“Why are you in this Labyrinth by yourself??” Jay’s mouth was agape, staring at the boy, who stood with hands clutched tightly around a crowbar. “Are you even a magical girl? How- how do you know about this place??”

“I am a magical girl.” Gillion responded quickly and sharply, his expression turning somewhat sheepish as he continued. “I just…happened to lose my soul gem, and cannot transform at the moment.”

“Lost-“ Jay started

“YOUR SOUL GEM??” Chip continued the thought, eyes wide. “Does it work like that?? How is that possible?!”

“It kind of…disappeared one day while I was working?” Gillion said looking between the two unfamiliar faces as he straightened out his back. “It is no issue, I manage just fine without my form.”

Jay looked over Gillion once more, taking note of the fact that he did in fact not seem affected by the Labyrinth at all, nor did his injuries seem to be slowing him down. Still….a crowbar?

“Dude.” Chip was still looking over at Gillion in disbelief. “Why the hell are you fighting if you don’t have a magical form??"

“It is my duty to protect those who cannot see the influences of the witches.” Gillion propped the crowbar up over his shoulder as he spoke. He somehow seemed much larger than he was, stood upright and speaking like some noble hero. “My situation should not affect my ability to perform.”

“Except it totally does…” Chip looks up at Jay. “Should we try and contact Nik? Maybe he’ll know what this guy’s deal is?”

Jay’s brow furrowed at the idea. “I….maybe? I don’t want to cancel this hunt just for this though.”

“Jay, he’s just a dude in the everything-kills-you labyrinth!” Chip argued.

“I am not ‘just a dude’, I am Gillion Tidestrider!”

“Right now, Gillion Tide-whatever is a dude.” Chip snapped back.

“He can come with us for now.” Jay said.

“We’re hunting the same thing, we can probably keep an eye on him.”

“Jay.” Chip looked at her with confusion written all over his face. What would they gain from some guy getting hurt or killed in a labyrinth?

“I like this idea, I shall assist you!” Gillion grinned, already stepping up to walk with the two, stance exuding confidence. If it weren't for the scrapes and the dried blood, one would think him unbothered by the shifting world surrounding him. Chip thought Jay was crazy. That and this Gillion guy was insane. And that it was going to be a long hunt.
