Guys a funny Easter egg for the movies if they modernize it could be placed in Sophie’s room. We know in cannon she is a fan girl imagine she has a poster of Loki in her room among other posters only to find out Forkle is the inspiration for the Norse god!

I would much rather prefer a book of short stories from multiple POVS, that includes the Great Gulon incident or a short story from Rayni’s POV or a short story from Maruca’s POV or Fitz’s POV when he looked for Sophie in the forbidden cities, than a book entirely on Keefe’s POV from his adventures in the forbidden series when we already get so much of him in the regular books of the series.
it’s not that I have a problem with Keefe, he’s a great and lovebale character, but it just seems like Shannon is over-saturating the series in his character because she knows a lot of the fans like him. Shannon please we like Keefe but we also like the series for way more than just Keefe 😭

got the vacker brainrot but you guys know how Alvar is the outsider, the one who's too old and too seperate from his siblings, but what if that's whate everyone thinks and what everyone knows but what if. what if it's wrong. what if Fitz is the distant one. What if he seperates himself. maybe alvar and biana band together in their various hurts and pains. in flight from the impossibility of earning their parents' love, hiding together under beds when doors slam and silence aches inside of them. listening to each other read in the darkness, grabbing hands as they run away from the silent world they live in. and fitz doesn't go with. he stays. he faces the silence. he faces the slamming doors. he shuts his eyes to what he can't unsee. his ears to words he can't unhear. his siblings hiss "we'll get away someday" and he never responds because he knows. he knows he'll never ever leave. he won't leave his parents. no matter how far alvar and biana go together. he won't go with. because alvar and biana are smart enough, unmanipulated enough, can see something clearly. they can see what fitz can't. Alvar and Biana know that their dad isn't going to change. Their mom will always side with him. but fitz holds out hope. that maybe just maybe. just maybe and maybe. his parents will change their minds. he'll convince them. he's got it under control. they'll go easy on Alvar and Biana if he just manages to do what they want. He's perfect, he's their perfect kid, he's always been their perfect kid. perfect kids don't leave and perfect kids dont cry and perfect kids aren't stupid enough to listen to their idiot siblings and they know when to obey their parents. fitz is gonna be their perfect kid and he has hope that he'll earn it. he'll make them proud. fitz is really really good at convincing himself that he doesn't need his siblings and he doesn't need them he doesn't need anyone and they don't need him how dare they ever rely on him he's better than them his dad says so he's the best and he's perfect and
and he steps back. It's always alvar and biana. not alvar and fitz. not Fitz and biana. It's alvar and biana.
he's the favorite. he's perfect. he's everything his parents demand. but he's completely alone.

kotlc characters most to least likely to commit vehicular manslaughter
this is based on a post about stranger things so if you made that and ur seeing this ily
1. keefe. does not have his license. hit a mailbox on his first time driving and his dad refused to take him out anymore after that. alvar tried to teach him after that but after keefe accidentally skidded into a cornfield on a country road and scratched up alvar’s car, he decided to just Stop before further endangering anyone’s life. king of public transportation tbh
2. linh. this might be surprising, including to her, because linh thinks she’s good at driving but is absolutely not. either drives 20 under the speed limit or speeds 20 over. gets distracted easily and almost never has her eyes on the road, so she’d probably commit a hit and run and not even notice. somehow hasn’t done this yet.
3. sophie. failed her license test twice and only passed the third time because the instructor took pity on her. absolute menace on the roads, gets extremely stressed when there’s any amount of other cars around and loses most control of the vehicle. would be higher but she’s less likely to commit vehicular manslaughter and more likely to get rear ended by braking too quickly or jump the curb on a too-sharp turn.
4. biana. has gotten multiple tickets for distracted driving because of her attempts to talk to her passengers, apply mascara, and put her hair up all at once, not even mentioning how she blasts her music at eardrum-shattering volumes and can never hear when she’s being honked at. causer of road rage. doesn’t speed though so at least has that going for her.
5. fitz. neither of the younger vacker siblings are the drivers of the family. fitz drives normally until he makes a risky decision like plowing through an intersection right as the light turns red, or weaving between cars on the highway. suffers from murderous road rage whenever anyone else does these things. has invented at least a dozen new death threats. would not commit vehicular manslaughter but rather vehicular murder.
6. tam. decent driver but seems even better due to the vast difference of skills between him and linh. pretty confident in his ability, but does have the tendency to get way into his music, have to swerve to make his turn last minute, and then white-knuckle the wheel for the rest of the trip. otherwise pretty safe.
7. marella. you’d expect her to be worse, honestly, but marella learned to drive early in order to take her mom places after her head injury. takes great care of her passengers. however, when alone, marella’s notorious for texting and driving. claims she’s mastered the technique because she hasn’t fucked up yet. (DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.)
8. maruca. pretty safe driver, doesn’t do anything more egregious than a bit of tasteful speeding. unlikely to hit anyone because she stays unnecessarily far from the people in front of her.
9. dex. capable driver, probably because his dad has been illegally teaching him since age 12 in the slurps and burps parking lot.
10. wylie. very responsible, never goes more than three over the speed limit. the only reason he isn’t last is because Not being the one driving stresses him out so badly and he will yell at the person in the driver’s seat when they fuck up, which will probably make them fuck up even worse, causing an accident by proxy. for this reason he’s almost always the driver.
11. stina. she has to control rowdy horses all the time at home so a car is easy peasy. never give her aux though because she always defaults to country music

headcannon for the book series I was obsessed with when I was 13
humans have bigger heads compared to our bodies than most other animals to make room for our big ass prefrontal cortex
the elves are canonically more intelligent than humans (if I remember correctly)
the elves all have big ass heads

Kotlc gang on a road trip
Fitz - he’s driving to everyone’s absolute terror, alternates between murderous road rage that nearly causes him to run a family of four off the side of the highway and yelling back at everyone whenever they make even the slightest bit of sound. Which is hard because they are constantly making sound. When they finally get to the motel he collapses into his bed for three hours and then immediately begins planning out how far away the next stop is.
Sophie - she’s in the middle at a window so she can stick her head out like a dog and definitely hits people with her hair by accident. Eats all of one specific snack everyone wants ten minutes later and nearly jumps out of a moving car at all the glares she gets. In charge of the aux and she alternates with Tam, but as they have basically the same music taste its always just emo/metal music that gets played w the occasional side of ear bleeding autotuned pop.
Biana - she and Marella and Linh are here to judge all the food even if its just plastic like pizza at a 2am gas station stop. They act like food criticis and make Fitz even more murderous. Changes her makeup - from foundation to eyeliner to lipstick - like five times despite being in a moving, shaking car. She’s directly behind the passengers seat and puts her feet up on the headrest constantly and it drives Dex crazy which is a feat in and of itself. She’s the only one who isn’t tired when they get to the motel and decides to ‘go exploring’.
Maruca - in one of the back seats, generally listens to music and ignores everyone but occasionally just yells something to start a fight and fades back whenever she gets bored. Has her own collection of snacks she’s only sharing if people ask nicely and so far only Marella has noticed this. Is sadly dragged by Biana to ‘go exploring’ when they get to the motel, but also cannot sleep anywhere unfamiliar so it wasn’t like she had anything better to do.
Tam - alternates control of the aux with Sophie and whenever he plays songs you can see the Black Parade flash through his memories. Gets pissed at everyone for being too loud and tries to sleep but hits his head on the window from all the bumping and invents five new death threats. He’s in the middle, squashed between Sophie and Biana, and has to alternate dealing with Biana’s makeup kit and Sophie’s snacking. By the time they get to the motel he just disappears and they find him sitting in a bathtub brooding to Teenagers.
Linh - like I said, she Marella and Biana are just here for the food. She comes out of this road trip with a new appreciation for digital art and an addiction to 7/11 road slushies. Probably asks everyone to play ‘I-spy’ all the time to everyone’s great despair. Awful at handling road trip boredom, but she forgot her headphones so her options are either draw or bother people so she happily does both. She somehow finds a pool near the motel and tells everyone someone has been murdered there once and no one is quite sure how she knows.
Marella - at the back between Linh and Maruca and is only here for food and chaos. Is the main person Fitz yells at when he nearly crashes the car for the 100th time. She nearly gets them beat up at a gas station when she cusses out some guy in a pickup truck. Is the only person who brought sufficient reading material and is also the only person who can read maps, which is a shame given she’s all the way in the back. They get stopped by the cops at some point and she tells them to fuck off. Its a miracle she hasn’t been arrested yet ngl.
Dex - he’s in the front seat as the only guy who knows how to work a gas pump, an ATM, change a tire, or anything about mechanics. He sadly doesn’t know how to read maps and yet goes ballistic whenever he thinks they’re even a bit off course. Is the only one who can match road-rage Fitz in sheer energy tbh. By the time they get to the motel he’s so drained he just passes out and then accidentally scams someone on his way to get breakfast.
Keefe - he hid in the trunk and was determined not to let anyone know but also has to stop for the bathroom every fifteen minutes. Is accidentally a backseat driver but in the worst way possible and is the cause of 90% of Fitz’s road rage. Biana tried putting eyeliner on him while he leaned over Linh and now it’s smeared all over his cheeks. Tam once threatened to tape him to the top of the car before they realized he would probably find that fun.

I think he feels the need to show off his shoulders and collar bone constantly. His closet has to be just halter tops and V-necks. If he has to wear a button up it has like 3 buttons undone.

The evolution of elves and their characteristics
Originally, all humans had brown eyes. Around 10,000 years ago, a genetic mutation affecting one gene turned off the ability to produce enough melanin to colour eyes brown causing blue eyes. Since blue eyes have survived throughout many generations, researchers think there may have been some evolutionary benefit, though the exact reason is unknown.
At some point in time humans continued evolving further into elves and the mutation that caused blue eyes was the first sign. Since they still looked like humans and didn’t have abilities, they continued to have kids with humans (which over time caused blue eyed humans). However, as the elves started to have kids with each other, they evolved further. Slowly they began prolonging their life span, bit by bit, before reaching “immortality” a few hundred years later. In the meantime, the first signs of body temperature regulation and darkness vision made an appearance, and, with time, the rest of the skills that have to do with survival (breath control & appetite suppression) were fully developed as well.
Skills were developed before abilities, at least the ones that are slightly more “natural” as skills aren’t as complex and were helpful for surviving in the early stages of evolution. Blinking was the last skill to develop. Telekinesis, levitation, brain push and outward channelling came before it. With telekinesis their minds become stronger, allowing brain pushes to evolve and levitating to be introduced due to the ability of being able to use telekinesis to lift yourself. With brain push and telekinesis fully developed outwards channelling was eventually able to form. I think that blinking evolved from light leaping which was developing alongside their skills.
People with blue or light eyes tend to be more sensitive to light. This is because blue eyes, especially light blue eyes, have less pigment in the iris, making them more translucent. This can cause blue-eyed people to be more susceptible to glare and sunlight, leading to light sensitivity. I think this is why it's easier for eleves to light leap than humans, their eyes are more sensitive to light, due to thousands of years of developing specific melanin in it. This makes their bodies able to break down easier and is also why Sophie struggled when practising light leaping with Grady in book one, her eyes aren’t as sensitive to light due to the amount of melatonin in her irises.
When light leaping was first discovered an elf was resting under a beam of light that had been refracted by a giant salt crystal and faded away. At the time nobody knew what happened and were simply confused. This happened more frequently as their eyes continued to develop since the percentage of blue allele increased due to the lack of brown eyes. If the elves would sleep on a rocky beach or linger too long in a geode cave the light would take them away.
The first elf to survive a light leap did so by realising that his particles were leaving him and used his telekinesis to pull them back, holding himself together. He eventually found himself fully reformed and alive, and when the other elves found him—surprised he wasn’t dead by this mysterious sickness that kept appearing—he explained what had happened.
They began to experiment with light leaping, coming to the realisation that it a) takes you from point A to point b and that b) depending on how the light shines through the crystal, it takes you to different places (prompting the creation of leaping crystals). All of this (as I said previously) helped blinking to be created from which vanishing eventually sparked.
The order of which I think the abilties were created are as following:
Shade - I think that this was the first to develop due to darkness vision being introduced so early on. It was the only ability to develop whilst their skills were however it wasn’t seen as an ability until others started showing. The elves just assumed that some people were better with shadows due to more practice with darkness vision.
Element based abilities (froster, pyrokinetics ect.) - Elves weee pretty close with nature in early stages of devlopment which helped create element based abilities along with the help of their skills. Telekinesis was beneficial due to the way it could manipulate the elements and was able to draw the elements to the elves. Pyrokinetics was brought to light by the help of telekinesis (same reason) and body temperature regulation. (Technically Shade is an element based ability but it was developed way earlier so I gave it its own category.) Frosters were developed later when the elves discovered snowy biomes, elves with hydrokinetics learned how to manipulate the water in snow.
Inflicting (maybe slight tw(?) a bit unsettling) - Inflicting sparked from brain pushes and outwards channeling, and it consisted of being able to concentrate a large amount of your mental energy on a living being and inflict pain using outward channelling. At first inflicting was (even more) brutal, it consisted of keeping someone in a constant state of almost exploding using outwards channeling, causing actual physical pain instead of an illusion as it does now. Inflicting was further developed when telepathy was introduced, making the pain completely physiological instead of physical.
Polygot
Empathy
Mesmerising
Vanishing - Seen first in elves who could blink over longer periods of time, was typically found in an elf with lighter blue eyes due to their eyes being more sensitive to light than ones with dark blue but grew to be found in all shades of blue with time.
Phasing - Around the same time as vanishers, while they couldn’t disappear for long periods of time, blinking and telekinesis helped phasers be better at letting their particles fade while remain in control of them, causing them to be able to phase through objects.
Flashers - Another element based one which was developed separate from the others. Was first introduced after light leaping with the help of vanishing. Instead of letting the light pass through their body flashers we’re able to “trap it” and manipulate it.
Telepathy - A little later on due to the sheer complexity, was actually a genetic mutation in which telekinesis was altered so that instead of moving things with only your mind, you were now able to hear things with only your mind.
Vociferators
Beguiling
Conjuring
Technopathy
Enhancing
Descrying - given
Teleporting - given
If any of these don’t make sense/you want a more in depth description then send me an ask. I didn’t write reasons for some of them bc they were either quite repetitive or to complicated and probably need a post dedicated just for them on their own.
An important thing to note is that the laws of genetics state that eye colour is inherited as follows:
If both parents have blue eyes, the children will have blue eyes.
The brown eye form of the eye colour gene (also known as allele) is dominant, whereas the blue eye allele is recessive.
If both parents have brown eyes yet carry the allele for blue eyes, a quarter of the children will have blue eyes, and three quarters will have brown eyes.
Also: If a child that is born to two blue-eyed parents doesn’t have blue eyes, then the blue-eyed father is not the biological father.

Y'all
The emotional trauma Fitz has by this point in the series is insane.
When you consider:
-Him growing up as a Vacker, always expected perfection and taught to bottle emotions, and that you are only worthy of love if you perform well enough, never learning to really have his OWN voice, just whatever was given to him.
-Alvar and Keefe betraying him, two of some of the closest people to him, giving him some DEFINITE trust issues.
-His echoes FORCING him to bottle his emotions and just straight up deny them (so he didn't die) during one of the most emotionally turbulent situations of his life.
-just the entirety of his injuries in general, the limp he is insecure about, the echo that probably gave him some minor heart problems when you think about it, the damage done to his mental state from repressing so many intense emotions (doing that can seriously do some mental damage and also show up physically in many ways)
-Seeing people (his loved ones) get hurt by his horrendously unchecked emotions, but him being likely unsure of how the heck to deal with them.
-The girl he trusts most and genuinely likes essentially emotionally cheating on him with his best friend while leading him on saying she wants to try to make the relationship work (I love Sophie though, she has a zillion other problems to deal with), then the reason they "broke up" being a morally ambiguous situation where he's torn between the girl he was ready to spend his life with and the system that his family must uphold, the family he owes his power and existence to, and it being seen as a bad thing that he cracked and couldn't NOT choose his family (like he always does), but it also would have been seen as a bad thing if he chose what he wants because his family would likely call him "selfish"
And all of this being completley overlooked because he's a Vacker and he had the perfect life, so why would he have any reason to complain?
The constant undermining of his entirely real and mind-fucking emotional trauma has got to be the worst part of it all, because what's worse than hurting like crazy and then everyone calling YOU crazy for believing that you're hurt?

so like y'know how Sophie never sleeps because depression, ptsd, and anxiety cocktail? i think Keefe sleeps all the time, but in disconnected one hour sprints. He has no insomnia, no way to keep going, because he's always crushingly tired. This kid needs at LEAST twelve hours of sleep a day, but is he going to get it all in one go? No. If he goes to bed for twelve hours he gets six. Which means that the other six have to be made up throughout the day to kind of help him like. Live. Poor kid. So he's running on a half empty tank of gas at the moment he wakes up, and because he can skate by in almost all his classes he sleeps through some of those and gets detention, and just in general his sleep schedule is screwed, he can't sleep for more than two hours straight, he wakes himself up, and it's annoying and gross and painful, but he gets up and walks around and lies back down and can maybe pull off another two hours, if he's lucky. but yeah. poor kid.

Buckle up, I’m spit firing my favorite queer kotlc headcanons.
- Sophie is such an enby little blob and I love that for them. The whole ‘doesn’t like wearing dresses bc they don’t want to be perceived as a girl’ thing hits so hard.
- Also, an aro icon. I’d explain more, but I have too many emotions to articulate.
- Demisexual Dex, my beloved. Anyone who’s been around here long enough knows that I made him ace on accident in my writing and I’m sticking to it.
- This one’s pretty agreed on, but Marella is such a sword lesbian.
- Stina, similarly, has very strong tsundere vibes towards Sophie, just saying.
- Queerplatonic Keefex and Sophitz both hit different. The latter especially since the cognate thing sounds like a bond the transcends typical romantic or platonic categorization and fits nicely with aro Sophie.
- Genderqueer Fitz. I don’t know precisely what’s going on with his gender, but it’s something funky.
- And, last but not least, bi Keefe and Biana. I don’t think I need to explain more for that one.
