ಅಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೂ ಈ ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಅಂತ ಹೆಸರು ಬಂದಿದ್ದು ಹೇಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತ, ಪುಟ್ಟಿ? ಮಂಡವ್ಯ ಎಂಬ ಋಷಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂತು ತಪ್ಪಸ್ಸು ಮಾಡಿದನಂತೆ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ, ಋಷಿಯ ಹೆಸರಿನ ಮೂಲದಿಂದ 'ಮಂಡ್ಯ' ಆಯಿತು ಅನ್ನೋ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಗಳು ಇವೆ. ಋಷಿಯ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ಹೆಸರು ಪಡೆದ ಊರಿನ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲಾ ಋಷಿಗಳು ಆಗೋದಿಲ್ಲ. ರಾಕ್ಷಸನಿಂದ ಹೆಸರು ಪಡೆದ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲಾ ರಾಕ್ಷಸರು ಆಗೋದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಆ ಹೆಸರು ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಜನ, ಬದುಕು ನಡವಳಿಕೆ, ಆದಾಯ ವ್ಯಯ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ, ಆಚರಣೆಗಳಿಂದಾಗಿ ಒಂದು ಭಾವಕೋಷವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಈಗ ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಅನ್ನುವುದು ಸ್ವಾಭಿಮಾನದ, ನಿರಾಡಂಬರ ಒರಟು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ, ತೋರಿಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಬದುಕಿನ ಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿದೆ. ಮಂಡ್ಯದ ಜನಕ್ಕೆ ನಯ ನಜೂಕು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಅನ್ನುವುದು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಜನರ ನಡವಳಿಕೆ ಮೇಲ್ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಜಂಭ, ದವಲತ್ತು ಸಂಗತಿಗಳು ಇದ್ದರು. ಅದನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಭಿಮಾನ ಅಂತ ಕರೆಯುವುದೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸೂಕ್ತ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ, ನಾನು ಬದುಕನ್ನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸುವಂತೆ, ಮೈಮುರಿದು ಬದುಕುವ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಸ್ವಾಭಿಮಾನ ಬಂದೀತೆ ಹೊರೆತು ಜಂಬ ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಜಂಭ, ದವಲತ್ತು. ಅಹಂಕಾರ ಇವೆಲ್ಲಾ ಏನಿದ್ದರೂ ಅಧಿಕಾಸ್ಥರಿಗೆ, ಸುಲಭದ ಸಂಪಾದನೆಯವರಿಗೆ. ನಿಮ್ಮಂತ ಸ್ವಾಭಿಮಾನಿಗಳಿಗಲ್ಲ.

'ಮಂಡ್ಯ' ಅಂತ ಕೇಳಿದ ತಕ್ಷಣ ನೆನಪಿಗುವುದು ಈ ಸಲದ Election. ಸುಮಲತಾ ಕುಮಾರಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಜೊತೆಗೂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಹೋದ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಅಭ್ಯರ್ಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ದಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಕ್ಕಲಿಗ ನಾಯಕತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರತಿ ನಾಯಕರನ್ನು ಅದೇ ಒಕ್ಕಲಿಗ ಜಾತಿಯಿಂದ ಸಜ್ಜುಗೋಳಿಸಿರಬಹುದು. ಬಹುಸಂಖ್ಯ ಕೋಮುವನ್ನು ಸಂತುಷ್ಟಿ ಗೋಳಸಿರಲು ಬಹುದು. ಏನೋ! ಈ ರಾಜಕೀಯವೇ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗೋಲ್ಲ! ಆದರೂ ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಸದಾ ಕಾಡುವ ಹೆಸರು- ಅವಳೇ- ಅದೇ ಆ ತಾಟಕಿ ರಮ್ಯಾ ದಿವ್ಯ ಸ್ಪಂದನಾದ್ದು. ಆಹಾ! ಎಂಥ ರಮ್ಯಾ ಚೈತ್ರ ಕಾಲವಾಗಿತ್ತು ಅವಳು ಇದ್ದಾಗ. ನಿಂಗೆ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ಕಿಚ್ಚು ಆಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ, ಅಲ್ವಾ ? ಹೆದರಬೇಡ ನಾನು two timing ಮಾಡಿ ಅವಳನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೌತಿ ಆಗಿ ಮಾಡುವವನಲ್ಲ. ಅಥವಾ ನನ್ನ ಅವಳ ಪ್ರೇಮ ಯಾನಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನ್ನ third wheel ಮಾಡೋದು ಇಷ್ಟವಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ಹೃದಯ ನೀನಾದರೆ, ಹೃದಯದ ಬಡಿತ ಅವಳದು. ಹಾ! ನೀವು ಮಂಡ್ಯದವರೇ ಹೀಗೆ- ಸದ್ದಿಲದೇ ಬಂದು ಹೃದಯ ಅಪಹರಿಸುತ್ತಿರಾ! ಕಳ್ಳಿಯರು ಈ ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಮಾರಾಯಿತಿಯರು!
