random detail i noticed during my nth rewatch this week and needed to get off my chest, hope you don't mind... but can we talk about the way akk most definitely went 😳 and the way his eyes dropped down at LEAST twice when aye came out after changing into his pjs (or i guess technically akk's pjs???) in ep 10 when they were in akk's room 😂
I most definitely don’t mind at all anon!! I love tiny details like this one, thanks for pointing it out to me
And you’re so right. He’s so startled by Ayan in his clothes (and i’m guessing by the reappearance of the thigh tattoo) that it knocks him out of the distracted stressed state he’s been in all day. He has to blink back to the situation at hand
Tumblr media
...and then has the audacity to try and claim that they can’t date because he’s a guy (and he’s going to sleep). You’re really not that subtle baby boy.
This also feeds into my make everything about Bad Buddy agenda because Pran does this too - both times Pat is shirtless in his room (ep 4 [4/4] and ep 9 [3/4]) 🥰🥰 I love it here

Okay Kita deserves the best tho I mean okay he went there as a y/n mom's plan but he did ended up helping alot... Especially cause he knows no matter what y/n heart will always be suna's and pls give Kita the best ending possible cause he deserves someone who will trully love him and show him the world cause mah boy deserves it
*breaths in breaths out* i hated this scene- not in a bad way but shit i hate rejections... To the point im kinda afraid of confessing now cause i despise the feeling of being rejected... The best i can descrive it it like this coldness in your chest that descends your whole body and then you feel frozen in place.. Thats how it feels for me I hate it I absolutely despise it- its also the feeling i have when in a really bad situation and ugh...
The suna part made. Me feel this no matter how many times i reread it the feeling doesnt lessen it keeps being there cause (okay you probably are tired already of me saying this but) Suki I feel like I cant put it in words how much of a fucking good of a writer you are. Ill go ahead and say you are by far my favorite writer the fact i always feel so engaged and the fact i always feel like im there its just- it blows my mind.
I felt like suna was personally rejecting me and i hated it- i swear the moment he said prove it I almost screamed HOW? My brain had to take a moment to just slap me and say: 'kya you reading this is not happening chill-' cause i was already sobbing uncontrollably... I even whimpered the dont leave me 😬 my sadass went to bed feeling so sad thanks to suna... Man i wanted so much to hug him and i swear i would give him as much love as he gave y/n cause well i kin suna alot in this series cause im like that im a giver i treat others the way i would like to be treated (reason why ive been down lately ✌️) and i cant blame suna for finally setting boundaries- his call tho 'do i not stand a chance with you anymore y/n? Are you really not capable of falling in love with me?".... Oh suna... We are in love with you.. We always were we're just fucking stupid 😩
Also mari pls go jump off a cliff <3 youre in need dear cause sleeping with other man just to separate suna and y/n <3 i want so much to punch her 🙂🙃
Now for the love letter part (im so sorry for this being so long ✌️)
You said that if we asked suna he woukd say that he genuinely loved mari okay... Ill go ahead and say yes he liked mari he even learned how to love her and he genuinely cared for her BUT and heres where my personal view comes in so maybe ill be biased here still for me that was just a he loves her as in he cares you also love your friends and care for them but he didnt love her- and by this I mean- he could never be fully committed for her. Yes he loved her and he felt happy with her but like track 7 proved everything he would do in the back of his mind was y/n he deeply wished Mari was her and for that he just loved Mari cause he learned how to care about her- but he never forgot who he trully was in love it. Also the happiness he experienced with Mari was pretty much the one I experienced the bliss of having someone there and that bliss also made suna turn a blind eye to all the red flags from Mari cause to him all the jealousy meant she cared and thats toxic but suna was so desperate for some sort of 'she cares' that even all the possessiveness was bliss for him... And that makes my heart clench for suna...
'suna had to put an effort for the relationship' and saddly i feel like mari didnt... Mari didnt care mari was there because she was a fangirl of suna and got lucky, the way she just discarded him so effortlessly that proved-screamed how much she loved him- she didnt. She was just possessive over him she liked the whole 'hes mine' dynamic and suna was the perfect boyfriend cause he was giving her the world... What he wanted someone to do for him.
Also yeah suna and y/n might have been spurred from them being fuck buddies but well love doesnt really have an agenda- they just clicked, understood each other and had chemistry yeah they had tons and tons of sex but feelings started not because of sex but thanks to their deep connection... Also that dsncing scene in track 7 that alone spoke for their whole relationship- that alone is enough to defend their feelings for each other- yes it might jave started just as fuck buddies but ended up in them loving each other deeply and that is enough love after all doesnt need a perfect start. It can start out of the most stupid ways.
You said life with excitement and fun wouldn't be permanent or real.. Honestly i think it could be.. Cause i mean when you love someone that deeply your life always feels exciting even with the littlest things and that the purest kind of love. Even just going for a walk at the beach would be fun for them or even staying up watching movies i believe suna and y/n would always find a way to make their lofe exciting without much effort.
Also it kinda makes me. Sad when i see some anon saying that y/n and suna relationship are toxic? It makes me. Confused maybe because I was in such extremely toxic one (girl i sweat if you search for toxic relationship my ex's face will be there as an example 🙄) that Mari to me screams toxic! Possessive, manipulative, jealous and a few more if I think closely about it while with y/n and suna they are just two idiots that are hurting each other cause they're just that: idiots one that is afraid to get hurt and the other that keeps hoping- dont get me wrong what they're doing is not healthy but i dont find it toxic honestly
Sorry for the extreme long rant 8D I tried to keep it short but you always make me so hyped to talk about your works 😩

NAHHH CUZ I LOVE TSUMU SO MUCH HERE HE WAS SO PRECIOUS. I didn’t write too much about them in college but Atsumu was so cute when he crushed on YN. he was always sending her memes and cute texts like “have you eaten” “good morning” and she’d feel so awkward because she doesn’t know how to let him down easy without hurting him. either way tsumu would feel hurt. AND YES PLS HE WAS SO SAD I MEAN, HIS CRUSH AND HIS BEST FRIEND NEARLY HAD SEX RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM SO THAT’S GOING TO HURT
SUNA AND ATSUMU TIED?? tbh I loved that dancing scene bcos suna is one of my faves and I really wanna do that with him hehehhehe. NAHHH PLEASE SAME IF SUNA DANCED WITH ME AND MADE A WEDDING PLAYLIST I’D BE LIKE boy what’re u waiting for let’s get married now !! n yes he said whoever YN will choose in the future will be one lucky guy IM SOBBING RN
naur cuz. there’s something about dating your best friend. I’m not saying a boyfriend wouldn’t know you as well but there’s something different when you’re best friends first. they could literally share eye contact and have a long ass conversation just from that. their connection is different.
HAJKALA AS FOR THE POWER, BR! YN IS A VERY CHARISMATIC AND FRIENDLY PERSON !! she’s like one of those people you meet that not only are they attractive as hell, but they’re also super approachable and down to earth. that’s why she’s so popular + she’s flirty and can make a stranger feel welcome or comfortable in the first meeting. SGSHJAK I WAS ACTUALLY PLANNING TO ADD OIKAWA HERE BUT I WANNA MAKE IT MORE INARIZAKI CENTRED
the seggs scene with kita SOBSSSS he’s such a soft dom IDC he knows where the clit is, he knows how to hit it. he’s a “your pleasure first before mine” type of guy. kita is perfect, PERIODT. HE GIVES DADDY VIBES HUH AHSKAA HE’S SO SWEET YET SEXY IM IN LOVE WITH HIM ISTG IF SUNA WASN’T OUR BEST FRIEND THEN I’D RUN FOR KITA ALL THE TIME. and I agree, kita deserves the best !! and don’t worry, I actually plan on giving kita the best ending, I promise you he’ll be fine (slight spoiler there)
YESSSSS OMG I’VE BEEN REJECTED BEFORE AND THAT’S EXACTLY HOW I FELT, MY BODY WAS SO COLD AND I WAS SO CONFUSED LIKE IT MAKES YOU THINK. am I not good enough, did I do something wrong, do you not wanna give me a chance or try it out but ofc I’d never say that out loud. AND KYAAA AAAH IM YOUR FAVORITE WRITER??? NO CUZ YOU’RE GOING TO MAKE ME CRY. I remember ur asks way back reckless era and you used to tell me that my writing made you picture the scenes easily and you felt you were there in that moment and I’m just so grateful thank you so much <33
NO BCOS WHEN SUNA SAID “prove it” I was like. this is it. that’s his hot boy shit moment. man’s has had enough of being thrown from one toxic relationship to another and he also deserves his good moments yknow. and you kin suna here?? BESTIE IM SORRY TO HEAR THAT, SUNA’S BEEN THROUGH A LOT HERE AHSJAKA. that’s true about suna tho !! he’s definitely affectionate + a giver. he’s happy being the one who gives most of the time but he’s a human as well, ofc he’d want to receive the same amount of love back. ALSO HIS PHONE CALLLLLL ugh tbh that part was the one that made me the saddest bcos he’s just. he wants to know if there’s really no more chance. all this time he never gave up. but he’s also tired so if yn says ‘no more’ then he’ll give up. its his way of respecting himself too ahsjaka
YOOOOO I AGREE WITH THAT. he cares for mari as a person but not 100% as a lover. but ofc he’s still thankful for how happy she made him because she was there at his worst. and that’s true, deep down suna still wishes that it was YN who’s right beside him. he will always ALWAYS want her back. he learned how to love mari in a way that was more out of mutual care but not in the way he loves YN. no that’s reserved only for YN – she will remain no 1 in his heart. AND YESSSSS the reason why suna overlooked the red flags was bcos to him, its something that was supposed to be “normal” like no perfect partner existed. he thought mari’s attitude of pushing YN away was normal, and its normal to want your partner’s best friend keep some distance but not to the point of mari’s place where she literally wants the two of them to cut each other out of their lives.
and aww I’m so happy that you realized how I wanted to portray suna and yn’s relationship. they’re….like the definition of youth in its freest form. they were fucking around and doing stupid things, but they had a connection. they had something deeper than just sexual intimacy. even if they never dated or even if YN never proposed the idea of it, they would’ve actually been still great friends. and oooh I actually don’t remember saying life with excitement and fun wouldn’t be real HAHAHAHA so I can’t comment further on that. but I think when I ‘said’ those I probably meant that it’s not always going to be all rainbows and unicorns in a relationship. there’s no such thing as a relationship that’s always happy and sweet 24/7, but ofc it can be sweet and it can be pure even with the little things <33 they just need to work on it.
hmmm tbhhhh… suna and yn are toxic in a way that they refuse to let each other go when they clearly can’t meet halfway. toxic doesn’t have to be limited in just being mari-like in which they are possessive or manipulative, because then if we’d drive deeper into yn’s personality, then she’d be stringing suna all along and that’s unfair of her. she knows suna wants more and yet she remained being friends with him, which totally isn’t a bad thing, but it’s because she keeps flirting with him and is so romantically comfortable with him that she doesn’t realize it’s hurting suna because he’ll give double meanings to that. their relationship is ‘toxic’ because they’re not entirely good for each other, they’re not that ready to be with one another yet and neither is the world letting them be in peace, so forcing their relationship to a point they’re hurting another is the toxic part.
[ from @kyriaan ]
Ah also not me feeling all proud and mushy cause my analysis made you mind blown fjfbdnsjdkpa 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 I guess its also because i see this story as a really big mirror of my own toxic relationship sonits extremely easy for me to get it... And oh boy the way i kin suna here
But dhdhfjdospdhfbsoa 🥺🥺🥺🥺 i feel happy now *huggles*
[ from saeren ]
and aah yes ofc, I’m really happy whenever someone can see the underlying details I scatter throughout the story !! yeah omg same hahahaha broken records is also half inspired by the toxic people I’ve met. I kin kita here tho and I’m so glad you’re happier now !!

Thoughts on Antifa?
Antifa is just thetip of the iceberg.
I first got thisquestion in my inbox shortly after the first Antifa riot on the nightof Milo Yiannopoulos’s Berkeley speech, but I’ve been sitting on it for two reasons:one, to take time to formalize my thoughts better, and two, to avoida “rush to judgement.” You see, it’s not Antifa specifically wemust worry about, but rather how the left wing itself reacts to them.
In my multipleresponsesto my Friendly Local Antifa, I’ve been very clear that just becauseextremists exist (andthey will always exist -)doesn’t mean that they speak or act for any larger group. To claimthey do is a classic fascist tactic,as evidenced by Hitler’s exploitation of the Reichstagfire as a casus bellito round up his Communist political opponents. Lettingviolent radicals act without serious efforts to stymie or punishthem, or even praising and normalizing their motivations while weaklyimpugning their behavior, is also aclassic authoritarian tactic, something the left wing is quick tonote in the context of the Ku Klux Klan, but never apply to the likesof the Earth Liberation Front. That’s why I mention “IllinoisNazis” so much - the mere existence of some goose-steppingretards doesn’t even establish them as a threat in and of themselves, much less a movement with actual national political power.
Thisapplies to “Antifa” because what they really areis pro-Communist radicals. It’scurious that reporting on Antifa never, ever seems to mention it,even though tenseconds on Google turns up some damningimages pretty fast. These people have neverbeenshy about being Communist radicals, or advertising it to the world.Considered in a vacuum, then, they’re just Illinois Commies brawlingwith Illinois Nazis. As the Beatlesreminded us, just because they carry picturesof Chairman Mao doesn’t mean they’re gonna makeit with anyone, anyhow. SoI waited, and watched, to see if the larger wave of hysteria, obstructionism and outright violence would abate naturally as peoplewound down from the heightened passions of the election.
Theyhaven’t. On the 15thof April (two days ago,) yet another wave of mass protests werestaged across the country, with the theme being “Trump shouldrelease his tax returns.” The closest one to me was only twelvemiles distant, in Ann Arbor, MI. Home of the University of Michigan, the city’s small, wealthy, ultra-left and nestled in the middle of aconservative, rural area - and the protest’s highlight speakers(including a few Senators) delivered their speeches on theUniversity’s quad. (Thisis the exact kind of campus speaking event that Antifa used violenceand thuggery to silence at Berkeley when the speaker wasconservative.)Obama-appointed government officials have openly defied the lawfulorders of the sitting President, and been openly and loudly laudedfor it by the left wing. Members of our intelligence agencies havecommitted actual, unambiguous treason by leaking classified intelligence to acorporate media that writes every article with malice aforethought ina concerted and untiring effort to undermine the legitimacy of theoffice of the President of the United States. The left has proudlybragged of the multiplemunicipal governments - you know, cities - swearing to defyFederal law and law enforcement authorities, and some have evencalled for left-wing enclave California to secedefrom the Union. Theyhave scrambled to erect every possible barrier to the President’scabinet nominations, damn the consequences to effective governance, and the unfolding intelligence scandal is revealing how the power ofsecretive agencies was abused by Obama’s administration to undermineand slander his incoming successor. And of course, there’s thethuggery and violence on the street, waged by the likes of Antifa.
Theseare the tangible consequences ofthe left wing’s constant calls for “resistance” to the President- these are notjust words, but a national policy that’s been put into action. Thisisn’t justcute pins to show off to your lit club buddies how “woke” you are- it’s widespread, tangible popular support for the politicians, bureaucrats and businessmen working towards their ends. And thoughthey might call that end “resistance,” theyreally meanrevolution.
DanielGreenfield of Frontpage Magazine wrote a beautifullysuccinct summary that you should absolutelyread in full, but his mostcrucial paragraphs were these:
“There is no form of legal authority that the left acceptsas a permanent institution. It only utilizes forms of authorityselectively when it controls them. But when government officialsrefuse the orders of the duly elected government because theirallegiance is to an ideology whose agenda is in conflict with thePresident and Congress, that’s not activism, protest, politics orcivil disobedience; it’s treason.
After losing Congress, the left consolidated its authority inthe White House. After losing the White House, the left shifted itscenter of authority to Federal judges and unelected governmentofficials. Each defeat led the radicalized Democrats to relocate frommore democratic to less democratic institutions.
This isn’t just hypocrisy. That’s a common political sin.Hypocrites maneuver within the system. The left has no allegianceto the system. It accepts no laws other than those dictated by itsideology.
Democrats have become radicalized by the left. This doesn’tjust mean that they pursue all sorts of bad policies. It means thattheir first and foremost allegiance is to an ideology, not theConstitution, not our country or our system of government. All ofthose are only to be used as vehicles for their ideology.
That’s why compromise has become impossible.”
The ideological divide in the left wingis nothing new - it started in earnest in 1969, when thesocialist-communist bloc of the party first gained real tractionversus the “classic” New Deal progressive Democrats. The rift hasgrown steadily since then, culminating in the last election, when theNew Deal Democrats, the blue-collar union voters flipped the “bluewall” of the Rust Belt red for the first time since Reagan. Thedifference now is that the socialist-communist based branch ofthe party now control it, definitively. Their ideology andvalues are completely alien to the founding principles of America, the principles for which its laws were built to enshrine, nurture, and protect. This is why political compromise has grown more and moredifficult in America - the common ground between parties simplydoesn’t exist, and even if it did, socialist-communistideology has never been based on the concept of compromise orreconciliation.
Communist ideology is based onrevolution - in fact it’s a cornerstoneof the ideology. Revolution, by definition, is a complete andutter rejection of the legitimacy of the existing structure ofsociety. The left wing reveals their disdain for our society ineverything they say and do - their perennial crusade against everyaspect of capitalism, (“Big Whatever,” “Occupy Wall-Street,”)their endless trust in the sanctity and flawlessness of publicinstitutions versus “greedy” private enterprise and, above all, their unceasing devotion to righting the myriad “crimes” of“social injustice.” Hell, with “social injustice” it’s rightthere in the name. They reject, on every possible level, the mostbasic building blocks of Western society in general.
The true significance of Antifa is thewidespread popular support their thuggery has received from the leftwing - it indicates the final abandonment of any pretense todemocracy or fair dealing on their part. This is precisely why theirlanguage has taken on the tones of revolution and war as of late, dividing the populace into “us” versus “Nazis.” In oursecular society, Nazis are tantamount to demons; inhuman, beneathconsideration save through a rifle scope. The label’s a simple andeffective way to dehumanize people, and that’s the first step in theconditioning required to kill.
It’s already accelerating. After theBerkeley police made a point of confiscating weapons - and anythingusable as a weapon - from anyone converging on the park ahead of thelatest scuffle in Berkeley, Antifa took to reddit to argue foroutright arming themselves withfirearms. (Note how California’s ban on open carry, implementedby DemocraticGov. Jerry Brown in 2011 suddenly becomes Reagan’s fault.) Andother outlets are calling for leftists todegrade or destroy any government apparatus they do not control.
We have been down this roadbefore, more than once - the spate of anarchistbombings back in 1919, the radical left terrorist bombings by theWeathermanUnderground, and many others. But even at the height of anti-waractivism in the late 60s and early 70s, things were never thisbad. Much of it owes to new media - it’s atrophied theonce-ironfast stranglehold the corporate media had on politicaldiscourse in this nation, which has pushed the left wing to resort tomore brutish tactics to silence their opposition - doxxing, threats, intimidation and, of course, “de-platforming.” New media has alsoallowed the classic “grassroots” organizational tactics pioneeredby Chicago machine politics to go large-scale (moveon.org et al.) Theolder people, the wiser people, the experienced and the jaded - I’vetalked to them all, and they all agree that it has never been thisbad. The battle lines have been clearly drawn and the battles arebeing waged openly, vigorously and without apology.
Not every Democrat or liberal isa leftist - far, far from it, in fact. But I fear that the Democraticparty is far too gone for the sane people to reassert controlover it. As Greenfield points out, the left has retreated to“cultural urban and suburban enclaves where it has centralizedtremendous amounts of power while disregarding the interests andvalues of most of the country. If it considers them at all, it isconvinced that they will shortly disappear to be replaced bycompliant immigrants and college indoctrinated leftists who will forma permanent demographic majority for its agenda. But it couldn’twait that long because it is animated by the conviction thatenforcing its ideas is urgent and inevitable. And so it turned whathad been a hidden transition into an open break.” Thesepeople, long assured of their intrinsic superiority, are nowconfident in their eventual supremacy - and thus they are contestingthe legitimacy of the President of the United States, and indeed ourentire government, directly. We have been down this path before, too- it led to the Civil War.
That phrase - civil war- is the second reason I letthis post percolate for so long. I’m naturally antithetical tohysterical “sky is falling” arguments, as they’re invariably fullof shit and trying to sway people with fear and emotion, the facts beutterly damned. The current spate of gay, lesbian and transgender people buying guns for self-defenseagainst the imaginary hordes of Right-Wing Gestapo comes as nosurprise, because I’ve watched Conservatives panic-buying AR-15safter every shooting on the evening news for eight goddamn years. Andfor eight years I called them hooting morons becauseObama’s desire to “gitall yer gunz” far, far outstrippedhis ability to do so,legally and politically. Political vigilance against gun control isalways needed, yes, but people rushing to the stores and stockpiling(then-scarce) ammo in their basement were expecting a ban tomorrow, despite over a decade ofDemocrats losing ground on the national gun control debate, to saynothing of the Supreme Court rulings upholding - and incorporating -an individual right to keep and bear arms. Andthe ones I scorned and mocked the most were the ones insisting theymight need to use theirnew rifles in the not-so-distant future; that social unrest and evenviolence was just around the corner. I held these people to be theright-wing incarnation of the hysterical left-wing ninnies I soloathed and spared not my scorn, because being on myside of the fence didn’t make them any less an idiot.
Theday after the Berkeley riot, I decided it was about time I got off myass and purchased an AR-15.
For the first time in my life, Iam truly afraid for my country - and for my friends, my family, andmyself.

Thoughts on Digimon Adventure tri.: “Confession”
Well, I was putting this off a bit because this “movie” is a bit longer than the others and a lot of the content itself has more depth, so there’s even more to talk about than the last two. But I need to hurry up and get this one done because the fourth entry, “Loss” is coming out this week and I’ll be talking about that too. By then, I should finally be able to spare some time on Tamers. So if “Confession” is longer and just has more content in general, how does it hold up? Well, let me start talking about it under the break.
IF YOU ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO FEELS AND EMOTIONS THEN THESE EPISODES WILL RIP YOUR HEART OUT, STOMP ON IT AND THEN SPIT ON ITS REMAINS FOR GOOD MEASURE.
I mean, that’s my personal opinion anyway.
There is one thing I do have to see about Digimon Adventure tri that I haven’t said so far, but as of now it only applies to entries 1-3 since I can’t make judgment on future ones: The series gets better and better with each set of episodes.
“Reunion” had a slow start and didn’t even have the best battles or animation, but it had some nice moments and it was good to see the DigiDestined with their Digimon again. “Determination” was indeed a lot of filler, but it began to improve on the animation and had some really strong moments of character development when it called for it, as well as having my favorite battle scene so far.
“Confession” does a lot of things that tri was really beginning to need, which may explain why there was a bigger gap between it and “Determination” than there was with “Reunion” and “Determination”. It finally begins to get the plot rolling, the animation is at its best as of this point in the series, the character interaction and development is powerful and it’s overall a really good watch--one that might have you bawling and needing a buddy to hug it out like I did. Still, it’s not without its own flaws that I’ll get to later.
When I say the plot gets rolling here, I mean the stakes really start to get high. Yes, the previous episodes established that there are distortions causing Digimon to enter the real world and they’re rampaging irrationally due to some sort of infection. There’s also the fact that the Digimon Kaiser seems to have suddenly returned and may or may not be the cause of these events. But we didn’t get any sort of answers or details on these things, and going on this long with almost nothing is pretty frustrating and gives a really slow and unnatural pace for the plot. Here, it kicks into full gear and it was necessary by this point.
I feel like most people who know me would be ready for me to complain about Kari once again being used as a vessel for Homeostasis to do a plot dump. But somehow... it’s really not that bad here. It’s arguably no different than what was done in the original Digimon Adventure, except in that Kari unfortunately still had almost no character established at that point and it was not only used as plot exposition but also as a plot device to stop Tai and Matt’s fight in that episode. And while we did need some answers when this happened in the original series, here it was needed even more than ever because tri had been keeping its own audience so in the dark about almost everything. Arguably, tri’s execution of not telling us much of anything is worse, but the timing of Homeostasis doing said plot exposition was still better and the stakes feel higher with all of the Digimon partners’ safety and memories being in danger compared to Tai and Matt having another fight (this isn’t to say I thought their conflict wasn’t powerful, but the former clearly has more emotional weight over the latter for the audience).
Again, somehow I’ve warmed up a lot more to Kari in this series than I ever did in the original or Adventure 02. She has moments that feel more like she has the trait of good intuition rather than the sueish “Oh no I can feel the sadness of some mysterious creature nearby that I have never seen or interacted with before in my entire life”. Maybe if I were to rewatch both series, I wouldn’t feel the negative stigmatism I have had towards her as much in the past, but she’s still overall better in tri. She just feels like an actual human being, so she doesn’t really feel tacked on like in previous seasons.
Now as for the main plot that begins to roll in throughout “Confession”, it not only starts to get good and interesting, but it also hits like a truck. By having Izzy working on keeping the Digimon safe from infection towards the beginning, we already can tell that the infection is going to happen. But rather than just building up the possibility of it for a majority of the episodes, the writers cut to the chase with Patamon being infected and uncontrollably biting and hurting T.K., while T.K. tries to get him to stop. And after seeing this happen, T.K. becomes overly protective of Patamon and takes him home. But it doesn’t take Patamon long to find this out himself, and the two have a powerful heart-to-heart together.
This heart-to-heart is arguably the most powerful and heart-wrenching moment of tri so far, and honestly one of the most in the Digimon Adventure series’ history. Even the animation for it is gorgeous and really well done, even with it being so tragic. The build-up works really well, and hearing and watching Patamon acknowledge his infection to T.K. with a smile honestly made me think this was going to be a nightmare sequence T.K. was experiencing. But no, Patamon was just keeping a strong face and was already prepared for the worst, even asking T.K. to “finish him” if he starts to hurt others due to his infection. And then the two simply hold and hug each other while crying together.
I have no idea what it is about T.K., whether it’s how his character has been established or what, but somehow it feels like the writers always know how to handle his character, and they handle said character magnificently. He has had incredible moments of development and action in all three series, whether he continues to make a great duo with Patamon, overcomes his own fears or inner demons, is being a badass, or just breaks into pieces. I’d honestly argue that he’s the most well-balanced character in the series. I don’t know how the writers or even T.K. does it, but perhaps he’s just one of those characters that simply writes himself.
Basically, “Confession” moves the whole infection plot. Sure, it was around since the beginning of the series, but it only really became central until the end of “Determination” and becomes downright personal in these episodes. We see all of the partner Digimon are gradually becoming infected, and Homeostasis reveals the whole “reboot” plot point in which every partner prepares for the worst and begins to spend their best time with each of their human partners as possible. It honestly hurts to watch, with some of them knowing the worst that could happen and are hiding their feelings behind smiles, and then... T.K. holding Patamon as his infection spreads because DAMMIT, THE WRITERS KNOW HOW TO HURT ME!
Along with the intense feels and moving along the whole infection plot, the Digimon Kaiser is confirmed to be... Gennai? Maybe? It’s at least something, even though it was pretty clear that the Digimon Kaiser couldn’t have been the Ken we know considering the beginning of “Reunion” and that in one of these episodes, T.K. and Kari actually visit Ken’s apartment, but he’s not there. Still, Gennai... was the last thing I was expecting. Granted, I was wondering where the hell he was, but this isn’t what I was thinking. Still, we don’t even know if this is actually the real Gennai or if he’s being controlled in some way or if this is one of those weird things he does. If he actually were evil though, it’d really change a lot of my perception of Digimon and I don’t think it’s something the writers should just go and do blindly. Sure, Gennai has always been shrouded in mystery, but doing a “lol he was actually evil!” plot would just be there for cheap shock value. I definitely think there’s something deeper going on here, as well as for Himekawa. It’s clear she’s an antagonist, but I think she could have some genuine motives behind her actions. But this also makes me curious whether Daigo is involved with this, was dragged into it, is completely unaware, or will do anything to go against Himekawa, since it’s clear the two have had different agendas from the beginning. That, or he could just end up being a third wheel, but I’m hoping that’s not the case.
Not to mention, I think there’s more depth to this whole “reboot” thing. While it does seem like the main Digimon partners have lost their memories, there’s still some suspicious things going on and the fact that Meicoomon still remembers Meiko... somehow. I really don’t know if the memory loss is going to be permanent. For some people, their memories coming back would probably seem like a cop out. But on the other hand, I feel like their memories being gone changes a lot about the relationships of the DigiDestined and their Digimon. Sure, they can rebuild new relationships, but everything before? Gone. A lot loses significance in the process, and I hope that it’s not all lost. It kind of feels false to really have everything forgotten forever otherwise. A lot of the strong development that the DigiDestined have had with their Digimon in the past would not have strength and relevance for the rest of tri and on. Maybe things would still feel strong for the DigiDestined, but not so much for the Digimon, and I feel really mixed because of that. Whether the Digimon actually retrieve their memories or not, I think that either way, the writers are going to have to handle things very carefully from here on out. They can’t just pretend that everything is the same once the DigiDestined form new bonds with their Digimon, and they can’t just give the Digimon their memories back without some good explanation.
On the note of good explanations... I’m just going to get Meicoomon and Meiko out of the way now, even though there are a few good plot bits I have left to discuss. I’ve been really trying to give both a chance, but despite that Digimon Adventure tri continues to improve with each entry, Meiko seems to get worse with each one in the process. Not even original Kari is this bad. As bland as original Kari was, she at least felt important and relevant, despite feeling a bit tacky. Meiko only continues to feel further shoved into this entire world, and Meicoomon somehow retaining memories unlike the other Digimon partners definitely gives the “special snowflake” feel, unless they have a damn good explanation for it.
I can’t help but feel the writers were trying to give me reason to care about Meiko in these episodes, and I honestly want to believe that. But at the same time, I feel like it only made me start to hate her. Yes, I’m reaching hate territory for this character now. I wasn’t against some of her despair over losing Meicoomon and seeing her Dark Digivolve. That makes sense. But after the reboot, her reaction to the whole thing makes her an almost downright despicable character. I feel like maybe they were trying to give her flaws here, but these are not the kind of flaws you should throw onto new characters who already have mixed reception from the audience and have barely had any other development beforehand. The fact that she’s “glad” the Digimon situation is over because of the reboot not only makes her come across as really selfish but also insensitive towards the other DigiDestined. It did not make me like her more by seeing flaws slapped onto her--it made me even more resentful because they’re flaws that honestly make her a rather ugly character. I didn’t pity her. I couldn’t pity her. I honestly tried to. I felt like the writers crossed a line that they shouldn’t have for her character. And yet, I still want to give her character a chance. Maybe this is all leading to an inevitable reform that she grows strong from, but it still doesn’t take out the bad taste in my mouth from her awful behavior. It’s not one of those situations where “a bad person makes a good character”. We’re supposed to like Meiko, and yet I can’t bring myself to like her despite my efforts to try to understand just what the hell the writers are trying to do.
Okay, that chip is off my shoulder, because there are still some other great story elements in this. Izzy actually gets some really good character development towards the end, feeling helplessness and frustration for not having the sufficient knowledge to analyze the infection despite his efforts. While it’s kind of similar to Joe’s own struggles, Joe was more focused on how he didn’t want to be involved as a DigiDestined but didn’t know what was right because he also wants to focus on being a normal person, but he hates himself for not doing anything. Izzy on the other hand, wants to be involved but simply cannot find the answer, and it’s because of that he feels useless. While Izzy did get a fair amount of development in past series, this is another one of those instances where I felt he got some that he always needed.
This also applies for Tentomon as well. Again, this isn’t to say Tentomon hasn’t had development before, but he’s definitely an underdog among the Digimon partners and has served as more of the “guide” character than anything. Tentomon not only shows to be very supportive of Izzy in his time of weakness, he also takes on some leadership in the final (and pretty much only) fight in “Confession”. His selfless actions of trying to preserve the memories of all of the other Digimon, despite having become infected, is a pretty strong moment for him and it was a great way to execute his evolution to HerculesKabutarimon. Though it’s the only fight in “Confession”, it’s painful to watch each Digimon fight each other as well as fight their infection, especially seeing Patamon fly into battle willingly against T.K.’s wishes, and man does it hurt. It makes the countdown to reboot all the more painful with how slowly it moves, in complete silence, and you can’t help but want to believe there’s a chance their memories could have been preserved. But seeing the Digimon disappear at the end just made my heart sink, knowing HerculesKabuterimon tried to save everyone, knowing the Digimon have lost their memories, knowing they wanted to spend their best moments with their human partners... Even if it’s not the most “badass” fight, it’s certainly one of the strongest but also hardest to watch.
Despite how long it took for the plot to really get moving, I have to applaud it for some of its foreshadowing, especially the coding due to the infection. Immediately while watching “Reunion”, I noticed the code using 0′s, 1′s but also 2′s in the Digivolution animation. I found it strange that it wasn’t binary code, especially since binary was used towards the end of the original Digimon Adventure, but considering it was just shown for Digivolution animations, I decided to shrug it off as just an aesthetic choice. The fact that this was actually a plot point snuck in from the beginning was really clever and I have to give credit where it’s due. It sustains the feeling that certain plot points don’t feel like asspulls and it just helps the plot and story feel cohesive overall rather than disconnected since a lot of these episodes are separated into “movies”.
One theme that I also really like that I’m seeing is this sort of theme surrounding adulthood. It’s natural that this would be covered in a Digimon series targetted for an older audience, but it honestly resonates really well, especially in “Confession”. Throughout tri, the DigiDestined have been struggling with the fact that they’re growing up but still remain as the DigiDestined. But after losing their Digimon partners, they can’t bring themselves to move on. They want to see them, even if their memories are lost. But it’s not necessarily a theme about not growing up, but rather you can grow up but still cling to the things that were precious to you as a child and continue to make you happy. And considering what Digimon Adventure tri is, that’s a really clever and strong theme to have. This is more of my own speculation than anything, but it’s the vibe I feel, and since a lot of tri’s audience are young adults who watched the show as children, it’s a relatable theme to go with.
Honestly, the story really takes the show when it comes to “Confession”. The animation is really good, with its occasional weird in-between frames as all animation has but it’s nowhere near as obvious as in “Reunion”. A lot of expressions are really well down and movement is fluid. The lighting of scenes fit when necessary--bringing in the lights at happier moments (though in all honesty those are a bit more few and far in-between) and bringing in the darker and less vibrant colors when it wants to break your heart. I will say that the Digital World doesn’t feel quite as pastel or crayon-like as it does in Digimon Adventure, but I still appreciate that it’s going to be an actual prevalent location in tri. I was concerned that all of it would pretty much take place in the “real world”.
There’s not much to say about the soundtrack either, other than that it remains powerful. I really liked the use of Butter-Fly as an insert song when the DigiDestined decide they want to see their Digimon again. But at the same time, I really wonder what the dub will do with that because just hearing “Digi Digi Digimon” over and over simply will not work for such an emotionally powerful moment. But this isn’t about the dub that may not even happen for another couple of years. The music overall is still really good, and is especially moving for me during Patamon and T.K.’s heart-to-heart and the final battle with HerculesKabuterimon.
“Confession” definitely isn’t perfect, but a lot of things aren’t. It’s still incredibly good when it comes to making you feel emotional turmoil, and I’m glad that it finally gave a plot with more depth when tri was seriously lacking a strong main plot and seemed to be focusing more on sub-plots for quite a while. It really emphasizes on some of the strong bonds between the DigiDestined and their partner Digimon, which has always been one of my favorite parts of Digimon as a whole.
I won’t deny that with as much of the good “Confession” has done, it makes me really skeptical of how “Loss” will be handled. While I’m definitely looking forward to watching it, the writers will need to be incredibly careful with a lot of plot elements from here on because they’re working with a lot of risky material at this point. I’m going to try to have a positive outlook for it, but there’s no real way to be certain. I can only hope for the best, which I really hope “Loss” provides. I hope it makes me happy, tugs at my heart strings just right, and continues to keep me enthusiastic for Digimon Adventure tri.

3 Ways To Connect With Busy Entrepreneurs
While speaking to my buddy Jacob recently, we reviewed our list of shared good friends, associates, and peers. As we responded to each other with various names, I realized I 'd met several of these people with someone else. I understand it's a saying to claim it's who you know rather then what you understand, but to a large level it's true.
If you work for yourself like me, or you're a business owner, company owner, or exec, you know the relevance of relationships. It's why we both share an usual love for Contactually, a system developed to assist you construct and also support them.
Simply placed, recognizing people offers vast benefits: knowledge, intros, job, chance, mentorship, concepts, and so on.
So whoever you are as well as whatever it is you do, boosting your links ought to be high on your agenda, and as somebody who's interviewed 160+ motivating individuals for my most recent publication, the power on the offer is great.
But you don't require to write a book or generate a podcast to get in touch with active people, merely possessing the willingness to satisfy them, aid them, being thoughtful and also appealing is essential. As well as although there are many reasons that you should permanently network, there's one that stands head-and-shoulders above the rest ...
The Single Reason You Should Attach With Hectic Entrepreneurs
You're surrounded by busy entrepreneurs. Online and also offline, they're the ones who possess effective jobs, understand everyone, and have actually accumulated years of experience. Whoever you are, you ought to intend to connect with them for one simple factor:
OPPORTUNITY
Don't reach out to them for any kind of various other reason than the chance that they provide. This capacity could be available in the kind of job or an intro. It might occur within weeks or years down the line.
This alone suffices reason due to the fact that exactly what else is an entrepreneur, yet a person available to opportunity?
Do not get in touch with individuals for alternate factors. Don't expect anything in return. I have actually existed and also done it, and all it brings about is an angry associate and a sleepless night. Connect in the expertise that when you do, you open up a box of possibility that might literally transform your life.
With this in mind, allow's look into just how you can link with busy business owners and stand out while doing so.
1. Be Consistent
If I really did not have a book to create, I would not have gotten in touch with 160+ inspiring entrepreneurs. The publication kept me consistent, waking up each morning recognizing I had 5 people to discover, email, as well as invite right into the journey.
Your entrepreneurial life's active and also stressful, so it's easy to send an odd e-mail occasionally and also assume you make a dent.
You don't. Your connections need to be a day-to-day part of your world, and also it's those that do so that see the best benefits.
One of the vital differences in between an effective and also unsuccessful individual is uniformity because doing something every day without failing makes a difference. If you wake up at 6 a.m. each morning and also invest 30 minutes locating 3 brand-new individuals to get to out to, read their most current post/article, and send them an email ... this equates to 1,095 new connections each year.
Imagine the possibility that awaits you. Envision all the amazing knowledge you'll devour.
All because you spend Thirty Minutes each early morning committing to the fine art of linking. All because you prefer to make your links a fundamental part of your world.
If you intend to get in touch with busy business owners, after that commit to the source and appear each day. Soon they'll be the ones introducing you to new connections since people respect somebody who turns up for the appropriate factors daily without fail.
2. Follow Up
When I first started my Successful Mistake trip, I didn't adhere to up with individuals. Scared, I encouraged myself that if a person is also active to read as well as respond to my very first email, a second e-mail will just frustrate them further.
This could not be further from the fact, as I really recognize individuals who utilize follows-ups as a method to filter their inbox. Do not get me incorrect, if you follow-up five times within five days, that indicates you're irritating and also crazy.
But if you comply with up with a short as well as individual e-mail a few days later, that busy business owner understands you're significant. They know you aren't some robotic or part of a spammy project. They appreciate your time because they value exactly how useful their very own is.
Once I eliminated my following-up concern, I observed a large distinction in the replies I obtained. I learned that follow-ups function since:
Your initial email may finish up in their junk folder.
You caught them at a bad time.
They checked your message but didn't get chance to reply.
They accidentally swiped left on their apple iphone and also erased you.
You slid to the base throughout a crazy day of inbox mayhem.
These are hectic entrepreneurs nevertheless, so do not think silence indicates indifference. See it as an opportunity to re-engage as well as stand out from the group-- which leads us to ...
3. Be Unique
Do you believe you're the only individual aiming to obtain on their radar?
I recognize they may get upwards of 300 e-mails every day, so sending something to their inbox (especially if they do not know that you are) might not be the very best means to catch their focus. Twitter, on the various other hand, or Linkedin ... Snapchat ... Facebook ... their mail box ... could be.
In the exclusive webinar I'm doing with Contactually, we'll go with several of the devices I use to stand out, and you could start the process today by asking yourself two questions:
Where do they hangout?
What would certainly 90 % of individuals NEVER do?
This may lead you to social media, actual letter-writing, creating a short video email, a discuss their website joining a group, forum, and/or charity you understand they're enthusiastic about.
Remember, you're doing this since you want to get in touch with them as well as open the box of opportunity. So long as you're type and thoughtful, they'll be delighted to fulfill you-- besides, they obtained to where they are by attaching with folk themselves.
Who will you get in touch with appropriate now?
There are lots of ways you could attach with busy business owners, and we'll look at even more of them (plus the devices as well as strategies I use) in the special webinar: The Devices You Required To Attach With Prominent Entrepreneurs.
It's complimentary to sign up with, however do not delay due to the fact that it'll fill out swiftly. But exactly what I hope you extract from this short article above everything else is the significance of linking with individuals-- specifically those that frighten you a little, and also that you regard from your league.
They're not, and also you could get in touch with them if you correspond, distinct, as well as keep in mind to follow-up.
So before I leave you, I have an obstacle I wish you'll approve: Get to out to three individuals that scare you TODAY!
Maybe they're an entrepreneur or somebody else you appreciate, as well as although an e-mail may be sufficient, possibly you need to assume beyond the box to reach them. Do just what you should do, and also please share your encounter in the comments here. I can't wait to see who you get in touch with, and address any concerns you may have.

On the Road. Again.
If you’re wondering what it’s like when Karl travels, I’ll start off by saying I made myself a rum and coke after dinner and decided on one more half shot before sitting down to unwind here. Someone posted a question this week asking me what it’s like to parent when Karl is out of town. If you need a mental image, picture those guys who get into a metal cage and lower themselves into the ocean to watch sharks. Now picture that same guy covered in sardines with a glass cage. A glass cage with a large crack in it. Surrounded by great whites. That’s sort of how it is. I always compared parenting to cooking lobster. Parents, we’re the lobsters.
To cook a lobster, you start with a live one. You drop the lobster into the pot and slowly bring the water to a boil. The lobster gets comfortable, but before they know it they’re in HOT WATER and probably screaming in lobsterese “HELP ME, I HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS GETTING INTO”.
That, in a nutshell, is parenting. I often laugh with Karl about how hard it was when Vinny was little. We would set him on one side of the room, watch an entire episode of Breaking Bad, stand up, and move Vinny from wherever he rolled to back to his original spot. All the while whining about how hard it was.
I had no idea when I was full of grief over one small person how hard parenting would be down the road. I don’t mean to undermine first time parents in any way at all. Having a baby dropped into you world changes everything. But back then I wish I had known what God had in store for us as far as moving, working, and our daily agendas. My children are easily the most incredible little things I’ve ever witnessed. They find new ways each day to make me enjoy life and find meaning within myself. However, when Karl is gone, they are a challenge, to say the least. Our mornings start with a whirlwind. Things that are so seemingly small tend to create the biggest issues. Waffles cut wrong. Socks with “weird fuzzy toes”. Telling someone they cannot jump on my couch or lick dog bones. With Karl gone it seems as though I am tossed into the lion’s den.
Karl started traveling when Vinny was about 5 months old. I had spent night after night worrying and praying. He was working so hard at a job that was not cutting it to provide for me and this precious human we had created. We were barely getting by when he got an interview with his current company and it was absolutely the answer to the prayers I had spent night after night sending up. He started off traveling to Oklahoma and Texas to train for his engineering position. I spent the first time he was away in Danville with my MIL because I thought there was NO WAY I would survive. I didn’t realize it was a semi-permanent situation. His first rounds of travel consisted of two weeks away followed by a brief few days home. I was frazzled, missing my boyfriend (at the time), and feeling guilty for wanting him home so badly when we had waited on this job for so long. I still do.
Until we got the call that we were moving. Far. Karl assured me that when we went to Pittsburgh, he would no longer have to put in long travel times and things would finally calm down so that he could come home after his shifts. I was completely distraught thinking about leaving my mom and in laws and all of my friends from home, but full of relief that I would no longer be spending all of my time solo. I was struggling to parent and exist as a human. I woke up with Vinny, ate all of my meals with Vinny, slept next to Vinny, spent every waking moment of free time with Vinny, and conversed with his Hug Me Elmo. I called my mom three times a day and searched hopelessly for ways to forget that when I got home at night, I would be there by myself. As hard as it was to leave Danville (yeah, I said it), I was prepared to go along side of this man I loved so much to have him with me more often.
The traveling did stop. But then it didn’t. We had a good year of local jobs where Karl was home between his odd hours. Leaving the house at 3 am and returning at 6 or 7 pm. Or leaving at 3 pm and coming home at 7 am just to sleep all morning. The traveling stopped but the exhaustion didn’t. The guilt crept back in and I felt myself slipping away from the inner peace I was promised as I grasped to any normalcy at all to adjust to our strange new schedule. At least when Karl was gone we had a schedule we could stick to. With strange hours we were all tired. We were all cranky. We were all trying our hardest to adjust and hide our feelings of frustration with this abnormal lifestyle. So we decided to have another baby because life wasn’t crazy enough. It wasn’t until Theo was born that the traveling started again. I came home from the hospital, excited to have two weeks of home time with Karl and the kids. But my post baby glow quickly turned to a flush of panic when Karl got his schedule and found out that once again, he had to go. I had a newborn who didn’t sleep (but that’s another whole post in itself), a toddler who so desperately needed my affection in his transition, and a husband who would be leaving.
As the kids have grown, so have our schedules. We have soccer, school, church, library mornings, work, and so many other activities to attend that my head wants to spin, but in all of the commotion, we have grown into a better couple because of it. You know that they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Honestly, if we didn’t have time away from each other, one of us would be collecting a life insurance policy illegally. Just kidding. But for real. I have found my place in Pittsburgh. My home. I have surrounded myself with incredible moms, a church I am in love with, and two tiny people who are not only my best buddies in the world, but my companions and teachers in motherhood. I have watched Karl leave our house teary eyed because his heart aches so immensely having to leave us behind. But to answer the question “what is it like when your hubby travels”, it is just normal. It has become our sense of what life is and how we work as a family unit. I have friends whose husbands bravely serve our country and leave for months and years on end and I don’t know how they do it. It is hectic and wild. It is lonesome and heartbreaking at times. But it is the reason I treasure my husband. His sacrifice each week that consists of lonely hotel rooms and long rides is one that he makes out of love to assure we have a comfortable life. If I was not surrounded by so much love, surely I would not survive. But I have learned to tread on. Moms, we are never alone. If we pull our heads full of unwashed hair out of the sand long enough to look around, we’ll see how many more of us there are. Each day is a learning experience, on our own or not. You just have to find the joy in it.

A BRUTAL ASSESSMENT OF THE RESULTS OF THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION – THE OBAMA ERA IS OVER
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
A BRUTAL ASSESSMENT OF THE RESULTS OF THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
What really happened this election? Perhaps this provides a few answers.
Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam.
THE OBAMA ERA IS OVER
Obama and his supporters loved talking about history. His victory was historic. They were on the right side of history. History was an inevitable arc that bent their way.
The tidal force of demographics had made the old America irrelevant. Any progressive policy agenda was now possible because we were no longer America. We Were Obamerica. A hip, happening place full of smiling gay couples, Muslim women in hijabs and transgender actors. We were all going to live in a New York City coffee house and work at Green Jobs and live in the post-national future.
The past was gone. We were falling into the gorgeous wonderful future of dot-com instant deliveries and outsourced everything. We would become more tolerant and guilty. The future was Amazon and Disney. It was hot and cold running social justice. The Bill of Rights was done. Ending the First and Second Amendments was just a clever campaign away. Narratives on news sites drove everything.
Presidents were elected by SaturdayNight Live skits. John Oliver, John Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Samantha Bee were our journalists. Safe spaces were everywhere and you better watch your microaggressions, buddy. No more coal would be mined. No more anything would be made. The end of men was here. The end of the dead white men of the literary canon. The end of white people. The end of binary gender and marriage. The end of reason. The end of art. The end of 2 + 2 equaling 4. This was Common Core time. It was time to pardon an endless line of drug dealers. To kill cops and praise criminals. To be forced to buy worthless health insurance for wealth redistribution to those who voted their way to wealth.
This was Obama’s America. And there was no going back. We were rushing through endless goal posts of social transformation. The military fell. Then the police. Now it looks as quaint as anything from the 50s, the 70s or the 80s. A brief moment of foolishness that already appears odd and awkward. And then one day nostalgic. It wasn’t the future. It’s already the past. It’s history
Scalia died. Hillary Clinton was bound to win. And she would define the Supreme Court. Downticket races would give her a friendly Senate. And then perhaps the House.
But there is no right side of history. There is only the side we choose.
The Obama era was permanent. It was history.
Now it is history.
Its shocking ascendancy has been paired with an equally shocking descent. The Obama era is done. It’s gone. It’s over. It was wiped from the pages of history in one night that left Congress and the White House in Republican hands.
It would have been bad enough if Jeb Bush had succeeded Obama. That would have been inconvenient, but not a repudiation. Instead, Obama’s legacy was dashed to pieces. His frantic efforts to campaign for Hillary did no good. The public did not vocally reject him. What they did was in its own way even worse. They brushed past him. They sidelined him. They gave him passable approval ratings while dismissing his biggest accomplishments. They forgot him. They made it clear that he did not matter.
And that is in its own way far more brutal and wounding. They didn’t just destroy the Obama era. Instead, they dismissed it as if it never existed.
Obama didn’t make history after all. He wasn’t a teleprompter demi-god standing athwart of history. He was Carter and Ford. He was there to be forgotten. He didn’t change the world. He wasn’t the messiah. He was merely mortal. Just another politician who will sag and age. Who will, in the end, be photographed like Bill Clinton, lonely and lost in a world that has passed him by.
The Obama era ends not with a bang, but with a whimper. With a national consensus that maybe he didn’t really matter so much after all. And those to whom he mattered the most were his enemies determined to undo everything he did.
Obama once thought that he belonged to the ages. Now he belongs in the rubbish bin.
It might be impolite or even impolitic to shout: Hooray!
A BRUTAL ASSESSMENT OF THE RESULTS OF THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION – THE OBAMA ERA IS OVER A BRUTAL ASSESSMENT OF THE RESULTS OF THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION - THE OBAMA ERA IS OVER…
