Make sure your funnel is designed for conversion so they won’t slip through.Challenge Assumptions and “Best” PracticesAt the time I joined Pavlok, “best” practice looked like a typical Hubspot/Bootstrap style landing page. Lots of deep content and sexy design elements.Michael joined the team and made some changes.He streamlined and simplified everything. Our website became one long sales letter that ended in an email opt-in.Most of our traffic was coming from press on our extremely viral worthy product. These prospects weren’t ready to buy. But they were ready to trade email for price.It took a lot of courage for Michael to build out and test a whole new paradigm of hardware sales. Most growth hackers would have stuck to a safe and sexy approach. They never would have discovered a more effective practice that drove tremendous sales results.Michael had to focus, simplify, streamline and understand that visitors wouldn’t be ready to buy. They would be ready to trade email for price.In short: Simple > Complex Best Practices = Average Results Converting the visitor means understanding the visitor.ConclusionI've been learning a lot from these interviews.
