty shop, following closely behind her is Oscar a three-foot coral-cherry lamia and Wilhelm a nine-foot chain lamia, each of them is holding a large box.

“Vex?” the woman calls not seeing the owner of the shop in the front receiving room. The call however startles Honey, Vex’s Pappy puppypapri who had been asleep behind the counter. He rubs at his eye sockets as he steps out from behind the counter, the woman says, “oh, I didn’t see you, I’m sorry for waking you Honey. I brought treats for everyone since its Halloween.” She places the box shes holding down next to the counter, Oscar and Wilhelm follow her lead and place theirs down as well.

She points at the boxes while still kneeling to be level with Honey and say’s “these boxes have small Halloween themed present treat bags, the color of the ribbon tying them closed indicates what kind of bitty the treats are design for, there should be enough for everyone to have at least two bags each.” before returning to a standing position, she giggles a little at Honey’s happy tail wagging at the word ‘treat’.

The door leading to the back rooms then opens as Vex steps through, the woman in the witches costume smiles at her and says “Hi vex, I hope you’re having a Happy Halloween! Oscar and Wilhelm are wondering if they could visit with their old friends who might still be at the shop today?” Once Vex has given her an answer about the visit, the woman relays her message again about the boxes to Vex.

*Vex grins and tells Oscar and Wilhelm to feel free to wander as they see fit. A drowsy Honey is sniffing at the little treat bags, and sees that some are labeled are specifically labeled for the shop helpers: himself, Vex, his brother Poff, Edgar the nursery caretaker, G the Grillbitty who lives with the Cornies, and even Waffle and his mate Syrup and baby Butter! Honey gathers the specifically labeled treat bags to hand them out, feeling very pleased with himself for being so helpful!

*Vex gives a shout of “Treats!” to summon the lamias of the shop, and there is a small stampede as lamias line up to receive holiday goodies. Helpful Papythons push the Corny treat bags under the anti-venom fridge so that the Cornies don’t need to expend energy for them. Shy Corals mumble thank yous, and Rebelle and Lieutenant Cherry make a grand show of collecting a haul of treat bags for their Commander gang (though Vex makes sure they only take the treats meant for them.

*Kings collect treat bags for the Felids who prefer to stay in their area of the shop, and little blue blurs of Pygmies zoom by, grabbing their designated treats at high speeds. Soon the shop settles as each lamia and Felid settles in to enjoy their treats. Vex smiles as Honey, tummy nice and full, curls up behind the counter again to resume his hard-earned nap. Poff snuggles up to him and Vex puts a blanket over them to keep them warm.

I bring in boxes of all the lamias favourite snacks and fluffy blankets and little treats and blankets for all the baby lamias hope you have a good day / night 🙂

*The usual culprits make their appearances. Cornies, Honey Bos, Corals, and Chains grab some fluffy blankets to add some extra softness and comfort to their nests. All of the lamias approach you to peruse the treat selection, with each lamia picking an item he enjoys eating (or maybe two because the Corals like to stuff a few extra treats inside of their jackets for later).

*Papython and Kraits give snuggly hugs while Kings and FireRings thank you with grace and dignity. Mambas and Pygmies perform acrobatic feats to show their thanks, and Honey, Poff, and Butter shout their thank you as they munch snacks and plan their latest blanket fort.

*Edgar leads the hatchlings out of the nursery to receive their treats and extra blankets. The ones who are old enough and able to speak say adorable little thank yous. The youngest hatchlings beep and peep. You’re sure it means thank you as well. Edgar gives you a hug and grabs a snack for himself before leading the hatchlings back to the nursery for naptime with their new blankets.

*You step into the Lamia Bittybones Adoption Center right in the middle of some sort of epic dance battle. Music blasts from the meet and greet room, and you follow the sounds of cheers and laughter to find lamias of every type and size (even the hatchlings!) enjoying games of Just Dance. It isn’t long before you’re swept up into the madness.

Honey and Poff each take one of your hands and lead you to a spot where you can dance safely without being bumped or jostled by enthusiastic Mambas or Pygmies, who are competing fiercely for high scores. At first you think the thrum in your SOUL is from the loud music... until a full-sized Chain slithers up to you and offers you his hand, asking for a dance. That thrum is a potential SOUL bond, and you accept both the dance and the bond, letting the Chain twirl and dip you to the music.

*Not long after the Chain begins to dance with you, another lamia cuts in. It’s a sweet-looking Papython being lifted up by a Honey Bo so that he can reach you. The Chain, not willing to relinquish his partner quite yet, offers one hand to the Papython, and you offer one as well. The three of you shake and shimmy all around the meet and greet room, too focused on having a great time that none of you care about the beat of the song.

*Breathless, you lead your two partners to a seat on the sidelines next to Vex. The two lamias are beaming at you. The Chain looks confident and happy, and the Papython looks sweet and hopeful. You tell them that of course you’re going to adopt them both, and Vex slips two adoption forms and a pen into your hands because she never leaves the front desk without them.

*It’s always intimidating to come to the Lamia Bittybones Adoption Center for the first time to adopt. You’ve done your research though (a lot of it), and your love of reptiles replaced any anxiety with a sort of nervous anticipation. You’re really going to do it. You’re really going to adopt a lamia. You’re pretty sure you want a Corny, especially after receiving some matchup results. The compatibility level was quite high. Over 9000, you meme to yourself.

*You walk up to the desk and see Vex packing boxes of blankets, toys, and clothing for new adopters. Her assistants, Honey the Pappy puppypapri and Poff the skelepupper scurry around, bringing her any items she needs. Lamias slither around the shop, stopping to smile or wave at you as you make your way to the desk. Their brightly colored scales make the bitties look like a field of exotic tropical flowers. 

*When you get to the desk, your mouth goes dry. All you can manage to croak out is the word “Corny,” but thankfully, Vex smiles and shows you where the little jokesters live. There’s a shelf next to the anti-venom fridge with “Corny Adoption Kits” in it. You see fishing poles with warm, fuzzy socks at the ends of the lines as well as the classic box, stick, and string combinations. You can’t help chuckling. The Cornies are even silly about their adoptions.

*You decide to go for the box-propped-up-with-a-stick trap for your potential Corny. Despite the exaggerated snoring coming from underneath the anti-venom fridge, you see several pairs of bright eyelights watching you. You think for a moment, trying to decide on bait for the trap. You pull up some images of the night sky on your phone and set it under the box, facing the Corny nest. You tie the string to the stick, crouch down, and wait.

*It doesn’t take long for a Corny to “casually” slither past and notice the phone and its pictures. Feigning suspicion in a very overly dramatic manner, the Corny gives in to temptation over caution and slithers under the propped up box to see the photos. You pull the string and the box drops down over him. You step forward to collect your new Corny, but when you lift the box... there’s nothing under it! You turn the box over and see the Corny, somehow adhered to the top of the box, looking at your phone.

* “you like the ssssky? the sssstarssss?” he asks. You nod. “sssstellar,” he comments, then promptly falls asleep. You carry the Corny, box, phone, and all to the front desk. Honey and Poff help you with the paperwork while Vex packs a care package of clothing, blankets, and toys for your new Corny. You also request a travel nest for him, which she also provides. The little guy doesn’t seem to wake up when you transfer him to the travel nest, but you can swear he’s smiling wider than before, happy to find a home with a fellow stargazer.

A tall, 6'7" mess of a human (of whom Vex, Edgar and Honey know as Myst) comes in with a Chain and Firering, both perched on a shoulder and looking around for friends they haven't seen in a while or changes in their old home. Once dismissed to explore, Myst pulls out lots of jerky! Beef jerky, turkey jerky, all sorts of jerky for any and all adoptables, along with a large sum of G. "Get yourselves something nice, the money is for the staff!" (Courtesy of Skelebitty Store and Shelter)

*Vex, Honey, and Poff accept the G with many thanks. They know exactly what they want to spend the money on: fluffy socks in horrendous patterns and jarring colors! Waffle and Syrup put some of the money into savings for toys and clothing for Butter because they are Responsible Adults, and Edgar spends his G on hoodies with funny phrases on them.

*The lamias begin sorting through the jerky, choosing their favorite types and flavors. Papythons and Kings prefer the healthier turkey jerky. Mambas find some spicy jerky to chew on. Chains, Honey Bos, Corals, and Kraits try some fish jerky (because they are water-loving snake types). Pygmies slow their zooming to chew on pieces of jerky, but Cornies seem to be chewing jerky (placed in their mouths by helpful Papythons) in their sleep!

*FireRings are fascinated by the concept of jerky. A super low heat source and smoky wood can produce a dried meat product with a delicious flavor? They are interested in trying out some techniques for themselves.

I skipped into the shop looking excited. I heard about the FireRings and wanted to meet them. Le Roi was on my shoulder as Soul slithered in behind me. "Hi Vex, How are you feeling? Are you doing okay?" I was worried about her after all, and she came first.

*Vex smiles. She looks a bit tired, but cheerful as always and determined to keep the shop in some semblance of order. Honey is standing next to her, looking very serious and holding a blanket and pillow. “Momma’s-” he pauses, making sure he gets the word right “-thyroid is actin’ up again. She’s real tired, so I’ve got an emergency nap kit ready for her!” Honey looks very proud of himself. Ringo, the first ever FireRing lamia, pops his fiery head up out of Miss Vex’s apron pocket. He holds up a piece of paper with “And I’m helping her stay warm!” written on it.

*Meanwhile, the other FireRings have slithered over. You and Soul crouch down to observe them. Their flames are mesmerizing, twisting and dancing without creating too much heat. Le Roi slithers down to stand in front of them. He puts his hands on where his hips would be (if he had legs), puffs out his chest, and then gestures to you like a car salesperson showing off their wares.

*The FireRings have seen Mambas before, and since Le Roi is actually pretty well-behaved, they shower him in admiration, listening as he brags about you and drawing or writing compliments on their whiteboards.

*quietly shuffled in, glancing around while trying to find the corny I had befriended the prior day. Stumbling to the front desk, I try my best to hold eye contact.* “Excuse me, can I Uh, adopt a Corny? P-Please?”

*Honey and Poff are manning the front desk while Vex handles other business. The puppypapri and the skelepupper can see that youre quite nervous, so they run around the desk and approach you with wiggly butts and wagging tails to give you encouraging hugs. Meanwhile, the aforementioned Corny has made an appearance from underneath the anti-venom fridge... wearing ahoodie that has floppy dog ears.

*Despite your nerves, you can’t help chuckling at the silly Corny. When he pulls the hoodie strings, the ears flap up and down comically. This lamia definitely knows how to put you at ease. “I guess you’re a c-corn dog, right?”

*The Corny grins even wider than usual if that possible (it is!). He proceeds to tell you that he’s a mix between a wiener dog and a husk-y, the perfect mix to make a corn dog, obviously. By the time he’s done charming you with jokes and puns, you’re actually laughing and no longer anxious about the adoption process. Poff organizes the paperwork while you give Honey some pats. You give Poff a thank you scritch and take your newly adopted Corny home.

A familiar anon makes their way into the shop, a box of treats in hand, and eyes bright with excitement as they look for Vex. Peri the King is sitting on one of their shoulders, surveying the shop with a fond smile. Link the chain sits on their other shoulder, nuzzled up into their fluffy blue hair. Blep the Honey-Bo is half hanging out of the top of their jacket, blepping and waving at friends and fellow mischief makers as we pass by. Once Vex is spotted we make our way over to her. 1/2

*Vex opens the box, and her eyes get big and shiny when she sees yummy baked goods- one of her weaknesses! Butter climbs the desk to investigate as well, and when Blep sticks his tongue out at the young lamia, Butter mimics the gesture with a giggle. Blep the Honey Bo blows a raspberry; Butter blows a raspberry. More giggling ensues. It seems that Blep and Butter are becoming friends!

*Honey and Poff take charge of the baked goods (minus the ones Vex has stashed at the desk for later munching), and begin to distribute them to hungry lamias. Kraits are big baked good fans, and where the Kraits go, the FireRings follow. Vex is chatting with you about your new home and less hectic job (thank goodness!) while Peri the King and Link the Chain peruse the new lamia type.

*Soon Peri slithers down from your shoulder to join the FireRings and brag (just a little bit) about his baking skills. Link decides to watch from your shoulder and let Peri have the spotlight. The FireRings are entranced by Peri tales of the kitchen and his cooking and baking exploits. One of them scribbles on his whiteboard frequently, obviously asking questions and making comments. Soon he and Peri are engaged in conversations about food, family, and you.

*The conversation with Vex is winding down (mostly because her mouth is full of baked goods). You turn to call Peri back, but when he climbs back up to his perch on your shoulder, he brings the miniature FireRing that he befriended with him. Blep bleps at the new lamia, and the FireRing produces a little tongue of flame in response. Link nods his approval. The adoption form is soon filled out, complete with a few leftover crumbs from Vex’s snack.

* a floating see-through tired looking boy with with brown hair and freckles enters the shop,phasing through the door* hello,im hush* smiles* im here to adopt a chain if thats alright. We sound like a perfect match.

*Honey the Pappy puppypapri and Poff the skelepupper see Hush phase through the door. They notice they he is completely see-through. Two pairs of ears shoot straight up, and the trembling pups grab onto to each other. It seems that a ghost has entered the shop! Who are they gonna call?

* “Mama Vex!” the pups cry, hoping Miss Vex can handle a ghostly visitor better than they can. It isn’t Miss Vex that arrives to the desk first though (but she’s not far behind). A Chain appears from deeper within the shop, obviously attracted by the strange guest more than the pups’ shout. He’s gazing right at Hush with a particular intensity that Chains sometimes have when they are feeling the call of a SOUL.

*Vex reaches the desk, and the pups cling to her. She reassures them that Hush is just here to make an adoption, not to haunt them. She also makes a note not to let them watch any more ghost shows on TV late at night. Once they are calmed, the pups become curious rather than frightened. Hush appears to be distracted though. He and the Chain have locked eye(light)s.

*The Chain’s chest emits a soft white glow... and Hush begins to glow softly as well. The pair nod to each other as the SOUL bond settles into place. “I guess I’m here to adopt this Chain in particular,” says hush. The Chain smiles contentedly and nods again. The pups, having overcome their initial fright, scurry to gather the paperwork for a very unusual (but happy) adoption.

*Edgar hoots out a laugh when he is booped. Vex squeals, and Honey and Poff, the skelepuppers, giggle and wag their little tails. Little Butter boops you back, and Waffle has to hold an indignant Syrup back from scolding you for his boop. The anon runs through the shop, on a booping rampage!

*Honey Bos and FireRings take shelter as the booping commences. Kraits and Papythons giggle and blush whenever they are booped. Mambas shriek in outrage but don’t do much else. They are actually trying to hide the little kitten sneezes that they make when booped. Corals are pretending to dislike the boops, but they are just sitting there with their little arms crossed over their chests, allowing the boops to happen.

*With sighs of resignation and as much dignity as they can muster, the Kings accept the booping. Pygmies zoom around the shop, encouraging the anon to chase and catch them in order to boop them, Chains are theatrically collapsing whenever they are booped, hilariously over-acting as they feign grave injury. Cornies are teleporting around, adding to the chaos with their own boops. Each time a Corny is booped, he makes a squeaky dog toy sound. The punsters will be exhausted tonight.

*Meanwhile, Butter sneaks into the nursery to teach a new generation of hatchlings about snoot boops while Edgar is distracted.

Lottie returns grinning ear to ear with a sharp smile, her boys in tow. "Greetings Vex! I'm happy to announce each of my lovely ones has finally received a name!" She chirps out happily and turns to the now blushing trio. "Each had to wait to earn it as is customary for my people but earn them they did! I present to you..." The lamias pose dramatically, waiting for Lottie's queue! (Part 1)

*Vex, Honey, and Poff all applaud as each name is revealed. Their names sound quite regal, and it is clear that the King, Chain, and especially the Mamba are very proud of those names.

Sleepover at the Shop (part 2)

*The skelepuppers peer timidly out from their furniture sanctuary. They immediately recognize you and Glitter. They give shy little waves, too frightened to come out of hiding and greet you both properly. Glitter, while he may not be fully awake, still feels a need to help. Using his peculiar Corny magic, he alters physics so that you can both squeeze in under the desk to comfort the poor puppers.

*Trembling from the latest round of booms and cracks from the raging sky outside, the pups turn to Girian the Gore bitty and nod. They’re huddled up close to Glitter and his owner, and they definitely look like they have room for more comforting cuddles. Girian’s confidence and paternal nature are welcome in bastion of calm under the desk. Vex brings over warm drinks and extra blankets for everyone. Thanks to Glitter, there’s plenty of room under there for everyone.

*The skelepuppers squeeze in tight with the other under-the-desk-guests to make room for you. They use the extra pillows and blankets to shore up the defenses of their thunder fortress. It’s nice and warm under the desk now, and the extra bodies and extra padding are keeping the thunder that still roars outside from shaking the desk. Finally, at long last, the trembling subsides and the skelepuppers go still, though they still whimper occasionally.

*Vex peruses the books, looking for a good story to distract everyone from the torrential rain rattling the windows. “It was a dark and stormy night...” she reads.

*Vex gestures for you to join them all under the front desk, which can miraculously hold everyone thanks to Glitter’s magic. To keep Glitter from tiring himself out (more than usual anyway), other Cornies have emerged from the Corny nest to help alter the physics of the space.

*Seeing you, Poff and Honey move over a bit so that you can sit between them. They lean against you, soaking up your naturally protective aura. You glance around, checking for Munchkin and see that he has already found his friend Butter. Neither of them seem to be put off by the severe weather. In fact, they are curled up together on a pile of pillows in front of the windows, watching the silvery curtains of rain being buffeted by the high winds. They point at lightning as it dances across the sky, lighting up the nearby park in split-second bursts like brief sunrises. A group of Papythons keeps watch over them.

*As soon as they arrive on the scene, Bell the Corny and pun anon start telling jokes, explaining that they are “lightning” the mood. Slowly but surely, smiles spread through the group of thunderstorm refugees under the desk. Poff and Honey’s whimpers have subsided, and they even giggle at a few jokes. Bell and his adopter try to time the jokes to distract them from the noise of the storm, and it seems to be working.

*Vex scurries off to get warm drinks and towels for Chelle. Maybe the FireRings have a nice tea to help drive away the chills. Poff the skelepupper and Honey the Pappy puppypapri hear Chelle sneeze. As scared as they are of being out in the open with the terrifying thunderstorm still overhead, they can’t ignore a friend in need. Each skelepupper takes one of Chelle’s hands, and together they lead her to their safe space under the desk. They pile up warm blankets around her and her bitties, not even jumping in fright when a ground-shaking peal of thunder sounds above them.

*They are too focused on the task at hand, and the comfort of so many supportive friends, exciting stories, and terrible (and therefore hilarious) puns has helped to ease their minds.

*Sure enough, the power has gone out. Vex, Edgar, and Waffle have set up candles around the shop, bathing the entire space in a warm glow. With a smile on her face, Vex takes in the scene under the desk. Munchkin the Twister lamia and Butter, Waffle and Syrup’s son, are snuggled up to Crysta, smiling in their sleep, dreaming of big adventures.

*Poff and Honey are curled up together, surrounded by friends. Honey kicks one small foot paw in his sleep, and Poff’s tail wags as he dreams of some spectacular treat that he can’t wait to receive. The storm has passed, and thanks to the love and support of those who stopped by, the fear has passed as well.
