luke and jaylen have been dating for almost five months now, and jaylen has never told luke about his ex boyfriend, carl.

luke walked into jaylens dorm room. “hey dylan.” luke said. “hey. his room.” dylan said. “thanks.” luke smiled.

dylan is one or the few people who know jaylen and luke are dating.

luke walked into jaylen’s room. “jay?” luke asked. “yea?” jaylen said, his voice shaking. “hey, what’s wrong?” luke asked, rubbing jaylens arm.

“nothing…” jaylen shook his head. “jaylen, i’m gonna say this again. to be in a relationship, you have trust one another. tell me what happened.” luke said softly, luke has told jaylen this

“i just… a minute.” jaylen chocked back a sob. “okay. whenever your ready.” luke whispered, kissing jaylens head.

“okay.” jaylen said, leaning against headboard of his bed. “i’m ready.”

“okay.” luke nodded, turning his full attention to jaylen.

“okay, when i was like 17-18 i was in this relationship with this dude named carl, which by the way, that name gives me the ick.” jaylen said. “anyways, we were dating for like a year?’i don’t know… the beginning of our relationship was perfect, anything you could dream of, right?” jaylen said.

“yea.. like love story?” luke asked. “mhm.” jaylen nodded.

“and then. it got worse. whenever my team would have away games, sometimes we’d stay at a hotel. carl would always blow up my phone during games, call my step mom because i wasn’t answering. he’d would assume that i was cheating on him, and when my team would get back, he’d tell me to come over, and obviously he was angry. but i didn’t see it. i loved him, luke. i did. and he hurt me. it go to the point where he would hit me.”

tears welled in jaylens eyes. “but i stayed, and i can’t fucking believe i stayed. when i told connor, he obviously told his mom, who told my step mom. amy talked to me the second i got home for world juniors. she told me i need out of there. but i didn’t know how. she told me to stop commutation, and never walk alone until he got the hint. which i don’t think he ever got, because he kept talking to me and stuff. he’d even dm connor.”

jaylen wiped his tears. “jay.” luke said, pulling jaylen to him. “your safe now.” luke hugged him, rubbing his back.

jaylen buried his head in luke’s neck. “i know baby… let it out.” luke whispered.

luke turned jaylens light out. jaylen has fallen asleep about ten minutes ago. luke turned the ac up.

“luke..” jaylen muttered. “what? do you need something?” luke asked, walking over to jaylen.

“just you.” jaylen said, moving over in the bed. luke smiled and laid next to him.

jaylen laid his head on luke chest, closing his eyes. luke ran his fingers through his hair.

- jaylen’s parents split up when jaylen was 3, his dad getting married when he was 7. his mom died when he 12.

- jaylen got into hockey when he was 4, his dad would take him to games for the canucks, and sometimes they’d go to Toronto and watch the leafs.

jaylen knox vail was born june 22, 2003 making him a cancer. jaylen is a junior at the university of michigan. jaylen is vancouver canada.

jaylen also so plays hockey for umich. he’s number 65, he plays defense. jaylen played for world juniors with connor bedard, the two came quick friends, jaylen taking him under his wing.

jaylen and connor are still friends to this day, jaylen always looking out for him.

jaylyn met his now boyfriend, luke hughes, during freshman season. they were stall mates. and sometimes d-pairs. jaylen manly paired with ethan edwards.

jaylen was drafted in 2021, 29th overall (first round) to the new jersey devils. jaylen doesn’t plan to join the nhl till after college.

jaylen and luke started dating on may 18, 2022. so the two have been dating 1 year, 10 months and 20 days.

jaylen and luke are doing good (ish) with long distance. calling each other everyday when they have time.

jaylen takes trips over to new jersey when he can, also taking trips to chicago to see connor, ever since he broke his jaw.

today, the couple are working on their long distance and trying to make it work. but still happy and healthy.
