Review Speed-Round: Street Fighter 6
As much as it pains me to leave such a critical review on this game I’ve been having fun with (My main is Ed, but it might change with Akuma), I need to be honest.
The story is a 5/5, gameplay is decent 4/5, but in terms of game modes aside from online, World Tour is lackluster and boring once you complete it. Part of me wants to start it over in order to get the enjoyment of World Tour mode again, but the bigger part of me is like, “do you REALLY want to do all that grinding again?” So as a result 2/5. The story in WT was also okay, it gets points for that at least, not to mention the best way of lore dumping about the Masters.
But that is not the only thing that stops this game from being an awesome game. It’s the micro transactions. The problem was already bad enough in DMC5 and RE4MAKE. It’s somehow worse.
At least with Vergil and Ada Wong, they are relatively cheap to buy as dlc characters. If you want Rashid, A.K.I, Ed and Akuma, fork over $30 with the Year 1 Pass. If you try to do it individually, you’ll end up spending $9 more to get all four. It is a predatory practice Capcom has adopted for some time now which only somehow got worse in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
So because of that, I give this game a thumbs down with a sad face. Capcom essentially ruined a fairly nice Street Fighter game by being greedy.
☹️👎🏽
Like 3 million units of this $60 game were sold, this was straight up unnecessary. If you want the extra money, just sell the DLC characters directly in the add-on sections of every platform available like you did with Vergil. At least that’s how I would’ve done it personally.
