because I am a ballroom dancing nerd, here are all of VM and what I think their ballroom specialties would be:

Scanlan: Cha-cha. He likes the fast movements in the feet but making it look easy on top. And him wearing those men's cha-cha blouses?

Percy: Waltz. He's a proper boy through and through. I think he likes the romance of it and how elegant it looks and feels.

Grog: Swing (east or west). He would be such a fun swing partner omg. He's so strong, he can do so many lifts.

Vax: Paso Doble. He like the sharp movements and that it makes him feel and look strong.

Keyleth: Quickstep. It's challenging and since she is always trying to prove herself, I think she would push to make it her specialty. Plus the jumps? Definitely air ashari vibes.

Pike: Foxtrot. It's jazz babyyyy it's sleek but fun and I can just see her just having a ball dancing it.

Vex: Tango. I feel like this is obvious, it's sexy, it's sleek, it's sassy, just fits Vex perfectly.

I'm so emotional about them. Like look how little Pike is compared to Grog. She didn't know his past, that he was such a violent killer, but it doesn't change the fact that he is her brother. He protected the only member of her family who loves her. He made sure she still had her grandad.

Pike is such a good best friend, Grog doesn't deal well with feeling sad or upset and she's able to help him figure out his thoughts and regulate his emotions. And she's able to comfort him the only way a sister can <3

anyway I don't know if I've talked about it but I have a widojest au where Caleb is a volstrucker and Jester is the princess of Nicodranas and as part of a war or something (idk it's not important lol) Caleb is given to Marion as a show of trust from the empire as a guard.

And Marion assigns him as Jester's personal guard because 1) she wants to see if it's possible to break Volstrucker programming and 2) if anyone can do it, it's Jester.

Grog and Percy please. They have such little/big brother energy.

idk why but I am incapable of writing a full fic of this so here's some hcs, I hope that's okay!

When Percy says that Grog is his brother, Grog takes that Very seriously.

Pike taught him a lot about how to be a good big brother, so he starts to be around Percy a lot more and plays pranks on him and ruffles his hair.

At first, Percy is incredibly confused as to why Grog is around all the time.

Pike finds it hilarious, but tells Percy what's going on. And Percy is just incredibly touched and he does his best to return the gestures. He doesn't have much practice at being a good brother, but he tries.

I also think that since Grog sees himself as Percy's brother, he's also Cassandra's brother. And he's kind of scared of her at first but the more time he spends around her, he sees that she needs another big brother too.

When Gwen was three years old she got lost in the woods. She doesn’t remember how, but she remembered crying and screaming for her mother. And she remembered the raven watching her, cawing at her, but she was too upset to understand it’s message.

She remembered watching it fly away and begging to to come back, to go get her father or her mother because she was scared and cold. She sat down by the trunk of a tree and cried. And then the raven returned, following behind it was a massive wolf. He was tall, taller than Gwen with big teeth and long claws.

But as the wolf saw Gwen, crying and alone in the woods, his ears pinned to the back of his head and he whined softly, approaching her like she was a scared animal. Which to him she was.

Gwen wiped her eyes, shakily asking, “Can you take me home?” Because her Aunt Kiki could talk to animals, why couldn’t she?

The wolf nodded to her and waited for Gwen to stand, putting a hand on the wolf’s neck as he started to lead her back to the castle Whitestone. Gwen wasn’t scared at all, not in the presence of that wolf. She didn’t know how she knew, but she knew that with him beside her, no harm would come to her.

When they arrived back at the castle, the wolf howled loudly, alerting the guards and Gwen’s very very worried parents. As Gwen fell into her parents’ arms, she heard her mum say, “Thank you, Galdric.”

The wolf grunted back and licked Gwen’s cheek before heading back into the woods.

After that, Gwen could hardly remember a time when Galdric wasn’t looking after her. Her mum told her once that before Gwen, Galdric almost never came close to the castle, now he’s hardly far from it. Like Danny and Charlie, Galdric has assigned himself as her protector.

When she has a nightmare, the ones about the Nine Hells, she pads outside and finds Gladric sitting waiting for her, as if he knew that she would need him. Many times after nights like those, Vex would come down stairs to find Galdric and Gwen curled up in the grass covered in dew. They start leaving the door open for him at night, just a crack so he can go into Gwen’s bedroom when she needs him.

When she heads into town, Galdric follows her from the treeline, he never walks with her, but every once in a while she can see a glimpse of his fur or his eyes. And when people call her nasty names and curse at her, he leaps from the trees and growls and snaps at anyone too close to her.

Vex has a lot to thank her brother for, but every time she sees Galdric and Gwen, she thanks him for sending the wolf to her daughter. For making sure her youngest was safe and giving her a friend for life.

When Trinket was a baby, he would always chew on Vax's shoes. Vax would be grumpy about it, but eventually he bought a new pair of boots and gave Trinket his old ones for toys.

Grog spends hours with Vex learning how to braid hair after Juniper is born. It's so hard with how big his hands are, but he has lots of time before June's hair is long enough to braid. And when it is, he very gingerly puts her hair into a loose braid. He has never been more proud of himself then when June runs off to show her parents her hair.

we all talk about Vax helping Kiki with anxiety, but not about Kiki helping Vax with depression so here are some thoughts <3

Sometimes Vax just can't take care of himself. On days like that, Keyleth will brush his hair and braid it out of his face. She'll make sure he changes into clean clothes and at least washes his face.

When Keyleth can tell things are starting to get bad, she'll get a whole bunch of his favorite foods, things he doesn't have to cook or think about eating.

And Keyleth lets him tag along with her so he doesn't have to be alone. He'll go to meetings with her and read or work on his magic while she's working. And when they get home, he'll just lay on her while she reads because truly nothing makes him feel better than that.

Keyleth also knows that she can't do it all by herself, she'll bring Vax to Whitestone so he can spend time with his sister or to Westrunn to spend time with Pike, she just makes sure that he's not alone unless he wants to be.

look y'all it's been a while since I posted about how much I adore my dear Cassandra de Rolo. Currently I've been thinking about her getting to be a teenager as she starts her 20s.

The first time she plays hooky in one of her lessons, she expects her brother to be mad, but instead he just laughs and tells her about how Julius used to do the same thing. That's how it starts.

From there she tries to push Percy, to get him to yell at her or snap at her. But he never does. He gets annoyed when she steals his snacks and smokes weed out her bedroom window and gets drunk with Kynan in the gardens. But he never gets angry. In fact, a lot of the time as he's reprimanding her, there will be a bit of pride in his eye.

She asks Vex about it, sure that her brother won't tell her anything. Vex says that Percy is happy to see her getting to be young and have weight lifted off her shoulders. He wants her to be an annoying little sister, he wants her to cause problems and break rules because it's a sign that she's alive when so many others aren't.

Vex tends to have a lot of sensory issues around being wet and cold, so after she takes a shower, she always wraps her hair up into a towel. Percy unknowingly starts copying her even though his hair is so short. Vex always has to stop herself from laughing when she sees him with a towel on his head.

Grog's prank war with Vax lasts past his death. Including, but not limited to, throwing sticks at ravens that squawks at him. And in turn, ravens pelt his head with rocks. It always makes him grin.

Keyleth used to collect sticks and rocks as a kid. When she brings Vax back to Zephrah, her childhood bedroom still has jars and boxes full of them. In her mind it's so embarrassing, but Vax thinks it's the cutest thing ever.

my inner horse girl is coming out as I say, percahlia au where Percy boards his horse at the stable where Vex works?

Percy's horse is a black arabian named Orthax

Vex doesn't technically have a horse, but everyone at the stable pretty much knows that the Trinket (a brown thoroughbred) is hers

Orthax is a very feisty, he's not well behaved and doesn't like nearly anyone, especially not Percy.

Vex sees Percy around the stable a few times before they meet. She honestly does not like him, he seems like every other rich asshole who doesn't know the first thing about horses and just wants the status of having one.

The first time they meet, Vex pulls him out of the way of Orthax kicking him.

She starts to teach him about horse behavior, how him being scared of Orthax is only freaking out the horse out more.

I mean this is obvious, but Vex rides western (because her father tried to make her do dressage and she hated it) and Percy does dressage.
