I started writing fic again this week and I forgot how much I enjoyed it, so on the train home tonight I came up with a ton of West Wing/Tortall AU headcannons.

Jon Conte II, President, son of a Congressman from Connecticut, very progressive, white, looks like a tall Brian Schatz, speaks like an energetic Chris Murphy, and the politics of an even more liberal Cory Booker.

Alanna Olau, chief of staff. Intense, intelligent, foul mouthed. A Hispanic, female Rham Emanuel.

Thayet Wilima, Vice President and First Lady. Native American senator from Idaho. The charisma of Michelle Obama with the political power of Eleanor Roosevelt.

Gary Naxen, speechwriter. Former prep school friend of Jon’s, white, brilliant writer, non-confrontational. Tommy Vietor but on xanax.

Raoul, congressional liaison. Great campaigner, impatient, friends with everyone. A black Tip O’Neill in the White House.

Alex, head of the CIA. Holdover from the Rogers administration, can’t tell where his loyalties lie, but he always has the information Jon needs. If J. Edgar Hoover was less racist but still closeted.

I think the POTS characters would be in the House and Senate, and they just lend themselves so well to the parties (plus then I can still have a great Raoul/Kel mentor relationship.

Wyldon Cavall, Republican speaker of the House. Classic Republican, not thrilled about the new administration but too polite to duke it out in public. Eisenhower in the modern era.

Keladry Midelan, Democrat house minority leader. Young, openly gay, two term Congresswoman with a huge fan base. The excitement of Kamala Harris with the no-nonsense work ethic of Barbara Mikulski.

Neal Queenscove, Democrat Senate majority leader. Almost too smart for his own good. All the intelligence of Barack Obama with a weird, not for everyone Howard Dean intensity.

Say hello! This is my new bunny (first bunny ever, so excited), picture taken by my mother while she was in her box being taken home. I’m not taking new pics until she’s in her cage because I feel bad (she’s in an aquarium temporarily because we couldn’t get a cage right away, she has air and everything but her fur is covered in bedding). She’s a 12 week old (baby!!!!) Lionhead Angora bunny, and her name is Keladry. Much like her namesake, Keladry of Midelan, she’s really good at being calm and quiet looking no matter how she feels, but as I get to know her I’m hoping I’ll be able to identify her moods better. She LOVES exploring, and seems to prefer solid surfaces that she can safely move around on. She also likes kale, but is a private eater (won’t eat from hand or if being watched). More to come, not that anyone asked. But everyone needs more bunny in their life, so I’m not sorry.
