for: @xanwritesx who: maeve + aisling au: the court of requiem
if she didn’t know any better, things were a miss among the court these days.
perhaps it’s old age and a wealth of intuition she no longer need to practice. or maybe it’s the way benedikt had greeted her within the summoner’s room with shoulders tense and a new found shame to his eyes, a look aisling hadn’t seen in her favourite dvorak in a very, very long time. “you needn’t greet me like this every time i visit, my dear,” the red head giggles, watching as he takes her hand with a bow. benedikt presses a small kiss to her palm, shaking his head subtly in disagreement.
“for all the kindness you’ve ever shown me, my lady, you deserve far more.”
tis a wonder then, why he can barely look at her as he carries her bag to her old room. elena, bless her heart, had left it exactly the same with strict orders to the rest of those that reside within the castle to leave it be. a blessing of a sorts for fighting for her family so long ago, aisling can only assume. there’d been no regrets when she’d given her seat to maeve upon the formation of the new court, and elena had never made her feel terrible for her decisions either. “i’ve lived long enough in the dark,” she’d told the queen, bent on one knee at her feet.
“so have we all,” elena had whispered through a smile.
but it isn’t as though aisling had ever been gone for too long a period of time. the lovell family were the first family to join the court and, maeve’s seat carried a weight far heavier than she’d ever understand. aisling had been there since the beginning, witnessed the rise and fall of many and the reckoning had changed nothing of the level of responsibility the lovell family now had under elena’s new rule.
so it makes sense that when aisling finally finds her niece, responsibility is no where to be found.
it has never been lost on her the way maeve watched after benedikt. perhaps it’s her own influence, or a need to fix what maeve’s mother — aisling’s own sister — had broken. mona had used and abused benedikt for centuries before his eventual banishment, and to this day, aisling couldn’t understand why he still sought to serve their family. she watches as even now, he shows patience for maeve’s pestering, a smile on her face while she swings her legs on the court room table as benedikt fixes a hole in the wall aisling wasn’t entirely sure she wanted to know about. benedikt huffs and walks away from the woman with a tint of pink to his cheeks, passing aisling with a small bow of his head before disappearing down the hallway, and the old fae laughs.
“still tormenting all the young men, my darling?” aisling asks with a grin, entering the court room with a small and playful bounce to her step. “why, i don’t think i’ve ever seen him blush as much as he does with you!”

songs i’ve replayed until i’m sick of them x
description under the cut
Gif description, 9 gifs. For women in neon outfits with a shirt, short skirt, heels and a jacket with shapes on them. They have big triangular earrings. Each woman is color coded, one pink, one blue, one yellow and one orange. They all dance in synch. They’re on a brightly lit, white set with four white armchairs and hairdresser dryer domes. The chairs are on a slightly elevated stage with a very reflective floor one step down. The room is lit with bright neon.
The women in pink and blue have bows on their heads. The woman in yellow has natural hair with some pink strands The woman  in orange has her hair in a updo.
There is one gif in the middle of the gifset with the women in normal clothes, on a beige couch, in a cuddle pile, laughing. There are empty alcohol glasses on the table in front of them. End description.

Indy resident honors mom’s love of quilting through The Longest Day
Indianapolis resident Dr. Tony Jean Dickerson is raising funds and awareness through The Longest Day in honor of her mother. Below, in her own words, is her touching story.
If you would like to participate in The Longest Day, register at alz.org/TheLongestDay or contact Jennifer Lovell Buddenbaum at [email protected] or 317.587.2208, ext. 1530.
My mother, Linda Edwards Lee, succumbed to Alzheimer’s on March 1, 2019. She was diagnosed with dementia and simultaneously began dialysis in November of 2010. For most of that time I was her primary caregiver and we lived in Kansas City, MO. There were people who stayed in the home with her during the day, sat at dialysis with her, and just came by the house to provide support. As the disease progressed, I decided to move her back to Indianapolis, IN and closer to my nuclear family in 2017.
Tumblr media
When I helped establish a sewing guild the following year, our members honored her through activities that involved her love of quilting. As a cornerstone of our guild, we choose an organization to give back to as part of our social justice and service focus. For 2020, we created a “Forget Me Not” quilt that was designed by Jenny Doan of the Missouri Star Quilt Company in honor of her late mother-in-law who succumbed to Alzheimer’s. The purple flower template was inspired by the Promise Garden flowers featured in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, which my mother’s grandchildren have participated in several times.
Tumblr media
The quilt was created at our Annual Retreat in June 2020, and once completed we partnered with Crimson Tate Quilt Shop to advertise an online raffle benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association. Through a posting on Instagram, I was approached by Jennifer Lovell Buddenbaum, manager of The Longest Day for the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter, about fundraising through that program. This partnership will garner more exposure for the raffle, thus bringing in more funds for the organization that has taken up the mantle to help eradicate this debilitating disease. I recommend those that can to partner with the Greater Indiana Chapter to participate in “The Longest Day.” The creative parameters in which you can participate are only as limited as your group’s imagination. The personalized activities serve to further honor the life’s work and impact of the people that we love. If you need guidance, Buddenbaum will offer suggestions to help you get started and maximize your fundraising.
Tumblr media
Over the years, I shared my journey with my Momma and the impact that dementia and Alzheimer’s had on our lives. Below are several Facebook postings that I shared with family and friends about our journey. One of the last posts was a little less than a year before she died. I cried writing them. I cried again today re-reading them. I miss my Momma. All of her. The part of her that celebrated me in that irrational way that mommas do about their children. I miss her creativity and her sassiness and her decisiveness. I miss her hugs and her kisses and her dancing. But in all that is lost, what is left is my opportunity to honor her; to lift up her example of struggle and triumph so that others can find the same in their situations. In that way she’s still right here. Until we meet again.

Love Letter to my Momma: Each day I try to give my Momma a thousand kisses. Each day I try to sing, "I'll Always Love My Momma" to her. I have worked through years of anger, frustration, pain and hurt about her dementia. I am now at acceptance. My Momma is NOT her dementia. Each day I look for her smile and her "NOWness." I enjoy who she is NOW. I enjoy fighting with Vickie Powell over her affection for us. I enjoy telling her to stop giving all of my kisses to Alnita Lee. I enjoy seeing Kingston knock her over because he wants to be near her. Or Butter and Biskit at her feet waiting for her to drop them some food. I enjoy laughing at how Vanita Powell can't get her to do anything! LOL I enjoy her "Everydayness." I don't take for granted that so many in my circle of family and friends don't have their Momma. I will not live one day of regret later because I didn't spend the time with her now. She is my heartbeat. I love everything about her. Unconditionally. And I know she loves me back. She tells me a thousand times a day. Happy Mother's Day, Momma!
December 3, 2016
This is going to be long. But it's for me anyway....
So my mother has dementia. This means that she is not the same person she was before. She is different. Quite a bit different. We are both different because of it. I think her dementia scares a lot of people. I think it scares a lot of people who love her. She doesn't remember everything and everybody. Hell she doesn't remember my name on a daily basis. She calls me "Momma." Sometimes she calls me "brother." Yesterday she kept calling me "Lee." But most days she says in the most "matter of fact way" I have ever heard, "I love you, Tony." She says it so matter of fact that it quickens my spirit. It's so true. It's so real. When she says it, all of the fear--most of the fear-- that she won't remember me one day goes away. I rest in that truth.
Her grandson William Duncan talks to her 2-3 times a week. She says about the same thing. "When will I see you again?" She doesn't always remember exactly what his name is. Sometimes she calls him "Jim-bo!" I don't know who that is. And Man just laughs. Other times she tells him, "I know who you are." And she knows exactly who he is. And they laugh together, and she asks, "When are you coming to see me again?"
Dementia doesn't follow a "way it is" kinda plan. As soon as she's written off as "Oh! poor thing she has dementia" she astounds us all. The other week my sista-friend Donna and I were reminiscing about family and life. Momma says something like, "Yeah, but we've had really good lives." Donna and I look at each other and celebrate the moment.
When my brother James and my sister-in-law were getting on the road we asked Momma to pray. She was known for her really loooong drawn-out prayers! She didn't pray immediately. We held our breath. Maybe she didn't exactly understand how to do it anymore. As soon as I decided that I would lead the prayer, she began, "Dear Heavenly Father I thank you for my family...." We shouted! Momma was still "there."
Many don't call her. I have come to believe that it is out of fear. Vickie Powell calls literally everyday. They talk an average of 1.5 minutes. I'm sure that she's afraid, too. But she calls.
Hell, I'm afraid. I see her slipping away. As a matter of fact, "she" has already left the building. If anyone is looking for "that" Linda Lee that used to reside at 3602 Emerson in Indianapolis, IN, she has left the building. But...
The Linda Lee that is kind and loving and funny and witty...yes, even witty (in a really racy sort of way) is still here. She's here. And you're missing out on HER. I am happy that the dementia is kinda acting as a cushion for her. She doesn't lament over who isn't calling her and checking in with her. She doesn't know. I know. And I feel bad that you're missing out.
This thing called dementia has changed my life. In a weird, twisted, odd way I am a better person for it. I once described having to care for her as a "good hard." It is what it is and so much more. Momma has dementia, but she's so much more than just an old woman with dementia. So very much more.
September 24, 2016
So now my Momma is calling me "Momma" almost 100% of the time. Of course my rational mind knows that her dementia is the genesis of this. But my emotional mind is fighting and I keep demanding that she call me Tony. I am fearful that the day she can no longer do that will be the day that I "lose my momma." #grieving
April 13, 2014
Most of you who know and love me know that my Momma has dementia. I have learned so much from this experience. I was at first angry and lost because she is not the mother who raised me. However, I am not exactly the daughter she raised either. I have learned to accept the Tony that has grown to be me based on all of my education, travels, encounters, and experiences. So I have learned to love my "new" Momma. She has taught me patience and "nowness." When she asks me where she's going to sleep tonight, I no longer flinch; I answer her question. When she says "good morning" to me 100 times a day, I say "good morning" back. We go to the movies. She doesn't remember what she has seen five minutes after we leave the theater. Hell, half the time neither do I! She is an expert cook who hasn't boiled an egg in two years. I thank her for cooking me a complete meal: meat, veggies, bread, AND dessert--every day of my life I lived with her before going off to college and years beyond that. I've changed my perspective of things. Just a paradigm shift that continues to give me "peace beyond my understanding." So today's word is "perspective." Some say the cup is half full....my cup runneth over.

In my last post, I wrote about courage. This week, I’d like to take that up a notch by telling you about my hero, Jim Lovell. In this post, we’ll learn about his incredible courage. Next week, we’ll learn about his his ability to overcome failure. And the week after that, we’ll talk about his grace under pressure.
Jim Lovell is best known for being the Commander of the “successful failure” that was Apollo 13 (and for subsequently becoming a member of the “Tom Hanks played me in a movie” club). Apollo 13 was indeed an astounding feat, but ultimately, it wasn’t nearly as important as one of Jim’s earlier missions, Apollo 8. And that’s because up until that time, though nearly two dozen people had been to space, no human had ever left earth’s orbit.
That changed with Apollo 8.
The mission sounded simple enough. Along with fellow crew members Frank Borman and William Anders, Jim’s mission wasn’t to land on the moon, it was only to see if they could get there, circle it 10 times and then come home.
Oh, and also to take one of the most significant photos ever taken — “Earthrise”.
But think about that for a second. When they left, they had no idea if they’d ever set foot on earth again. They didn’t know if the computer guidance system would work as designed, they didn’t know what would happen when they went around the backside of the moon, and they didn’t know if the math was right and that there would be enough fuel for the return journey.
And yet, they went.
It was an astounding act of courage. Perhaps, the greatest single act of courage in human history.
Just how did they do it?
First, the massive Saturn V rocket blasted them into orbit. There, they spent about two and a half hours testing various components of the ship before reigniting their rocket engine for “translunar injection” (yes, that phrase makes me laugh too — we’re tragically immature people, you and I).
And off they went into the unknown and, the history books. There was no hesitation. They just did it.
Now think of your own life.
Most of us manage to get ourselves into orbit. We leave home, train for our chosen career, find love and friendship, maybe have a family and buy a house. At first, there’s a rush of exhilaration. We’ve done it! We’re making it on our own. God only knows what excitement and adventures will come next!
But then, we get comfortable. We learn the patterns of our orbit. We look out the window and nothing surprises us. We know what to expect. And over time, the notion of leaving orbit becomes frightening. The longer we stay put, the more we begin to doubt we can do it. And so, rather than a brief layover on the way to the great, exciting unknown, our orbit becomes our home. We’re just far enough away from earth that we don’t feel like a complete failure, but we never learn what we’re truly capable of. And we never see what lies beyond our immediate understanding.
And that’s a terrible shame.
Ask yourself:
Are you sitting on a great idea?
Do you turn down opportunities that you know you should be taking advantage of?
Are you miserable at work, but afraid to even begin the process of looking for something new?
Are you using alcohol, drugs, shopping, sex, sugar, porn, gambling or something else as an escape from reality?
Do you avoid people, places and situations that might make you uncomfortable?
Do you use perfectionism as a tool to avoid starting/finishing initiatives?
Do you allow toxic people to undermine you and hinder your personal growth?
Do you subscribe to an endless list of “safe problems” — the small nagging kind that never seem to get solved?
We’ve each been given an extraordinary gift; this conscious, self-aware life. You are here to use your particular mix of traits and talents to benefit the world around you.
You weren’t meant to stay in orbit. Here’s how to break free of it.
4 Questions that will Help You Escape Earth’s Orbit
1: What does escape from Earth’s orbit look like (to you)?
It’s different for everybody, your orbit might be my moon shot. But some of us are so used to being in orbit that we can’t even imagine what a life beyond it might look like.
When working with clients, I use the Rocking Chair Exercise to help them visualize their ideal life experience.
Here’s a narrated video to take you through the exercise.
Or, you can contemplate the questions below.
Close your eyes and take three deep breaths. Imagine yourself on your 95th birthday. You are happy and healthy. And, you’re looking back at your life, a life that was ideal for you.
Who are you as a person?
What do other people value about you?
What achievements are you most proud of?
What added meaning to your life?
What gives you a sense of fulfillment?
Who is in your life — what kind of people are they?
What kind of career did you have?
How did you ensure you were healthy?
What did you do for fun?
How did you serve your community?
2: What keeps you from escaping Earth’s orbit? What is the source of that gravity?
What negative patterns of belief and behavior are you clinging too? How are you numbing yourself to the reality of what’s happening in your life?
Examples of negative beliefs:
I don’t have what it takes.
If I’m successful, I’ll end up alone.
I’m unworthy of achieving my dreams because at my core, I’m not a good person.
Examples of negative patterns:
Victim mindset
Self-shaming
Toxic relationships
Outlandish, La La Land expectations
Examples of numbing behaviors/addictions:
Food
Drugs/alcohol
Endless Nagging Little Problems
Video games
Porn
Gambling
3: What will be the rocket fuel that blasts you out of orbit?
How will you take better care of yourself?
How will you cultivate persistence in your life?
What boundaries will you set to protect yourself?
How will you assure consistent action?
What else will be your rocket fuel?
4: What’s your plan for when things go wrong?
This is a big one.
The thing most people don’t know about Jim Lovell, is that during the Apollo 8 mission he made a mistake. A big one. The kind that nearly killed him and his fellow crew members.
We’ll talk about that next week.
Hey there! If you’d like to learn more about getting and staying unstuck, sign-up for my weekly newsletter (green box at top right of your screen on desktop, or under this post on mobile) so you’ll never miss a post. I promise I’m not a spammy nightmare. One per week, and that’s it.

Tips for Selecting the Perfect Social Media Handle
Now that you’ve seen plenty of examples, here are some additional tips for choosing a great handle.
Use a free social media handle generator for ideas. There are plenty of free username generators online such as the one from Jimpix or BNG.
Keep your social media handle short and simple so that people can easily remember it.
Avoid using underscores if possible. Consumers are less likely to remember or type in social media handles with underscores.
Use a name that appeals to the target audience. Your social media handle is something that you’ll be using for a long time so, it should also make business sense.
Make it unique. You can more easily brand something that’s unique.
Ensure your social media handle is consistent across platforms. You can use Namecheckr or a similar tool to check username availability across social networks.
Do you have any social media handle tips or ideas of your own? Don’t be shy, let us know in the comments. For more details: Video marketing company Toronto

18+ Unique Things to Do in Toronto
Tumblr media
You’ve smashed the standard Toronto itinerary. You’ve climbed the CN Tower for the views, shopped ‘til you drop at the Eaton Centre and snapped a selfie with the 3D Toronto sign at Nathan Phillips Square. So what next? This guide will share the best unique things to in Toronto including food, places to see and tours to take.
I (Gemma) went on a girls’ trip to Toronto, to spend time with my friend who flew over from Scotland, leaving my partner (the other Scot, Craig) back in BC. Never one to settle for the TripAdvisor top ten, I sourced tips on the cool places to go in Toronto using my good Canadian friend, Maddie, for her local tips. So let’s get started. Expedia asked me to create a guide on Toronto, all opinions are my own as usual.
18 Unusual but Cool Things to do in Toronto
1. Kensington Market
Kensington Market is where the interesting kids (and their dogs) hang out. The area is awash with quaint print shops, vintage stores, art, tattooists and every type of world cuisine you could imagine.
Want burritos and churros from Mexico – no hay problema! Arepas from Colombia – chevre! Frites from Belgium – Oui! Patties from Jamaica – Irie!
You’ll need some organic beer or hot cider to wash that down.
A couple of streets over from Kensington Market you’ll find Chinatown. Naturally, you can get cheap dim sum but we actually had the nicest pizza slice (C’mon it’s North America) on Spadina and College (Europeans – this means the crossroads where the two streets meet!)
We made Kensington Market our base and didn’t regret it. You can check out accommodation options for Kensington Market and other areas in the city at Expedia who offer great hotel options in Toronto for everyone.
2. Bata Shoe Museum
These boots were made for walking so get them stomping down to the pretty extraordinary Bata Shoe Museum (BSM) in Toronto where over 4,500 years of history is told through feet!
That’s a lot of souls shared through soles under the roof of this award-winning building. If you are looking at what to do in Toronto on a rainy day, the BSM is worth a stroll.
Expect to see everything from Chinese bound-foot shoes to celebrity shoes.
There are often special exhibitions at the BSM such as Manolo Blahnik’s The Art Of Shoes (made famous by those Sex And The City chicks).
Address: 327 Bloor St W.
Price: $14 CAD per adult.
3. Annex
The Annex area of Toronto (Bloor and Bathurst) is home to many of the University of Toronto students so you can expect coffee shops, discount stores, bars and cafes.
Annex is also where you can rock out at Lee’s Palace, visit Canada’s largest museum, Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) and catch a film at Hot Doc’s Cinema.
4. Philosopher’s Walk
South from Bloor (Annex) you’ll find Philosopher’s Walk which is a lovely green space in the city if you want to walk off a coffee high, poutine or a hangover!
5. Madison Avenue Pub
What does one do with three Victorian mansions? You open a number of bars and connect them all of course! The Maddy has booths, games, outdoor seating and serves food.
Address: 14 Madison Ave.
6. Live Organic Food Bar
Reward your hungover body with plant-based, sugar-free food which is served up daily at the Live Organic Food Bar. The menu which includes kimchi pancakes and pulled burdock burrito is organic, gluten and wheat free too.
Address: 264 Dupont St.
7. Toronto’s Half House
Rarely do you hear of a city v resident demolishment story fall on the side of the homeowner but in this case, we have a winner! The Valkos family of 54 ½ St. Patrick Street. won the battle to remain in the 1970s so the developers sliced it in half like a birthday cake.
Toronto’s famous Cube House looks to have lost its plot to a scrapyard so check out the Half House before the other half disappears too.
Address: 54 ½ St. Patrick St (thanks for the picture Andrew Stapley!)
8. Graffiti Alley
Obviously cool equates to graffiti in any city! Toronto’s Queen Street West has its own colorful corridor of street art. Unfortunately, the word is out at the two blocks of graffiti get rammed with visitors so go early for those Instagram worthy shots!
Address: Rush Lane.
9. Trinity Bellwoods Park
Grab a few beers from Bellwoods Brewery and head to Trinity Bellwoods Park for a serious people-watching sesh!
Address: 790 Queen St W.
10. Hipster Queen + King
Move over Kensington, there’s a hipper kid in town. Queen West was crowned one of the world’s hippest neighborhoods by Vogue but with notoriety comes price increase.
From Bathurst and Gladstone, over a hundred stores are occupied by studios, shops, galleries and bars. It’s a great place for brunching too.
11. CN Tower Edgewalk
Sure, everyone that visits Toronto heads to the Entertainment District and takes the elevator to the viewing floor of the CN Tower but how many tourists walk the walk?
Leave the comfort of the secured windows and hang handsfree from the circumference of the roof with The Edge urban adventure experience (356m/1,168ft above the ground).
This is probably the most expensive activity going in Toronto but if you are a thrill seeker you might just want to take the plunge (well, hang not plunge).
Address: 301 Front St W.
12. Toronto Island
Unlike Vancouver Island’s proximity to Vancouver, Toronto Island is actually close to Toronto!
The island can be reached by boat and takes about 15 minutes to cross Lake Ontario.
There are three stops – Ward’s Island, Centre Island and Hanlan’s Point. We exited at Ward Island and slowly made our way to Centre Island; I biked, and Helen strolled.
So what’s on offer?
Toronto Island is like a beautiful big park. Ward Island is unique because it’s a small town with a small number of beautiful houses. These are very sought after.
Rather than paying top dollar to secure a property, hopeful buyers instead have to add their name to a capped list of 500 in the hope of moving their way up to the 100 mark. When a property is available the top 100 will be offered it at a fixed price.
The ethos is to ‘keep it simple.’ With these views of Toronto’s skyline (below), you can see the attraction.
The Island Cafe is a popular family-owned lunch spot. The resident and cafe owners aim to use fresh produce from local farmers and also sell home baking.
Centre Island has a pier, small farm, lighthouse, fairground, maze and a clothing-optional beach.
No one needs to see these fading white bits so I left the towel back on the mainland!
13. St Lawrence Market Events/Tours
With over 200 years of action, I know what you are thinking – how is St Lawrence Market a unique thing to do in Toronto?
Although one of the popular Toronto attractions, this food and antiques market is special and it is the merchants that make it that way. With over 120 stores selling everything from shrimp to shortbread, you can easily swallow up an hour or two at the market.
Craig would be happy to see ‘proper bacon’ rolls being served too.
If you are in town for a few days, check out the special events, talks and maybe even a food tour in Toronto?
Address: 93 Front St E.
Just four minutes from St Lawrence Market you will find the stunning and extremely photogenic French Gothic, Gooderham (Flatiron) Building. Well worth a snap if you are a keen photographer.
14. The Distillery District
The red-bricked Victorian-era buildings of the Distillery District now play home to 40 boutique shops including clothes, craft beer and candles.
There is also a variety of restaurants and cafes from ice cream shops to oyster bars. A food market runs every Sunday during summer too. During winter, the Christmas Market sets up here.
15. Red Heart / Parliament and Gristmill Lane
This red sculpture was created for the Toronto Christmas Market mistletoe to hang come December but stands all year round for lovers to walk through and have a smooch underneath!
16. Lovel Lock Sign
Forget Paris, Toronto has a designated sign which spells out ‘love’ for its locks and it makes a great picture for Instagram! We saw two engagement shoots in the area.
Take a picture and show me it, lovers! Send me your shots [email protected]
Toronto Light Festival
If you happen to visit Toronto in January through to March, don’t miss the annual Light Festival which takes place to force residents outside during the -20 harsh winters. Expect installations, lights and even fire.
Address: Distillery District.
17. Ghost Walks in Toronto
90 minutes of gore, graveyards and ghosts sound appealing? You can take a Toronto haunted walk tour and stroll through the Financial District to the Old Town hearing stories of scary tales.
18. Nuit Blanche
During the first Saturday night in October, art opens up normally sleepy spots around the city to encourage locals and visitors to go outside and engage with the exhibitions.
Museums stay open late and public art runs throughout the whole night. Expect lots of crowds, I was really impressed with how many citizens were taking advantage of the well prepared annual event.
Nuit Blanche exhibitions include print, projections, light, film, DJs, political and social justice commentary. Some take place outside, others inside. I really liked the large elephants which came in lots of shades!
Toronto Essential Information
Shopping in Toronto
For brand names, the Eaton Centre is not to be missed but remember Toronto whacks a 13% HST (harmonised sales tax) on top of prices so shop with caution!
If vintage is your bag (like me), check out the shops in Kensington Market as well as those scattered along Queens Street and in Annex neighborhood.
You might want to check out our cheap accommodation guide cheap accommodation guide to Toronto too.
History
Toronto has lots of history, look out for the blue plaques on the side of buildings to find out what they used to be. We spotted the jail, the old post house and Gooderham Building (that thin one from Pinterest!)
Niagara Falls
No trip to Ontario would be complete without the ninety-minute journey to Niagara. We hopped aboard a group tour which stopped off at one of Niagara’s vineyards so we could taste the delicious ice wine from the Niagara region before getting wet at Niagara Falls.
Transport in Toronto
Toronto is a grid system and is really easy to navigate.
Full of beans, we pounded the streets for the first few days (walking from Kensington Market to the Old Town will take about an hour) but by midweek our feet were pleading with us so we used the streetcar and subway system.
You can purchase day tickets, which let you use any mode of transport to get around the city.
How to Get to Toronto From Pearson Airport
From Pearson Airport, the quickest but more expensive way to travel is by the Union Pearson Express (UPE). This train takes 25 minutes and costs just under $13 CAD one way to Downtown.
The more economical option takes longer, naturally. For $3 CAD, a 75-minute journey using the public transport system will get you to and from the airport. Take the Airport Rocket (bus 192) to Kipling (approx. 45 minutes) then the green line subway into the city, your stop will depend on where your accommodation is. You may then need a streetcar or the yellow subway line.
A taxi will cost approximately $60.
We did option two and I was a little hurried at the airport so leave ample time.
Toronto Packing List (Spring/Summer/Fall)
Nice dresses that can be layered with tops.
1 x jeans.
Sunglasses.
Skip the umbrella, invest in a sturdy but stylish waterproof like my Mountain Equipment Rupal.
1 x comfortable, good looking but waterproof boots (I recommend Salomon hiking boots).
1 x eco bottle such as TreeTribe – keeps hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold.
Electrolytes for the damn hangovers.
Battery pack like our Anker packs for phone recharge on the go.
Camera, charger and SD card.
Toronto Packing List (Winter)
Merino wool base layers Icebreaker’s range.
Trousers.
Hats, gloves, scarf.
Sunglasses.
1 x Mountain Equipment Rupal.
1 x padded down jacket, I like North Face
1 x Salomon hiking boots.
Hand warmers if waiting around.
1 x  TreeTribe – keeps hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold.
Electrolytes.
Anker packs.
Camera, charger and SD card.
My Final Tip for Toronto
The only thing you need a map for is to look lost.
As soon as you take it out, a local will approach you to ask if you need help! It’s a help magnet.
And don’t believe what other Canadians say about Canadian city folk not being friendly, if someone in Edinburgh (Scotland) saw you with a map, they’d cross over the street!

Dennis of Lovell & Julius of Minett
Blessed by his forefathers, Dennis was raised all his life to become a knight worthy of the Lovell name, an honor he loudly made known to anyone he came across. Julius had no expectations to serve in the Nohrian military himself. He was born to a pair of highly successful merchants in Nestra who suddenly received nobility status when his aunt Seraphina became consort to King Garon. Eager to make use of their new status, he was encouraged to join the academy for Nohrian knights in Westerstede. There, the two met, beginning as bitter rivals, and soon as relentlessly unstoppable partners.
The two were a force to be reckoned with in battle, one who had superiority in range, and the other in close combat. They are both best known for following Prince Marius into battle to drive Hoshidans away from the border towns in the first wave of the Hoshidan-Nohr Conflict, and were key players in Prince Xander’s bid to secure Hoshidan lands in the second wave.
Their shared glory was cut short, when Julius was forced to retire shortly after he sustained a grievous injury that prevented him from setting foot on the battlefield again. After coming to terms that he could no longer fight alongside his love, Julius returned home to Janholt with his head held high. His mother, who managed the family after his father’s death, decided that it was time for her to step down so her son would properly inherit the family leadership.
Dennis, meanwhile, continued to rise up in the ranks of the royal guard and carried out many military successes for his country and house. He now serves on the war council as a representative from House Lovell and is seen as the future of the Nohrian military who would go on to serve the up and coming crown prince. And yet, no other partnering bow knight could compare to Julius for Dennis. Despite this distance, their respect and love hasn’t faltered, and they paid each other visits regularly. It was only a matter of time when Julius presented Dennis with a ring, but of course, Julius wouldn’t make it easy and made it a puzzle for Dennis to solve.
Yeah, their bio portrait do look a little more sinister than they actually are, but they are supposed to be the evil power couple if you went a Birthright Route.
Julius was supposed to be a Cavalier like Dennis at first, but I made him a Bow Knight instead so he can resort to long range attack instead now, but that just made him more similar to Leon from FE15. My bad.
Julius isn’t so shabby with swords either, which was a regular thing he used for sparring with Dennis
Yes, I know, Dennis is kinda like Kieran from FE9. I wasn’t sure who I was thinking of when I made Jules.
For those who haven’t read that one part in “As Dark Comes the Night”, they would be together for one map, likely to support Leo who is defending Fallmount and Janholt in a Birthright route
And as named characters, they have death quotes, related to each other
Can you spare one while killing the other? Nope. You kill one, the other will refuse to negotiate or be defeated safely. You’d have to spare both of them which would be a challenge.
Their support conversation leads up to their engagement, but they’ll get married anyways further in the future so long as both of them are alive.
Silas is much closer to his cousin Dennis than his sister Claudia, but Dennis always wished the two siblings would get closer together
When Silas got kicked out of Arlcliff for doing a bad (like bringing his crush outside the castle walls for a picnic), Dennis taught Silas a lot of stuff he missed while he was grounded and sent back
Without Dennis, Silas wouldn’t have been able to get back on track to being a knight
Although Silas does get embarrassed when Dennis shouts out loud that he’s proud of his little cousin
Julius, Cornelia, and Camilla make the pillars of the future of the Minett family, so they get along swimmingly
Julius promised Camilla and Nelly that his doors are always open to them
When Camilla does decide to adopt a lot of kids with Selena, Julius makes a whole building just for the kids because he and Dennis are just as ready to be parents, too
Julius was never brought up with expectations to become a knight, so he had to work twice as hard as Dennis to be the same level
He had always believed he was going to take over the family business and jump start a large trading company
Probably, he’ll make it happen anyways
One discarded ending I came up with the story ended with Anri setting out on a voyage because he did so much shit he felt he could no longer stay in Nohr or Hoshido.
When they first met, Dennis thought Jules was too much of a coldhearted person, although Jules didn’t give any fucks, which infuriated Dennis further
Dennis was a bit of a dick when he was younger, too, so he used to think he was superior to Julius who was a newly made noble
Julius was better friends with Nichol, who also didn’t have a stellar of a background either (he was a stable boy who sassed and won his prince over), and Dennis with Prince Marius, so they were bound to meet up even more
Oh, yes, they have tried to physically fight with each other, but their respective friends did not let them lay a finger on each other until they got along
Otherwise, they had some pretty intense shouting matches, although Dennis has always been the louder one
Julius’s scar on his cheek came from one of their fights
Dennis, who proclaimed himself the best of the best, grew frustrated and anxious about his own ability every time Julius prevailed while he couldn’t
They both had the bad luck of constantly getting paired up, but that did help Dennis understand Julius more as a person, and he really came to love Julius and his quick thinking personality
Don’t forget that Theresa wanted to squash the Minett family as soon as it was made a noble family, so you bet your ass she had probably tried to get Julius killed a few times
That’s also a contributing factor he had to consider when making decisions
He’s lucky not to have suffered as badly as Camilla and Cornelia, but being shunned widely at the academy was probably not fun
Actually, he’s got Dennis to thank, who quickly realized that he was a dumbass for underestimating Julius
Their first kiss probably happened because Dennis dared him to. Julius would think dares are stupid until he has to stop Dennis from trying to announce to everyone how he’s bad at kissing
He really isn’t. Quite the contrary, actually.
Julius has personally participated in the Massacre of Durand, and he’s been trying all his life afterwards trying to make up for it, but that hasn’t stopped his shrewd ways
While that’s something that everyone in Minett want to do, he feels most personal about the issue since he is now the head of the family
So he’s more likely to think in terms of family first, everyone else later, and hides a resentment for the current royal establishment (the Albrands included) for the massacre
He’s rational enough to not unfairly transfer hate to people like Xander and the other royal kids (his cousin was with him, too), but he dislikes Augustine of Albrand’s obsession with tradition, and questions whether Odelia would serve his interests
He already wrote off the Gehrings as being useful for his family, so that’s why he tries to ask Anri to give him Fallmount
At some point when Xander decides to kick Garon off the throne, Julius easily swears loyalty to Xander because he thinks Garon is getting old and out of touch
He hopes that getting Garon out of power and putting a more open minded Xander, Camilla, or Leo will encourage other families to start placing young blood at the front of their families to responsibly lead the nation to a future
Julius is very particular about saving money, while Dennis is not as worried about money
FE15 Spoiler: As evil as their portrait scene (and their seeming penchant for dancing), at least Dennis wouldn’t kill Julius and serve him to an evil dragon god

A Website for Your  Business
First and foremost, we are business people who are dedicated to helping you achieve your goals. We believe that your website design should support who you are in your business and how you work with your clients or customers. Too many wordpress design firms are creating WordPress websites from templates that do not work well with the way businesses actually operate.
When we work with clients, we strive to determine what your primary business goal is for your site and then we work to create a site that will be easy to manage and operate.
We have worked with start-ups, entrepreneurs, non-profits, private companies and industry giants.
We bring our strategic business mindset to create websites for businesses that look as great as they work.
Website Design for Your Bottom Line
For us, the bottom line is your bottom line. Our wordpress design and each WordPress website we create is:
Customized to support how you work with your clients
Systems-based to minimize overall maintenance time

Custom Web Development
Very few websites require customized web development. We have seen virtually every need and solution in wordpress design. As a result, we are able to use our breadth and depth of knowledge to save you time and offer innovative solutions when you do need custom web development.
WordPress Design in for Your Size, Style, and Budget
Your wordpress design should be as unique as your company is. There’s no other business exactly like yours. Our goal is to create a website that reflects who you are so that your best clients can find you.
A long time ago, we discovered that we served clients best by beginning where they are. This means starting with the exact budget a customer has to spend and then later adding to the wordpress design in phases as more money comes available. It’s a source of pride for us to deliver the very best website and wordpress design for the amount a customer can afford. We will take your budget and put everything we can into your WordPress site.
We have worked with many business owners to identify and determine the very best wordpress design for them. Our consultants focus on you, and serving your website design needs – this is not about selling you something. So it doesn’t matter to us if you are just starting out and need a quick one-page site to get going or you have been in business for 50 years and want a wordpress design that will interface with multiple clients. We serve each and every client the same way. We want you to have exactly the wordpress design you want.
When you purchase wordpress design, we’ll ask all the questions that can help you determine exactly the website design or web development plan that is ideal for you.
Stuck with an Unfinished WordPress Design?
We estimate that nearly 62% of our business comes from business owners who purchased a WordPress website or wordpress design from another web development company that, for whatever reason, could not deliver a satisfactory finished product. We have heard so many stories and seen so many examples of why a website isn’t delivered. If you are in this situation and are worried about what’s next, rest assured, we will deliver your wordpress design – on budget and on time.
Protect Your WordPress Design Investment
Our wordpress design experts also have helped clients determine a strategy to:
Recoup their original investment
Utilize whatever wordpress design and development that is currently available
Transition smoothly and seamlessly from their previous wordpress design company
Minimize the spend on your new wordpress design
Our goal is to reduce the stress associated with a bad wordpress design experience and move your toward your goal – completing the project. We offer patient, kind service and help destress your wordpress design decision making.
Buying WordPress Design in – What to Look For
Buying a new WordPress website, a new wordpress design or web development is difficult. Most business owners present their project to a company, the company says they can do it, and the business owner plunks down a deposit and hopes for the best. Because business owners believe they don’t understand wordpress design, they tend to look at wordpress design as a difficult purchase decision and assume they need a company to tell them what they need.
In fact, this purchase is like every other purchase in your business.
You are looking for the best wordpress design agency or website development team you can get for the budget you can afford.
You are buying a relationship with a company you can trust.
It’s almost impossible to know ahead of time what kind of experience you will have with a company, so we suggest using this checklist when you are interviewing a local wordpress design agency. While this is not a hard and fast list, these are questions we suggest you ask. Unfortunately, the clients who did not ask these are the ones we often see on their second, third or even fourth attempt to develop their WordPress website or create a new wordpress design.
Questions to Ask Before Hiring a WordPress Design Company
How long have you been in business? What brought you to wordpress design? How long have you been designing websites?
What is your business focus/expertise? What makes you an expert?
Is wordpress design the focus of your business?
How many websites do you design and develop each year? (this helps you see how up-to-date they are on current technology)
What is your background? Do you have experience in my industry?
Have you developed sites in my industry? If so, may I see them?
Have you ever missed a wordpress design deadline? If so, why?
Have you ever lost a client? If so, why?

In the CW98 main event, welterweight champion Stefano Paternò puts his title on the line at against the undefeated Ross ‘The Hitman’ Houston. The Italian champion, now on a seven-fight win streak, captured the title with a first-round knockout of Mehrdad Janzemini at CW95 in London back in July. The co-main event sees Yannick Bahati, a local Birmingham name who has finished 7 of his past opponents by either KO or submission, come up against ‘The Brazilian Viking’ Alan Carlos. Pre-order: The Welsh Gambit [Book 2 in The Tudor Throne]
Tumblr media
I’M LOOKING FOR EARLY REVIEWERS. CLICK HERE FOR A FREE BOOK.
The Tudor Throne Series, Book 2: The Welsh Gambit
Back Cover:
Lady Anwen cannot forget, nor her brother forgive. Since she killed Lord Meuric’s son in self-defense on a lonely Welsh road, and spent several months imprisoned and mistreated in his castle, Anwen has fought her nightmares. Alone and unable to bear a man’s touch, she unites with a local ‘witch’ to learn how to heal. As Edward Stafford, the Duke of Buckingham, prepares for the autumn joust, he fears escalating tension between the locals and Lord Meuric’s brutal overseer, Beynon. His mood worsens when Sir Thomas Lovell, the king’s ruthless enforcer, arrives unannounced in search of a traitor. As thousands flock to the tourney, death, superstition, denial, and treason come to a brutal conflict, as a child searches the castle for the bones of a lost maiden and uncovers a terrible secret…
Author's Notes:
This was one of those novels that "found itself" amid a muddle of ideas. I must have rewritten it twenty times and each time, several characters and themes emerged with great strength -- the "witch" Winifred, Lady Anwen's struggle to overcome her traumatic past, and the marriage of Margaret and Richard Pole, which seems strong enough to outlast any storm. I had a wonderful time researching jousts and tourneys, thrusting the Staffords into the middle of events, and honoring Prince Arthur's memory with a rousing good story set in a time of deep national unrest and mourning for a lost prince.
I hope you enjoy reading it half as much as I labored in love to write it.
Excerpt:
Anne Tyrell stares out the window, lost in the beauty of the Welsh Marches. She spent her first year of marriage in its green foothills. The carriage winds through silver birch and blackthorn trees, each mile closer to her children. Anne dreads their reunion. She bears the shame of their father’s execution closer to them with each turn of the wheels.
A stallion pulls level with her view, its rider leading a dozen men. She peers at the tall, angular man astride its back. His hair grays at the temples, his narrow face severe. Once, she adored Sir Thomas Lovell. She awaited news from him with breathless excitement. Now, many years later, her stomach tightens whenever they meet. He came to Guînes under a pretext, persuaded her husband to return to London, and imprisoned him on board ship. He then sent men to disarm their son and threw them both in the Tower.
She wonders how they ever loved each other, yearning to forget their stolen kisses and amorous whispers. He escorts her into the Welsh Marches to attainder her estate in the king’s name. He and Lord Dudley will cram her valuables onto carts and keep them in the royal treasury until King Henry decides otherwise.
The castle appears in a maple grove, its gatehouse covered in roses and honeysuckle. Her children wait in the courtyard, James the tallest at eighteen, William three years younger, and Pet twelve. Anne twists the door handle before the coach halts to embrace her daughter, bewildered by her height. Pet shares her height. Anne sweeps the hair back from her face, gasping, “You have grown!”
“I gained two inches last summer. I may outgrow you, Mother.” Pet’s amber eyes flit to Lovell, her tone guarded. “I missed you.”
She approaches her sons, aware of their audience. The boys hug her, their expressions glum. Lovell scans the castle with scorn and removes his gloves. Dudley dismounts and shakes out his mantle. Anne steers Pet into the house. “We are together now.”
“I wish it were under different circumstances,” Pet whispers.
Anne catches her breath in the foyer, moved by its sameness. The servants have altered nothing in her absence. Familiar colorful tapestries line the walls, the small staff assembled to greet her. She scans their faces, noting the steward’s absence with concern. Anne looks at her son, tension in her words. “Where is Hywel?”
James glances at his brother. “He fled after our father’s arrest.”
Her heart plummets. Anne prayed on the journey none of their staff schemed with her husband, knowing it would arouse further scrutiny of their finances. She considers how to handle this and turns with forced politeness when Lovell and Dudley enter. “My lords, you will find our records upstairs. The maid can show you. I trust you do not need me.”
The girl guides them upstairs, Anne relieved in their absence. “Come,” she tells her family, “we must discuss our future.”
They follow her into the parlor where she shuts the door and joins Pet in a window seat. It overlooks the garden, the fountain dry and a rook’s nest in the crook of its statue. After a deep breath Anne asks, “Why did you not warn me of Hywel’s escape?”
James sinks onto a bench and runs his fingers through his curls. “I dared not write to you. I feared Lovell might read our letters.”
“Well, we can do nothing about it now,” his mother says.
William shifts a stack of books from a chair. “How is Tom? We have not heard from our brother. Is he in the Tower?”
“Yes. I have visited him twice. I believe him secure for now. Lovell could not incriminate him at your father’s trial.” Anne rubs her forehead. “I expect his release after the attainder.”
A bee buzzes the roses outside the window, its wings deafening in the sullen silence. Pet studies her palms, her voice small. “Nan Browne wrote us of the ordeal. Was it dreadful, Mother?”
Anne cannot speak around the lump in her throat. She saw her husband walk to the scaffold, mount the stairs, utter a speech, and lay his neck on the block. The ax severed it with a single stroke.
“How could it not be?” James asks. “They cut off his head.”
She cringes at his bluntness. “Do not dwell on it. Remember him as you saw him last. We had a fine Christmas together.”
Pet tries to smile but raises only one side of her mouth. Quiet fills the pause while Anne strokes her daughter’s hair. William fumbles with a piece of ribbon. “Must we go before the tourney?”
She nods.
Prince Arthur planned to lead the festivities, but now lies dead in a crypt. Reluctant to rob the public of their entertainment, the king appointed the Duke of Buckingham to hold it in his honor.
Her eyes tearful, Pet says, “James has trained for months!”
Pained by their distress but unable to ease it, Anne squeezes her hand. “Our lives have changed. We can no longer do as we please. We must defer to the king’s wishes to live in London.”
“How much is our income?” William stares at her with anxiety, his feet pulled under him. “Enough to support our tutor?”
She scoured the accounts when Lovell announced her living, but had to choose between a tutor and a servant. Their faces fall at her pause. Anne forces confidence into her words. “Our situation will be painful and difficult, but we can survive. We have each other.”
“But not Father,” William whispers.
Anne blinks away her tears. “Never doubt he loved you.”
“If he had, he would not have chosen Suffolk,” James snaps.
She expects the others to defend him but they study the floor instead. Shocked, Anne scans their forlorn expressions. “Your father pursued his ideals. Do not deplore him for his mistakes.”
“My contempt is for the fiend who imprisoned him,” James says.
She reaches out to pull him near, reminded of his father in his unspoken anger. “Never let Sir Thomas know how you feel.”
Voices draw her attention to the courtyard where a monk parts from a maid to enter the side door. Pet’s long sleeve brushes the sill when she leans forward, her tone soft. “That’s Brother Elfric.”
“What befell your other confessor?” Anne asks, distressed.
James kicks at the hearth. “Abbot Ifan recalled him to the abbey after his strength declined. Elfric has tended us these last months.”
“I adore him,” Pet says with radiant eyes.
Anne estimates him at twenty-years-old, struck by his handsome face and gentle air. She chews her lip, concerned by her daughter’s infatuation. “Send him in to me. I want to meet him. Then we can walk in the garden. Meet me outside in ten minutes.”
Once her children retreat, Anne crosses to the sideboard to pour a drink. The monk enters after a knock, his bow graceful. Anne corks the bottle and scans the amiable face and intent brown eyes. “Brother Elfric, my family speaks well of you.”
“I serve them as best I can under the circumstances, milady.”
Anne drinks the rich, flavorful pear wine from their orchard, her husband’s pride and joy. “I’m grateful you could comfort them in my absence. I know not how to heal their broken hearts.”
“Lavish love upon them. Trust God to manage their sorrow.”
She sinks onto the cushioned bench. “How are they?”
“Pet has not confessed since her father’s downfall.” The monk stares into the honeysuckle. Anne notices a long scar on his neck. “William spends most of his time with his falcons. James mourns more than just his father. Lady Anwen no longer writes him.”
Anne moans, this the result of a feud between Anwen’s brother Lord Neirin and a local landowner, Meuric. After a felled bridge barred their return at Christmas, Meuric’s son caught them on his land. When he tried to molest her maid, Anwen cut his throat. The infuriated Meuric imprisoned her in his garret until Lovell offered him a place on the Welsh Council for her freedom.
“Has she shared the details of her ordeal?” she asks.
Elfric shakes his head, plucking a loose thread from his cowl. “She speaks not of her tribulation. Lady Anwen hasn’t left her castle. Unless a sympathetic soul reaches out to her, she may never recover. She might welcome a visit from you, Lady Tyrell.”
Voices float on the wind, her children waiting in the inner bailey. “Do you try to divert me from my torments with hers, Brother?”
The confessor shrugs, a twinkle in his amber eyes. “Busy hands are the best cure for a broken heart… unless you want to listen to Lord Dudley and Sir Thomas assess the house?”
Aware of their footsteps upstairs, Anne shudders.

Former champion Kvitova makes early Wimbledon exit
LONDON (Reuters) – Twice former champion Petra Kvitova blamed increasing Grand Slam nerves after she slumped out of Wimbledon in the first round on Tuesday, beaten by inspired world number 50 Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus 6-4 4-6 6-0.
Tennis – Wimbledon – All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, London, Britain – July 3, 2018. Petra Kvitova of the Cezh Republic reacts during her first round match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus. REUTERS/Andrew Boyers
Eighth seed Kvitova, who withdrew from the Eastbourne tournament last week with a hamstring injury, appeared to be moving well but looked pale and drawn particularly in the first set.
“I just didn’t feel well obviously. Was a first round. The nerves were there again. I don’t know. I just tried to kind of fight with myself. Probably was the biggest opponent which I have,” the Czech said.
“I tried. I changed it in the second set when I got an early break. In the third, I think it was just too quickly when she was on the board, and I just couldn’t handle it any more.”

Kvitova, 28, has worked hard this year, winning five titles. The Czech, Wimbledon champion in 2011 and 2014, won back to back tournaments in Prague and Madrid, and successfully defended her title on grass in Birmingham last month.
“When I was younger, I played better on the Grand Slams than the other tournaments. Now is the time when I’m playing better on the other tournaments than the Grand Slams,” Kvitova said.
Sasnovich, 24, kept her cool throughout the two hour 14 minute match. She went for her shots, served with pace and variety and played big points apparently without nerves.
That was until the 10th game of the second set, when, serving to stay in the set, she started to feel the pressure.
She served two double faults to give big-hitting Kvitova set point and though she saved that one, she lost the set with a forehand out wide.
Slideshow (2 Images)
The wobble seemed to galvanize the Belarusian, however.
She came out fighting in the third set, capturing game after game with steady defense and exquisite shot-making, including drop-shot winners and getting the better of a volley rally at the net.
“When I didn’t really put the pressure on her, she could just do whatever she wanted. She did great dropshots as well. I don’t think I won any one of them,” Kvitova said.
The Czech, by contrast, showed only flashes of her old grasscourt brilliance and produced 36 unforced errors. She sent down aces but missed simple forehands and was troubled by the wind as well as her own lack of composure.
Sasnovich completed victory with two aces in a fitting end to a fine performance.
“It was a good match but I can play better as well,” Sasnovich said. “I was just warming up when the match was 5-0.”

Chapter 1: Forgotten?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Picture when Pile, with her dogs, coincidentally meets Ucchi
As soon as Pile enters her home, she’s greeted by 2 toy poodles that were standing, jumping and softly barking.
“Aww you guys ♡, hihi”, says Pile as she lovingly hugs them.
Right after, she heads straight to her bedroom and decides to lay her bag on the bed.
She looks back and gazes upon the clock
Tumblr media
‘It’s 9:15 p.m. already? Wow, I didn’t expect it to be that late...’ Pile has thought to herself,
but then she blinks quickly in realization-
“HOLD ON! That’s still, in fact, early for me! I have no bedtime!”
As Pile sorts out her bag, unexpectedly, a light shines out of nowhere in the side pocket, causing her heart to skip a beat.
She places her right hand on her chest and lightly sighs as she realizes right away that it was her phone.
“There’s A LOT of notifications. How’d it get to such amount? Have I not checked my phone?- Oh that’s right, I had set it on silent since I had a live today~ must have forgotten.”
She sits down on the side of her bed and scrolls through all of her missed notifications.
You can see how much happiness she’s filled with, as she laughs and smiles, reading through all of her birthday greetings.
But when she looks up at the ceiling and sighs in a sign of disbelief, right there and there, the atmosphere has changed its mood.
She looks back at her phone for about a minute without saying anything, nor having any facial expressions.
Tumblr media
‘Everyone seemed to have greeted me, and the only ones who haven’t are those in-
Tumblr media
  Her eyebrows furrow.
‘Mimori is the only one who has tweeted me a birthday greeting, but still....’
‘They couldn’t have forgotten, could they? Are they planning a surprise perhaps?...No, that can’t be the case since I have no plans with them, nor was I invited to anything.’
“It’s 9:38 p.m. already....Last time we chat was 3 days ago....”, Pile’s voice shifts to a nervous tone in the latter, “and I don’t even want to remember what it was about (•~•) ....”
The birthday girl grips her phone with her left hand, while she rests her chin on the palm of her right. Her mind is piled up with so many questions, choices, and decisions, as she asks herself of what she must do.
  ‘Shall I remind them?’
Her eyes are now starting to shift to different places…
‘Or maybe at least give a clue about it?- ’
“No No No, that’s not you Eriko! That’s a bit selfish of you...Is it even a selfish act though??
Gah, I don’t even know anymore…Why am I so desperate?”
The μ’s girls are very precious to her. Well, LoveLive! is the main reason as to why her career as a singer became successful.
Poor girl, her mind rambles on several ideas, options, and disagreements. And after the live she just had today, and with all these thinking, she just got her brain all worn out.
“Aaaagh”, she lays herself on the mattress, covering her eyes with the back of her right’s forearm.
Flashbacks then come to her mind of each of her Love Live! μ’s colleague’s birthday celebration. Last that has come in was Kussun’s, she felt a bit jealous as to how grand of a surprise it was. But even so, she lightly smiles as to remembering those moments.
“They just can’t forget…I had a live show and the fact that Mimori tweeted me, how could they not be informed that it’s my 30th birthday…”
The light brunette is now filled with negative emotions such as sadness and disappointment, but actually it is more on confusion and disbelief.
She wants to cry them all out but decides to not to and tries to recall all the positive episodes that have happened today. It is her birthday after all, she does not want to end this special day with such negativity.
9:24 a.m.
Pile opens her eyes halfway. She tries to recollect herself as she sits up, pulling her knees close to her. She hugs em and rests her chin on top.
After about 3 mins, she notices that she did not change clothes from yesterday’s live and the fact that she did not take an evening shower, she rushes to the bathroom to freshen up.
As Pile prepares her breakfast, she hears a familiar ringtone coming from the living room.
 ‘Who can be calling?’
As she glances over her phone,
Tumblr media
her eyes widen and immediately answers the call-
 “SU-CHAN!”
“AH! Pai-chan, you seem hyper first thing in the morning....
By the way, that’s the 100th time you’ve screamed my name whenever you answer my calls.”
“Really Suzuko? Out of all the numbers, it just had to be 100?”
“Hehe....Yes. ANYWAYS, could you make me matcha green tea? I’ll be there in a few seconds-“
 “Wait, WHAT?”
 “Bye Pileeee”
 Mimori hungs up
‘Huuuh?! In seconds?! How close by is she???!’, Pile thinks out to herself as she prepares the necessities for the requested tea.
Even with the certain amount of confusion going about in her head, Pile’s mood has certainly shifted to excitement.
Ding dong
And there she goes dashing down the entrance hallway. Her footsteps can be heard by her friend waiting outside; she too was also a member of Love Live! μ’s.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Picture of Mimori and Chocolat-chan
“Eh? Do I look like a ghost to you?”
 “Why a ghost?”
“Because your face said it all when you burst opened the door.”
“Yes Suzuko- OF COURSE NOT. Since when was someone happy seeing a ghost?!”
“Uhm...ghostbusters, hehehe”, Mimori grins to her answer as Pile’s face turns into someone annoyed or unamused. ( ^∀^)/(−_−;)
“Then maybe I am a ghostbuster, and that means to say that you DO look like a ghost.”, Pile says in a sarcastic tone.
“Correction.... A beautiful ghost“, says Mimori in reply with her signature Mimo wink at the end.
 “Haha, funny-“
The kettle begins to rustle, alerting Pile.
“Oh! That’s for your tea!”, Pile runs back and asks Mimori to close the door for her instead.
Tumblr media
As Mimori rests herself on the couch, found in the living room, she unleashes Chocolat in order to play with Pile’s dogs.
“Su-chan, why are you here anyways?”, Pile approaches with the tea Mimori asked for.
“Well, I wanted to hang out with you in the mall. I decided to fetch you instead of meeting you up there.” Mimori takes a sip and places the tea on top of the wooden coffee table in front of them.
Pile’s eyes starts to widen, because the first thing that comes into her mind is perhaps a birthday surprise.
“But why inform me in matter of seconds before your arrival?”
 “Uhm...SURPRISE-“
 “Not buying that...”
“Fineee...it was your birthday after all. You had a live show yesterday and I was pretty sure that you’d be busy and tired for the day. But really, I wanted to surprise ya of my visit. I want to celebrate your birthday, just you and me, like last year when we did with mine.”
“You shouldn’t have informed me then, that way it would’ve been more of a surprise... Plus, after your call, you had me more confused than being surprise-“
“No. You were mostly excited than being confused AND surprised.”, Mimori smirks. Embarrassed, Pile looks away from Mimori and acts like Maki by saying her famous line, “Nani sore, imi wakannai!”.
 Pile then thinks to herself,
‘Could the rest of the girls be waiting for us in the mall to surprise me? They must’ve tasked Mimori to fetch me.’
“Are you really trying to act like Maki-chan? Hehe, can’t forget about μ’s?”, asks Mimori.
“OF COURSE NOT!”, Pile abruptly shouts in a way that caused Mimori to flinch.
 “Woa, Pile...a-are you alright?”
She then returns to her normal self when Mimori asked her the question.
 “Oh no. I’m sorry...I didn’t mean to...”
“It’s fine, I just didn’t think that you would react that way.”, Mimori smiles in order for Pile to calm down.
“Right...Well, imma dress up now.”, Pile stands up and heads straight to the staircase.
“Don’t wear anything formal by the way, I am not treating you to a very grand restaurant or anything.”
“Awww whatt...Yea yea I know, and besides- I had planned to wear my Nishikino Maki Animal Hoodie.”
“Why not the jersey one like mine?”
“I don’t want to be matchy-matchy with your Umi Jersey Jacket. I just want us to be wearing something similar in concept.”
Mimori takes a sip off her tea.
“Pfffft...matchy-matchy? Yours doesn’t even have the exact same design as mine. You’re just shy because we would look lik- HEY! WAS I TALKING TO NO ONE?!”
‘Hmph she left me, and now I feel embarrassed because it looked as if I was talking to MYSELF.....
 Although Pile,
Flashback
Tumblr media
that was the first time I’ve heard you reply in a very sharp and serious tone, and yet the topic was about μ’s….Did something happen...?‘
 “I’m done!”
The lady that was left alone raises an eyebrow, “And you’re not sorry?”
 “Sorry for what?”
“For leaving me while I was talking? Never mind then...hmph!”
“Wait I did? All I heard was “pffft”, then I thought you were gonna pout and force me to follow what you want, so I left.”
“Amazing Pile, simply amazing”, Mimori slowly claps.
“Don’t worry Su-chan, I know your style heh.”
Pile winks back at Mimori and heads down to the entrance hall, where her shoe room can also be found. But then a loud scream is heard,
“AAH!”
“Su-chan, what’s the matter?!”, Pile runs back.
 “Oh! Sorry, sorry...
Chocolat-chan ran and bumped into the coffee table, and then the tea spilled onto your floor. I’m really sorry.”
“Oh no, it’s okay, I’ll clean it up. This will also serve as my apology for leaving you.”
“No no, I’ll also help clean….
BUUUuuT, since you didn’t want to be “matchy-matchy”, at least let me be the one to choose your shoes.”
 “Uh- is that necessary?”
“That will serve as your apology instead, hihi”
“ I trust you for choosing my shoes, but I want to pick for myself.”
“Aw c’mon, pretty pleeeeaaaseee?” Mimori does the puppy eyes since she knows it is irresistible, especially to Pile. And now Pile tries to look away, closing her own two eyes, but still opens one of them afterwards. Mimori is still doing it, and no matter what Pile does, she cannot find herself to say no.
Sweatdrop
“Mmmmmm...I should’ve seen this one coming...”, Pile lets out a sigh and smiles back at Mimori.
“Fine, you go pick. Just make sure it’ll match the hoodie I’m wearing.”
“Yey,  hehehehe.” Mimori claps with her fingers rapidly as she goes to the shoe room.
“You really do act like a pre-schooler sometimes...well, most of the times.”
Mimori replies while looking back, “We both do… everyone in μ’s in fact.”
“Yea...”, the dark brunette looks at her dear friend with concern but shrugs it off before she notices.

Mid-season review: Hawthorn
Hawthorn’s mid-season report card AFL.com.au reporter Marc McGowan joins the team to discuss how the Hawks are tracking
Shaun Burgoyne and Jack Gunston have been left to shoulder plenty of the load for Hawthorn
The season so far
There was scepticism about Hawthorn’s bold choice to let champions Sam Mitchell and Jordan Lewis go – on top of Brad Hill seeking a trade home to Western Australia – but few expected the Hawks to fall so quickly. They have lost four times by 51 points or more, own a dismal 4-8 win-loss record and are second-last despite playing an extra game than most of the bottom-eight clubs. Josh Gibson and maybe Luke Hodge are retirement-bound – Shaun Burgoyne seems likely to play on – but the positive is the emergence of NAB AFL Rising Star contender Ryan Burton, Tim O’Brien, Blake Hardwick, Daniel Howe and James Cousins, and the continued development of Kaiden Brand. Ex-Swan Tom Mitchell has been nothing short of outstanding, including an extraordinary 50-disposal outing against Collingwood in round nine.
Quarters won: 20 (out of 48)
Players used: 35 (equal League-high)
Yet to play: Jonathon Ceglar, Conor Glass, Oliver Hanrahan, Mitchell Lewis, Kieran Lovell, Harry Morrison, Conor Nash, Jonathan O’Rourke, Marc Pittonet, Luke Surman
Stats leaders
Disposals: Tom Mitchell (423) Marks: Tom Mitchell (72) Goals: Jarryd Roughead and Luke Breust (19) Tackles: Tom Mitchell (86) Metres gained: Isaac Smith (478.6) Forward woes: Hawthorn ranks second-last in inside 50 efficiency and marks inside 50
Best win
Round 10 against Sydney. An eighth lost third quarter for the year saw Sydney overrun Hawthorn, but the brown and gold rose to the challenge in the dying minutes to claim a morale-boosting triumph.
One that got away
Round nine against Collingwood. A depleted Hawks line-up led an out-of-sorts Collingwood by 43 points early in the second term, but fell apart amid the Pies’ second-half heroics.
Best and fairest leader: Tom Mitchell
Surprise packet: Ryan Burton
Who’s struggling: Josh Gibson, Ty Vickery, Billy Hartung, James Sicily, Taylor Duryea, Will Langford

Missing in action
There are many candidates, but Grant Birchall (three games) and prized recruit Jaeger O’Meara (four) have played seven matches between them. Both should return shortly after the round 13 bye.
The concern
Third quarters remain a major issue for the Hawks, who have won just three out of 12 this season. The opposition had more scoring shots in two of those winning terms. Coach Alastair Clarkson is yet to publicly offer a theory for what is going wrong, only repeatedly offering a gimmicky line about [insert name of journalist who asks the question] replacing him if they could figure it out.
Pass mark
It’s all about the kids now. Once you start talking about Hawthorn still ‘mathematically’ being able to make the top eight, you know its hopes are as good as shot. Even the coach’s words are less gung-ho in recent times about a late-season revival. Some of the young players look better than advertised, so hopefully they will get an extended senior run.
The coach
Alastair Clarkson has shown unwavering belief in many of those who served him well in the past, but injuries and poor form from some lesser names have forced his hand at selection. Has spoken twice in the past week about his confidence that the core of this playing list can form a successful Hawks line-up in the near future.
How the best 22 has changed
Seven of the below team – Frawley, Stratton, Birchall, Rioli, O’Meara, Hodge and Breust – didn’t play in the last-start Gold Coast loss. Frawley and Rioli are still many weeks away and Clarkson hinted the latter may not return this year. O’Brien, who has enjoyed a breakout season, beats Vickery for a berth, while Hodge comes into the best 22 after a club suspension cost him his round one place. Young guns Burton, Howe and Hardwick demand selection. Kaiden Brand is unlucky, but will be a big part of the future defensive structure.
