Sometimes I look back on my old modern AU and wonder how the characters would look in my style now... 3-2 years later...
Maybe if I feel silly enough I'll pick some panels and sketches to redraw 🤷♀️

Robert Morris cleared his throat, interrupting the intimate moment between his daughter and her now fiancé.
The newly bethroved looked at the middle aged man and the rest of Mary's family. Mrs. Morris next to him smiling brightly with glassy eyes.
"Right...", James let Mary down to the ground again and held her hands, "You should go. The plane won't wait forever for you.".
"I don't want to leave you now.", Mary spoke softly.
"Your father paid hundres of dollars for your ticket. Don't let him down now. Especially now after he just watched you say yes to my proposal.", he gently caressed his thumbs over her knuckles, his left thumb briefly driving over the cold silver of Mary's new ring.
They chuckled when their eyes met again. Mary slowly slid her palms out of James' hands and took little steps backwards.
"Have a nice flight. Call me when you're there."
"I will. And you drive safely."
"Always.", he smiled at her fondly, "I love you."
"I love you too."
Mary kept gazing at him before turning and walking up to her family at the security check. Mrs. Morris hugging her daughter full of joy and little Fanny Morris promptly asking for her sister to pick her up.
James couldn't make out what Mrs. Morris said but by the fond and joyful expression he assumed she was congratulating her daughter. Before Mary walked through the check, she turned to her new fiance one more time. He waved goodbye. She waved back. And then her attention was on the security staff.

James seated himself into his car and exhaled with a smile. Yes. She said yes. She really said yes. They were engaged.
He could barely believe it. He couldn't drive home now and be all alone.
"James?!"
"Long time no see, huh? Hi AJ."
"What are you doing here?", AJ blinked plerplexed.
"Could I stay over night?"
"I thought you had your own apartement..."
"I do, yeah, but uh I need some company.", James looked expectingly at his brother.
AJ opened the boor further and bid James in. Although completely out of the blue, AJ didn't have an objection in James staying. Perhaps a little time with his little brother wasn't too bad. He quickly noticed that James was grinning over both ears.
"You look extraordinarily happy. Suspiciously extraordinarily happy. What's the reason for it?", AJ crossed his arms.
James seated himself on the couch and - no matter how hard he tried - couldn't break his smile.
"Jamie?", AJ smirked, almost sensing the news. He took the two mugs with tea and handed one to James. "Come on, I'm listening.".
"Mary and I...", James began and paused.
"Mhmm?"
"...we're getting married."
AJ almost choked on the tea and stared at his brother with huge eyes.
"No...", he said in disbelief, "No, you didn't."
"Oh, I absolutely did."
"Jamie!", AJ laughed and boxed James' arm, "Congratultations, little bro! That kind of news requires something stronger than tea."
AJ stood up and walked over to the little liquor cabinet, taking out a bottle of whiskey.
"I don't have a lot but for the two of us it should be enough.", he sat down on the couch again and opened the bottle.
"This is a bad idea. Hamilton and alcohol are two things that don't go well together."
"Pffft", AJ poured the whiskey into the two glasses, "We have an engagement to celebrate, don't start this now."
