haunted halloweek || masquerade ball outfit → nic rogers

call me, beep me, if you wanna reach me--nic has opted to go as one of the best cartoon characters of all time: kim possible. and who is kim without ron? thankfully she roped in her roommate Bennett to joining her on this adventure--what a guy right? 

halloween is about being anyone you want to be though, right? at least, that’s what ruby says. so, thanks to ruby and her persuasive reasoning (and make over abiltiies), nic rogers is not only going to be wearing a costume during the halloween day but she will actually be dressing up for the masquerade ball. but nic is not completely overpowered--she’ll still be rocking her chucks under the dress (much to the chagrin of ruby). after all, if she’s going to be standing all night in a dress, she might as well be somewhat comfortable.

it’s a bold choice. quite daring, really, taking on a... tough persona with a soul so soft around its edges. with hair slicked back and a fake cigarette tucked behind his ear, flip looks akin to the real deal.

we at the hotel, motel, holiday inn--or not. lia, not once in her life, ever thought she’d be attending a signing party--and certainly never in miami, florida. but as most things in her life, she is plesantly surprised at the chance to participate. plus, she’d never give up a chance to celebrate and support @moirasvnchez​ in all her endeavors. truth be told, she’s a little nervous to be wearing this outfit. she’d usually never show this much skin nor would she go as far as to (completely temporarily) dye her hair pink. but she’s...expanding her brand, as she’d overheard some people say a few days ago. and since moira is often the one at the helm of her doing so, she felt that choosing some risks would be the perfect way to celebrate her big accomplishment.

                 TASK NUMBER FIFTEEN: two truths && a lie !!

for our fifteenth task, we’re going to be having some fun with a little game. as we’re welcoming in new characters && members, we’d love to get to know all of your muses a little bit more with a game of two truths and a lie. you will write two truths and a lie based off of a topic that you are given. the basic format of this is someone drops a topic in your inbox, and you are to reply with two truths && a lie about your character(s). these can be as obvious or not as you wish, but you’re not to reveal which is which. (you can, if you want, if someone asks you, but on dash in the post ?? we want to keep it fun, so sharing which ones are truths && which one is the lie would give it away, yeah ??) two things to keep in mind: be creative !! make things up, have fun with it. this is meant to be good character development && make you think about your character(s). and two, when giving out subjects, try to keep it general. things you’re curious about. topics like career, love, family, pets, friends are super easy !! something super specific might take a little bit of fun out of it if it’s super stressful to think about. but if you know that it’s a topic/word that the particular character(s) could really relate to (maybe a favorite band, a person in their life, where they grew up, their vehicle), then go for it !! the truths && lies can get as deep && personal as you want. the goal of this task is to make you think a bit about your character(s), try to come up with something fun, deep, scary, real, and then throw in one lie to just entertain yourself. others in the group will get to know your character(s) a little bit more (with the exception of that one lie) && overall ?? it’s supposed to be a fun time !! for each ask your character answers, they’ll get 5 points each for each blurb. there’s no maximum amount of topics you can send out, but we do ask that you send at least three. 

how to play: for example, if someone gives you the word “school” in your inbox, you would reply with two truths && one lie about your character’s connection with school. say your character graduated high school && went to college on a scholarship, maybe do something like… 1) my character dropped out of high school. 2) my character was involved in greek life in college. 3) my character cried when taking the SATs. your answers can be as detailed or simple as you want. write a paragraph for each point, or keep it short and simple with a few words !! there’s no right or wrong way to play.

A Letter From My Muse to Another Muse 

Moira, 

I am not entirely sure why I’m writing this, but I felt compelled to I guess? I’ve been sat with a dog at my feet writing music for about 3 hours now. And, quite a few of them have been influenced by moments we’ve shared together. I guess this is just a thank you for not finding me annoying, accepting me for who I am versus some sort of image you made up for me in your head. Also, thanks for inspiring me to just do what I wish to, no matter what others think. I’ve been in a very premeditated mindset for a while now and I think that meeting you has changed that a lot. From that one weekend in Miami, the party, the pool and the nonsense that has happened since then. I just gotta thank you for some of the best weeks, and for just... being someone I enjoy being around and can always seek out for anything. I’ve not had that stability in someone for so, so long now. You’ve made me a better human, even if you don’t think that personally. So.... yeah, thanks for being you, ya cutie. I don’t think that’s a good nickname. I’ll work on it.

A Letter from the Mun to The Muse

Noah, 

When I started writing you, I was kinda nervous about it, since I was already writing two female muses, and I haven’t really written many male muses. It’s pretty familiar, but it’s always super daunting to write a new muse, especially one that’s been made from scratch. But, from writing you, I’ve gotten a lot more comfortable about letting my own goofy traits come out and it’s inspired me to want to play more music (which is so sad considering that I’m stuck at school without my guitar or the piano at home) . But it’s generally made me feel far more creative and just a lot better about a decent amount of things. You and Safiya’s flirty tendencies are really helping me line up some things for when I am able to actually go out and meet people when we’re able to. You also are living my dream of having a golden retriever so thanks for that too. Just thanks overall for being the best distraction from this crazy, crazy year we’ve been having.

A Letter to Me From Me 

Ashley,

This feels beyond weird to be writing, yet here I am. I want to start with the fact that you are doing so well despite how this year has been going. With classes, with life and everything going on in the world. You’ve managed to navigate some new friendships and still have some great experiences despite how the outcome of the year was looking. I also want to comment on your progress with your eating habits. I know you have been struggling with figuring out what’s going to be best for you to sustain and not continue to emotionally chow down on everything in sight. Compared to the beginning of this year, that has changed so much and I am so proud of you for it. Finding better coping mechanisms for your emotions has been such a healthy change. I also want to commend you for reaching out to get help for your mental health. I know you’ve been struggling, and it is so beyond okay to ask for help. I am proud of the changes you’ve been making in your social life, your personal life and just small things. You’ve become so much more responsible in this year alone (just think about all the things you’ve learned to do this year! From the best way to keep your laundry from piling up, your cooking, your drive and love for plants, your care for your car [and the fact you know how to take out a scratch in the paint !! adulting !!] and making smarter purchases with your money, as well as logically making great leaps and bounds about what food you should be eating, and determining what you should do versus not). Also!!! I am beyond proud of you for tagging along with your roommate to the gym. I know it hasn’t been very many trips. but they’re so encouraging none the less. You getting up and moving is so important. I want to wrap this up with one of the biggest compliments. Thank you for doing your best. I know you think that you’re not doing enough sometimes, and that spending far too much time in bed, or just staying in your room somedays is what you need to recharge, to reset and let your brain settle. Don’t feel like you have to push the ‘go’ button, every morning and to go all out everyday. You are allowed to make mistakes and make some relaxed days. As Rachel Hollis said, the beauty of life is that we have tomorrow to try again in the areas we want to improve upon. You are 21, you’re bound to make mistakes and struggle. I am just proud of you for making it to here, and most importantly: you’ve got 22 weeks before you graduate !!! 22 WEEKS. You are so close. Do not get discouraged. You’re being asked to do so much in unprecedented times. So for the year we’ve had, you’re absolutely killing it. 

You are doing so great. You don’t tell yourself this enough, but I love you, and I am proud of the progress you’ve made this year. 

Keep it up, bug.

Nic Rogers || Pride Prom →

For some, Prom might be a princess moment--not Nic Rogers. Nic had never felt a particular draw toward royalty--well, maybe Mia Thermopolis but even that wasn’t traditional. No, our infamous fashion faux pas has instead chosen to channel her inner Bond Girl. For once in her life--or maybe thrice (high school prom and wedding before this), the woman actually put effort into her outfit. And why shouldn’t she? It wasn’t often she got to dress up in a gown and heels. Even if it took about a million years to figure out her shoes. Thanks to @bicncasalazar, her make up doesn’t look like a complete disaster. Nic didn’t have a complete plan for her outfit in terms of intentionality. Her only goal was to find something comfortable and look damn good wearing it. And if if it gave some major badass woman vibes, an added bonus.

If there’s one part of Halloween that Brinlee truly loves it’s the dressing up, so imagine her excitement when she found out about the masquerade ball. For this year Brinlee had been thinking of a Persephone based costume anyway, so she let that inspire her gown for the evening. And for a girl who loves flowers so much, who better to be than the Greek goddess of springtime and flowers?

Pride Prom || Lia Barnes →

Lia has been dreaming about Prom since middle school--though she hadn’t actually started planning prom until around her sophomore year. As with all things Miss Barnes does, everything was intentional, especially the dress. Lia and Jack had picked the color scheme of their evening out together that year, but she picked her dress--and told no one. Not a single soul has ever seen this dress--and not a soul was going to, she thought. Never in her life was she more pleased that she had kept her dress all these years. The dress is a complete 180 from the ones she had worn for her pageants, and that was on purpose. First and foremost, she got to pick her dress, not her mother. She had picked a ballroom gown, one that didn’t hug her curves the way the other dresses did. She had wanted to feel different when she entered her prom, not as if she was on stage for all to see. She liked the way this dress fell around her, like she was floating. It was comfortable and it made her feel..well, like an actual princess. She couldn’t bear the idea of parting with it, and she’s glad she didn’t. This is by far her favorite dress, and she cannot wait to finally wear it to a dance. 

For this prom, she had decided to keep it simple, letting her dress shine more than the other pieces of her outfit. Her hair in loose curls, a few gems for a pop, her shoes simple and basic and her make up the same. The whole look was supposed to be a unlike anything she’d wear on a stage--it was supposed to be a better representation of who she was. And sure, if her dress looks like Cinderella, that was absolutely on accident...right?
