Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani and Tabu starred in the comedy horror movie Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The movie has completed one year since release.

Kartik Aaryan, Tabu and Kiara Advani starred in the 2022 horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The movie completed its one year since release on May 20. Lead actors Kartik and Tabu took to their social media accounts to share memories from the time they shot for the movie. 

Kartik played Rooh Baba in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, a character that became very popular. The actor received praises for his role in the movie and it did very very at the box office, considering the fact that it released during the pandemic. Taking to his Instagram, Kartik shared photos from the theatres where the movie ran house full along with stills and posters of the movie. Tabu reminisces Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 days 

Tabu featured in a double role in the film. The Kuttey actress played the role of twin sisters Manjulika and Anjulika in the comedy horror. Reminiscing her time on Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 set, Tabu shared BTS pictures from the movie on the occasion of it completing a year of release. Kartik Aaryan Roped in for Kabir Khan’s New Film, Shooting to Start in May 2023

Kartik Aaryan, known for his splendid characterization in movies such as Pyaar ka Punchnama, Dhamaka, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and others will soon start shooting for his next film, none other than one directed by the fame of Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan by Kabir Khan. The shooting is set to begin in May 2023 and the Bollywood star is already looking ahead to it. The last directorial project ‘83’ by Kabir was about the heroes who brought the 1983 World Cup to home.

However, Kabir’s next movie is all about someone Indians do not know. The filmmaker was talking about the movie at an event and said that he has come to this fascinating true story. The storyline is about a living legend, an unknown hero, and not like the one renowned in his project ‘83’. What compelled him to bring out the story is that the people of the nation are not aware of this individual.

The surprise factor and driving force are how people let someone who did so much, just fade away. So, this will create excitement among the audience. He also said that the shooting for the movie will begin in May, and the casting of other characters is ongoing. It is most likely that Kartik Aaryan will play the lead. Presently, the actor is on a shoot for a romantic track in Kashmir for ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’, his next project.

Movie Review: Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is a comedy horror film directed by Anees Bazmee, written by Aakash Kaushik and Farhad Samji, and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the banner T-Series Films and Murad Khetani and Anjum Khetani under the banner Cine1 Studios. A standalone sequel to Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), the film stars Tabu, Kartik Aaryan, and Kiara Advani.

The plot follows Ruhaan Randhawa (Aaryan), who has to pretend to be a fraud psychic to deal with the return of Manjulika (Tabu), a malevolent spirit hell-bent on revenge against the Thakur family.

The movie received positive reviews from critics. A critic for Bollywood Hungama gave the film four and a half stars out of five and wrote, "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is a complete entertainer and works due to the splendid combo of horror and comedy." Tushar Joshi of India Today similarly gave the film three stars out of five and wrote, "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has all the masala and makings to satiate the taste buds. It’s funny in places, tries to be scary most of the time, but like its title, its efforts get somewhere lost in a maze."

Audience responded by saying that the movie is a full time entertainment though a one-time watch. The highlight of the movie was assumed to be the protagonist, Kartik Aaryan but Taboo has definitely stolen the show. The way she carried her character throughout the movie is outstanding.

Although the storyline did not match the level of the first part of the movie which starred Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja, Ameesha Patel, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi, Asrani and Vikram Gokhale. The sequel lacked psychological elements as it had in the first movie. The horror effects and impacts in the first part was definitely breath-taking but the sequel showed fictionated-technical effects. The horror-comedy timing in both parts were amazingly managed.

All in all, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is a nice addition in Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. It's a clean family entertainer that is much better than your recent Bollywood movies. No wonder it has emerged a big hit after a series of flops. Worth a watch!

From Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 to Singham Again: 7 sequels releasing in 2024!

Just as 2023 was inundated with sequels (10 in all, including the Netflix Lust Stories anthology film), 2024, as of now, is set to have eight of them, plus a spin-off. As of now, as per reports, only two—Stree 2 and Raid 2—are likely to be true sequels, just like Gadar 2 and Tiger 3 last year. Last year, these sequels were crowded between June and December, but this year, they will begin from February itself. And this time, T-Series and Jio Studios are involved as producers in three movies each.

Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 (earlier film in 2010) The next in the Balaji Telefilms’ bold franchise that introduced Rajkummar Rao and was Nushrratt Bharuccha’s first hit, the film was to release in February itself, but has now been postponed to April 19. Dibakar Banerjee is writer-director and co-producer again. As of now, Nimrit Ahluwalia, Anupam Joardar and the foreign actress Rossana Elsa Scugugia are the only cast known.

Singham Again (earlier films in 2010 and 2014) The iconic Rohit Shetty character of Singham will be back after Singham (that started Rohit’s Cop Universe) and Singham Returns, on Independence Day. Kareena Kapoor Khan also ‘returns’ as his wife from the latter film. Deepika Padukone is the newest (and first female) addition to Rohit’s Cops, while the other members of his Cop Universe—Simmba a.k.a. Ranveer Singh and Sooryavanshi a.k.a. Akshay Kumar will also feature here. Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor and (if buzz is true) Tiger’s father Jackie Shroff will come into this patriotic saga!

Jio Studios co-produces this spectacular production. But more importantly, this is a chance for Rohit to redeem himself after Cirkus. A small point: Singham also made a mark in cameos in Simmba and Sooryavanshi, so he will be seen for the fifth time here!

Stree 2 (earlier film in 2018) The new film once again features all the five loved characters in Stree—Shraddha Kapoor in the title role, Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee. Stree was the first film in the Dinesh Vijan Horror Universe, and the sequel is again directed by Amar Kaushik. This Jio Studios co-production will also be an August release.

Metro…In Dino (earlier film in 2007) This year’s sequels will be known for their ensemble casts. Anurag Basu repeats only Konkona Sen Sharma from the nine lead players of Life In A…Metro, and adds Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Pritam, his constant music composer, is in again. The first film had an unusual concept and theme and its music too was employed in an unusual way. The same is expected with this T-Series Films co-production.

Badass Ravikumar (earlier film, The Xpose, in 2014) This can be called a spin-off, or a sequel with a different title! Prabhu Dheva actually plays antagonist to Himesh Reshammiya’s lead character of Ravikumar, reprised from the earlier movie. The film is also produced and co-written by Himesh and has music by him, but it also marks the all-rounder’s debut as a director!

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (earlier films in 2007 and 2022) Anees Bazmee, director of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (which netted Rs. 185 crores in India) is helming the third part of the franchise that started with Priyadarshan’s cult horror comedy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which was his last Hindi hit, in 2007. He repeats his 2022 lead pair, Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan, with Madhuri Dixit Nene, Vidya Balan from the first film in the franchise, Naseeruddin Shah and Elnaaz Nouruzi as co-star. The music for this November release is likely to be scored by the franchise’s composer, Pritam. The film is again produced by T-Series Films.

Raid 2 (earlier film in 2018) Ajay Devgn once again plays an upright Income-Tax official in this sequel to Raid (a Rs. 100 crores grosser), which is helmed again by Raj Kumar Gupta. Vaani Kapoor is the new leading lady, while Riteish Deshmukh is the antagonist. This is yet another T-Series franchise.

Welcome to the Jungle (earlier films in 2007 and 2015) Ahmed Khan directs this multi-star adventure that will try and reprise the whacky mood of its predecessors. Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, child artiste Vrihi Kodvara, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and more are in the cast, including singers Daler Mehndi and Mika Singh. Jio Studios join Firoz Nadiadwala in producing the third part in his franchise of Welcome and Welcome Back, with Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal repeated from the earlier movie. What remains to be seen is whether they will be playing the same iconic characters of Rajiv and Dr. Ghunghroo, which they had done earlier, with Paresh featuring in both instalments though Akshay was only there in the first.

Shahid Kapoor and Anees Bazmee's double role comedy is set to release on Bakri Eid 2024, clashing with Kartik Aaryan's Chandu Champion.

Chandu Champion, the upcoming film starring Kartik Aaryan and Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Kabir Khan, will be released in theatres over the Bakri Eid weekend in 2024, according to Bollywood Hungama, who broke the news first on Monday late at night. Additionally, Anees Bazmee and Shahid Kapoor are planning to release their monumental double-role comedy on the same day, Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned.

"Internally, all the stakeholders were informed about the plans of releasing the film on June 14, which coincides with the Bakri Eid weekend. However, they were a little slow in making the announcement, and team Chandu Champion made it first. Anees Bazmee and Shahid Kapoor are keen to bring their yet untitled comedy on Bakri Eid weekend and the announcement is around the corner," a trade source told Bollywood Hungama.

The movie will begin production in August and will be shot over the course of four months in various locations. In his most widely recognised role to date, Shahid Kapoor stars in this high-budget action comedy. The source continued, "The film and its subject are apt for the Bakri Eid festival. Bakri Eid is celebrated by the masses and the yet-untitled double-role comedy will have all the elements for the mass audience. In fact, it is Anees Bazmee's most commercial film to date with lots of action in the narrative," They also said that Anees Bazmee is now prepared to produce a classic action comedy after delivering a blockbuster in the horror-comedy genre.

In August, production on the film, which stars Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead, will begin. Anees Bazmee is the film's director, and Dil Raju is the producer.

Satyaprem Ki Katha Box Office Prediction: Kartik Aaryan-Kiara Advani To Score Another Hit?

After the success of their previous outing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, it is natural for viewers to put their faith in the lead pair of Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani.

Satyaprem Ki Katha is all set to hit the big screens on June 29. The Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani starrer is a romance drama, whose trailer and songs have generated a positive buzz among the audience. An additional element in the film is the return of the lead pair of Kartik and Kiara, who are reuniting a year after the box-office success of the horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.  

Eid holiday is expected to give Satyaprem Ki Katha a good start

Kartik has proved to be a major crowd-puller in recent times. However, after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 made a ₹14 crore opening at the box office, the actor's next release Shehzada managed to earn only ₹6 crore. Film exhibitor Akshaye Rathi opined that day 1 collection for Satyaprem Ki Katha will be mid-range, slightly more than Shehzada but definitely less than Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. 

"The Day 1 numbers right now are looking like they should hit something to the tune of ₹6-7 crore. But it entirely depends on the next couple of days. With the promotions gathering pace and new songs coming out, there is a good chance that it could do more than ₹8 crores. The subject and theme of the film are such that if it connects with the audience, it could do wonders. The film's response will entirely depend on word-of-mouth." 

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala predicted almost similar numbers and also pointed to the film’s holiday release on Eid al-Adha, saying, "₹7-9 crore for all-India can be expected. The buzz is average but since the release is coinciding with Eid, if the content is good, it could do more as well on the opening day."

Weekend collection to cross ₹40 crore mark at the box office? Perhaps

The box office business of a medium-budget film like Satyaprem Ki Katha will rely entirely on positive word-of-mouth from the viewers, pointed out Rathi and Bala. "The weekend could very well turn out to be in the range of ₹35-42 crore. If word-of-mouth is not powerful, the collection could dip to ₹21-22 crore. It is entirely banking on word-of-mouth and reports that come out after release. If everything is positive, the collections could rise like wildfire," Rathi said. 

"The weekend would be anywhere between ₹32-40 crore. If the film is well received, ₹40 crore is achievable. If reviews are not good, it could do ₹30 crores or less," Bala added.

Kartik-Kiara pairing is a crowd-puller, but content is king 

After the success of their previous outing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, it is natural for viewers to put their faith in the lead pair of Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani. However, trade analysts maintain that while it will be a factor that determines the movie’s business, it will not supersede the film’s content. 

"Both Kartik and Kiara are popular as a pair and as individuals. They can certainly pull it off. It is a good Jodi and there is positive anticipation. If such medium-budget movies do well at the box office, it is a positive sign for Bollywood in the longer run," Bala said.

Adding to this, Rathi said, "It definitely creates a buzz around the film but whether or not people will buy tickets to see them on-screen entirely depends on the kind of traction the movie gets. The trailers and songs have generated a good amount of curiosity. Add to that, you have Kartik and Kiara who have been successful as a pair in the past. It holds promise but it is not a make-or-break factor. It ultimately depends on how entertaining the film is. We have seen jodis deliver both big hits and not-so-successful films in the past." 

Collection in Mumbai crucial to film's business

On being asked how much of the film's business could come in from southern India, Ramesh Bala treads with caution. He said that in the South, huge box office numbers are usually garnered for big-budget action films. So Satyaprem Ki Katha is not expected to do much business in these markets. However, metro cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad could contribute to the film’s earnings. 

"In the South, it can do well in cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai, which are metro cities. For Hindi films to do well they have to be action films like Pathaan or cop movies like Simmba. But huge collections are reserved for Khans, Hrithik Roshan, and big-budget movies like Pathaan," Bala said.

He also shared his thoughts about Mumbai could be the biggest contributor to the film's business. "Mumbai is the biggest region for any Bollywood film. It will be a big factor and if it can pull through, nothing better. The movie has the potential to do very well in regions of Maharashtra like Mumbai, Nagpur, and Pune. It will depend on how couples turn out to see the film, seeing it made for them," he concluded.

The predicted numbers give us good reason to be optimistic about Satyaprem Ki Katha’s performance at the box office. However, how much potential the film holds will only be proved once the film releases theatrically on June 29.
