TOP 20 SONGS OF 2020
Tumblr media
20. “BELOW THE CLAVICLE”- EARTHEATER
“The meaning hasn’t come up yet. It’s still under the surface below the clavicle.”
It isn’t just Alexandra Drewchin’s ear splitting soprano when she hits that impossibly high B, practically shrieking out the “cle” syllable of clavicle, though that’s undoubtedly when I first knew that Eartheater’s avant folk was for me- it’s also the cinematic, lush strings, both bowed and plucked (is that acoustic guitar or harp? I genuinely can’t tell), deepening and complicating the sonic texture of Drewchin’s study of parsing through emotions you aren’t ready to make sense of yet.
Tumblr media
19. “PUSSY TALK”- CITY GIRLS, FT. DOJA CAT
“This pussy so ghetto, this pussy speak ebonics”
“WAP”’s funnier, classless Irish twin, though it’s important to note “Pussy Talk” came first. Yung Miami and JT enlist Doja Cat to expound on everything their pussies deserve and will absolutely settle for nothing less than. And why should they when they’re spitting out verses this inspiredly hilarious with such confidence and flow?
Tumblr media
18. “LICK IN HEAVEN”- JESSY LANZA
“Once I’m spinning, I can’t stop spinning...”
Jessy Lanza is talking about losing your cool, letting your emotions get the best of you and lashing out instead of letting cooler heads prevail, but when that earworm of a chorus hits- “once I’m spinning, I can’t stop spinning” - I can’t stop spinning. I’m that woman on the single art, a wine mom lost in the delirium of the dance floor and in Lanza’s hypnotic, fragmented rhythms.
Tumblr media
17. “GASLIGHTER”- THE CHICKS
“Boy, you know exactly what you did on my boat!”
“Gaslighter” finds Natalie Ames and her Chicks at their most simultaneously ruthless and ebullient, ripping Ames’s ex-husband Adrian Pasdar a new asshole and ratcheting up the righteous anger of “Goodbye Earl” tenfold, channeling it into a glorious wall of sound in what might be their most rousing, emotionally resonant chorus in their storied career.
Tumblr media
16. “HANNAH SUN”- LOMELDA
“Hannah do no harm...”
While “Hannah Sun” begins as an exquisitely observed rumination on grappling with long-distance, pining for someone who’s a continent away, it gradually becomes clear that Hannah Read blames herself for putting the distance between her and the subject of her longing, and that the distance isn’t strictly literal. Skittering synths (or is that distorted flute?) complicate and enrich the texture of the song, allowing it to build organically and stunningly towards a heartbreaking plea to herself- “Hannah, do no harm.”
Tumblr media
15. “FIRE”- WAXAHATCHEE
“And when I turn back around will you drain me back out? Will you let me believe that I broke through?”
When I’d drive back and forth between Dallas and Austin over and over again when I was in college, I’d often get off I-35 past Waco and take the back roads through towns I’d never heard of, the sun setting spectacularly behind the titular hills of Hill Country that were beginning to roll out in earnest. I think about that a lot when listening to “Fire,” a song dripping in rural Americana that was, unsurprisingly, inspired by a road trip. We’ve probably all been Katie Crutchfield as she crossed the bridge into West Memphis- alone in the car, awed by the simple beauty of the American countryside, making speeches to ourselves about our past mistakes and figuring out a way forward.
Tumblr media
14. “3AM”- HAIM
“On the screen and in my jeans, just make me feel good.”
On an album full of genre departures and decidedly darker themes than we’ve typically heard from Haim in their near decade of syncopated bubblegum pop rock, “3AM” stands out not only as their most effective stab at pastiche, slipping into the trappings of contemporary R&B with shocking ease and gusto, but also as their most unabashedly fun track in their entire oeuvre. “I think you can hear the amount of joy and laughs we had making this song” Alana Haim tells Apple Music, and you absolutely can.
Tumblr media
13. “QADIR”- NICK HAKIM
“We’re sinking down a hole without thinking about our loved ones who might be shrinking...”
I often wonder if I’m putting enough effort into maintaining my relationships with friends I don’t see regularly, who live several time zones away, living their own lives while I live mine. When the thought of sustaining simple correspondence becomes overwhelming, it’s easy for months to go by before you realize you haven’t spoken to one of your closest friends. “QADIR” plays less like a eulogy for a friend gone too soon (though of course it is that) than a plea to the listener to put in the work. It’s worth it. You never know when it’ll be too late.
Tumblr media
12. “LEVITATING”- DUA LIPA
“Glitter in the sky, glitter in our eyes shining just the way we are.”
Just a few bars of that delightfully bouncy, extra-terrestrial beat is enough to launch me into space. It’s so refreshing to hear a song that remembers that pop is supposed to be joyful and is best when it’s a bit silly. When discussing this track with Apple Music, Dua Lipa cites Austin Powers as inspiration, elaborating that “if I do a video for this, Mike Meyers has to be in it.” Can’t you just see them together, performing a farcical pas de deux of seduction like the spiritual successor to “Beautiful Stranger?”
Tumblr media
11. “RIQUIQUI”- ARCA
“Love in the face of fear! Fear in the face of God!”
Arca’s made a career of harnessing chaos and somehow making sense of it. On an album that finds her embracing more traditional, accessible song structures, “Riquiqui” is a reminder that even when working within an AB structure, she’s still breaking rules left and right and having a blast doing it. She’s also never sounded so ferociously empowered in either her femininity or in her Venezuelan identity, rattling off local colloquialisms with affection and verve without a second thought as to who’s going to understand it.
Tumblr media
10. “FANTASY”- AGAINST ALL LOGIC
“I think about you all the time...”
Or, the musical embodiment of this gif:
Tumblr media
When Nicolas Jaar’s tormented synths and crunching beats give way to Beyoncé’s unmistakable alto, it is indeed quite the shock. But should it be? Even if 2017-2019 finds him ditching the dancefloor in favor of more severe, unforgiving soundscapes, his already varied career has shown us nothing’s off limits to him. So why not reinvent Beyoncé’s iconic “Baby Boy” into an industrial, vaguely sinister certified bop that arguably surpasses the original?
Tumblr media
9. “PEOPLE, I’VE BEEN SAD”- CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS
“If you disappear, then I’m disappearing, too.”
“People, I’ve been sad” plays out with the vulnerability and intimacy of a tumblr text post you put out in the middle of the night, only to hastily delete later when it gets no notes. It forgoes flowery language in favor of just getting to the point. “I’ve been sad.” Héloïse Adelaïde Letissier blows up this deceptively simple sentiment with richly layered textures and a big screen gloss not to offer any remedies but instead to offer solidarity. We’re all in this hell together.
Tumblr media
8. “DESCRIBE”- PERFUME GENIUS
“Can you just find him for me?”
Mike Hadreas has never sounded so hopeless. Utilizing harsh, rattling guitar that would make Kevin Shields swoon, he conveys the experience of being so estranged from happiness and joy that you need to rely on others to describe the sensation to you. But how, when exploring darker textures than he ever has before, does he make despondency sound so divine?
Tumblr media
7. “4 AMERICAN DOLLARS”- U.S. GIRLS
“No matter how much you get to have, you will still die and that’s the only thing.”
Meg Remy picks up where she left off on “4 American Dollars,” reviving the subversive pastiche she mastered on In a Poem Unlimited, this time harnessing the power of funk to dismantle the fallacies we’re taught about the virtues of capitalism. Heavy stuff, but Remy makes it less didactic than joyous, ensuring the listener will be singing “I don’t believe in pennies and nickels and dimes and dollars and pesos and pounds and rupees and yen and rubles” until they start to wonder if maybe they shouldn’t, either.
Tumblr media
6. “STUPID LOVE”- LADY GAGA
“I freak out, I freak out, I freak out, I freak out!”
Due to a healthy spirit of contrarianism mixed with a touch of internalized homophobia and genuine bafflement at her universal appeal and praise, I was a proud Lady Gaga hater for as long as she’d been a cultural entity. I just didn’t get her at all and loved that about myself. Annoying, I know. 2020 was the year I was finally ready to let that all go. Just before the world fell apart in March, I was out at Flaming Saddles (RIP) with friends the night this song came out and by the sixteenth time it played, I understood why it was inducing such hysteria. This was a cultural shift. After a frustrating near-decade of Gaga subverting expectations so thoroughly that she was actively working against her strengths and sabotaging her cultural ubiquity in the process, coupled with the most frightening era of political upheaval in our lifetimes, she was finally ready to save us and be Lady Gaga again. Booming synth, drag sensibilities, absurd thematic conceits- all was right in the world. For the first time in a long time, people had something to be hopeful about, and as I danced that night, I felt that hope, too.
Tumblr media
5. “SHELLFISH MADEMOISELLE”- RÓISÍN MURPHY
“How dare you sentence me to a lifetime without dancing?”
As soon as that bass starts (the funkiest bassline in the history of music?) it’s like Róisín Murphy’s snake charming oboe, coaxing even the most stalwart curmudgeon onto the dancefloor and keeping them there, dancing frantically and involuntarily like the citizens of Strasbourg in 1518, trying their best to keep up with Murphy who isn’t even breaking a sweat, commanding the masses with a sultry remove, beckoning you closer, pulling you inexorably deeper into the mass of gyrating bodies and whispering in your ear “come and have a dance with yer mum.”
Tumblr media
4. “PARTY 4 U”- CHARLI XCX
“I only threw this party for you...”
As PC Music / Bubblegum Bass / whatever you want to call it enters its second decade, Charli XCX proves not only that there’s still new textures to explore within it, but also that no one can exploit its artifice to get down to emotional truths like she can. How can she make something this slick sound so vulnerable? “I only threw this party for you” she croons over and over again over glorious syncopated synths that build exquisitely, reaching their climax only to immediately fall away, until it’s just her and her trusty autotune, pleading with the subject of the song to just come to the damn party. But they won’t, of course. They never do, do they?
Tumblr media
3. “WAP”- CARDI B, FT. MEGAN THEE STALLION
“I want you to touch that lil’ dangly thing that swing in the back of my throat!”
Sometimes you just immediately know you’re living through a significant cultural moment. No, not COVID. I’m talking about the experience of hearing Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s instant classic “WAP” for the first time, a titanic meeting of the minds that finds both of them at the apex of their cultural influence and at their most undeniable. Can the argument be made that these two aren’t the two best rappers in the game right now? How could you hear this inspiredly filthy sex positive juggernaut, where Cardi and Megan are trading the sickest verses of their careers, and not think these two deserve the world?
Tumblr media
2. “KEROSENE!”- YVES TUMOR
“I can be your baby in real life, sugar. I can live in your dreams.”
If the 2010′s were all about the pop-ification of all music, trading in live instrumentation in favor of polished synths, 2020 forcefully announced the return of the electric guitar when Yves Tumor and Diana Gordon’s back and forth lustfully submissive declarations of desire suddenly gave way to that nasty guitar rip lifted from Uriah Heep’s “Weep in Silence” to announce yet another cultural shift in a year chock full of them- rock and roll was, indeed, here to stay.
Tumblr media
1. “I WANT YOU TO LOVE ME”- FIONA APPLE
“I move with the trees in the breeze, I know that time is elastic.”
We live and we learn. Years spent soul searching and on self-discovery shape us into better, smarter people, progressively knowing and understanding ourselves and the world around us more and more clearly, but Fiona Apple knows that none of that can quell the ferocious desire to be loved by someone. By anyone. By you, whoever that is. We can know that time is elastic and that when we’re gone all our particles will disband and disperse and then we’ll be back in the pulse, and we can know that none of this stuff actually matters, but still- we want, we want, we want.

Time to Continue with part 83!
Tumblr media
Dave is correct. Such matters are never simple. The ways of the heart are extremely complex, and while it wants what it wants, whether it has the heart to actually go through with whatever that is is an entirely different matter altogether. But that, and the wonderful weird silliness aside, I believe Dave was suggesting that there was more to it insofar as there are other factors than just his own “gay awakening” involved with the current difficulties. We shall see just what they are, and how much they have to do with Jade... now.
Tumblr media
100% on the money. I am not sure that technically qualifies as incestuous, though, my man.   I am also not 100% sure that you are correct in this matter, other than the fact that it may make her rambunctious and more confident that she is playing a successful role as whatever strange matchmaking hate girlfriend she envisions herself as.  (Not that I don’t think that humans could successfully play the part of a kismesis; rather, I am simply nooot sure Jade is actually doing well at it, or that she has quite the “stuff” for it, at this point. We’ll see.)
Tumblr media
***laughs hysterically at this wonderful awkwardness***
Tumblr media
That she has.  And honestly, from a Trollish lens, it would seem that she’s had the “hots” for Karkat’s black concupiscent quadrant for quite some time, as well.  (Man, that is sortof weird of her, to go out of her way to exclaim that to John... .    Especially with the distance between her and accomplishing that goal. You’d think she’d at least want to get them to show some interest before doing that.  Does seem very puppy-like of her, though. Hmm~)
Tumblr media
Honestly, John is right in that thought.  Mind you, trying might not be the worst idea in ideal circumstances (because at least he could say he tried, and it wasn’t working out for him; thus hopefully become able to get Jade not to push further, and salvage the friendships of everyone involved), but at this point, it’s honestly a great big gamble for Dave. He doesn’t have much romantic experience, and he’s not really sure 100% what he wants.  Not only that, he clearly feels pressured and uncertain with regards to the matter, and that is not a good point to embark on any relationship.  It leaves the door open for all kinds of potential abuse, because things aren’t starting out with firmly established boundaries and the necessary mutual respect for the desires of each person involved upon which all healthy romances are founded.  If it were me, I would most certainly advise against Dave bending to the pressure from Jade like this. If she wanted to make a potential situation between the three of them work out, Jade needs to understand that patience will need to be involved. She’s immortal, Dave’s immortal, and while Karkat may not be, they do have quite a bit of time before they’ll have to worry about him aging too much to make it work, I’m sure.  This is simply a horrible mistake from all parties involved, if it’s going to swing into effect as things are now.   Of course, mistakes do not have to be totally damning, and learning from them is necessary for growth, so... we’ll see how things work out.
Tumblr media
...  I guess Megalodon MIGHT have technically been classified as a paleolithic megafauna, technically, though its existence mostly extended much further back.   I do appreciate his continued enthusiasm about paleontology, though, and I understand that his metaphors can get convoluted and distracted, though.  On that note?:   Is that reference to the Meg supposed to be an association with Karkat’s mouth, and how his teeth are apparently quite disorganized, sometimes sticking out of said mouth when it’s supposed to be shut?   I mean, that DOES give a bit of a shark-like image.  To be fair, though: no. It was to eat whales, not other sharks. Big Game Hunter. (I really do appreciate the double meaning of his last line of the above quote.  His uncertainty and circuitous path through the conversation really does show how anxious love can make a person, especially when things are rocky.)
Tumblr media
I don’t necessarily think that that is correct---   that is to say, I am not sure that e actually was “leading her on” by dodging the issue for so long.  This would require him to imply he did in fact have that same sort of desires as her, or at least that he was willing to reciprocate.  Based on what we’ve seen, at the very least, I am not sure that he has actually done that. (Man, it must have been weird for Game Over Continuity!Dave to see Davepeta once they joined the fight--- to know on some level that he could sense something familiar, there, but to have no idea what the heck was going on with them~) That said... no. I’m not certain that even if he had been leading her on (that is to say, showing interest, but never committing), he would actually owe it to her unless he had been using that to exploit her in some way.  Particularly, if this was done because he was uncertain if he’d be able to go through with anything, and then he then decided/will have decided to just tell her he’s not interested, I don’t think that this would be wrong at all.  Certainly, she’d have good reason to be upset, but while she’d have lost a significant deal of time, at least he’d be being true to himself instead of potentially doing her, himself, and Karkat greater harm by forcing himself into something that has a good chance of failure+painful consequences. Sorry if this seems overly negative. It’s just... these are not the ideal circumstances, and honestly it’s sortof making me uncomfortable.
Tumblr media
(H3H3H3~)    Dangit, that “ghosted” business is sortof painful, given the natural association with John’s death in the Meat Epilogue. @w@ I am not 100% sure John’s mind is fully realizing the implied 3 person relationship that is being talked about as a potential possibility, by the way. With the way he’s talking, it makes it sound like he’s saying to use the coin to choose Karkat or Jade, rather than yea or nay to a situation with both of them.   Particularly with the reference to his logic, and the “same chance” business. Either that, or John is sortof wishy-washy and weird, and is in fact not keeping a constant goal/argument/side as he proceeds in this conversation.
Tumblr media
It’s beautiful to see Dave suddenly becoming confident, now that it’s in his wheelhouse.   And sortof awkward and sad, seeing John flail about like this.  But he’s always been that sort of silly jokester, so I will embrace this and accept it.
Tumblr media
It’s funny how one can get these intuitions about things, yet be unable to properly explain them, at times.   Of course, this rarely happens to me, because I’m a bit of a windbag (joke at Egbert’s expense), and am willing to look up words that may or may not fit in order to help me organize my thoughts, but it *is* certainly a phenomenon which I am familiar with.  Particularly, in the context of attempting to make connections with others, by which they may or may not latch onto and be able to infer the true meaning you’re trying to get at.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... Yeah, that is definitely one of the things being a friend is all about.  And sadly... I think Dave is right.  He probably does need to talk to Dirk.  Not that it is likely to do all that much good. Dirk’s not all that great, as far as Heart players go, and as a brother, he’s been remarkably distant with Dave, but... well, it somehow seems right, even if it’s something dreadful and somewhat repulsive.  Given that Dave is having a hard time figuring this matter out, and he’s not able to properly latch on to John’s nonsense, this is probably the best option.
Tumblr media
I mean, it got Caliborn out of a particularly nasty bind, one time.  ;D
Tumblr media
Yeah...  I wouldn’t necessarily suggest that “cracked” will apply to all situations, but having someone who knows and understands you-- how vibrates on the same wave-length, you might say --is absolutely necessary for some issues.
Tumblr media
This is incredibly silly. I don’t think that is appropriate on the part of the proprietor, all things considered.  Moreover, it strikes me as curious insofar as I don’t think anyone ever came to try and help them order?    I don’t know. Maybe I just don’t understand how the fanciest restaurants work.  Or something might have happened while John was gone.  Them noticing he was gone probably had something to do with it, but... still pretty ridiculous, regardless.  I mean, who even kicks out a pair of gods? XD
Tumblr media
(Super cute.)
Tumblr media
How very true.   Time is something difficult to properly hold onto even in the best of times. That one is unequipped to do something that might make a difference does not necessarily mean it’s your fault that bad things happened. For example: one should not blame terrified bystanders for not mobbing a lone gunman in a mass shooting and forcibly stopping them before anything can happen, or at least partway through.  At times, life will present you with barriers of that sort that are almost impossible to overcome, and one has to think of what can be done for the future, rather than dwelling on the past. Of course, the cataclysm is in Dave’s future at this moment, and John could technically do a whole lot of other things to make events work out; yet as the narrative subtly suggests, while the possibility technically exists, it may not be something that is feasible--- for not only is Gamzee’s presence passively screwing with everything, now (and in particular, messing with characters’ abilities to make important choices well, probably), but there is the issue of the narrator potentially manipulating things, as well.   If they are being subtle enough, rather than trying to force certain actions like Dirk did at certain points, it is difficult to oppose such a being’s control. Man, I wish I knew for certain who was doing said narration, right now.

Part 2(Entry #1) Describe your favorite part and make a Prediction.
Book Title: Five Flavors of Dumb by Anthony John Favorite Part: The Challenge and the Deal The Challenge: Piper has one month to get the rock band Dumb a paying gig. The Deal: If she does it, Piper will become the band’s manager and no to discrimination’s.
Prediction: Although, Piper can’t hear Dumb’s music, but with growing self-confidence, a budding romance and a loved by her family, I can predict that after her concert she’ll become a successful band manager. Because, she discovers her own inner rock star and what it truly means to be a flavor of Dumb. Moreover, she has a good voice that came from her kindly heart
Book Title: Five Flavors of Dumb by Anthony John February 5, 2018
You know how people say that something is made of awesome? Well, this book is made of Awesome. It was heartfelt for me to know that the main character of this book, is a “deaf”. She is Piper Vaughan an eighteen years old teen, who dreams to be a Rock star in terms of her condition, and asking for respect by the people surrounds her. This Novel, Story of Dumb, five separate flavors, struggling to be whole. It’s the story of how Piper Vaughan, deaf girl, learns that you just have to feel the music to be a rock star.
This Novel reminds me of our Vice President in High School way back then. He is Ramskie Sukig, Like Piper Vaughan Ramskie is also a deaf, but in terms of being a deaf he is our Class Vice-President and at  the same time our best musician in our school. Although, there comes a point that some of our classmates and schoolmates doesn’t like him and believing him in his talent, others are discriminating and discouraging Ramskie, to quit and stop his dream for being a school musician because he is a deaf in the first place. But Ramskie didn’t mind it, In fact he proved to himself, to our Teachers, to us that being a deaf is not been a hindrance to achieve his goal. He used his heartily perspective skills not his listening skills. And because of that when every strums and beat of the sound, thought us that Ramskie our deaf classmate is heartily and gracefully singing his song to the fullest. Like Piper in this Novel, many people discriminating her, but at the end she continued to strive harder to make things impossible to possible.
When I read this Novel, I wonder why some people underestimates Piper? Is it Piper intelligent enough to face this consequences? or at the end of this novel Piper might discouraged and stop to continue her dreams. Then due to this, what’s the main key to make Piper more motivated?
Therefore, I conclude that people underestimates Piper because of her disabilities. For them, Piper is out of nowhere and a disgrace. But what I’d like most is that Piper Vaughan is an intelligent enough to face this challenges. She said that: “Many people dislikes me, but one thing for sure likes me and that is my family”. After all, that’s the only thing that motivated Piper, the untiring loved and support of her family. In the end, I must say! Piper Nailed It.
Part 2 (Entry # 2) Author’s Strong Imagery in the Story (Simile).
Book Title: I was Here by Gayle Forman “I failed her in life. But I won’t fail her in death.” Meaning: Although Cody felt that she failed to rescue the life of her best friend Meg, but she’d promised that she won’t not fail her again in life after deal
Part 2 (Entry # 1) Reflective Comments
Book Title: I was Here by Gayle Forman Issue: Suicidal Stage of Meg, Cody’s Bestfriend. My statement:       Suicide does not solve the problem at all, the point I’m trying to make is, If Meg committing suicide with the idea that she can ran away her problem and escaped from reality then she’s definitely wrong. The Author Gayle Forman purpose here, is to make things clear and avoid tension that in terms of problems, Suicide is not the best remedy.
Book Title: I was Here by Gayle Forman        February 8, 2018
I felt that this  book is so breathtaking. While I’m reading this Novel, I don’t know how to bring up the fact that this relates Cody’s experience with loss, the way she reacts after her best friend, Meg committed suicide. I must say, Cody would blame herself emotionally and spiritually. I remembered the movie “A Best friends Journal” by Wicks Stanley Dickson. In the first place, losing a best friend, is like losing yourself. Your best friend is one of the most treasure above all, aside from your family. Your best friend is the only one who can understand and reminds your worth when you are out of not. The one you can lean on in terms of downfall, ups and downs the only remarkable treasure that you have. But what if, there come’s a point that your best friend leaves you in an unexpected way. Like in the Movie, both characters here, Helen and Emily were best friends. Just like in this Novel       (I was Here) the way Cody’s loss her best friend Meg is so Nerve-wracking and Sentimental. When I’d  merge the flow of this Movie and Novel, Their situations is not quite too far. Both of their best friends committed suicide. (Meg in Novel) and (Helen in the Movie). After all, Cody is brave, although her best friend passed away she always reminds herself that only Meg is her one true friend. It might be their friendship doesn’t last longer, but it would continue their journey in Life after Death. While I’m reading this Novel, it pups up my heart and I can’t keep my self from crying. I don’t even know why, but one thing for sure and that is I don’t want to loss a best friend.
I’m just curious and nothing to deal with it. Does suicide is the best way to escape from reality? Is it can lead you to better life ahead? then why does people, and also May in this Character committed it? What’s the main point of this Novel? Literally, I cannot figure it out, why is this happening!
After a long hours of wondering, Now i must say that people who die by suicide, don’t want to end their life, but they want to end their pain. Maybe for May, suicide is her best solution to her problem. The point of this Novel, is to make clear things that in terms of depressions, suicide is not the best way to escape it. This Novel “I was Here” is the best assets of friend ship, love and companion in certain issues like suicidal stage and others. Then they’ll know suicidal is not right.
Entry # 2 (Part 2)- The Fault in Our Stars Drill Song.
To be presented in our class as a group. With the melody of Mary Had a Little Lamb. <3
It is heart-whelming that you’d love, and to be loved by someone. I really admired Augustus in that way. He proves to Hazel that no matter what happened, his love for her will lasts forever. I’am deeply madly in love with them! <3 ENTRY # 1 The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (Part 2) Favorite Quote.
Long Lasting Love
Why does it hurt so much to get up? Oh how i wished I could dream Some escape from this prison called reality What a Nonsense Love! My head is never my Safe Haven I just want a day without worry No more stress, no more worrying about finding you No more escaping from the truth As we look up into the stars I just want to look in your eyes I just want to feel you next to me And makes this nonsense love as reality.
Entry # 2/ Part 2  Safe Haven (Poem)
The pain from an unhealthy relationship Is a gift disguised in the form of lesson. ENTRY # 1/ Part 2 Safe Haven (Drawing)
Book Title: Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks                               February 14, 2018
I felt it was hard of Katie to share her past to Jo, Alex and also to her coworkers. But what happened next surprised me, I didn’t expect that Katie undergoes and suffered maltreatment in her past. I guess, Katie felt depressions emotionally and spiritually. That’s why Katie wants to escape from reality, so that when Katie finds a place where she feels safe, far away from abuses and others she begins to settle in and explore the community which is South port. Otherwise, i really enjoyed reading Safe Haven, my minds keep on thinking as well as my heart is flattering and I felt like I’m in Katie’s character as well. After all, there is a line in the Novel about Alex that i like most and I could connect it to “He was surprised though by the almost teenage like enthusiasm that he felt at the prospect of seeing her again”. Way back then, when I was in 4th year High school I also had a crush. That feeling of excitement, when you see your crush. Every time I see him, I always got stuck with my illusions between us before. Well, I must say it’s a mixture of happiness and sadness feelings ever. Like Alex and Katie, I’ve also gone through tough things in my life, but I didn’t  give up hence I start all over again.(This story reminds me of the book “My Last Affection”, because my past during high school was the most unforgettable one. In the first place, I wonder why did Katie move to South port to begin with? And also, she claims that she want to start fresh, but i felt that there has to be a deeper reason behind this. Moreover, I couldn’t also figure out, what is Katie afraid of? And are Katie’s only two friends in South port, Jo and Alex connected in some way? At the end of the story, I would predict that Katie, Jo and Alex are connected in some way. I also think that Katie’s past, whatever it maybe, reflects on her characteristics in the Novel. And she preferred to move in North Carolina town of South port to forget her past, amend her sadness and most of all to start her life all over again.
Book Title: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green                         February 25, 2018
I thought this book examines the strengths and weaknesses of the people. Because of its title descriptions. But I think I’m wrong, It wasn’t. I didn’t expect that i fell in love with the characteristics of Hazel and Augustus. Otherwise, it teaches me the meaning of life, the value of life. I must say, I’m blessed and thankful because I’m living normally healthy in this world. When i finished reading this book, it sincerely touches my heart. It’s hard to make me cry, and this book has already tearing me up. I can’t help it, I can’t help thinking about it every night. I used to connect this situational story to my Aunt. 2 years ago, My Aunt suffered from Cancer, a stage 4 Breast Cancer and in unexpected way, she passed away. My cousin, Ate Najera used to cried every night, every single day. That time, i wanted to comfort her, i wanted to ease the pain from her heart. But there comes a point that I’d realized most, It takes many days, it takes many years to bring back my cousin’s happiness. Because, it is so hard to live daily with depressions. And also, It is so hard for my cousin, for us to start all over again. Until now I’m praying that Hopefully, my Aunt will be at a good condition no matter where she is right now. And of course, to my cousin I’m expecting also for her betterment in life. After all, Hazel taught me the meaning of living life to the fullest. I’ve realized that a sickness doesn’t limit the capability of doing good things. What you want to do, as long as you’re happy then do it. Because, in this world we cannot predict the probable outcomes in our lives. Only GOD knows above all. So, enjoy every single moment while it lasts. I wonder how do Hazel and Augustus deal with the fear and pain of living with cancer, how do they manage it?  And also, does the book seem to suggest that there is one ideal way to deal with illness and death? However, i would predict that Hazel and Augustus hold very different views on the meaning of life, how to deal with cancer and especially death. Moreover, i think that there is one ideal way to deal with illness and death that is to keep in faith, keep on praying and most of all surrender yourself to GOD and he will take the rest.
The Notebook by: Nicholas Sparks Feb, 28,2018
This kind of Novel is quietly different. It tells also about love, and it is a heart touching story. The story begins with a two young couple, Noah and Allie.  It shows that you should  follow your heart where you can be happy just like what Allie did. Although at first Allies mother was against in their relationship, but then again she still  showed to Allie the right thing to do, and that is, to choose where you are happy with. I actually enjoyed the movie because it is a classic love story which is not really common for us as a New Generation.
Since, this is a classic love story what holds this movie is the relationship of the older couple that could really connect to this kind of movie and also to the teens who fell in love with each other. It is tender, loving, and romantic story of all.
I just wonder, what if Allie Allie didn’t found Noah, Do you think Forever exists? Well For me, even if it is not  Noah and Allie together, I do believe that there is a Forever. Hello? there’s a lot of guys and girls that you can spend the rest of your life in Sickness and in Health right? but you should choose the right one or The One that’s why you must really take your time and not to rush with it just like Noah and Allie did. It took 7 years for them to be with each other.
I have to admit that, at the beginning, I don’t like the flow of story because its a  classic love story. I don’t like the ambiance but, when I already understand the story, I’ve really enjoyed the movie a lot because it is not Predictable, it is different to other movies which is so Predictable.
Love, Rosie by Cecilia Ahern

Love moves in mysterious way. When you think you are settled, contented and fine, that’s when destiny and fate bothers you. When you think nothing is right anymore, that’s when someone appears in the picture to save you from misery. Every one of us has this so-called ‘soul mate’, this one person whom we call our love and partner. Our ‘the one’. Person who will shower us with happiness and love. This one particular person we can share our lifetime with.
‘Love, Rosie’ is a story of friendship, and how destiny plays with them—which they end up being with each other’s arm. Rosie and Alex, I think, were dumb and callous. Everyone can see that something magical is going on with them but they just keep on ignoring the factors. They were both afraid to take on their feelings to the next level and take risks. They value their friendship too much that it put boundaries on their feelings and completely close it. They ignore the chance when it is actually knocking on them to notice it, and when the opportunity passes that’s when the time they realized it was worth fighting for. They were just running in circles, unable to catch up to the other. But eventually they find each other (in their 50’s) feeling the silence more intensifying. Struggles and struggles pile up, but they find their way through them all. Destiny makes a move for the two. And that what makes it more beautiful—being with your one true piece. You feel complete and alive.
I believe that intimate relationship starts with a deep friendship. Before, I don’t believe in love, particularly on being in love with your opposite sex. I hardly imagine myself in a relationship with someone. I had, with no doubt, a stone heart. I prefer reading novels (suspense/thriller genre), than reading e-books or romantic stories online. I don’t really care on what I look or smell. But then, this one annoying guy appears in the picture. He always talks to me and annoy the hell out of me. I don’t know why but I get used to him being a bully and a gentleman as well. We got along so well that we ended up as best friends. We hang out. We eat together. We laugh and tease each other. We understand one another. And we thought that’s just the end of it—we’ll be forever best friends. But we feel the silence. At first, I find it so silly that I just brushed it off, yet the feeling grew big that I can no longer bear it. He confessed that he loves me, he courted and I said yes. We fight for our feelings and take risks. If ever we didn’t tell what we feel for each other, we will probably end up like Rosie and Alex. Yet, I guess we did rush things. For two years and five months we ended our relationship—being lover and friends. Sometimes, there are things that need to be left unsaid. Feelings need to ignore, because, as they say it, it is better to be friends than lovers. No break-ups, no hard feelings. I guess I need to wait for my real Alex to come soon.
The only thing that I am curious of is what if Alex came to the debs and he’ll be the partner of Rosie? Does the same thing happen? Or does it save Rosie from any trouble that night and that she can be able to go to college and be happy? Do they still end up together? Because the only thing or the source of the conflict was at the night in debs. And everything just messed up. Like a domino effect.
‘Love, Rosie’ ended when Alex came to Rosie’s hotel as a guest, and they feel the longing and the love and so they hugged and just smile. That’s it! I can conclude that they live happily after that, because finally they are in the arms of each other, not as best friends but partner till eternity. They’ll have a happy family, and they’re both have a successful career. I also think that they are strengthened by the things that they have been through, that they can overcome any more obstacles ahead of them.  As for Toby and Katie, I think they’ll end up just like Rosie and Alex—starting as friends and ended as sweethearts. But that’s up to fate or destiny. If it is meant to be, it will be.
