Red Alert Issued In 4 Kerala Districts Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a red alert in Kerala's Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Alappuzha and Kottayam districts till May 20.

Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Ernakulam districts are placed under orange alert for the next few days.

The IMD has issued a Yellow alert in all other districts of Kerala except Kannur and Kozhikode.

A red alert indicates heavy to very heavy rainfall of over 20 cm in 24 hours while an Orange alert means very heavy rain (6 cm to 20 cm) while a yellow alert means 6- 11 cm rains.

The weather department has warned the fishermen against venturing into the sea till further notice due to the strong winds and rough sea conditions.

The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has predicted high tidal waves on Kerala and South Tamil Nadu coasts on Sunday. The agency said that waves measuring 0.4 metre to 1.2 metres are likely to occur on the Kerala coast and can lead to sea incursions.

The IMD in its alert also warned of the likelihood of thunderstorms with gusty winds that could touch a speed of 30-40 kmph in some places of the state between Sunday to May 22.

In the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram, several homes in low-lying areas are inundated with water in the heavy rains on Sunday morning.

only the usual seasons/tilt of the earth have a much bigger impact than the aphelion phenomenon.

For instance, on the Tropic of Cancer, the sun is overhead on June 21st. The sun in the sky basically makes a 90 degree angle with the ground. However on December 22nd, the sun is 47 degree to the south of Tropic of Cancer, which means that the Sun is at an angle of 43 degrees (90-47) with the ground. So, the sunlight would be 68% (sine 43 degrees=0.68) of what was seen on June 21st.

Aphelion can bring an effect of 3.3% at max.(1.0167*1.0167=1.03367889), which is much less than 32%. 04.07.22

122 വർഷത്തിനിടയിൽ ഏറ്റവും കുറവ് മഴ ലഭിച്ച നാലാമത്തെ ജൂൺ മാസമായി 2022

കേരളത്തിൽ ജൂണിലെ മഴ ഏറ്റവും കുറവ് 48 വർഷത്തിന് ശേഷം ഈ വർഷം. ജൂൺ 30വരെ പെയ്തത് 308.6 മില്ലിമീറ്റർ. കേരളത്തിൽ ജൂണിൽ ശരാശരി ലഭിക്കേണ്ടത് 648. 3മില്ലിമീറ്റർ ആണ്. ഇതുവരെ 52% കുറവ്. മലയോര ജില്ലകളായ ഇടുക്കി ( 68%) പാലക്കാട്‌ (66%), വയനാട് ( 60%) എന്നീ ജില്ലകളിൽ ആണ് ഏറ്റവും കുറവ് മഴ ലഭിച്ചത് . 1974നു ശേഷം ആദ്യമായാണ് ജൂണിൽ ഇത്രയും കുറവ് മഴ ലഭിക്കുന്നത്. 266.9 മില്ലിമീറ്റർ മഴ ആയിരുന്നു 1974 ലഭിച്ചത്. 1983 ( 322.8 mm),2019 ( 359 mm) 2013 ൽ ആയിരുന്നു ജൂണിൽ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ മഴ കിട്ടിയത് അന്ന് 1042. 7 മില്ലിമീറ്റർ മഴ ആണ് ജൂൺ മാസത്തിൽ മാത്രം പെയ്തത്.

ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ മഴ ലഭിച്ചത് കാസർഗോഡ് ( 478.3 mm)ജില്ലയിലാണെങ്കിലും സാധാരണ ലഭിക്കേണ്ട മഴയെക്കാൾ ( 982.4 mm) 51% കുറവായിരുന്നു. രണ്ടാമതുള്ള കോഴിക്കോട് ( 438.6 mm ) കിട്ടിയെങ്കിലും 50% കുറവ്.

ഏറ്റവും കുറവ് മഴ പാലക്കാട്‌ ( 155.6 mm ) 462 mm ലഭിക്കേണ്ട ജില്ലയിൽ കുറവ് 66%.

സാധാരണ ജൂലൈ കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ കാലവർഷ മഴ ലഭിക്കേണ്ട മാസമാണ് ജൂൺ. എന്നാൽ കഴിഞ്ഞ കുറച്ചു വര്ഷങ്ങളായി ജൂണിൽ മഴ കുറയുന്നത് പതിവായി.

*ജൂൺ മാസത്തിൽ സംസ്ഥാനത്തു ഓരോ ദിവസവും ശരാശരി 22 mm മഴ ലഭിക്കേണ്ട സ്ഥാനത്തു ഇത്തവണ ലഭിച്ചത് 10 mm മാത്രം.

ഇത്തവണ ജൂണിൽ ആകെ ഒരു ന്യുന മർദ്ദമാണ് രൂപപ്പെട്ടത് ( അറബികടലിൽ മഹാരാഷ്ട്ര തീരത്തിനു സമീപം). അത് കേരളത്തിലെ മഴയെ ചെറിയതോതിൽ പ്രതികൂലമായി ബാധിച്ചു. കാലവർഷത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി രൂപപ്പെടുന്ന ന്യുന മർദ്ദപാത്തിയും, അതോടൊപ്പം ആഗോള മഴ പാത്തി MJO യും ഇത്തവണ ജൂണിൽ കേരള തീരത്ത് കാലവർഷ കാറ്റ് ശക്തമാക്കി കേരളത്തിലെ കാലവർഷത്തെ ശക്തമാക്കാൻ സഹായിച്ചില്ല.

Drizzling rain all thru night, just 13mm. By 8.45am intensity increased with gusty winds and on and off rain continues. No sun. ചക്രവാത ചുഴി ഇപ്പോൾ കർണാടകത്തിന് മുകളിൽ ആയി. ഹുബ്ലിക്കും ബെല്ലാരിക്കും ഇടയിൽ. അത് തെലിങ്കാന ദിശയിൽ നീങ്ങുന്നു.ചക്രവാത ചുഴിയുടെ സ്വാധീനം ഇല്ലാതാകുന്നു. അറബികടലിൽ മഴ മേഘങ്ങൾ ഒഴിഞ്ഞു തുടങ്ങി. അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന മേഘങ്ങൾ കടലിൽ പെയ്തൊഴിഞ്ഞു. മഴ നിൽക്കും. ഇടക്ക് അല്പം പെയ്തു പോയാലും നാളെ മാനം തെളിയും, വെയിൽ പരക്കും. 18.05. Moderately rainy morning till almost 9am.31mm. Day was almost dark and temp around 25c but not much of rain. 17.05. Night it was lightly rainy 17mm. Cloudy day without any rain. 16.05. It rained all thru night . 37mm.
