Pancake Sundays
Read on AO3
Small, domestic one-shot with the Aftons
Sundays were one of the more calm and happy moments in the Afton Household. Sundays meant the weekend was over soon, and the kids needed to be back at school. Despite that, Evan and Elizabeth didn’t dread the Sunday mornings, because Sundays meant pancakes. Not from William, though, they had all learned a while ago their father couldn’t cook to save his life, but from their older brother.
Michael had taken up the cooking aspect after learning from their mother, Laura, who knew someone besides her needed to learn. Though, most of the things Michael could cook were simple, at least simple enough he wouldn’t burn himself, the food, or the house down. It wasn’t that William couldn’t cook due to lack of trying, it’s just everything he made would somehow end up on fire. He even burned water once, and to this day, none of them are exactly sure how he managed that.
Sundays were the one day of the week where Michael could actually take his time making breakfast, rather than throwing cereal together or chucking energy bars at his siblings because he overslept. Saturdays were his ‘me time’, so to speak, but sometimes father brought them bagels or muffins from the store on Saturdays. Maybe Sundays also put Mike in a good mood because that was when new episodes of ‘The Immortal and The Restless’ were on.
Pancakes were one of the simple foods that Elizabeth liked, mainly because Michael would pile in as many strawberries as she could stomach. Evan took his pancakes with chocolate chips, though they both would catch a glance of their older brother eating some of the chips from the bag as he put them in the batter. Michael’s pancakes had enough blueberries in them that the batter actually turned blue a few times. He didn’t seem to mind, though. He also drowned the poor food in so much syrup, Elizabeth and Evan were surprised he could actually still taste the blueberries.
Maybe Sundays were magical, because when father did join them, he didn’t seem as tired as he normally did. His own pancakes were full of so much fruit, you could barely tell there was any pancake batter. He nodded slightly to whatever Elizabeth was saying, and would offer his own advice about things, even if none of them asked. Sundays were one of the rare days Michael didn’t scare Evan or bully him. Sometimes, Michael would join in on whatever game his younger siblings were playing, even if Elizabeth often casted him as the ‘villain’, it was fun.
Maybe it was a simple thing to be happy about, but Michael knew his siblings appreciated it a lot. Monday, he’d go back to scaring and teasing both of them, threatening that if either of them mentioned anything about him loving ‘The Immortal and The Restless’ either in front of his friends or their own, he’d cut the heads off Evan’s plushies and off Elizabeth’s dolls. Father would go back to absentminded headpats or vague responses about how their days at school were. But, for Sundays, they could pretend to be a normal family.

Just You and Me Part 13
This may not be the most cohesive piece but I had to try and tie in season 3 realistically.
Tumblr media
Lucia stroked Rio’s hand. He was  currently still sedated, but the doctor said they’d ease up on the sedation soon. Agent Turner was standing outside the door, according to him, her husband struck a deal in his injured state. She didn’t know what she wanted to do more, kill this bitch who shot him or Agent Turner, but she stood down. When they wheeled him into the ER, everything stood still as she watched Julio work to save his boss’ life.
“I’m right here baby,” she whispered, “ain’t going nowhere.”
Everyone tried to get her to leave, to go home and rest for a few hours, but she refused. If anything happened and she wasn’t here, she’d never forgive herself. Marcus was currently with his grandmother and aunt, not really sure what was happening. She fell asleep, with her head resting on the hospital bed, however when she woke up, she found herself in their apartment, sound asleep on her bed. While they were separated neither one of them used this place, she opted to stay with Chuck and he moved into one of his emergency condos. Stretching she got out of bed and walked into the living area, to find her mother in law, Rio’s sisters and Charlie in the lounge, along with her son.
“Mama,” he ran towards her, burying his face into her neck, “I missed you.”
She held onto her son, placing kisses all over his face, “Hey baby,” she whispered, “I missed you too,” thankfully he didn’t ask about his father. Realising she was not  going to get out of their home anytime soon, she sat down and had breakfast with the group. A few hours later when she walked into his hospital room, she froze - the bed was empty and stripped, the entire room was empty. Her entire body went stone cold as she tried to process the sight in front of her. Only when a pair of arms caught her, was she aware that she was falling to the ground.
“Hey Lucia,” Mike held her as Mick closed the door behind them, “he’s fine Cia,” he squeezed her gently, moving her over to the bed, “the deal he struck with Turner is for show, he woke up last night and this morning Julio arranged that he be taken to one of our hotels along with Turner,” somehow she managed to take in what he was saying.
So for two months, she didn’t know where her husband was, aside from a voice recording he sent her a week after he was moved. For the entire time, she stayed at his mother’s house, not able to stand the sight of their apartment without him in it. She and Marcus slept in his childhood room and every night the little boy would ask about his father and when was he coming home, if he wasn’t asking after his father, he was speaking about his new friend Jane.
She was brought out of her thoughts by a knock at the front door. Opening the door, she froze.
“Hey mama,” before she could respond, Marcus raced out from behind her.
“Daddy!”
“Wassup pop,” Rio immediately crouched down, “how you doing?” he held onto his son, Lucia noticed that he didn’t lift Marcus up like he usually would, “I made you something,” her husband reached into his backpack, “wanna see?” pulling out a model plane, “It’s cool?”
“Yeah,” Marcus smiled, “can you come to one of my games?”
That’s how things came to light regarding Beth Boland and what happened two months ago. While Marcus was preoccupied with his new plane Lucia looked over at her husband. They were sitting by the dinner table in his mother’s house and it almost reminded her of the nights they’d sit and do homework at that very table.
“Lucia,” his hand twitched, wanting to reach over and place it over her’s, “mami I’m so sorry bout everything that went down,” this time he did reach over. They sat and talked things through.
It took another two days before they started making plans to move back to their apartment. Lucia was still seething at the fact that this woman not only interfered in their lives and almost killed her husband, but was trying to worm her way into their kid's life for some weird and twisted reason. She had to tell Rio that she leant money to her. That didn't go down well.
"How much Lucia?" his voice was eerily calm.
"Ten," she sighed.
"Grand?" he growled and not for the first time was he wondering how the hell none of his boys knew that she was friends with Elizabeth. He'd have to have a meeting with Mick and Mike after the urge to strangle those two disappeared.
The next day he called Mick and Mike to the apartment. Staring at the two of them, he rocked his jaw in frustration.
"What part of keep tabs on Elizabeth," he seethed, "did the two of you not understand?"
The two men knew better than to answer him, "Cos clearly you didn't," his hand twitched to grab his gun, "if you did, you'd know that she's been spending a lot of time with Lucia and Marcus," he snapped.
A few days later, she got a phone call from Beth asking to go for drinks and that’s when Rio sprang into action. That night when he came home, he was livid.
“Says she’s pregnant,” he clenched his fists.
“She’s not,” Lucia sighed, “we went for lunch a few days before you came back and she was on her period, asked me for a tampon,” placing her book down on the side table she looked at him, “papi please, can we just leave her and move on?”
“Lucia,” he sighed and sat down next to her, “mami you know it ain’t that simple.”
“Yes it is,” she snapped, “for once Rio, screw the rules please.”
“Ok baby,” he pulled her close, “aight," they both knew he wasn't gonna let it go.  After the doctor's appointment and meeting at the bar, Mick was sent to keep tabs on Beth.
"Make sure she knows why you're there."

Bath 1s V Bristol 1s 2-2
The 1sts set off on what they assumed would be a normal car convoy to Bath University. Shortly after departure Laura received a middle finger from a bus driver in response to her slight cut up at the traffic lights. Further along the route Ellen was starting to experience some car trouble, which accumulated in her tyre exploding on the motorway and flying across the road. Ellen “handled it like a champ” (Liz Robinson, 2019) and somehow managed to get safely onto the hard shoulder, whilst stating that “something was wrong” (understatement of the year). In case you didn’t know, Ellen is on the AA priority list so received help in no time. The drama didn’t stop there and there was great excitement when the police arrived to shut the motorway and remove Ellen’s tyre from the road. The news spread like wildfire and soon the majority of the football club, in true UBWFC spirit, were making light of the situation (funny so its fine, right?). However we would like to take this moment to thank the friendly stranger Mike who stopped to help the girls, Bill for picking up the stranded from the incident and questioning why we were even on the motorway in the first place, the AA for the existence of AA priority and their speediness in changing Ellen’s tyre, but most of all the LEGEND that is Ellen Brown who handled the incident with great serenity, kept everyone safe and calmly drove onto Bath afterwards (at under 50 miles an hour) and played the match for us like nothing had happened. HERO. The 1s eventually arrived at Bath in one piece, and after a few traumatising moments where Liz had to forcibly remove multiple piercings from people’s ears (Phoebe was left feeling slightly nauseous, but earring free) Bristol were ready for action. Despite the previous events Bristol started well and created some great chances, with Henna hitting the cross bar and Liz just sliding one past the post. This was too much for Chey to handle and she had to take a minute with her inhaler to get her breath back. Bristol moved the ball well and played some great balls wide for Chey and Keira to capitalise on. Good teamwork at the back from Trim, Laura, Phoebe and Ash stopped Bath advances, whilst support from Nancy cut out any attacks down the middle. Unperturbed by the days events, Ellen controlled the goal mouth and made some great saves to keep Bristol in the game. Liz worked tirelessly at the top to create Bristol multiple chances and Henna and Stella moved the ball around the Bath players with ease. Unfortunately, some good passing from Bath saw them go 2-0 up leaving Bristol with some work to do to get back in the match in the second half. 2-0 Bath. The second 45 minutes saw Bristol up their game and show Bath what they were made of. Substitutions brought Soph, Niamh and Anna into the action, with some slight confusion about the formation, despite Anna being given a piece of paper by Bill with all the relevant instructions on. Meanwhile, to Phoebe’s outrage, the ref was questioning why we couldn’t count out 10 yards by ourselves and did we actually learn anything at uni. Bath defenders couldn’t stop Sophie as she consistently drove forwards, which accumulated in a well-deserved goal to put Bristol back in the game. Bristol kept pushing for the result and were rewarded when a scrap around the goal ended with Niamh slotting it coolly in the back of the net, making it 2-2. Bath fought back and caught Bristol on the break, forcing Trim to make a slightly mistimed, but completely accidental, tackle to halt the attack. The 3rd goal was in sight and Bristol were mounting on the pressure, however there just wasn’t enough time to bag the win and they had to settle for the hard-earned draw. 2-2. Comeback Queens. We hope you enjoyed the guitar retreat Bill! Squad: Ellen Brown Phoebe Tate Laura Barrett Emily Trim Ashleigh Guest Nancy Gilmartin Henna Butcher Stella Gandee Morgan Anna Cairns Elizabeth Robinson Niamh Carty Sophie Price Keira Madden Player of the match: Sophie - for making a game-changing difference to the match when she came on, scoring a goal and assisting another Dick of the day: Ellen Brown - for the first motorway closure by a UBWFC member
