I need to go on. A forest romp. With my dslr camera. So I can take pictures under leaves and flowers, moss on fallen logs, petals fallen into the dirt, the shimmer of flowing water, and maybe even little mud men I find along the way
I haven't gone on a proper hiking trip in a While. I miss turkey run state park
#speculation nation#all of those r examples of things ive taken pictures of. yes even the mud men.#they are just sooooo#idk i love nature. and i love capturing little details about nature that ppl often miss#it's ultimately hobby photography so theyre not masterpieces. but i still enjoy it very much#and some of them do end up turning out pretty decent sometimes!#i'll have to post some of my work here. i dont have the pics on my current computer tho. hmm#turkey run state park is my fav place to hike bc it's got River it's got Rocks it's got a section of Wooden Ladders#that r always so muddy bc the bottom of this ravine has a stream (also fun to romp in) so ppl track mud all up them#but if you hold onto the sides it's fine. mud generally only tracks on the rungs.#i REALLY wanna go stream romping. sinking my feet into cool flowing water... there is nothing quite like it#i love the river but the river is Forbidden Land. bc it is. a big river. ya kno.#though i did almost fall into it at one point hfkshxkd#im a chronic boulder climber when im hiking. if i see a rock that looks climbable then i climb it#this includes the time i decided to go down onto some rocks along the river. below the path's level#... and yes. they were mossy. and yes i slipped.#i ALMOST fell into the river. my feet took a lil Dunk. but i held on TIGHT to the rock i fell on#bc i had my phone on me and like HELL i was gonna let it go to. so i took a bruised leg in my desperation to not fall in#small price to pay for my phone not being fried lol#anyways i rly miss nature. proper nature. as much as i love my occasional visits to the river here it's just not the same#it's a sample of nature. but it's Nothing when compared to the grandeur of a state park...

You can let this ask sit for as long as you want if you don't feel like telling fish dick story now but I'd love to hear it sometime
you’re hearing it now because it’s like… my fav Egyptian mythology story to tell because it is just so Dramatique. And what I’m about to retell to you here isn’t even the fucking half of it.
I’m gonna simplify it a little and cut it short but its basically all the stuff leading up to what is known as the “Contendings of Horus & Seth” (or Heru and Set. The Heru involved in this story is Heru-sa-Aset, the one I worship, and his father Wesir(Osiris) whom I also worship alongside Heru. Set is the uncle of Heru-sa-Aset and brother of Osiris). I’ll use their Greek-ified names so that it makes more sense bc that’s what most ppl know Them by. Story below the cut:
So, it all started in a time when the Egyptian gods lived among men; the Age of the Gods, so to speak. All sorts of wild stuff was happening in this era (like Ra getting too old to be Pharaoh of the gods and retreating to the Great Sunboat in the Sky, and then getting mad about people not worshiping him and sending his daughter out to punish them for being bad, but she almost ends up killing everyone in Egypt and Ra’s like “oh FUCK, my constituents! gotta get my lioness daughter drunk and turn her into a sleepy cow goddess so she’ll stop murdering!” that’s another story for another day, tho).
So, there are these two deities, Geb & Nut (the Earth god and Sky goddess, respectively), who are the grandchildren of Ra, and their union brings five powerful deities into Being: Osiris, Set, Horus (the Elder), Isis, and Nephthys. Osiris marries Isis, Set marries Nephthys, and Horus the Elder is believed to have married Hathor, iirc.
Since Ra was no longer spending his time in Egypt, his great-grandson Osiris was chosen to be Pharaoh because he was the oldest & so was obviously the most qualified for the job. Well, Osiris’s little brother Set was a bit of the jealous type, and this was the first nail in the proverbial coffin (pun intended and you’ll understand why later). Later on, and I’m not 100% exactly sure why/how this happened, but Osiris’s OTHER sister (Nephthys, the one married to Set) somehow managed to disguise herself and seduced Osiris and so basically Set finds out that his sister-wife slept with his cooler older brother and, as you can imagine, Set wasn’t very happy about that. So he takes this betrayal as an opportunity to do be Nefarious and Scheme-y, as chaos gods do (Set isn’t evil though, so get that out of ur head. However, about to do some really impulsive shit here in a moment).
So, if I remember correctly, it is the day that Osiris is to be crowned Pharaoh before his divine court and they’re all having a little party, like everyone in the history of ever tends to do after big events. All of a sudden, Set strolls in with some of his lackeys, and proposes a party game! Fun, right? Well, it isn’t, because the events that follow the party game are gonna suck some Big Toes for everyone later on in a part of the story that I will not be getting to in this ask.
So, Set’s buddies haul in this big, elaborate, golden sarcophagus.
“I’ve got a game for you guys!” Set shouts at the crowd of eager gods, “I want you all to try and cram yourselves one at a time into this Death Box and whoever fits perfectly gets a zesty surprise!”
Imagine Set’s face curling into the Grinch Grin as he watches the gods get in line single-file to lay in a big, gold coffin. Imagine his grin getting wider and more bloodthirsty when Osiris sits himself inside of it.
WHAM!
The sarcophagus closes on top Osiris, locking him in from the outside. I’m pretty sure everyone was a little fucking confused at first about the “zesty surprise” Set had mentioned before, but they soon found out because Set & his henchmen hauled ass to the Nile, thew the sarcophagus into the water, and watched as Osiris went floating down the river in a glorified shoebox to wherever-the-fuck. Pleased with his Party Game, Set crowns himself rightful Pharaoh, conveniently forgetting that Osiris has an extremely faithful and powerful wife (Isis) that will stop at NOTHING.
Isis sets off on her own mission and she retrieves Osiris from his vacation in Phoenicia, but Set is already expecting that and when they come back he LITERALLY MURDERS OSIRIS and cuts his body into FOURTEEN DISTINCT CHOICE CUTS OF GODMEAT. Then the throws said fourteen pieces of Osiris into the river. Set really likes throwing things into the Nile, if you haven’t caught on to that.
Isis just goes, “fuck, not again. time to find my husband.” luckily, all of Osiris’s body parts decided to stay inside the Nile along different areas of the bank, and each temple to Osiris is built where it is believed his body parts where retrieved by Isis.
Isis finally gathers up all of Osiris’s pieces, and gets Anubis(who, in some cases is the product of Osiris’s one-night-stand with Nephthys, while others state he is Set’s son) to help put him back together again thru embalming his body like a mummy (this is where i think the tradition of mummifying the dead came from). Osiris’s body is almost fully completed when Isis realizes that Osiris is missing something…. something crucial:
HIS DICK
and so once again, Isis goes out into Egypt and searches for her man’s ween. turns out a certain species of fish mistook it for a snack and swallowed it whole, so imagine isis punching a fish in the gut and it hacks up a dick (in other variations of this myth isis skips finding the penis and just makes one herself out of gold and imbues it with some sort of magic). btw, this certain species of fish was like…. pretty much forbidden to be consumed in AE because of this exact legend. either way, she ends up getting Osiris’s penis back and gets pregnant with their son: Heru-sa-Aset, the first Egyptian deity I decided to reach out to. Osiris is reborn (this is why he is a god of rebirth. When he was alive he was a war/agricultural deity) but he’s become something different: he’s not really alive, but he’s not really dead either. Either way, the other gods decide that he cannot be King of Egypt in this state, so they work it out and make Osiris the Lord of the Dead, and from then on out he resides in the Duat (the Egyptian afterlife) as ruler of the deceased Egyptians he was supposed to rule in the Land of the Living (Egypt). This is why Pharaohs were believed to be an aspect of Horus when they were alive and then as Osiris after they died. He’s also the one that oversees the Judgement of ppl when they die.
Then the story then starts delving into the Contendings and you get a whole different tale about Set and Horus fighting each other for the Throne of Egypt, as they’re being judged by a council of gods known as the Ennead (which consist of Geb and Nut, Set’s parents and Horus’s grandparents.) That, in and of itself, is another fantastic and ABSOLUTELY BONKERS thrill ride that will make you think about severed testicles, extreme boat racing, and…….. you might not be able to look at an ordinary bowl of salad the same way ever again if you read the Contendings.

slam DUNKS questions at ur lore like uhhhhh.,, 1, 10, 11, 15, 22, 31, 38?
and the crowd goes WILD! thanks man! ♥ questions here. under a read more bc there’s a lot
Write from the perspective of an outsider ofyour lair, what is their first impression? How have they discovered this group? How are they greeted?
i have actually written a short story from the perspective of an outsider to the clan! you can read it here. i actually love writing from the pov of a guest bc there’s so much creepy stuff that goes on in the lair that the residents are like ‘eh w/e that’s just another tuesday’ about lol. just for you epher:
Something had guided his wings around to the west. Despite being sure he could see a canyon snaking through the red rock below, he circled around the grassy plainlands and thickly treed flats towards the strait in the north. He couldn’t explain why to himself even as he did so, and he won’t be able to explain why to anyone who ever asks him (not even the lair’s residents), but a tingle runs down his spine when he descends towards the treetops so he skims them rather than trying to find a place to land.
And he finds a cove. The canyon spits sand and rivers out from beneath the trees and into the ocean and here there are docks bustling with activity. The tingling eases and he drops lower before tucking his wings to his sides and landing on the loose sand with a puff.
At first he is met only by the wary stares of beastfolk as they trot along the docks and pack crates onto their slender skiffs. Then a dragon spots him. The Imperial is huge and blue and almost impossible to look at, shimmering in the sunlight as if she can’t properly be perceived by regular sight.
She is polite and cheerful and touches her heart with her hand when she greets him, a smiling dragon (he assumes, anyway, he can hear the smile in her voice but it’s hard to see when she’s so luminescent). She shows him along the beachfront, pointing out clan members and explaining their purpose. A guard is always along the docks - to keep fights from happening between guests, she tells him, but the look in her eye suggests something else. There are merchants to trade with, should he feel so inclined; her son among them. But when the little Nocturne speaks it’s with a lilt and a smile and a turn of phrase that make his hackles rise without even looking at the wares. She points out the Assembly, in case he has something he wants to take up with the clan’s leadership. And eventually they make it to the Lodge, a place for guests to stay - for a small fee - and run by a bright little light spirit the Imperial introduces as Passage.
As she turns to leave him to settle in, however, she imparts one last piece of information - advice, even - and the gravity in her voice sends his stomach plunging to his feet.
“Do not leave the docks.” Those are all her words, no explanation is given. But he shivers all the same.
And when the sun begins to set a faint mist rises around the Lodge, a soft song can be heard over the waves in the cove, a strange tug pulls at his ribs to draw him into the woods. Resisting the whispers is the hardest thing he has ever done. But he thinks, perhaps, to give in is to surrender one’s life to this place.

Are there any customs aroundhatching? Who is present? Is their any members who specialize in the care ofeggs or hatchlings? Are eggs ever hatched too early?
one parent is almost always present, but if not that’s okay too! the eggs are kept in an open sided series of rooms carved into the sides of one of the great big spires of rock that grow out of the canyon’s floor. it’s within the bounds of the lair’s magic so most outsiders will never see it. the lair is tended predominantly by inerri, but with help from select others including a collection of beastfolk who also use the spire to lay eggs/give birth when necessary. the nesting spire also doubles as the place where youngsters get their first education (dispensed by inerri, pencil, helix and anthelion).
there aren’t really that many eggs in the clan very often so when there are great care is taken to ensure they are tended properly. this often means making sure they are incubated to proper term. but yeah ofc sometimes an egg hatches early, some hatch late too.
-
Are there any gestures present? Similar to ourwaves, nods, etc
i assume this means gestures specific to the clan? bc i haven’t really thought about that much haha. there is a gesture used to signal respect where the first two fingers of a hand are touched to head or heart. it can be used when greeting dignitaries too, crossfire and seven do it a lot as representatives.
there’s also a little tail swish like okay. i use it a lot in my writing anyway where a dragon might use their tail to gently brush the tail of someone important to them - usually a mate - so i guess there’s that too. it’s a soft little thing like a real personal sorta pda, kinda intimate when done in public like an acknowledgement that this dragon is real special to them. idk if it counts tho.
-
How do religious beliefs play arole in everyday life? Is there an organised clergy?
lmao they have fen and shiana so naw not really a clergy. religion is very individualised. there is what everyone calls the temple tree which has shrines built into the branches and around the trunk (it’s a huge tree) and it’s sorta just accepted that if you wanna do the worship thing you can go there and do that but if you don’t wanna then that’s cool too. there are no public services or anything. fen looks after the tree and shiana is referred to as a priestess but no one seems to care whether that means anything religious or not.
-
What, if any, foods are considered a delicacy? How is food prepared? Is there any forbidden or taboo foods?
taboo? nah not really. cannibalism is a big no no though. and look. fiend ate her own children. so like. yeah big no to eating other dragons. no to eating beastfolk also. there are seasonal restrictions sometimes, piper, ravelin and osprey are always really careful and vocal about not overtaxing populations of any sort of animal so if the like... deer herds are small one year they won’t eat too many of them and all that. they’re p careful about it.
but they’re a clan that’s like super bound to the natural world and are big on their fruits n vegies n fishing n stuff like that. real classic hunter/gatherer type clan. so processed foods like sweets are hard to find in the canyon and osprey ships them in so they’re kinda like a delicacy haha. there’s no communal kitchen either, food is prepared by the individual in whatever way they prefer so sometimes that can be influenced by the flight they came from. the lair is real chill about that kinda shit tbh. ain’t no shits given. do what you like.
-
Are there any restrictions onmagic or spells? What and why? If not, does this cause any issues?
lmao no the clan is BUILT on magic. yeah this can be a problem tho like anthelion was all ‘yes guys i’m putting my magical alarm spell around this new lair so we don’t get surprised okay yes i’m doin this as we speak’ and they were all well MAYBE do smth different this time bc it didn’t stop fiend from killing HEAPS OF US LAST TIME and anth was all ‘fine then i guess i’ll do smth different’ and so she did some weird shit with the magic and now the lair is filled with magic that eats visitors????? like yeah that’s a bit of a problem.
sometimes the lack of restrictions means someone goes ‘oh fuck tarryn’s at it again’ and you look up and all the hatchling have grown like spines or weird purple blotches or dragons with fur are now all entirely BALD bc she put some shit in the water and now we all hairless great. or w/e like problems happen. it’s chill tho they live with it.
-
Are symbols a significant aspect of life? Ifthey are, what are symbols, what do they mean? Are certain symbols worn?
mmmm not really. the clan is SUPER relaxed about stuff so eh. they do have charms they give to any dragon marked for exaltation. you can read about pilgrims here. but other than that nah not so much.
maybe one day i’ll think of smth and go OH SHIT YEA that’d be a cool symbol to have !! but today is not that day so all my dragons are like lazy bums and they just hang out n chill all day lmao.

What Is The Best Time To Travel To China?
People planning to journey to China are all the time frightened concerning the cultural variations they may experience on their china touring holidays. You may go to plenty of sections of the Nice Wall which have been opened to public access, every possessing its own distinctive surroundings. The Badaling part is probably essentially the most visited by tourists attributable to it being accessible through only an hour's drive from the capital Beijing. The terrain is mostly pleasant for strolling, whereas the views from the top are simply incomparable. Throw out the stereotypes. Maybe once you consider China, you imagine a 3rd-world country where everybody wears little Mao caps and rides bicycles. In fact, those things do exist, however China is now a thriving fashionable nation with the types of amenities out there in most nations. Beijing and Shanghai are big metropolises much like New York or Sydney. It's a country where you can expertise 5,000 years of historical past and see the longer term on the identical time. I told you I might struggle to suit the whole lot into seven top picks, this record is just a tip of a large iceberg - as its not yet full - the three Gorges Dam is added as a bonus right here. What is going to grow to be the biggest power plant/dam in the world will certainly be value a visit. As well I might love to watch the massive tidal bore that happens on the yellow river as effectively. Fall in Beijing is another gorgeous time within the Chinese language yr. The sunshine is ample and the temperatures are delicate. Activities to take part in, in China, in the fall, embrace: selecting vegetables and fruit at native orchards and farms, visiting Aromatic Hills Park, which is thought for gorgeous autumn scenery, and visiting Yudu Mountain, one other spot recognized for wonderful fall beauty. Yangtze River Cruises and few different journey companies offer a downstream Yangtze River Cruise. The tour consists of spherical-trip air transportation from San Francisco; intra-China air and land transportation transfers, sightseeing; five nights in superior first-class inns; three nights aboard Victoria Cruises' ship; lodge taxes and repair charges; cultural entertainment; and $100,000 Computerized Flight Insurance for transpacific air ticketed by PDT. With a measurement of 23,300 square meters, the Lingering Backyard is way smaller than the Humble Administrator Garden and was initially also a non-public garden. In feudal China when the gardens had been developed, only the Emperor or noble (wealthy) families owned gardens so all of Suzhou's four famous gardens and mainly each other garden in China was personal. The area round Beijing has historical roots relationship as far back as 500,000 years. The city is without doubt one of the seven historic capital cities of China and is positioned on the northwest fringe of the North China Plain, adjoining Tianjin Metropolis to its east and Hebei Province to its north, west and south. Beijing has sixteen districts and two counties under its jurisdiction, covering an area of 16,800 square kilometers. In the Warring States interval (403 - 221 BC), the state of Yan established its capital right here, as such, Beijing is also commonly known as Yanjing to today. A short history about the Nice Wall tells us that it was built over two thousand years in the past as a key to guard the agricultural lands from invasion. The wall was inbuilt sections in between years by peasants, villagers and prisoners; which additionally displays the reason why the completely different sections of the wall painting completely different appears to be like due to the kinds of supplies used in the construction. These materials varied from grass, stones, earth and wood. Though the construction of the wall started within the early seventh century B.C., it was later in the course of the Qin dynasty; the sections were additional constructed and renovated to turn out to be an entire structure. This was the interval when China derived its English identify from the word “Qin” pronounced as “Chin”. In 2005, the travel information publishers Lonely Planet introduced that they were to begin publishing some editions of their books in Chinese language in response to the increasing number of Chinese language travellers. Three of the destinations for which Chinese variations of the journey e book are to be printed are Great Britain, Germany and Australia. After all, splurges and treats are everywhere. A comfortable resort room will cost round US$25-50 per evening, and lavish suites range from US$60-150 per night. For US$eight-25, a pair can dine at fancier restaurants serving distinctive, gourmet cuisines. When I first visited China in the mid ninety's, tourism was rapidly increasing. There have been nonetheless plenty of formally closed areas however there were also loads of choices to travel unbiased by the country. Reserving a train ticket or acquire a bus ticket could be a real challenge. I remember Hezhou, not removed from Xiahe in north China where I could only obtain a bus ticket if I had a Chinese Insurance, but to acquire such an insurance you wanted at hand over a bus ticket, proving you had been touring in that area. Up until now we've got largely talked in regards to the natural beauty that the country possesses. Naturally with the form of economic system that China has, loads goes into the event work and mission. Consequently, the metropolitan cities of the country have witnessed fast improvement and have taken new tolls in terms of tourist points of interest. The vacation spot query was resolved by a splendidly clear map they'd displayed nearly in all places, with one of many vacation spot "dots" very clearly labelled "Disneyland". The distance from the station I used to be in to Disneyland could very simply be discerned with train modifications clearly marked by means of color. Getting a ticket was a bit harder. cheap flights uk to india I used a ticket machine and inconvenienced the passengers behind me by causing a small delay which was rectified as soon as I discovered that the machine had a contact screen. All in all, this was all perfectly simple. By doing this, individuals can reach you inside and out of China if there's an emergency. When you have a few telephones, you can quick (txt) message each other (SMS). Additionally you'll be able to name your tourist guide, hotel and so forth when you have any major issues. It's a cheap solution to communicate. Forex: The official Chinese foreign money is named the renminbi ('peoples money'), RMB for short. The monetary unit is the Yuan. Hong Kong has its personal foreign money - the Hong Kong Greenback. The Hong Kong Greenback is pegged to the American Greenback. It is accepted in Guangzhou (Canton) and Shenzhen. Yangshuo is located in south China, about 600 km north west of Guangzhou and Hong Kong. With an international airport in Guilin, Yangshuo, at 66 km from Guilin is now easily accessible to the rest of the world. The Guilin airport has direct connections to Hong Kong and Bangkok amongst other international airports. Travel brokers in China that 'lose' members of their teams while in Europe are rapidly blacklisted with the visa issuing operations of the Embassies and Consulates in China. The number of permanently or quickly blacklisted ADS-accredited tour operators is steadily rising. The government takes rip-off drivers in all cities, Beijing and Xian particularly, very severely and for those who complain they will lose their license. That is their livelihood. Up to now I have had not one driver in three years that has not backed down and we have then agreed a value for the journey or solved our drawback. China is a rustic of epic proportions. From the broad open and empty panoramas of Tibet to the push and shove of Shanghai, from inexperienced paddy fields within the misty hills of the southwest to the scorched vistas of the Central Asian Silk Road, from the spicy dishes of Sichuan to the steaming dumplings of Manchuria - China has got it all. To see some of the most majestic natural landscapes in China, you must take a cruise down the Yangtze River. You might have a choice of cruising from Chongqing to Yichang, Chongqing to Wuhan or Chongqing to Shanghai. You'll be treated to a plethora of great scenery that you'll not soon forget after your cruise. Vacationers from south China, Nanning and Liuzhou usually take the express bus or the train to Guilin but there's another highway, crossing the hills and come just south of Yangshuo together in Lipu. Bike owner normally take 2 days from Liuzhou to Yangshuo this manner. There are sleeper buses doing this journey but it's sluggish and unpleasant. • Lodge security: Once in your resort room, be sure that the door and windows of your room are locked always. Answer the door solely after verifying who it's. It's all the time better to hold bottled water, as the faucet water accessible in lodge rooms isn't drinkable. Although you can travel numerous locations on your own but, in the event you actually wish to learn about each place, getting along a local journey information is the best way to discover the wonders of the 'Forbidden city.' And, this is true as a result of most excursions led by travel guides generally guarantee good lodging at affordable charges and quality services. Not solely do they guide the vacationers with historic details and values of vacationer-attraction locations, they also make preparations for commutation and all. In truth, a journey guide delivers you with ample of data about Chinese culture and traditions and makes you fully conversant in the place. -Chinese individuals are very shy and modest. They do not present emotion or affection in public, and are very uncomfortable with folks speaking bluntly. Most couples never kiss or maintain arms in public. When greeting each other, a handshake is usually the most physical contact they are going to have. It isn't unusual for two females or two males to be holding hands whereas walking down the road. Usually People assume this means that they are a couple, however that's not the case. It means that they are very close associates, and it is acceptable. It is not appropriate for two individuals of the alternative sex to carry palms. As a result of Chinese language international adoption requires journey to China, preserve this in thoughts, so you aren't offensive to the Chinese individuals. Watch out together with your actions and be cautious of what you say. • Pre-travel: Previous to departure from your country, guantee that a number of copies of your passport, bank cards, airline tickets, traveler's checks, itinerary as well as different travel paperwork are made, and that one copy of every merchandise is left with a member of the family back residence. -Chinese individuals have an amazing sense of humor. Like most individuals, they love to snort. In this disturbing time of Chinese language adoption, and adapting to a brand new culture, the artwork of laughter could serve you effectively. Preserve it gentle although, and keep in mind that sexual and political subjects are strictly averted. Chinese Worldwide adoption may be challenging in many ways, however in all facets of life, laughter always makes things slightly simpler. Be ready to snort at your self. Chinese language gastronomy is one other attention-grabbing activity it's possible you'll need to expertise during your travel in China. These embody Chinese language cooking styles and traditions of the varied ethnic tribes in China. If you would like to tackle this cultural expertise, Chinese language gastronomy excursions is your good answer to discovering the unique wonders of fine dining and a unique tradition in your China tour. SHELLEY: China's peak journey times are around Chinese language New 12 months (a while in Jan.-Feb., depending on lunar calendar), Could 1st, July-August, and the first week of October. The perfect time to visit could be from late-April by way of June, when the climate is heat, college students are nonetheless at school, and plenty of institutions are nonetheless on low season pricing. The fall can also be a nice time to travel without the crowds (but avoid the Oct. 1st holiday week) and see lovely foliage, especially in the north. However, it's not all plain crusing. The European PR machine is battling some unlucky stereotypes in relation to Chinese opinions of Europe and its individuals. "London is foggy, Paris is dear, Rome is soiled and Madrid is dangerous" - and these are the opinions of not only those that haven't but visited, but in addition those that have, as voiced in a collection of client focus teams we performed just lately. If you want to carry house some interesting momentous from your China travels, there are great-worth and good quality objects produced all over the nation. Beijing is famous for cloisonne enamel and recent water pearls; Shanghai is renowned for jade; Xian is well known for antiques and rugs, while Guilin is legendary for scroll work and bijouterie. Significantly, Suzhou and Hangzhou are well-known for silk and tea. SHELLEY: China is huge enough to offer something for everyone, whether or not you're searching for a fast-paced weekend in Shanghai, a trip into China's beautiful outside, or an immersion in centuries of custom and history. However don't come anticipating Paris or the Caribbean-China is not your average romantic getaway, however a vacation spot for the free-spirited and adventurous. No resorts or pampering right here-part of the excitement and romance of a trip in China is experiencing a brand new tradition and taking within the grit as well as the beauty. Sterling money will be exchanged for RMB throughout China except in very rural areas the place US dollars could also be more well-liked - in case you have some already bring them simply in case. Make it possible for once you take international currency into China that the notes are clear, unmarked and untorn, or they might not be accepted. Scottish banknotes will not be accepted. Travellers cheques are accepted in China, generally for a slightly better fee of trade than money. The main festivals of the Bai Individuals are the Raosanlin, the Torch Pageant, the Patron God Pageant and the Shibaoshan Mountain Track Pageant. An important of all is the Third Month Truthful in Dali which falls on March fifteenth on the lunar calendar and lasts 7 days. Whenever you decide to travel to China try to keep away from 1-8 Might (Labour holidays) or 1- eight October (Liberation Day) when onerous - working Chinese get a one week vacation. Most of the sightseeing spots throughout this time get swamped with large groups of Chinese people who have a different way of exploring - you possibly can recognize them very easily - they are all dressed in the identical colour clothes for easy recognition and led by a tour information with a megaphone whose strength is powerful enough to significantly injury your ears. Not to point out that you simply will not have the ability to get close to any of the sights and you won't be capable of hear your own information. Whereas flying in from the Hong Kong route you may already get a glimpse of the limestone mountains. The airport, located west of Guilin metropolis can be the north west border of the limestone mountain space. Traveling by taxi from the airport to Guilin gives you already an intro to what you will note in a while. As a vacationer spot, China presents a limitless variety of spectacular scenery and historic wonders. Typically Might, September and October are ideal for touring wherever in the country. Throughout June to August, vacationers typically visit central and northern China, as rainfall is prone to occur in southern China during this time. Furthermore October is good to travel wherever and any region in the country. Because of the recognition of this vacationer destination, large numbers of flights between China and countries just like the United States, France, Britain and Hong Kong have been added, making it simpler to make journey plans. There is one other technique to come to Yangshuo, from the south. Hong Kong and Guangzhou are usually not too far, a night bus trip away. The outdated road from Guangzhou to Wuzhou and then north to Yangshuo is no longer so much in use but it's a very good and partly scenic highway. Nevertheless, as many travelers from Guangzhou or Hong Kong include evening buses, they won't see much of the surroundings anyway. The newer street is far more scenic. Cyclists journey this street too but it surely's a busier highway. There are a number of towns with some very scenic areas although nothing comes near Yangshuo. Apart from, China has a wealthy variety of wildlife, unbelievable landscapes silhouetted with pristine pure beauty that makes it a best choice amongst varied travelers on this planet. The wonderful structure, unique cultures and traditions, delicious food, regional beliefs and heritage are among the reasons tourists are allured to visit. If you end up in China, you might be certain to be drifted away in a unique world - the tinge of oriental exotica and the flavour of Chinese traditions. Yet one more seemingly smart transfer on my part was reserving a lodge barely off the tourist paths to benefit from the lower charges. What a terrible mistake this was. When I acquired out of the foyer of my hotel I used to be in the midst of slaughterhouses and rundown warehouses, far from the trains and I had hassle finding any taxi stands; I found I had to travel a bit to get to the spots I wished to go to. Needless to say, I needed to rebook myself to a better location. In Hong Kong I like to recommend that you stay in the Kowloon facet and inside walking distance of Nathan Road. An important advantage to doing that is you can stay out late into the night time and nonetheless be walking distance to your resort. Additionally, Kowloon is an efficient hotel spot as a result of you may stroll near the bay and see the incredible Hong Kong skyline - one of the crucial well-known skylines on the planet. It's something to see, specifically at evening. I've stated it earlier than, and I repeat it here: "If paradise have existed, it'd very nicely have been right here in Yangshuo". Of course there are many other fantastic and magic areas to go to however Yangshuo has without a doubt one of the well-known and spectacular limestone karst rock formations. Flight offers. Air Asia is a low-price airline that flies all over Southeast Asia, including China and Hong Kong. Air Asia has open seating, but seniors 55+ can pre-board flights and get their alternative of the very best seats. Cathay Pacific, the official airline of Hong Kong, also typically runs seniors travel specials that, in the past, have included 50% off flights to Hong Kong. You have to be a member of their publication to seek out out in regards to the upcoming deals. They also run a Fear Free Fare for individuals 55 and over from chosen U.S. cities, with versatile travel dates, no change fees and diminished fares. A cruise down the third largest river on the planet, the Yangtze River will offer you an unforgettable experience if you love nature. Whether your cruise takes place between Chongqing and Yichang, Chongqing and Wuhan or Chongqing and Shanghai, you are guaranteed to soak in a number of the most stunning pure sights that you'll ever see. China is a spectacular country to visit but being a vast place to go will you be capable to all the sights? Then an escorted tour holiday is simply what you need. Have your self taken spherical this stunning country of contrasts on a luxury tour. Taiwan just isn't typically recognized as a sovereign country internationally and is due to this fact not thought-about eligible for membership in nonproliferation treaties or export control regimes. The United States has taken an ambivalent official stance on Taiwan's standing, recognizing neither the sovereignty of Taiwan nor the PRC's declare to sovereignty over the island. Taiwan is America's tenth-largest export market. Taiwan has Asia's fifth-largest navy and Asia's second-largest service provider-marine fleet (after China's). Taiwan can also be well-known for it is many night time markets and energetic temples, particularly Snake Alley and the Lungshan Temple. If all the traveling wears you out, cease in at certainly one of Taiwan's many pure scorching springs for some rest and relaxation. Safety. As in any nation, in China tourists can easily be targets of petty crime. Look around you for suspicious exercise and maintain watch over your wallet or purse in crowds. Do not follow any strangers that provide to help you or show you around, irrespective of how nicely-intentioned they might seem. Moreover, you possibly can utilize bilingual enterprise cards (typically with a map) provided by your hotel or tour guide in case you get misplaced. The historical past of Suzhou started in 514BC when it was established over the last years of Zhou Dynasty (1046-256 BCE) and shortly rose to prominence. Much of this prominence was misplaced in 306BC throughout a warring kingdoms interval when it was annexed the Chu Kingdom. A good travel firm I've found operates quite a lot of tours to China where all you wants are taken care of and you may loosen up and enjoy the sights and sounds along the way. I have learn quite a bit about this firm and so they have won many awards within the journey trade making them leaders available in the market place. The tradition of the Yangtze River can also be an attraction in itself too. As an illustration, guests from around of the world can participate in the Worldwide Vacationer Pageant of Three Gorges in Chongqing the place you can be taught extra about the region while being entertained by visible people reveals and exciting performances. Just the very fact for a lot of its historical past an average pleb like me would have been stored out is motive enough to go to. To see the final palace of the Emperors. Even right now take a look at a Google map of Beijing and its not arduous to spot the forbidden metropolis from the air. Not simply the dimensions of the place and the architecture, however the decorative particulars such as the Chinese lions and the Imperial 5-clawed dragons which hold interest right here. Whereas in Beijing which many might be for the Summer time Olympics 2008, there are a lot of temples and websites to see and a go to to the summer season palace also needs to be included. The brand new Olympic venues like the bird nest stadium and bubble swimming center shall be architecture wonders for many years after the video games have completed. One other foreign journey warning is to beware of buying coffee in China. It costs a ridiculous amount of cash. It appears there's also a scarcity of sugar and plastic spoons. So should you like coffee or tea in your lodge room chances are you'll want to bring your individual sugar and spoons. Lipton tea seems to be scarce too. Taiwan is also characterised by considerable rainfall and violent typhoon. It has an annual temperature of 22oC - the hottest month, July, averaging 27-28oC and the coldest month, January, 15oC - and an annual precipitation of over 2,000 mm. Taiwan is a country main in technology use. This report covers tendencies and developments in telecommunications, cellular, Internet, broadband, digital TELEVISION and converging media together with VoIP and IPTV developments. Taiwan is the world's fourth largest IC maker globally, and the second after the United States in IC design. Taiwan is among the many world leaders within the manufacture of LAPTOP Notebooks, TFT-LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY units, laptop peripherals and cellphones. China is undergoing an enormous commercial and creative upheaval. Among the world's most up-to-the-minute cities propel the land on with ahead-considering dynamism. Animated by a sense of pleasure, the Chinese are revelling in their country's ascendency. Regardless of the reasons you're drawn to China, the sheer tempo of change, visible in every part of Chinese life, will be sure that your trip is a novel one. There are occasions when it is not a terrific concept to visit Beijing. During national holidays, town is commonly packed. To keep away from the jam, don't go to the town throughout the Chinese language Spring Competition, which occurs in early February. International Labor Day, which occurs the primary week in Could, is another crowd-heavy occasion in Beijing. One final time to keep away from is the first week in October, which is the week of Nationwide Day, one other very populated time for Beijing. Except you're keen on the crowds or are going for these particular events, it's in all probability best to stay away. A wall 1000's of miles lengthy simply has to be seen. It not my first decide as a result of in actuality much of the wall is in ruins. Not all the wall was made from stone. Some sections were compressed mud, however the goal was the identical - to separate civilized China from the barbarians of the north. It failed at instances as the Mongols clearly showed, but it surely was still a powerful construction feat. There are restored sections of the walls for the vacationers, but to be trustworthy its the unique ruined sections that have more interest for me - in addition to more historical past and character. Take a raft just north of Moonhill and drift westwards with the limestone mountains on both sides. Extra serene you cannot get it. Or go to Xingping, one other spectacular area with loads of alternatives for mountaineering and hiking. But the best way is simply to take a bicycle and cycle within the space. With of and not using a information, you'll find small villages the place time appears to have stand nonetheless.

"today's special moments are tomorrow's memories"
Honestly, I don’t have free time. If I’m not working, I’m spending my time exploring the parks, and if I’m not doing that, I’m sleeping. (Or, since mom and dad brought me the fourth book, reading Harry Potter) (Holy moly donut shoppe it’s getting good) (But more on that later) Speaking of mom and dad visiting, I think I will look back at my time here viewing that as one of the highlights - so I think it’s important to document a little bit of it here. They got here on a Thursday night, and clearly they’ve missed me SO much because they drove straight to my apartment from the airport! After showing dad around my stomping grounds, I happily hopped right in their rental and we were off. We went to their hotel to check in, and decided on making our way to animal kingdom for the rest of the night (can’t waste a minute in disney!!) I had heard on the DL that animal kingdom had been doing practice run openings of their new nighttime show, Rivers of Light, which wasn’t due to officially open until the following night. Well, we waited and waited around for that to happen, but apparently it was never going to because they had perfected it enough to hold off on showing it again before the grand opening. So basically we just wasted our time for a little but it’s okay bc I helped sir and lady-noob-a-lot navigate and set up their My Disney Experience aps so we could link and get fast passes and plan for the following days! Also, before calling it a night, dad and I rode the dinosaur ride, and that was super choppy and scary, but super duper cool (prayers for moms neck to get better before returning so she can do rides like that next time!!). Friday, I had off work so the three of us went back to animal kingdom to continue the adventure. Of course, not without stopping at golden coral for all you can eat breakfast (ratch but soooo good!!!!). In DAK, we saw all of the shows, did pretty much all of the attractions (with the exception of rafikis planet watch lol), and walked through the animal treks that they have for guests. It was funny because dad and I were making fun of mom for wearing a poncho on kali river rapids, but then dad ended up being the one to get soaked on the ride lols. The day flew by and before we knew it it was time to get in line for the grand opening of Rivers of Light. (Just a little back story on the show - animal kingdom has kind of a bad reputation of being a “half day park,” meaning people will just go there in the morning before ending their day else where. They have never been able to have a firework show because of the animals or many night time activities, so they have been making multiple efforts to amp up the night life, and Rivers of Light is one of them.) The line to get in was INSANE. Luckily, we ran into my roommate and her boyfriend and hopped in line where they were, which secured us a seat that I’m not sure we would have gotten otherwise. The show was pretty awesome, they have stadium seating around a giant lake - which ends up being the stage for the show. They have floats and water tricks and fire and projections and music, which all come together to wow the crowd. And when I say the crowd, I mean everyone - including the little girl in front of mom who she felt the need to stranger talk with the entire time lol. After the show, we dipped and made our way to, of course, Magic Kingdom!!!! We actually got a lot done there that day too, as we planned our fast passes for rides like Peter Pans flight and splash mountain, etc etc. Like I said, can’t waste a minute in Disney, so we were there until the end and then I joined them back at their hotel on the pull out couch - oddly comfortable, btw. On Saturday we had breakfast at the hotel - complete with Mickey waffles. I actually had to go to work that night, so we decided to do Hollywood Studios in the morning since it is in walking distance from the boardwalk. We did all of the HS classics - great movie ride, toy story, voyage of the little mermaid, beauty and the beast show, and more! Mom and dad actually decided to come with me over to work, and were so kind as to drive the rental since it looked like it was ready to rain. I showed them around on the boardwalk as much as I could considering the downpour that had begun, and we had lunch/dinner at Big River. It was good. I went to work after that and sent them on their own little way to explore. I believe they actually continued on to the walk to Epcot and later returned to HS for the Star Wars fireworks, but you’ll have to ask them for details on that. Sunday I had to work again, but this time in the morning. When I got off around 6, I met them over in Epcot for our Soarin’ fastpass, dinner at the garden grille, and the tail end of illumiNations. Doesn’t sound like much, but that night actually ended up being one of my favorite parts of their trip. Soarin’ had always impressed me, but they just recently refurbished it to show you places around the whole world. For those of you that don’t know what it even is, you’re probably lost and I don’t even really know how to explain. But it’s cool. The Garden Grille is a rotating restaurant in the Land - all you can eat, family style, character dining. The food was delish but the characters had to be the highlight. Mickey, Pluto, Chip, and Dale all came up to our table and greeted us throughout the meal. Mickey was so cute and spent a lot of time with us. His antics included stealing moms phone to “talk” to Chris, stealing dads phone to take a selfie with him (and take up close pictures of Dale), rearranging all the plates on the table to be in the shape of Mickey heads, and going back and forth “conversing” with Chip. Chip and Dale were impressed that we were able to tell them apart, and weren’t afraid to reinforce our knowledge by pointing out the differences in their nose and teeth. Pluto was so cute as always. I got a hug from him and another picture because you can never have too many pictures with Pluto. We made him jealous that there was another dog barking in the land, but quickly assured him that he’s our favorite. He also made dad scratch his nose and like his little foot kicked when he did. Idk if I explained that right but ugh I just love him and it was adorable. After din, we caught the tail end of illumiNations, the fireworks in Epcot. While we didn’t necessarily have the best view, it was kinda neat to see them from a perspective I don’t usually get. I stayed the night with them again that night, lol just couldn’t keep myself away from the pull out couch. Monday I had off work again so we spent allllllll day in MK!!!!! So fun so magical. We were like fastpass machines and planned it all perfectly so we actually used 11 fast passes each that day!! Consequently, we were kind of all over the park and less than systematic about the layout, but hey at least we got our steps in! We even saw the 3 o'clock festival of fantasy parade and watched the wishes firework show sitting in front of the castle!! AND, we ate at Be Our Guest!! Honestly, I was slightly disappointed but I had real high expectations. It is the most in demand restaurant in all of disney world and we only got random reservations last minute because someone canceled. I had homemade lemonade, French onion soup, beef brisket, and a chocolate mousee cupcake thing. Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious, and it was really cool to be in the beast’s castle, but I just for some reason was expecting more. Speaking of delicious, don't worry! We tried the grey stuff! And it was just that - delicious. TBH I don't even know what to say about magic kingdom because if I documented every part that I loved about it I would be documenting the day in its entirety. We rode the carousel, which was kind of out of the ordinary for us but a cute fun little thing to do. I maxed out buzz light year, the usual. Around 9pm, we used one of our last fast passes for splash mountain again and then checked to see if we could get a new one. Get this! They had another for 9:15! So we rode again, and again. Really good times. The next day, Tuesday, was time for mom n dad to leave. I had work in the morning so they dropped me off and it was a sad time. Lynne cried, as per usual. Tim was pretty sad to say good bye, too, I could tell. They continued their day on for a few more hours in MK before the airport, and I absolutely adore them for that. I didn't hear too too much about that leg of the trip, but I know they had Mickey ice cream bars and that alone is enough to write home about. I can't believe how long it has taken me to update this, because now I can sit here and say they'll be back in 3.5 weeks! Time is going by incredibly fast and like I said I feel like I don't have a free moment. Really guys, I'm not even close to being caught up on the bachelor and that's saying a lot! I wrote this post on the bus to work because I forgot to bring Harry Potter lolol, so maybe I should start leaving the book at home more often. That's all for now, promise to be back soon.
