Today the Dutch Bros Barista was like, "its your birthday so you get my birthday spiel: idk how you feel about them, idk if you like birthdays or not, but I'm proud of you for making it another year, and you should be too. You're worth the space you inhabit, you matter, and even if you hate birthdays, I wish you nothing but love and prosperity and happiness for the coming year," and you know what?

I love that energy. Thank you Dutch Bros Barista, for taking the time to tell people that are strangers to you that they matter and deserve happiness even when it has no bearing on you yourself. I wish the same to you, I hope someone shows you the same grace you've been showing your customers, on your birthday and reminds you that you're important. I hope the year brings you happiness and prosperity and love, because you matter, too.
