Thomas really executed "Mastermind" by Taylor Swift but 100% on accident. It was all accidental. The song is him relaying the events to Alastair later to make it sound like he is a ridiculous genius and not an awkward mess.

"I'm only cryptic and Machiavellian 'cause I care" is like. The best and funniest line when you consider "why are you so stupid, I brush my teeth, don't tell anyone"... and the fact that Alastair’s book is The Prince.
