“Based on true events” is NEVER a good sign when it comes to horror movies. Especially this one, that’s being compared to Saw and Hostel, which are basically torture porn films. It’s set in Mexico, where 3 guy friends meet some girls and eat some mushrooms and then one of them goes missing, and that one happens to be Shawn from Boy Meets World. Sean Astin plays an American serial killer who helps the Mexican kidnappers. It’s kind of a complicated plot after that. The 2 remaining friends team up with a Mexican cop who had his partner murdered by the Mexican kidnappers, and those kidnappers follow some voodoo and that’s why they kidnap and kill people. The story was a good one. It’s not really a horror movie. More of a drama, I guess.

Rating: C. The story is compelling, but I highly recommend googling the real story, because that is INSANE.
