Moonlight rewatch part 1 of 16
Season 1 episode 1 No Such Things As Vampires:
The moment Beth and Mick re-meet was the moment 12 year old started shipping them together before I even knew what shipping was. I just love the way they look at each other.
Josef and Mick fretting over Beth’s article is funny especially considering she works for a “trashy tabloid magazine” the two are so worried about it and it ends up being nothing.
The first of many episodes Mick and Beth break into someone’s home, the couple that breaks and enters together stays together
Beth knocking Mick upside the head and threatening to mace him will never not be funny. He’s so unbothered and she’s ready to fight
Also the first of many episodes they steal evidence
Looking back at this as ah adult it’s much clearer now that Christian Ellis (vampire professor) is a creep. His eulogy at the funeral is a little iffy to me, while not entirely like gross it is very odd to me. This is our first introduction to him and he is just giving creep vibes.
Mick: “you’re kind of pushy aren’t you” oh you have no idea
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that but I can’t see what these girls see in Ellis, like even when I was a kid I could see it.
Elis @ Mick “you startled me” me @ Ellis “he should’ve done worse”
Carl “threesomes never end well” 😏 tell us more detective Carl
I like how we see the mask in Ellis’ office and have Mick sniff it and then a few scenes later show us the killer with the mask. It makes it look like Ellis but if it is Ellis’ why isn’t Mick taking him out. Is the professor being frame or does Mick not want to kill anyone and have “human justice be served” and have the police arrest the killer.
Mick being so protective of Beth is so cute and she obviously remembers him from her childhood but can’t place where she knows him and it bugs her. Mick wants to tell her but the story would sound so crazy and she’ll think he’s insane
Creepy professor continues to be creepy
After watching the unaired pilot it’s very clear they kept some of the episode footage and didn’t completely scrap everything, some of the footage shows up in certain scenes and almost feels like a different show in certain parts.
Mick and Coraline’s fight is a little heartbreaking, Mick clearly still loves Coraline and it must been awful to have to fight the woman he loves and for Coraline her husband is looking at her with disgust and confirming that they are officially over.
My immortal may be a tab on the nose but it’s still an amazing song and I love it.
Also I wonder how long Mick and Coraline were separated before she kidnapped Beth
Also also, I wonder if vampires have rules for turning children. Like I’d there a certain age where you just don’t turn kids or if it’s a do whatever you want but make sure they follow the rules and don’t expose us
I give episode 7.5 wooden stakes out of 10, it’s clear in some parts they we’re trying to get their footing. Overall I think it’s a good episode they give us enough information about the vampires and our characters that it is intriguing and doesn’t give too much away.
