Y’know I just realized how badly playing team multi-player games as a kid fucked me up. Like, being a self conscious eleven year old, already having to grow up faster than I should have, also feeling a need to prove myself to random men on videogames to disprove the whole “girls can’t play videogames” thing really took a toll on my self-worth. I’ve dropped so many multi-player games just after leveling up because “oh shit there are expectations for me now”, I’ve even felt insecure when someone calls a videogame level I’ve been struggling with easy, and I know this isn’t just a me thing because my best friend also can’t pick up a multi-player game anymore.
