Scene 1: I liked the way this scene was shot because as Ronsel and Jamie were talking, the camera would focus on one or the other person, creating a rack focus, which adds a sort of visual dynamism to this scene. The two opposing shots create a balancing composition for the viewer.

Scene 2: The “layering” of this shot was visually engaging since the viewer would spot Jamie in the background, the children in the mid-ground and Laura in the foreground. This scene plays with light and dark, by pushing for the usage of natural light seeping through the windows and doors, adds a strong and dramatic atmosphere in this scene.

Scene 3: Morrison effectively captures the earthy tones that accurately translates to the cinematic feel of Mississippi in the 1940s. The high contrast adds another dimension of grit and tension.
