Two weeks ago I watched Kulturhuset Stadsteatern's production of Matilda the Musical. Matilda is one of my absolute favourite musicals and this production made it justice. I was a bit worried that I would compare it to Malmö Opera's production. (That I loved and still think about)

Luckily, both productions did their own thing and they're both similar and different to each other. It's been really fun and interesting to see two non replica productions of Matilda. They both have their own creative takes and I love both productions dearly.

Some things I really loved about this production:

* Quiet. It's my favourite song and everything about was just perfect: The translation, the singing, the acting, the choreography and the lighting. I couldn't have asked for more.

* The whole concept of the stories. It was so beautiful and well made. The acrobat and the escapologist were more visible, and it made it even more effectful. I felt even more for them than I usually do. They had such a beautiful and raw connection, too.

* My House. It's another favourite of mine and I loved the simple beauty of it. It's hard to explain without showing you the scenography, but as Miss Honey sing about certain objects, like a window, it appears as a projection inside the house. Some things, like a chair for Matilda and her cup of tea, are handed to her through the house. It's really clever and it made me smile.

* The individuality of the Matilda's. I love when they get to have their own take on the role and bring their own personalities into their portrayal. All three girls had their own portrayal of Matilda and I was blown away by all of them.

I could write a lot more, but it will have to do for now. I feel so lucky that I got to see this production with all the cast members and even some understudies. I love this production dearly.

Årets SIS har redan tjuvstartat, men främst händer festivalen på lördag och söndag. Jag missar den för första gången sedan... 2008 eller när det nu var. Men Håkan och Daniel kommer dit å representerar Svenska Superserier, så förmår du ta dig till Sergels torg, föreslår jag att du kliver in i på Kulturhuset Stadsteatern, letar upp deras bord och säger något mer eller mindre trevligt till dem.

Premiär: KONTRAKTET på Kulturhuset Stadsteatern 4 okt!

Jag bär mitt ursprung som ett skal, svenskheten: en spricka. Sanningen, heller dör jag än avslöjar att jag får kycklinghud av Du gamla du fria. Dom som sticker ut här är andra än jag.

Efter flera år på andrahandsmarknaden händer det plötsligt: Albin står med ett par nycklar i handen. Han har lyckats skaffa sig ett förstahandskontrakt till en lägenhet 0 minuter från tunnelbanan i Vällingby centrum! 

Men när Albin flyttar in börjar konstiga saker ske. Han hör märkliga ljud från väggarna och grannarna låter honom inte vara i fred. Varför kallar de honom för Nabil? Vem var egentligen Nabil och vad hände med honom? Albin får mardrömmar, han känner sig mer och mer hotad och plötsligt dör hans älskade växter. En sak är klar: bostadshuset där Albin flyttat in verkar bära på en mörk hemlighet.

Today Kulturhuset Stadsteatern announced that they're doing a production of Matilda the Musical that will open late december this year. (I have been suspecting it for a couple of months, but it's nice to have it confirmed)

As a huge Matilda fan, I'm really excited. It's a great team behind it, direction, choreography, scenography and costume wise. The cast that they have announced so far seem promising. Also, when it opens it's been a couple of years since Malmö Operas production, so it doesn't feel like it's too close to their production.

På Kulturhuset Stadsteatern vid Sergels torg hittas Svenska Superserier, Nordens Stjärnor, Doktor van Schoonbergs bestiarium och Buster och tjuvarna vid ett bord som han delar med Bodil Ragnarsson och Håkan Storsaeter.

Detta är första gången som Buster och tjuvarna och andra volymen av Nordens Stjärnor finns på SIS. Och även de senaste monstersamlarkorten (som delas ut gratis till den som besöker bordet) är nya för SIS-besökarna.
